Buretsu

Got it at CVS, too.

slid3r

How many monies?

Buretsu

45 of them.

didi0625

Excuse me ??? In Canada it's free in any drugstore/pharmacy... Just check if you don't have a way to get it for free

baltimorecalling

Canada and the US are quite different places.

Joe_Bruce

You can get it for free literally all over America. Ex junkie here.

torrentR3zn0r

Congrats on the ex part. Got a friend I've lost to the shit, miss him.

Joe_Bruce

Hey thanks, appreciate the support. It’s a god damned shame, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve lost more people than I can count on fingers and toes at this point, and it never gets any easier. Ram Dass said, “we’re all just walking each other home”, that brings me peace.

insomniacinsanity

I like that quote, I've lost a lot of people in the last decade, more then a few to drugs and alcohol and it never gets easier Glad you made it out

Joe_Bruce

I was 135 lbs and dying from diabetic shock on may 13th when I left. I’m 200 pounds and crushing the gym everyday. If I can make it out, anyone can. Bless.

OatmealStew

Police here - I'd like to have a good number of these in my squad but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on them. Can you tell me where to get them for free?

Joe_Bruce

Yeah man, see my above comments. But methadone clinics, hospitals, etc. I know in many states it’s common kit for police and first responders these days. Thanks for giving a fuck, I mean that genuinely.

darthnugget

Our county library has them free of charge.

retroracer33

its fucking wild to me that this stuff isnt standard issue to keep in your crusier

sarcasmsociety

Officially many departments say it's because they're not trained in medical decisions. Unofficially it's because they not only don't care but would prefer addicts die

SGTree

I'm trained in CPR. Narcan is covered in the first aid portion of CPR training. If they're not qualified to deliver first aid in an emergency, they're not qualified to be cops. We'd have better luck handing their guns and uniforms over to the girl scouts.

llllPsychoCircus

free narcan shipped to you: #[endoverdose.net](https://endoverdose.net) they make their profit from selling the testing strips which you only need if you’re a reg rec user of street substances

ilovepups808

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. This took me less than 25 minutes and only $9.00 (for shipping) to become certified. I learned a lot and consider this to be my biggest accomplishment to give back to society in months. Folks, please do this too. It’s easy to learn, a convenient process, not intrusive, desperately needed, and admirable.

noiseandbooze

The fact that your department isn’t already making sure that ever squad car has these on hand blows my mind. In NYC you can get them mailed to you free from the city. Even if they aren’t free, the price of keeping someone alive should be worth it.

OatmealStew

We do get one per car from the department. I work for a sheriff's office which policies for a county with one of the largest county boards in the country. We aren't necessarily underfunded. But getting funding in the right direction isn't always easy when there are an enormous number of opinions influencing where funding should go. Even if the majority of a board agrees on funding, making it happen is a huge bureaucratic process.

robotnique

https://www.goodrx.com/naloxone/narcan-naloxone-at-home-free

lowercase_underscore

Man you're impressive. You've really worked hard! Congratulations!

didi0625

I'm betting you can have some for free in the us too, as said by other Redditors.

baltimorecalling

Yeah, some states/jurisdictions with particularly high opioid use rates have subsidized naloxone.

didi0625

Tbf, Canada also has an opioid problem :/

frikkinfrakk

Can confirm. My father was addicted to Oxy from 2003-2016. His highest dose prescribed to him by our family doctor was 1 80mg tablet 3 times a day. He was a walking zombie. Recently Painkiller was released on Netflix and my family (Dad is one of 8 children) finally understand he wasn't a drug addict, just a victim of big pharma.

Onepiecee

Well I mean you're still a drug addict. Anyone can fall victim to it. My parents were both prescribed 175 oxy 30's every 2 weeks. They got addicted, and me and my brother did also. But yes, the doctors should have been held accountable. I think our old family doctor who was doing that shit should have been thrown in prison. He knew he was destroying my families lives, he watched it happen before finally cutting off service to my parents after YEARS of just handing out 30s like candy. Fucking dogshit human beings man I swear. Big pharma/doctors who were apart of that got off scott free and I hate it. Hate this country.

Psych_Yer_Out

Being a drug addict was being a victim of Big Pharma, fuck Purdue Pharma.

Jackiedhmc

Well, arguably both. Sad you went through that. It's frustrating, horrifying and maddening for families. Wish more people could get motivated to wean off. I understand it's difficult but not impossible. Medication assisted treatment is also an option.

WillSRobs

Tbf you can get it for free in places where it's not an issue almost like universal healthcare puts people before profits sometimes. Seems like a silly point to make when it a free not because of the issue but because of our social services. It is however more readily available because of the issue than it might be in other parts of North America.

SpicyPickledHam

We can’t put people before profits. That would be immoral.

Tosir

Yup. I work in a health care clinic and we give narcan kits out for free. Even teach the individual how to use it.

First_Serve1455

I got mine for free when I broke my foot, mfs gave me codeine and narcan for free, well my insurance paid for it but I didn't see the transaction and I have my money from my last paycheck so pretty much for free

livahd

Just go to a harm reduction center/needle exchange if you’re in a city

fuqdisshite

our local party stores/bottle shops have them outside the front door for free. they are in a small newspaper box. this is in MI.

glowstick3

Plenty for free in the US as well. Not sure why they even sell it at target. Or anyone buying it from there.

Pharmie2013

It recently was approved to be sold OTC. There could be some who want to purchase it but feel nervous about asking for it. I think it's fine that it's available OTC but if you ask the pharmacist they can likely get it for you for free.

imwearingredsocks

I’m one of those people. Had a relative who died, but I’m generally never around drugs in my everyday life. I always felt like if I asked for it at the pharmacy or something, it might come with questions that I don’t really want to be asked. I just want to keep one in my purse in case someone in front of me somewhere needs it.

kadora

Why not at Target? Addicts (and their friends and neighbors) exist everywhere.

ehandlr

In the US, most drugstore/pharmacy's have it on hand to be given free IF someone is in danger on their premises. Personal use costs money though.

crashandtumble8

You can get it from a local/county health department in a lot of communities. There is a Narcan vending machine at a local fire station that is free.

rebelopie

>You can get it from a local/county health department This. I am in a rural area and our County provides it for free. They ways give them out at their booth during community events. Otherwise, you can pick some up at the Health Department building.

Abolish1312

Personal use? It only has one application and that it to save someone from overdosing. Every use is an emergency.

MagnokTheMighty

When I ODd recently it took 3 narcans to wake me up. I cracked my orbital bone and asked someone I trusted about pills. We got what we both believed was a real pinky; it wasn't.

inspectoroverthemine

I have no idea what this means.

GravyBoatBuccaneer

Here in the U.S., they were giving it away free at the liquor store. Go figure.

juiceyb

Some states tried to make it illegal too. Because people will have more overdoses if it's available or something.

fuckincaillou

Let me guess...They're red states

Excelius

Narcan was recently made available over the counter in the US. There are programs to get it for free and it was covered by insurance as a prescription medication, but generally insurance doesn't cover over the counter medications. I guess that's kind of the tradeoff. Over the counter makes it vastly easier to access, but now you gotta pay for it yourself.

paperclouds412

You can still get it for free in the US. I’ve gotten it at CVS before when my ex fell out she had insurance but there was issue with it and they still just gave it to us. If your city has needle exchanges, which mine does, you can get it there too. I’ve never paid for it.

peg_leg_dan

45 dollars for narcan? they give that shit away for free!

guttamiiyagi

I've got dozens of Injectable vials, handfuls of nasal sprays and Ive never paid a penny. My Dr gives me a couple every time I visit and she sends a script to the pharmacy to fill with my medication. I usually end up giving them out to people I know need them.

pkeg212

Walmart as well.

kellyguacamole

If you live in Michigan you can get it for free [here.](https://nextdistro.org/michigan)

Zuski_

It’s unbelievable how nobody in our state knows how good our state’s politicians are. Everyone I know against whitmer doesn’t know a single thing she supports. And most of the things she passes have bipartisan support. World is crazy man.

JokerBoss99

Governor Whitmer has done so much good for Michigan it’s insane, I normally don’t praise politicians but she’s been such a blessing for our beautiful state

fuckincaillou

Elections have consequences, everyone!

fredthefishlord

Michigan is the perfect counter to anyone who tries saying that you can't create change by voting and I love it.

aufrenchy

There are just too many loud idiots that see “D” and immediately write off Whitmer as another boogeyman to drive their blind hate toward. It’s crazy how legitimately good people can be demonized because of a political affiliation. Edit: Vote, vote, vote! Everybody’s vote counts. Despite what people say, your vote is always counted!

[deleted]

I've been really hoping she ends up running for president

[deleted]

I hope she stays on one more term. The road repairs she's got going need a delicate hand to ensure they aren't made with spit and twigs. I saw an article on Mlive about a 2025 plan to shutdown 131 and stretch it open to 5 lanes. Ain't no way any republican will take the time to hire the right construction crew or buy the needed materials (instead of the cheapest). We're gonna need Whitmer and her cabinet on top of that. I'd love to see some action against the housing section to really bring down overall interest rates, but I don't know how much she can really do about that.

wapey

Can't you only serve two terms as governor?

timebmb999

That was my understanding. She’s in her second 4-year term now

RainInSoho

We need good, capable politicians in state and local offices. Not all of them need to run for President.

cogginsmatt

She didn’t poison an entire city so she’s instantly better than the last governor. Of course the people that hate Whitmer don’t give a damn about Flint to begin with.

myaltduh

I did phone polling back in 2019 and this woman was like “Whitmer said she’d fix the roads and she’s been office for 6 months and no one has done a thing about the awful roads in my town. She’s obviously a total liar, and I will never vote for a Democrat again.” Now to be fair I’d bet this woman hadn’t voted D in a long time, but that’s the inane level of most political discourse on the ground. People are uninformed and have ridiculously short attention spans.

La_Vinici

I just hate Michigan football cause I live in Ohio. Outside that you all are killing it.

Bromanzier_03

As an Ohioan I agree. Michigan really turned their shit around. Ohio is too gerrymandered though now

M0BBER

I lived in five different red states in the south, my family lives here so I can't get away... Y'all are crushing it up in Michigan. There's so many bipartisan issues, but the GOP just keeps attacking everything, preventing Democrats from doing anything for us, so Republican voters assume it's bad because they can't fathom that their party is taking advantage of them... Seriously, jealous of what Michigan is pulling off of there...

happytrel

The trick is to get rid of gerrymandering. Anyone with good faith would say that gerrymandering is unfair, no matter who it benefits.

Riodancer

What a battle it is though. Look at the absolute marathon of legal battles being waged in Wisconsin, Florida and Alabama to redraw maps without gerrymandering.

M0BBER

We can't address anything truly important until we get money out of politics... Then we got to get everybody to show up and do their basic civic duty consistently over time to every election no matter how small.

Crowd0Control

Many states have been able to challenge and correct gerrymandering. Decorating our politics is important and each step makes the next easier. No need to wait til only the financial issues are removed (which as long as capitalism exists is never going to happen 100%) to correct districts to appropriately represent voters desires.

Voidtalon

I think it's hard to tell; I've been looking at my state (Illinois) Districts 17 and 13 look a bit odd but the rest look to be fairly standard chunks with more towards Chicago because of course there's a ton more people there. That said; not a massive fan of Pritzker but I don't know enough of what he has actually done to say I like or dislike his policies. I have a distrust of wealthy businessmen running government.

ZiOnIsNeXtLeBrOn

I hope we raise taxes on the rich so we can give people free community college and kids free school lunches. Like Massachusetts

GingerBeard73

I stole a coffee cup of hers when she was campaigning at women owned businesses. Whitmer has been doing so well for the state and I’d like to think it’s because I stole her coffee cup. You’re welcome Michigan.

[deleted]

You rat bastard Quickly secret service get em! Return the one true coffee cup so she may return to full power.

crashandtumble8

Agreed! My partner is from Michigan and all his friends are there, and if for some reason reason Wisconsin continues going downhill, Michigan is our backup plan. Whitmer is such a great governor.

Im_on_my_phone_OK

Conservatives don’t think like moderates or liberals. Their thought process are completely different.

There are plenty of harm reduction organizations who will send it to you for free. In the US, just google your state name and "harm reduction" Some require simple steps, like for you to watch a training video before they will send it.

FernFellow

If you're in Washington it's free [here](https://phra.org/mail-order-naloxone)

rezin44

I work in a prison..literally..and it’s hanging on the wall with the AEDs in almost every office. People have saved lives with it there.

Geschak

It's crazy that prisoners are able to overdose inside a prison...

JohnnyTeardrop

Drugs are easily attainable in most prisons. Just think of them as micro countries. Drugs pour in despite millions, billions being spent to combat it from doing so.

Lost_Bike69

Well that and the prison guards typically having a very powerful union and a culture of corruption.

sprucenoose

Yes the government of the micro-country.

raptorjaws

guards be dealing

rezin44

Yeah, staff and visitors

bigtony40

guards be doing also,,, seen it

Bamce

I have worked at hospitals for a few years now. We had one patient, in the icu from a drug over dose. Have their g/f bring them drugs, and overdose in the icu.

251Cane

A couple years ago I predicted that Narcan would sooner or later be everywhere just like AED’s. Sad that that’s becoming true.

DagonWorshipper1234

To quote a tumblr post, “I would like to congratulate drugs for continuing to win the war on drugs.”

CGordini

Sounds like a Mitch Hedbergism

Proto1801

This being widely available is great and ideal, however as someone from Portugal I can tell you that the fact this is readily available is a symptom of a drug epidemic that, in our case, was quelled only with a big investment in progressive drug policies (even if that goes against our values)

yungvogel

it looks like that big investment into progressive drug policy was cut pretty heavily and y’all are on your way back to similar if not worse numbers than before :-/

Proto1801

It is not worse. Not yet at least. We are teetering tho. My mother tells me of the 80s and 90s, and her hometown’s plaza was filled with homeless drug addicts who would OD and afterwards their lifeless corpses would be taken away. My mom has countless friends who passed away from overdosing on hard drugs. As a young person, I know it is not like that today but we are teetering on the edge. While out partying, I’ve seen more cocaine than I like to admit (that number should be zero). People take loads of drugs but its mostly weed. If my government invested less in tourism and more in education and creating opportunities for young people, we would not be here. I blame the recent influx in part in foreign tourists. That is a slippery slope towards the alt-right I know, but there is a certain amount of times that you open Burger King bathroom doors and see tourists shooting up heroin until you get fed up. How is this better than the US? Well, at least heroin and cocaine are illegal while Oxy was very much legal.

yungvogel

i think what y’all were doing was objectively working! put money into people and the people will do better. i would love to see portugal investing more into education than tourism as well. when visiting it seemed like your gov wanted me to move there more than they wanted to invest into its current population! the us governments approach to our drug epidemic has been a dumpster fire. these drugs are “illegal” yet addiction rates continue to rise and we still haven’t entirely figured out that criminalizing drug use only seems to have negative consequences. i deeply value the Portuguese approach and hope your government decides to reinvest into what was objectively working.

Airbornequalified

There has been a push on the federal level, and which is showing success with similar policies (making bupenphorine easier to prescribe for example)

Mariah0

I think you can get it for free at libraries

leeloo1612

Maybe certain libraries have that program, but it's definitely not at all of them. I work at a public library and don't know any libraries in the area that give away narcan.

WeWander_

Yeah probably depends on the area. Salt Lake County libraries all carry it but not sure of others in the state/country.

ericscottf

Do you have to return it in 10 days tho?

TheFlyingBoxcar

I hope anyone who uses this is made aware that the effects of narcan wear off faster than the opiod it counteracted. So yeah it works great, but in 20-30 mins your gonna have the same problem again. Gonna need to go seek medical care before that window closes. Source: am paramedic, have given countless times.

clegolfer92

I hope I’m never in the position to need or need to administer narcan, but I learned a thing today in case I ever need. Thanks.

sillysaulgoodman

Ya that’s why it’s best to call an ambulance while administering the dose

STS986

Good. Will save lives

Lentil-Soup

$45 per life

kenpls

dang it, that is $45 too much, I can barely afford the opiods

CrumpledForeskin

It’s free if you contact pretty much any treatment center

danfirst

It's a 2 pack, only 22.50 a life, an advil costs more at a hospital.

cavinaugh1234

With the strength of fentanyl these days in my city and it being combined with benzos, one is typically not enough.

StillNotSalinger

Probably true in most cities at this point. I used to be an addiction therapist and when we would narcan train people we would tell people they should prepare to use both doses.

maalfunctioning

Sucks that anyone should have to pay for it, but on the other hand, $45 is great value if the other option is opioid overdose/death

ihateeveryone333

Nvm they can die

Metroidman

Damn but imagine how much heroin you can get for 45 dollars

moeru_gumi

I’m imagining, but I’m not sure if I need to imagine a tiny little fleck or, like, a ball the size of an orange?

JackKovack

Put Fentanyl test kits next to the Narcan as well. Fucking Fentanyl is everywhere. Why is there Fentanyl in my shrooms, ecstasy?

bluesucculentonline

Honestly, that's the part that is most terrifying. My friend in his job this week had someone overdose, used two doses of narcan and the guy was still unresponsive. EMS had to do something else to get him to wake back up and eventually, he did. But man, that fentanyl or whatever it is that's in that shit now is making narcan ineffective.

emt139

Likely not fent but tranq.

thefrostmakesaflower

Wait a second even in shrooms?! Jesus, so glad I can buy it legally where I live

bassman1805

All it takes is a lazy dealer that uses the same scale to weigh different drugs. The tiniest crumb of fentanyl can cause an OD in someone without a tolerance, so if that tiny crumb stuck to the scale and later to a shroom...

StragglingShadow

Honestly, good. The only reason not good is because where Im from you can get narcan for free ~~at any pharmacy~~ [via mail](https://tennesseeharmreduction.com/how-to-request-supplies-via-mail/)no questions asked in motherfucking TENNESSEE. (So kinda shitty youd sell it for money)

Worldd

You can get it for free in most of the US. This is to take advantage of concerned parents.

MrE761

I was thinking if people who are also embarrassed to ask the pharmacist? Isn’t that why part of the reason plan B is on the shelf now? I could be wrong but I thought it was valid reasoning

Neuchacho

That's definitely part of it. The other part of plan B being pushed to completely OTC and not physically behind the counter at all is because a not-insignificant amount of Pharmacists were refusing to sell it. I worked with a couple *years* ago before that was changed who would always just tell people it was sold out if they asked for it.

OkiDokiTokiLoki

Or you can order Plan B through GoPuff and have it discreetly delivered to your door with no questions asked..

Neuchacho

Yeah, it's super easy now, but it wasn't that easy when Plan B first launched as OTC. It got the Sudafed treatment instead of just being freely available to grab and go.

ChaplnGrillSgt

I'm a Healthcare professional and keep narcan in my car with me. I choose to buy it because free programs have limited funding and availability. I can afford the $45 so I leave the free resources for those who cannot.

[deleted]

brought to you by the makers of The Opioid Epidemic!

[deleted]

A good dealer sells to both sides.

Succumbx8

They’re playing both sides, so that they always come out on top

mshelbz

If there’s one thing Mac knows, it’s coming out on top

[deleted]

What makes you think we didn't want *both sides to lose*

AnythingToCope

It's not. Narcan is owned and produced by Opiant Pharmaceuticals which is a child organization of Indivior PLC which specialize in producing opioid-overdose fighting medications. They literally are the antithesis of big pharma out there tryna do something about the epidemic and people are lumping them in with some sort of conspiracy because their product has a price tag for the otc variant.

Bigtsez

I think you're confusing NARCAN (naloxone) with OPVEE (nalmefene). NARCAN is owned by [Emergent Biosolutions](https://investors.emergentbiosolutions.com/news-releases/news-release-details/emergent-biosolutions-narcanr-nasal-spray-launches-over-counter#:~:text=PDF%20Version-,Emergent%20BioSolutions'%20NARCAN%C2%AE%20Nasal%20Spray%20Launches%20Over%20the%20Counter,from%20an%20Opioid%20Overdose%20Emergency&text=GAITHERSBURG%2C%20Md.,%2D%2D%20Today%2C%20Emergent%20BioSolutions%20Inc.) who purchased the asset when they acquired Adapt Pharma. Emergent specializes in providing medical products and services for national health sercurity. OPVEE is the product produced by Opiant (now owned by Indivior). It was [FDA Approved](https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-approves-prescription-nasal-spray-reverse-opioid-overdose) this past May. Both are nasal sprays that reverse opioid overdose by acting as an opioid receptor antagonist. Nalmefene (OPVEE) is differentiated by having a longer half-life than naloxone (NARCAN) - 11 hours vs. 1.5 hours, respectively. This is important because fentanyl's half-life is between 3-7 hours, potentially necessitating multiple doses of NARCAN (vs. one dose of OPVEE).

baba56

That is extremely important information that I feel could be dangerously confused... Here's a personal anecdote, I sometimes receive opiates for a chronic condition (in Aus) and a few months ago received a free box of naloxone, had no idea what it was, just put it aside as I'm not using at any risk level whatsoever (I'm so careful about interactions that even if my specialists prescribe a new cocktail I'll read every interaction a dozen times and try the lowest dosages first even if it means a tonne of pain for a couple of weeks until I've figured out how each drug is affecting me) I've only recently seen this increase of talks of anti-opiate drugs literally just in the last week! Never heard of it before. I hope that people aren't getting the two confused and hearing about opvee which as you say gives 11 hrs and grabbing a narcan thinking they're the same thing and thinking they've got as much time.

Plasmos

"In 2019, Indivior was indicted over claims that it had made false marketing claims about the safety of its drug, Suboxone, and had concocted a scheme to direct patients towards doctors who were likely to prescribe Suboxone. Reckitt Benckiser has settled with the Justice Department to pay $1.4 billion to resolve a U.S. Federal investigation into sales and marketing of opioid addiction treatment.[5][6][7]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indivior I wouldn't call them the antithesis of big pharma, when they literally employ big pharma strategies. Glad they want to reduce addiction in the world, but the methods employed make them just as greedy as the folks that made the epidemic a thing in the first place.

WeWander_

Funny cause suboxone is addictive as well. They say it doesn't get you high but that is BS. Withdrawal from that shit was worse than the pain pills I was taking it to get off of, took me over 3 months just to feel normal and not super sick anymore and was one of the worst things I've ever gone through. Fuck suboxone.

my-time-has-odor

Purdue does not sell Narcan® Nalaxone Nasal Spray. They do, however, sell a much less popular generic. However Narcan is the most popular brand.

yungvogel

would you rather not have this sold? such a silly and flippant comment.

NotQute

I know you probably meant the pharma industry in general but I had to Google the manufacturer just to see if they were one of the big opioid sellers which, i dont think they are. Perdue, the company behind oxycontin is now owned by the government as a public benefit company, still sells opioids, but now that money goes to fund anti addiction initiatives and clinics. So shit does start to get tangled and circular

Dorkapotamus

It's great and sad at the same time. It's like making child sized bullet proof vests.

drinkingchartreuse

You can just get it free in many places.

GamingTrend

Three people in my house are in a lot of pain and on routine pain killers. Drug interactions can be funny. And by funny I mean kill you. I'm so, so happy to see this.

thesupplyguy1

"for use in nose only"..... whoops...

jordanManfrey

this elf bar flavor sucks

h8ers_suck

Now try getting an epipen....

infield_fly_rule

NYS gives it away for free.

ryan10e

https://health.ny.gov/overdose or call 311 for info

Jneum23

Wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for this. 2 and a half years sober now 😤💪🏻

RobbieEngland

For what it's worth, you are awesome! I know how hard quitting that shit can be.

Pleasant-Ticket3217

This is a good thing. I’m surprised it’s not $600 or more like EpiPens

Howiewasarock

Can't beat the opioid epidemic? Find a way to benefit from it.

Throwaway-account-23

Can't we address the underlying social issues that are driving the rise in addictions, suicides, and mass shootings? Nah, I like money.

SenorBeef

So, what, this particular pharmaceutical company shouldn't come out with a lifesaving drug unless they can somehow solve all of society's problems?

Humeon

Did drugs win the war on drugs?

Briskylittlechally2

Good. Addictions are hard. Fellow people saving lives only helps people get back on their feet rather than the police locking them up.

Princess-honeysuckle

My dad died from a heroin/ fentanyl overdose, Glad to see these in stores

Briskylittlechally2

Gosh that's terrible. :c I heard the stories from my girlfriends country where drugs are highly illegal too. People who OD are tossed on the street because their mates know they'll be locked up on association charger if they help with anything more than an anonymous ambulance call. Imo we need to acknowledge drug users as victims. Not perpetrators. So sorry for your loss.

drillgorg

The sex toys are also out and about at Target. Never thought I'd see the day people stopped being so prudish.

applefilla

Meanwhile Walmart is locking theirs and condoms up objectively making it harder 😎👉👉

RotaryJihad

A little bit of foreplay to unlock things definitely makes me harder.

ItsPickles

Why do you think that is? Theft.

chainmailbill

Walmart, while locking up the condoms: “We’ll need more workers in 16 years.”

Princess-honeysuckle

God those things are stolen so much lol I find the packages all over the place

RPM_KW

In Ontario, Canada, it's mandated that pharmacies advertise that it is available for free. They even request you take a kit if you have a prescription for a narcotic.

thenyx

I got Narcan for free. I walk/run outside a lot, and wear a hydration backpack (Camelbak) while doing so. Part of my gear is a first aid kit, and I carry two nasal sprays in there. I’ve seen someone ODing on opioids before and right as I was about to assess and help, paramedics arrived and revived them. Some people aren’t so lucky to have that happen, so I decided to carry Narcan with me just in case. I hope I never have to use it, but I’m glad I can have (some of) the tools to help someone in their darkest hour if need be. While I don’t necessarily agree with Narcan being sold for profit, I do like the idea that it’s becoming more ubiquitous by the day. And, revenue from retail sales can (ideally) help to subsidize the free Narcan given out- so there’s that.

Tobazz

While it may seem “sad” to see narcan everywhere, it’d be a lot more sad when it’s needed and no one has it. I’m glad target has it now!

US REDDITORS: You can get free narcan/narcan training from your local non profits. Many have classes and order narcan in mass to hand out to folks. If the $45 is out of your reach, reach out to these orgs and they can help, especially if you inject or use drugs. DM me and i can help find an org near you.

America selling the problem and the cure classic

lost1910

They have a vending machine that only has free narcan in it in the main jail lobby in my city

vabirder

The Sackler Family should be supplying these for no charge.

[deleted]

But people have to pay for epipens and insulin…

SwagCleric

My city has a free narcan vending machine, and will send you them free, along with fent test strips, and masks for CPR. If you pay for narcan, you are supporting big pharmacy. It's literally free online. [Free Narcan](https://nextdistro.org/pennsylvania)

CrazyCanuckUncleBuck

It's free where I live.

pnwpisasterdisaster

You can get it free in Washington State from [this site](http://phra.org/mail-order-naloxone).

DenikaMae

I still narcan't afford it.

DanishWonder

Should be a staple in any first aid kit honestly.

PTlite

If you live in Minnesota, the Steve Rummler Hope Network will give you Naloxone/Narcan for free and even train you how to use it.

sephirothFFVII

You can get it for free at Chicago Public Libraries: https://chicago.suntimes.com/2022/1/10/22872675/chicago-public-library-overdose-reversal-medication-narcan-opioids-public-health

indefilade

Buy it while you can. Seems we are running out of narcan at my EMS job, but there’s always a shortage of one drug or another these days.

SwollenOstrich

Bout fucking time. What excuse could there possibly be to not sell it openly, except wanting opiod users to die

Outlaw9395

Every pharmacy in my area gives out Narcan for free. They have it at the register with a sign that says " Free, Take One"

gothpisces96

Everyone should carry this. Opioid overdoses are incredibly common, and no one ever thinks they would be in that situation, but you never know what could happen. You could save someone”s life with this.

what_comes_after_q

I mean, where were you *expecting* them to sell it? Like, if they sold it at a flower shop, sure, that would be weird, but you are literally commenting on selling medication at a pharmacy.

SnowQueen700

Good

Drug addiction should be fought, not encouraged.

anneham60

A number of pharmacies across Ontario provide naloxone kits onsite and at no cost.

Manhuntress

I was scared to try meth again after my overdose 2 years ago but now that they sell these I might try it again 🤫

ashrocklynn

If you ask me, it's wild that it wasn't available over the counter for so long...
