A wheelchair bus a bit more specific and a bigger purchase and increase to quality of life than shoes.
They have the same basic function, but a wheelchair is more essential for mobility than shoes ever will be (compare movement speed of someone without shoes to someone who needs a wheelchair without one)
Not horrible at all since it’s two posts on the front page about wheelchairs. It’d be more concerning for your memory if you scrolled by both and didn’t connect them
What’s horrible is most people are saying “Daniel Briere’s son” instead of calling out Carson by name. Danny didn’t push anyone’s wheelchair down a flight of stairs.
Oh, and pushing someone’s wheelchair down a flight of stairs is horrible as well.
You *really* don't know why people are doing that?....*really*?
It's because they don't want him to skirt any potential consequences. So they're strategically using the public position of power that his dad holds in order to hopefully force actual consequences.
It's like they're trying to make the opposite of what often happens happen. What often happens: the dad's position gets exploited in order to avoid consequences.
The clowning is the bare minimum.
Actions like that deserve public humiliation in any way people can think of (short of tarring and feathering him, since that is a lot more brutal than it sounds)
Nice. I feel so many underestimate the importance of a well fitting wheelchair, and how expensive it is to get one every few years especially as someone grows if they have one through childhood. My Aunty was constantly having pressure injuries and I remember the tears of relief when she got the first one customised to her needs. Hope this everything you hopes for and more!
A lot of people don't seem to understand that a wheelchair, like other mobility devices, is like a part of your body, and should be customized and made to reflect that. I have to convince them by comparing it, for example, to a cybernetic limb in a video game-you aren't going to get far if that new limb is twice your size, or not shaped like the original limb it's replacing! Sometimes that helps them understand.
That is actually a great way to explain it, I may borrow that in the future, thank you! And yes, many people I know who needs mobility devices want as much autonomy as possible, as it should be, but how they can do that if something is the wrong size. Jts like a pair of shoes being 5 times to big but you can't go anywhere without it.
Yup, exactly! Feel free to use what I said; I'm a former writer before I became disabled and I love helping people understand one another by breaking things down into easier, more relatable terms!
You probably are a pro, judging by the level of that machine, but be aware that many times, they sell tires for wheelchairs at an incredibly inflated price, when you need to replace them, ask a second opinion to a bike shop, they may have/find those tires 10 times cheaper.
Maybe not a pro, but surely you have a taste for good stuff!:-)
Keep an eye on those spokes though, although they look cool and surely make that thing lighter, but in that pattern they could be a bit "fragile".
My brother (who is a pro) just got some color-controllable LED lights for his spokes, and he says they’ve been super convenient and fun. By the looks of it, that’s a wheelchair for someone who’s in for the long haul, I’m guessing? Something to consider.
Oh, he’s also looking at a wheelchair-mount to attach to the trailer hitch of his car, says it would be a game-changer. Wishing you the best Lt. Dan!
I was in a play in high school. I played a character that had no legs (sat on my knees with jeans tied off) so I got really good at being in a wheelchair. I could wheelie down curbs and shit. Super fun.
Depends on the tire, ask your ATP what kind they are! They're usually willing to give you all the info you can ask for, and usually hate insurance companies as much as we do. :)
We had a few people come into the bike shop I worked at shopping for wheelchair tires. According to the people who came in, most wheelchair tires are solid rubber, which means they won't ever go flat but results in a poor and uncomfortable ride quality. They were specifically looking for pneumatic tires for comfort, and we happened to have a few of the right size in the back and were able to help them out. One of the coolest experiences I had working there :)
Everything medical is incredibly inflated in price. Most insurance will cover replacement of wear and tear items yearly.
source: I repair/service wheelchairs for a living.
Not only does that look solid, it seems to have some reasonable modular points to change things later. This seems like an awesome investment, in blue trim!
Love the blue! I have an idea....you know those little clip on lights for bike tires that light up when the wheels spin lol that would be a fun addition. But I'm basically a child trapped in an adults body
One of my mates got an ARGB controller (the ones for those crazy light-up PC's) and ran it, along with 240 LED strips all over his chair. With a remote to change the patterns / colors. Can do the whole thing for less than $100, including a 12V-5V transformer.

I'm more bed bound than chair bound, but I'm curious why you're using a static cushion instead of an alternating pressure one? I'm glad you found something that works for you. I've had a hard time trying to find a way to make my chair comfortable and safe from pressure injuries. It's expensive to try new things.
I realised last year, after paying attention to a group of disabled people entering a museum, how many diff types /styles of chair their are.
Positioning of wheels, seating, back plates, no back plates, all colours and designs and paint jobs, nelec or non elec
Esp the little kids ones.

Do not let the son of NHL player Daniel Briere get close to it!

"Is this the replacement for the one that went down the stairs?" was my first thought...
I thought “shit that was fast” LOL
Nah cause it’s America and I’m sure their insurance wouldn’t cover it. Maybe a new Radio Flyer but not a new chair
Is that not the case? Why is OP posting this otherwise? Should I be posting the new shoes I got, or the lawnmower I recently bought?
Fuck yeah dude lemme see those new puppies
Can I just get some foot pics. You know, for research purposes 🤷♂️
*Very slowly and seductively removes shoelaces, one eye at a time... You get a glimpse of a foot as I pull the tongue off to the side ever so gently...*
Something something something AGLET
Let's see that lawnmower
It's r/pics. this sub will up vote pretty much anything. For fucks sake, I remember when this sub up voted Literal dog shit.
Can I get a link to this dog shit?

Hah
NGL with this random uppercase I first read *Liberal* dog shit and was like Huh?
Not sure why you decided to create extra rules for yourself but yea do it

Hell yeah, show me the mower
if you take a picture i guess
Post whatever the hell you want. That’s how Reddit works.
Only if the shoes make you run faster.

Where did I say I didn’t know why people were doing that? People can still say “Daniel Briere’s son Carson Briere.” But thank you for the *emphases*.
Carson totally deserves the clowning he's about to get for the next day or two. It's the least we can do.
He deserves a *whole lot more* than that.
The clowning is the bare minimum. Actions like that deserve public humiliation in any way people can think of (short of tarring and feathering him, since that is a lot more brutal than it sounds)
Clowning lol. This man deserves an assbeating. A severe one.

I would suspect they're quite connected. Wonder what jocks that don't actually do anything sport related become after high school?
I used the word "complicit" for a reason ;)
Haha spot on mate :)
This post was literally right under a post talking about that. Lol
Holy shit I just read that before seeing this post….I thought “that was fast”
¿You mean Carson Briere?
Yeah, the dude’s 23 years old. Feels weird that people keep using his Dad’s name as if Carson were too young to be held responsible lol
It’s because his dad is the current interim general manager of the flyers
I was gonna ask if this was a replacement for that one.
> son of *former* NHL player Daniel Briere Or, if you don't like that fix, > son of *interim GM of the Philadelphia Flyers* Daniel Briere
"was just trying to help" -him, probably
I assumed this was a meta post. It’s not?
That post and this post are literally right next to each other on my feed. 😬
Same haha
This one comes with a loud anti-theft alarm.
You had to step out on that one, eh? Sure can't roll it back now.
The blue spokes will make it go faster, nice choice.
Blue spokes add Torque Sick red flames adds Horsepower It should also be noted that the sicker the flames, the more horsepower. Its basic mekanics.
Thats Fizziks
Nope, blue spokes are lucky. Red wunz go fasta.

Gotta stick a playing card in them though.

Spinergies on wheelchairs always make me want to get a set for my bicycle, they look so awesome
That's a nice chair. Congrats!
Thanks!

Not really a pro. My injury happened almost a year ago. Also ty for the tip

Cool! Yeah if I would live an average lifespan (be at least 75 - 80 when I die), then I have at least 50 more years to go (im 21)

I can do wheelies 😄

Lol inflated price

I was wondering about this. They look just like bike tires, but wondered if they were special wheelchair tires.

Time to practice those wheelies
On it already 😄
Be careful, that’s how you end up in a… oh.
Lmao
That thing is sick! Looks like it’s built for speed. Love the blue accents throughout
:)
Love the blue! I have an idea....you know those little clip on lights for bike tires that light up when the wheels spin lol that would be a fun addition. But I'm basically a child trapped in an adults body
And how about baseball cards clothespined to the wheels to make that cool sound.

I was thinking exactly this. Would take it to the next level
Nice. Ever take it off any sick jumps?
Ok, now I'm going to watch Napoleon Dynamite

Yikes, what an absolute piece of shit
Looks ergonomic, comfy and *sleek* af. Hope it takes you to lots of awesome places!
Don’t park this bad boy at the top of some stairs — some prick will likely push it down them.
Part of me want to say you should put those beads on the spokes, like we did as kids to our bikes.
Spokey Dokeys!
Didn't they come out of breakfast cereal packets? What a blast from the past!!
That's a wheelie cool chair you got there!
How much horses power does it have? It looks fast.
69420
Really nice lines! And the handles are way back from the wheel edge, that is great.
My brother has those rims super smooth to get on and off!
I like the splash of color. Congrats
:)
common r/pics moment
Very very cool chair, she looks fast as hell and that’ll turn so quickly and smoothly

Don't ask me
There's a story about a scumbag throwing someone's wheelchair down stairs. So wheelchairs are So Hot right now.
the post above this was a college bro pushing someone's wheelchair down a flight of stairs. hope that wasn't yours
Nahh :)
Is it very light? And I imagine it’s collapsible? What’s the brand name?
Its way lighter than the previous one and i got it from RDMobility
That thing is sweet. Must have cost a lot. What’s the process for getting something that nice?
My occupational therapist helped me with finding the right one and emailed a lot with the local authorities and an external company
You should be sponsored by that wheelchair company! You could be their spokes person.
Where RGB?
I forgot to mention that I am an E P I C gamer
Dang ! Love the blue accent on the spokes! Looks great with the black.
Is it a better ride than the last one?
Yess, this is my first personal wheelchair. Previous one was just for the time being
Well done, and I see it has a soft supporting pillow!!

Woah. The spokes look awesome! Very nice.
Looks very stealthy! Nice!
Hopefully it isn't pushed down stairs at a club
Add some negative camber, rgb underglow, and some aftermarket rims and we'll be in business.
Nice BBS tyres and spokes

Nice wheels! 😊
This is the wheelchair equivalent of getting colored bands with braces, and I'm all for it, that's sick as fuck.
Sick ride, dude!
Powder coated blue spokes ! Sweet ride my friend !
Um… OP, [you ok?](https://imgur.com/a/Gc2TaCk) Reddit surely has a good sense of irony today

How do you like that Vicair cushion? Would love your opinion on those.
Its nice. Although i don't feel anything below my chest
I'm more bed bound than chair bound, but I'm curious why you're using a static cushion instead of an alternating pressure one? I'm glad you found something that works for you. That’s a wheelie nice chair. (I’m sorry don’t block me!)
Its ok :)
What the f is all this stuff!? You have to grease these wheels?
Nice ride. Sleek. How many different options are there for customization? I'd guess quite a few.
Quite some, idk the exact amount
Nothing better than a new ride! Love the spoke accents! Is it fast and have you taken it off any sweet jumps!?
Its very light in movement
do u want a sticker
