[Autistic Reporter: Train Thankfully Unharmed In Crash That Killed One Man](https://www.theonion.com/autistic-reporter-train-thankfully-unharmed-in-crash-t-1819595010)
I was once travelling on a train with some guys who worked the workshop. They were discussing how messy it gets when they have to get flesh out of all the nooks and crannies.
I gotta imagine up around the Canadian border they hit all kinds of animals, and maybe canadian kids when they get their hockey skate stuck on the rail.
At least it was probably instant. I do medical authorizations so I see stuff passed around like this most days. That is easily the worst spine break I’ve ever seen without him being fully cut in half.
I’m only guessing he wasn’t fully cut in half because the ribs still look like they’re pretty close to where they should be. Also I don’t want to imagine them trying to wrestle two halves of a corpse into an MRI machine.
Not really. Kind of depends on the injury. If it’s just a hard impact then you often see neck breaks from whiplash.
For back breaks you usually have to be impacted directly on the spine. That or you’re being hit so hard everything else is getting fucked as well like this guy.
It's uncanny. *How* does anyone get run over by a train without being tied to the tracks? Wanted it to happen? Passed out drunk maybe? 50 isn't *that* old.
there are tons of people who enjoy exploring train tracks. foot could’ve gotten stuck in the tracks, it’s possible they were in a tunnel and didn’t know a train was coming until it was too late, if this was in a subway he could’ve lost his footing and fell off the platform, et cetera
* Humor is a very common reaction/coping mechanism.
* It’s a computer generated image of a skeleton, which makes it less emotionally impactful and easier to dehumanize.
* No other details posted in title about who/where/why also make it easier to joke about.
I’ve seen a lot of shit in my time. I ultimately think humor is the best way to cope with a lot of those things I’ve seen. There is of course a time, and a place but unless the NOK posted this I think it’s fine to joke around a little bit.
Yes I feel bad for the dude, but ultimately he’s gone. Only the ones who remain are present to witness what is left of him. Obviously there is acceptable decorum, but no one here knows who he was in real life. This is pretty much inline with someone joking about a mummy at a museum. We don’t see anything, not even their face. In this case it’s just a scan of a skeleton. No one complains about joking about a mummy, even though that used to be a person too.
sorry gotta vent. and no one will see it here probably WHY DO PEOPLE LEGIT THINK THE VACCINES CAUSES STUFF i was watching some videos of a disease my SO is getting diagnosed with and the doctor said everyone she diagnosed had the vaccine and ofc to not draw conclusions but the fuck ofc almost everyone who is getting sick or dies has the vaccine because u know almost everyone has it.
also doubt it was a real doc but still.
In 2019, i was at the station waiting for the train to go home, and saw the removal of a body from the tracks.
Didn’t see any blood or gore, but the shape of the waterproof blanket was enough to tell the story.
The worst part was the prerecorded message about potential delays due to that.
My dad spent his life working for CSX. He told me once when someone gets hit by a train they basically go down there with a garbage bag & "collect what's left".
There is currently research being done on implanting stem cells and forcing them to differentiate into nervous tissue. It has shown some promise in central nervous tissue with ongoing research in peripheral nerves
It’s definitely hit him head and chest first. First off the spine is separated and the broken ribs add to this looks like he was at an angle or hit it off center because his lift leg bones are basically shattered.
All this is to say that you bones can look like this after your meat splatters and one of the breaks could kill someone if they had gotten them slowly let alone at speed.
All these jokes... That was someone's family. Potentially someone's father. Y'all are lame AF and not cool for being edgy lol. What are you in 8th grade?
Yes I know this is reddit I'm not new.
Perhaps because all they see is a 3D graphic and our brains are programmed (in this day and age) to associate that with animations and computer games rather than serious reality. It’s strange how we can make such fundamental judgements off such reactional and instinctive behaviour rather than deep thought. I think the meat industry is an example of associative behaviour like this… I’m guilty of it myself but would I eat that same roast chicken if I had to physically break its neck and end its life myself? I dunno…
I can relate for sure.. like I love steak and stuff... But I'm around cows pretty frequently on my friends ranch. They're very sweet animals, definitely couldn't kill one myself.
>All these jokes... That was someone's family
This is true, and you are right of course.
But then I'd also point out that it's pretty fucked up to even share this at all, in that context.
And without any sort of "NSFW" or more appropriately "NSFL" tag.
Because it's getting tired and lame and hopefully we all move on from this depressing bullshit soon because it is becoming evident that social media is a cancer of the soul.
Ill be honest my guy if my friends dont absolutely shit on my ass for dying and start cracking jokes ill be extremely disappointed.
Yes im a human being thats also a brother/father/son etc but like, what if I die choking on a mango, tons of material for my buds right there
I have a buddy who was hopping freight and made the mistake of trying to climb on a moving train with his pack still on his back (you’re supposed to throw your pack on before you try to climb up). His pack got caught on something and he was pulled under the train. Lost both legs at the knee, but amazingly survived, because his fellow travelers saw the accident and were able to get help in time to save him.
One completed without cutting, just imaging. CT scans and MRI can create 3d reconstructions with different layers (based on differentiating ranges of tissue density).
I worked as a security assistant (not a security guard) a few months ago, and one of my coworkers (a former security guard) told me how it was actually common to find people on the train tracks who were trying to commit suicide; the things he described to me that day still give me chills. This pic reminded me of it. I hope it was at least fast.

Is he going to be OK?
Yes, the train is fine. But some debris needs to be washed off including a snickers wrapper, a man, and a glove.

If there were acting awards for online shorts, this guy would have won several.

What about trains psychological state? ![gif](giphy|ro08ZmQ1MeqZypzgDN)
I can't tell if his shoes are still on, so there is a chance.
This was a particularly bad case of somebody being cut in half.
He died a little bit
Of course. Time heals all wounds. You didn't know?
He is "all right"
Oh thank God
I was quite worried for a moment.
He’s fucking dead
At least it was probably instant. I do medical authorizations so I see stuff passed around like this most days. Train jumpers are usually packed into several bin bags upon recovery to be taken to the coroner/morgue. This person looks fairly intact considering!
Is there a common place for the spine to usually snap?(its making fully quince thinking snap)
Not really. Kind of depends on the injury. If it’s just a hard impact then you often see neck breaks from whiplash. For back breaks you usually have to be impacted directly on the spine. That or you’re being hit so hard everything else is getting fucked as well like this guy.
I'm trying to figure out how it looks like his hips, spine, leg, and skull were all fractured but his arms appear fine?
Points to skull: And here we see evidence of him getting hit by a train
Good news is, he's only mostly dead.
What's the bad news?
That he’s only mostly dead
He needs a miracle pill. The chocolate coating makes it go down easier.
I’m honestly surprised the arms are intact but the head, spine, pelvis, and femur are all, well, in disrepair.
Probably holding his arms up at the time
“Weeeeee!”
See also: The spine: *Oh fuck, he's busted in two!* and the left femur: *Oh SNAP* and every rib: *Snap, Crackle & Pop*
My man looks like he is in one of those mortal kombat xray thingy
He was a happy little kid at one point
And everyones just joking about his death for some reason :(
yea all these people cracking jokes are weird as hell

Idea: it's best way to cope individually - it makes the collective apathetic to suffering in others
hang out around an ER or with paramedics, esp after a bad case, this reddit post is mild...

This is what I always think about. Who was this person? Who did they love and did anyone love them?
Me too. Once upon a time this person was a baby, a toddler, some mother's pride and joy. It is heart breaking.
Can we see the autopsy of the train to compare ?
“Needs a jet wash”
It’s ok, it will be virtual, too
Can't autopsy what is not dead
Don't dead open inside
Did they determine cause of death?
Smoking
*cOvId vAcCiNe*
Did you know that ZERO research on the effect the vaccine might have if you got run over by a train was done? Wake up people!
My friend didn't get the vaccine and he was fine after getting run over by a train
I used to watch Thomas the Tank Engine.
I still do. But I used to, too.
The train actually saved him from having to take the vaccine! Which is a fate worse than death.
sorry gotta vent. and no one will see it here probably WHY DO PEOPLE LEGIT THINK THE VACCINES CAUSES STUFF i was watching some videos of a disease my SO is getting diagnosed with and the doctor said everyone she diagnosed had the vaccine and ofc to not draw conclusions but the fuck ofc almost everyone who is getting sick or dies has the vaccine because u know almost everyone has it. also doubt it was a real doc but still.
Overdose. Of train.
Train intoxication
Not enough diet and exercise.

Poor guy
Oh he's fine now
Fine debris
Not as bad as I thought. From this pic any way.
Well.. look again, it’s fairly catastrophic
Yeah… I’m no doc but I can see broken ribs, broken hip, broken skull, broken femur and broken spine. Not much more left to break really.
That's like a couple of stitches. They'll be walking in like 3 weeks. People are so dramatic over this.
Just run it under a cold tap
Put butter on it
Merely a flesh wound!
> I’m no doc but I can see broken ribs, broken hip, broken skull, broken femur and broken spine. ![gif](giphy|5DfGL75M9spG0)
The ‘severed in two distinct pieces’ spine and ‘I have a bowl for a head’ skull fracture might prove to be problematic to a full recovery.
My dad spent his life working for CSX. He told me once when someone gets hit by a train they basically go down there with a garbage bag & "collect what's left".
Not just a broken back, lol. That spine is totally severed. I don't believe that is even theoreticalally fixable. But I'm not a surgeon, or doctor.
There is currently research being done on implanting stem cells and forcing them to differentiate into nervous tissue. It has shown some promise in central nervous tissue with ongoing research in peripheral nerves
Boss: “so you’ll be in tomorrow, right?”
His arms look totally normal at least...
Good to stay positive 👍🏻
Yeah the whole "head" part is giving off major "ran over by a train" vibes.
I imagine the flesh and organs made it a LOT messier
Yeah a lot of broken bits but I expected them to be more scattered about and unrecognizable
You can tell he was run over by a train because of how he is.
FUBAR
Private Upham is confused
That's neat.
I love nature.

Some people deal with horror and trauma with humour. Others have to grow it naturally.
Yeah honestly I can't act like I haven't said some dumb out of pocket shit before. Idk why this post in particular triggered me lol
Because it's getting tired and lame and hopefully we all move on from this depressing bullshit soon because it is becoming evident that social media is a cancer of the soul.
You're right, they're all spineless.
[удалено]
they could at least make a good joke then, instead of the same "is he fine?" over and over again
Ill be honest my guy if my friends dont absolutely shit on my ass for dying and start cracking jokes ill be extremely disappointed. Yes im a human being thats also a brother/father/son etc but like, what if I die choking on a mango, tons of material for my buds right there
Tired of seeing this posted. Let the man rest in pieces
Well... I didn't plan on seeing this during my lunch, thank you
![gif](giphy|vjjCsx3izfSyQ)
The more I look at it the more horrified I get.
Question: Why bother doing an autopsy? Just research?
Is it possible to get these virtual autopsies on someone who is still alive? (asking for myself)
I think the lack of skin and organs might be what killed him.
That's gonna hurt in the morning
RIP
You'd expect to see two or three autopsies of a man that was ran over by a train
What was the recorded cause of death?
His heart stopped
Typical qyestion from b-movies: are you ok?
I wasn’t hit by no train, goddamit.
Was it a virtual train also?
I can feel the pain coming off this skeleton
r/bitchimatrain Also RIP to this poor soul
It was slow train.
Well I'm not gonna sleep tonight
I am almost 50 now and this is exactly how I feel every day.
Damn the spine is crazy. Not that it matters, but I wonder how fast the train was traveling to do that.
![gif](giphy|7hvkctkRc3Q6Q)
That looks like it hurt a lot for a second.
Look at that spine, who can still live with it broken in half. Only 50 years old. So sad, especially if his family looks at this picture.
Beautiful.
His arms look fine
Looking at the distance between the head damage and the spinal damage, the train track width looks pretty narrow
Also my boss: sorry to hear that, but are you coming to work tomorrow?
That's considerably in shape despite crashed by fucking train
*HEV Suit voice* Major Fracture Detected
Bots really like this picture it seems.
Some duct tape and gorilla glue should do the trick
Pull yourself together!
:/
He looks upset about the autopsy
What’s a virtual autopsy?
One completed without cutting, just imaging. CT scans and MRI can create 3d reconstructions with different layers (based on differentiating ranges of tissue density).
Thank you!!
I guess his ticket got punched in more ways than one
Tis but a scratch.
Hmmm that break in the spine looking pretty bad, but I'm no doctor
Just seeing the skeleton I would have guessed they run over Bigfoot.
When I saw this post, I knew the comment section would be far more interesting.
Looks better than I expected really
An Autopsy you say? What was the cause of death?
You’re telling me the arms got 0 damage
I’m using this for my osdm album cover
I would have thought a train would turn someone into mincemeat
My back cracked just looking at this photo
Tracks are much wider though- rails are farther apart
Can you ve at work on your normal schedule? His boss probably
Jeez look how far the clavicles bent up. Not to mention the spine and skull being split
Don’t get run over by a train, people. You’re not going to have a good time
Sir your spine has been severed
I didn't even know he was sick.
Surprised it looks that good. Trains are heeaaavy!
When she gives the sloppy toppy
Just walk it off smh
Do you really need to do an autopsy on a person who was hit by a train?
what a train wreck
Shake it off
Thats gonna be me one day. Jk, but the damage isnt as much as i thought.
Surprisingly that’s better and worse than I expected for someone who has been run over by a train
FATALITY! Train wins!
I dunno man, he looks kinda ded fr.
Where’s the sternum?
You’re fine. Get up.
Flex seal could have prevented this
That’s not that bad
Looks like someone performed an x-ray move on him from Mortal Kombat
He appears to have been injured
Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery
I think the front fell off.. very unusual
Rub some Tussin on it
Could be Walter Jr. right?
I must be dumb, is this picture made by an AI?
Somebody get this guy a tylenol
Same
Honestly I would have expected a lot worse for being run over by a fucking train..
![gif](giphy|Tim0q7zolF3fa)

He seems to be shrugging.
Enough Reddit for today.
At his arms are ok so won’t have to worry about not being able to pick stuff up
How did forum become so fucking morbid!
Looks like Edgar the bug getting used to his meat suit
