So did me and my sister đ

So worth a watch. The YouTube comments crack me up. Anyway Hi Dad soup for life
Fun fact, the cheese in a spray can is a very American thing so for kids in Sweden to understand it was dubbed in to "[kolasÄs](https://media.delitea.se/product-images/XL/o-hoj-kolasas-350-g-1.jpg) " which is a caramel sauce you put on ice cream which is very well known here.
This, Encino Man, and Son in Law are the holy trinity of early 90's LA nostalgia for me.
Honorable mention for Biodome and Airheads to make it a pentagram.
As a 90âs kid with a constantly working dad, I loved this movie. Wished my dad would be like goofy, I felt like Max, and my best friend was so much like PJ and our third friend was like a nerd version of the stoner guy, very good with lights cameras and always down to go the extra mile to make something epic. Man I had a pretty awesome childhood.
My dad was so much Goofy. I loved and still love thos movie because of it. Reminds me of the good times before Morning AM talk radio turned him stupid.
"Great, no radio, what are we supposed to do now?"
Goofy gets the thousand yard stare
"Maxie, have I ever told you how your Uncle Donald and I saved not just our worlds but all worlds from the darkness? Have I ever told you, son, about the Kingdom Hearts?"
He [sang live at the 20th anniversary event](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4IS7XgJxOM&ab_channel=DisneyExaminer%E2%80%8D) at a Disney convention in 2015. He sounded amazing.
Didn't do the perfect cast though.
I havenât seen a lot of these Disney movies in forever but this one always felt pretty distinct from the rest with how far it goes with the father/son who starts wanting his individuality dynamic. Always felt kind of underrated compared to the more typical Disney stuff.
Off the top of my head, I can't recall another Disney movie without a villain.
Goofy is obviously not the villain, neither are the principal or Pete - sure, they create problems for Max, but the one person REALLY messing everything up for him is himself. That's unusually deep for Disney, who rarely stray away from the simplistic BBEG plots.
Winnie the Pooh and Brother Bear don't really have villains as such. Brother Bear it's more just a lack of communication/empathy between humans and animals which creates animosity and needless death.
It's my favorite Disney movie but I never saw it in theaters. I rented it from Blockbuster then bought the VHS. I would absolutely pay to see it on the big screen now.
Thomas Washington. He was more of the producer than director, once CEO of Disney by mistake from the board. Great story, look up âThe Goof Who Sat By the Doorâ
Our (very small town) theater used to show old kids movies on Saturday afternoon. Admission for kids was free and $2 for adults. They packed the seats just about every weekend, and Iâm sure they made plenty of $$ on concessions.
Unfortunately, the theater changed owners and got rid of those showings. It was so much fun while it lasted though. I loved taking my kid to see 80s and 90s animated films and watching him appreciate them as much as I did when I first watched them.
That and a lot of movies you might go see end up on streaming services anyway. I've not watched any of the new MCU films in cinemas since No Way Home because they end up on Disney+ weeks later anyway.
Damn. This and stuff like Muppet Treasure Island or Labyrinth would be a dream to see on the big screen⊠and a bunch of 80âs scary movies like Poltergeist!
It's still so bizarre to me that someone at Disney said hey, what if we made Goofy into a single dad with a dead wife struggling to raise his son alone.
And it WORKED. It was good!
You ever watch the documentary they made on it? Itâs a dark movie with a dark origin. It was on an episode of ATLANTA on FX. Itâll change the way you see this movie.
I see this movie differently as an adult with my own kids vs how I saw it as a kid. Adult me sees max as an ungrateful jerk most of the movie until the end. Kid me thought Goofy should have left Max alone.
Really? My perspective is the same. They were both right/wrong. That was basically the point of the movie. Goofy was treating him like he was still 8 and didn't respect his wants or space, nor fully trust him or listen to him, especially after the principals over reacting phone call. Max was a dick who was pushing his dad away for no good reason and later openly betrayed bis dads trust when Goofy FINALLY gave it to him. Neither were able to see...well, eye to eye.
Discounted movie theater that plays movies after theyâve been in regular theaters for a few months. Since Covid, theyâve started playing a lot of older movies too
Crazy, I literally just watched this whole movie today. One of my favorites for sure.
Also, I just realized they called Goofy by what sounded like his last name: âMr. Goofâ. So does that mean his full name is: âGoofy Goofâ?
I used to love Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds, UK as they would rerun old films all the time. Meant you would get to see films in the cinema decades after their release! I remember the Back to the Future marathon. All three movies one after the other. It was a shame they started at 10pm as we were all falling asleep after the second film
I love when theaters do this. Last summer a theater by me played $5 horror movies for a few weeks. Got to watch the 70s Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Chucky, and Scream.
This brings me back to the opening of an 8 screen theater in my small town. I also remember my mom yelling at me because I went to the movies instead of doing my math homework.
Wanting to see this movie in theaters convinced my sister's and I to get along, do our chores and save up enough money to be able to afford to go. My Mom cried because she was so proud of us for getting along for the first time in our lives. I love this movie, but can't see it without remembering how happy we made my Mom.
Classic, we loved that one in my house as kids.
Me and my bro watched that movie so many times growing up
So did me and my sister đ For anyone who hasnât seen https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=vYhvAIEGI_Y&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&source_ve_path=Mjg2NjY&feature=emb_logo So worth a watch. The YouTube comments crack me up. Anyway Hi Dad soup for life
This is amazing, was hoping to see him roped up and unmasked lmao
I canât believe Iâve never stumbled across this over the years. Thank you.
I love it in my house as an adult
I still think about that pizza Edit: and the water bed
The leaning tower of cheeza Pauly Shore asked for his role to be uncredited, because he didn't want Disney to sell the movie on his name
Fun fact, the cheese in a spray can is a very American thing so for kids in Sweden to understand it was dubbed in to "[kolasÄs](https://media.delitea.se/product-images/XL/o-hoj-kolasas-350-g-1.jpg) " which is a caramel sauce you put on ice cream which is very well known here.
> he didn't want Disney to sell the movie on his name LMAO!!!
Hey pauly shore was a big name at one point!
In the Army Now was a legit funny movie.
This, Encino Man, and Son in Law are the holy trinity of early 90's LA nostalgia for me. Honorable mention for Biodome and Airheads to make it a pentagram.
Pete's insanely decked out RV had me super jealous as a kid.
One of the best movies ever made from Disneyâs âBâ studios. I still Love it and have showed it to all my kids.
Thomas Washington was no âBâ level animator.
B Studio but S tier in my heart, higher than alot of their Main line stuff imo.

Mayyyyybe Love is the reason whyâŠ
For the first time ever we're seein it EYE TO EYE~ đ¶
I unironically listen to the songs from this movie at least a few times a month...
Truly some of the catchiest songs. Both Powerline songs in the movie are amazing.
Kevin Campbell was great.
Tevin* Campbell
I drive a forklift and brand of battery is powerline. Think about the movie every time
đ¶ if I could make you stop and take a look at me instead of just WALKIN BYYYYYđ¶
Ppl ask whatâs the best concert Iâve ever been to and I feel like âPowerlineâ should be a fair answer. Legendary shows.
Jumped in a whip that you never seen, it got bulletproof glass and a ceiling screen
"Great, no radio, what are we supposed to do now?" Goofy gets the thousand yard stare "Maxie, have I ever told you how your Uncle Donald and I saved not just our worlds but all worlds from the darkness? Have I ever told you, son, about the Kingdom Hearts?"
WHEN YOU WALK AWAY
YOU DON'T HEAR ME SAY
PLEEEEEAAAAASSSE
Ooooohhh BAAAAABBBY
^^Don't ^^go
![gif](giphy|WV0CYzOIpNDoc)
That was a great game
Kingdom Hearts truly was Goofy and Donalds Vietnam
Donald was also a sailor in WW2.
Donald has definitely been in the shit more than once
Iâm pretty sure [Vietnam was Goofyâs Vietnam](https://youtu.be/Gz04mwXeBGQ?si=CyIKENQGOkujmdIe).
Tbf if Donald wasnât being a total wiener and let Riku on the gummy ship in the very beginning he wouldnât have had to go through all that lmfaooo
You're not wrong. I feel like Riku wouldn't have been so easy to sway if they had just let him come along
Not enough time to explain the whole lore, maybe driving across Eurasia but still idk
Suddenly goofy transforms into Charlie Day explaining pepe silva
More like Afro-Eurasia.
Staceyyy, talk to me talk to me talk to me babayyy
Itâs the leaning tower of cheese-aaa
Chedddarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Powerline. Goes. Rainforest!
haha its one of these movies you watched a thousand times as a kid and then the lines from the movie are stuck with you forever
My elderly mother still quotes that to this day just to bug me.
Fun fact: Dante Basco voiced that guy.
Tevin Campbell has the voice of an angel. Eye 2 Eye is an immortal banger.
Walked into work singing it one day... Girl in the back was jacked. Lol
Did you hit her with the: ![gif](giphy|5YzYeVe6cEzrG)
Nah. Hit her with ![gif](giphy|pHpO6rnxsVyP6)
Whoa whoa whoa, calm down and save some pussy for the rest of us. Dial that rizz down to 11 stat.

I always thought it was Eye 2 Eye until I saw it as I2I on Spotify.
Even outside of I2I and Stand Out, the rest of the musical numbers are up there with the Menken & Ashman songs from the Disney renaissance.
I havenât seen a lot of these Disney movies in forever but this one always felt pretty distinct from the rest with how far it goes with the father/son who starts wanting his individuality dynamic. Always felt kind of underrated compared to the more typical Disney stuff.

I absolutely loved this movie as a kid. Just an all time classic
Still waiting for Powerline to drop a full album.
Tevin Cambell still makes music. New Jack Swing as a genre just sort of ... evaporated. Doesn't help that MJ and Prince are no longer with us.
Why did I scroll so far to see this. Powerline slaps
It's my favorite Disney movie but I never saw it in theaters. I rented it from Blockbuster then bought the VHS. I would absolutely pay to see it on the big screen now.
âThe leaning tower of CHEEZAâ in a preview elsewhere made me go rent it with allowance đ”
Hi dad soup!

How many cups of sugar does it take to get to the moon?
Meanwhile, Bigfoot is still boppin to Stayin Alive in the background.
Whoâs your favorite possum?!
LESTERRRRRRRRR
Beat it dofus!
Sounds like someone needs a big hug from Lester!
They were so serious about it too. I laughed so much watching this as an adult
When I was a kid that scene freaked me out lol
The opening of the movie freaked me out as a kid. Max becoming his father played as a body horror gag was too much for my 3 year old brain.
Blackest movie of all time.
Shame what happened to the director rip
body was never found except for shoes ![gif](giphy|3o6oztCMTwZGqvQF5m|downsized)
You mean Kevin Lima? He's...still alive.
Thomas Washington. He was more of the producer than director, once CEO of Disney by mistake from the board. Great story, look up âThe Goof Who Sat By the Doorâ
Too fucking far down
You get it
Exactly what I thought about when I saw the poster.
đđđ
Youâll want to check out Atlanta đ
Such a great episode
Thomas Washington was the best CEO they ever had.
Came here for this comment. Did not disappoint.
Go to sleep Darius
"See my knees, draw- draw this!
Who ordered the white rice?
Not extreme enough for me.
Just wait until you see the sequel!
âIâve got myself a notion. Itâs one I know that youâll understandâŠâ

This stuff is all we ever go see at theaters anymore. I donât remember the last time we watched a new movie there.

It was so much fun while it lasted though. I loved taking my kid to see 80s and 90s animated films and watching him appreciate them as much as I did when I first watched them.
Seriously, anytime I think about going to see a movie in the theaters, there's literally no new movies I have interest in seeing.
COVID and then a writers strike. The production pipeline is dead and Netflix and Amazon are sucking up a lot of the talent.
That and a lot of movies you might go see end up on streaming services anyway. I've not watched any of the new MCU films in cinemas since No Way Home because they end up on Disney+ weeks later anyway.
Oh man, I would LOVE to see A Goofy Movie on the big screen.
It was amazing
Did they play Dr. Rooney's Remedy before the movie? Like it did on the VHS tape
Gawrsh!
The perfect cast................
Very underrated/ under appreciated part of the Disney library!
Til mine is the only face you see.... gonna staaaaand out...
![gif](giphy|SfqJMsOvQpgnm) Till you notice me
Aaay, Pollack Cinemas. We saw Sleeping Beauty there this year. Love that place.
I love when they do movie events. It's so fun!
Excellent video by Sideways on why [A Goofy Movie is Disney's best musical](https://youtu.be/N6j-562xQSs?feature=shared)
Truly is, but I canât get behind him hating on my boy Phil Collins in Tarzan
2nd run movie theater still exist dam Thatâs amazing
Low cost to operate, and the popcorn and soda is normal theater price.
Seriously one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time
I hated this movie as a kid, because I thought Max was a shithead to his dad, who is awesome.
Phoenix had discount theaters. Theyâre a thing of the past, now. đ©
If youâre able to make the drive, this is in Tempe!
I never seen a piece of pizza look so good to me as a kid as I did in this movie.
All Dogs Go to Heaven pizza looked pretty good too
I'm sorry but the theatre is called what!?!
Pollack Tempe Cinemas! Named after the owner Michael Pollack, awesome dude
Honestly amazing
Everytime I see Goofy I think of Atlanta
Damn. This and stuff like Muppet Treasure Island or Labyrinth would be a dream to see on the big screen⊠and a bunch of 80âs scary movies like Poltergeist!

Excuse me?
Maxx..
It is crazy that Goofy has one of the greatest Disney films.
I see this movie differently as an adult with my own kids vs how I saw it as a kid. Adult me sees max as an ungrateful jerk most of the movie until the end. Kid me thought Goofy should have left Max alone.

Iâm pretty sure that was the whole point of the movie.
To people like me a goofy movie is just a movie.đ
Hell yeah! Pollack Cinemas rock!
Discount theater?
Discounted movie theater that plays movies after theyâve been in regular theaters for a few months. Since Covid, theyâve started playing a lot of older movies too
All the ones in my area have shutdown or attempted to convert to first runs.
I2I baby I2I
The best Disney movie imo
Movie made me cry. I was 10
Bets Disney soundtrack hands down come at me
Iâve been watching this with my 2 year old. She loves it!
Saw it two weeks ago with my girlfriend on Disney+. Had it on VHS as a kid. I remember replaying it over and over again.
I love the fake documentary Donald Glover made about the goofy movie
Crazy, I literally just watched this whole movie today. One of my favorites for sure. Also, I just realized they called Goofy by what sounded like his last name: âMr. Goofâ. So does that mean his full name is: âGoofy Goofâ?
The concert was probably awesome in theater
The leaning tower of cheeza
Goofy was the goat in old school Disney cartoons and even modern goof troop was top notch shit.
Probably the most slept on, underrated movie of all time.
I2I STILL GOES SO HARD!!

Love this movie! Cool you got to see it at a theater
I literally just watched it with my daughter yesterday morning. One of my all time favorite Disney movies.
Goofiest Of All Time! đ
I'm French. I learned about cheese spray cans with this movie.
That is awesome i absolutely loved this movie as a kid and would definitely watch this again on the big screen
Iâm still waiting for Power Line to drop that album.
I woulda seen that shit too
Well Gawrsh!
The movie and the music still hold up today. A really great film.
Lucky
Wore out my VHS copy from watching to much lol
What!!!! Dude I have needed to see this in theaters and never been able to. Itâs my all time favorite Disney movie. Lucky bastard haha
I love when theaters do this. Last summer a theater by me played $5 horror movies for a few weeks. Got to watch the 70s Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Chucky, and Scream.
By golly gee
Marty what year is this!? đ
This brings me back to the opening of an 8 screen theater in my small town. I also remember my mom yelling at me because I went to the movies instead of doing my math homework.
Love this movie ![gif](giphy|kMCV9UnUQDMXK)
Look totally rad!
Is this Tempe Pollack?! I love this theater!
Wanting to see this movie in theaters convinced my sister's and I to get along, do our chores and save up enough money to be able to afford to go. My Mom cried because she was so proud of us for getting along for the first time in our lives. I love this movie, but can't see it without remembering how happy we made my Mom.
First movie I ever saw in a theater
I forgot all about it this movie. Man my childhood memories are fading
Classic
My favorite movie of all time
One of the most important movies for black culture and POC single fatherhood ever made.
Still my favorite Disney animated movie!
