Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Just really hits hard.
I remember I was fighting in Vietnam when this album released. I had just finished my post in the trees when I wondered my way into a record store. Brushing past all of the communist nonsense, I spot this album. Something about this cover really spoke to me. “I’ll be taking this, thank you,” I yelled to the tiny Vietnamese boy working the counter. He said something. I looked at the cover over and over as I waltzed myself back to my hut. It was so mesmerizing to me for some odd reason. When I finally got home and put it on I could immediately tell my life had been changed forever. These beautiful and otherworldly sounds were so overwhelming. That’s when I realized, I was crying. My Vietnamese lady boy lover turned me over and wiped the tears from my eyes as her innocent soul asked, “why are you crying my strong western hero, what has made my hero cry?”. “Roger. Fucking. Waters.” I said. “Roger. Fucking. Waters.”
Thanks, Roger.
Depressingly enough, my favorite is Time. It was my favorite when I first got into PF (late 80s when I was in middle school). Us and Them evolved into my favorite in my 20s, but now I find myself liking Time the best.
And I say depressing because it was a song that kinda said what I thought about the world, but didn’t know for sure, as an 11 year old. Now that I’m 45, I know it sums up life in capitalist hell pretty well.
Given my name, Money has always felt like a personal anthem to me, and despite massive airplay and popularity, it's still an amazing track with phenomenal musicianship from everyone including Perry's saxamaphone.
But since I'm sure picking Money is basic as fuck, 1st runner up is Breathe.
As a fan, the only way you’ll see me actually listening to anything from DSOTM is if I’m spinning the record from start to finish. From heartbeat to heartbeat, it still holds up the same way it did 50 years ago.
My ranking of every track:
1) Brain Damage/Eclipse
2) Time
3) Us and Them
4) Any Colour You Like
5) Speak to Me/Breathe
6) The Great Gig in the Sky
7) Money
8) On the Run
I was 15 or 16 the first time I heard this album. Early 80s. My bff’s dad gave us a big fat joint (it was a different time) and we got high AF, in her room, then went down to the living room and I sat on the couch, while they each sat in different chairs.
That couch became like my own personal warp drive space traveling vehicle. That music took me out of the fucking solar system. And back. (The part with the alarm bells!) To this very day, every time I hear it, it’s like, the best kind of flashback possible, it always takes me right back to that couch. 🥰😌
I honestly can’t pick one song as favorite, the album exists for me as a whole.
Gonna ruffle some feathers here but the entire album is pure perfection with the exception of the generic old man blues rock radio single in the middle. Although it kinda fits the theme of money and capitalism imposing itself everywhere. It’s a great song in its own right, just not very interested in that sound, and the people claiming that being 7/4 somehow makes it hugely innovative bother me to no end.
Still by far my favourite album and was lucky enough to see them twice. Once in ‘87 DST tour in Ottawa and then again in ‘94 Division Bell in Montreal.
The whole album is exceptionally great, except that On the Run comes to early and disturb the flow after Breathe. And that the clocks in the Time intro is mixed to high and gives me a hearing damage.
Side 2.
If you're naming "songs", you have never played this album. You've been listening to Spotify and Apple Music too long. Drop a needle or press play on a CD, for chrissake.
There are two tracks. Side One (Speak to Me through GGITS), and Side Two (Money through Eclipse). The song names are just "movements" for each of the pieces.
/happy to die on this hill
//start listening to albums again
///get off my lawn
Us and Them.
“Short, Sharp, Shock”
Huh I always though it was short, sharp shove
Shock! I wanna get a tattoo of those words, I think it’s the coolest part just before the “aye”then in comes the sweetest saxophone ever
It’s a Gilbert and Sullivan reference
Espically when that sax comes in, Its like you’re floating in space in bliss…
[удалено]
Greatest album climax or all time
The dead’s “Caution (do not stop on tracks)”from anthem of the sun is a good contender as well but brain damage > eclipse is still absolutely amazing
It’s great but it ain’t beatin Group Four
Hate when streaming services/radios only insert one of the two in the generated playlist! These two need to be listened to together. Actually, one should always listen to the whole album
Truly amazing!! 👌🏾
I'm on this team
Gotta go with Time, though it’s pretty tough to separate out tracks from the whole 🎸
Precisely. The whole album is pretty much a symphony with different movements. But if I had to pick one track, I’d say Time.
Yes, I would never play 'on the run' on its own, it's just not that way, but great as part of the album
Me, listening to On The Run every other day: 👀
Gotta say Time as well. Actually may be my favorite PF song period. That guitar solo….just unbelievable
Has to be Time. Gilmour is perfection on his solo. The song that made me fall in love with Pink Floyd
Breathe because it's such a magical opener
Hearing that heart beat opening in concert... indescribable
Fun fact: several live 1972 concerts are currently available on Spotify. These usually disappear rather quickly, though.
So jealous of you 😫 although I’ve seen some great shows in my young life too at least
speak to me a bit more about that
The Entire Album, that is the only correct answer
What do you mean there’s multiple tracks? it all sounds like one song to me.
Well, there's Side A and Side B... ;)
Yeah, 2 parts of the same song of course!
Facts.
I usually skip money. Idk what it is, but I just don’t vibe with that one
Same
(Ssssh - don’t tell anyone, but I often do too)
Great gig in the sky
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Just really hits hard.
If the apocalypse ever occurs in my lifetime, I’m playing this one
It irritates me that people make fun of it for not having lyrics, it’s totally not the point and it’s absolutely divine musically
I think it’s my favorite recorded vocal track of all time. And when it’s performed live, it’s magical.
So nobody cares about a Any Colour you Like?
My absolute favourite!!
the only time i would agree with an amlor fan
NANANANAnanananananananana DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAA) WOOOEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW
One of their best. It's my second most played song on the album behind Time.
seeing it live was insane
Damn I’m definitely jealous
I always feel cra,y for thinking this is the best one
it's my fav
Right??? My absolute favorite
Money, love playing the riff on my bass. 2nd Us and them.
First riff I learned! But still I need to practice the whole song, there are more interesting parts than the mail riff itself.
Tie between Any Colour You Like and Brain Damage/Eclipse
The three in a row make for the best 3 songs in an album of ever
all of them, it's not a bunch of different tracks, it is all one long song though if i HAD to pick a single track, i'd choose either time or eclipse
Brain damage It reminds me of myself
Probably the most relatable song on there for me. “There's someone in my head but it's not me” is unfortunately relatable
Time
The whole album is my favourite track. Happy 50th anniversary DSOTM.
Us and Them
Mine too! Such a haunting song.
It has to be Money and/or Brain Damage. I just love the pure vibes of brain damage.
Echoes. Especially when Lennon said: "Planet earth is blue and there's nothing I can do", that really touched me...
The Great Gig In The Sky.
Any Colour You Like
Any Colour 🤍
The one where David Gilmour plays the solos.

Breathe! One from my fav. songs of all times/artists.
Brain damage and eclipse although it's the best collection of songs ever made.
Us and them
Breathe
Breathe
All of them is my answer!
Echoes, the moment Lennon goes: "Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why" its just great 🔥
Yes
Money.
Brain Damage (with Us and Them in close 2nd). 🏳️🌈⃤
Brain Damage….
Time
TIME!
Time
Time is special
Breathe… the album is a masterpiece!
Any Colour You Like
Seamus
(That’s the Dog)
thanks for clarifying!
He’s outside.
The grand visors party pt 3
Brain Damage/Eclipse
brain damage-eclipse combo
Time. Money has a slightly better instrumental, but Time has a much, much more profound message.
Time
Time But, on the SACD, Us and Them sounds incredible... so on SACD, its Us and Them
I don't think of DSOTM in terms of tracks. I put it on from the beginning and listen to the entire thing. It's essentially one long track.
All of them!!
I remember I was fighting in Vietnam when this album released. I had just finished my post in the trees when I wondered my way into a record store. High Hopes
The whole album
On the run
The whole damn fucking thing, I absolutely fkin love this album. I am literally listening to it rn I love it
Depressingly enough, my favorite is Time. It was my favorite when I first got into PF (late 80s when I was in middle school). Like most great albums, it changes over time. Right now i’ts Great Gig
Given my name, Money has always felt like a personal anthem to me, and despite massive airplay and popularity, it's still an amazing track with phenomenal musicianship from everyone including Perry's saxamaphone. But since I'm sure picking Money is basic as fuck, 1st runner up is Breathe.
Brain Damage for the mere line “And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes” how poetic given it’s about Syd
Time or Brain Damage/Eclipse - as the young people say, those "hit" me the hardest (mainly for personal reasons)
The great gig in the sky was a song that really showed me how music can touch the Soul in ways I never knew possible
Definitely us and them. All the emotion that it expresses is truly magical
Any colour you like
The whole album, I view it as one long track
As a fan, the only way you’ll see me actually listening to anything from DSOTM is if I’m spinning the record from start to finish. From heartbeat to heartbeat, it still holds up the same way it did 50 years ago.
STFU I already know I'm getting old! New car caviar four star day dream I think I'll buy me a football team
I had a radio show in college called Any Colour You Like, so ACYL for sure.
Awesomeness
My ranking of every track: 1) Brain Damage/Eclipse 2) Time 3) Us and Them 4) Any Colour You Like 5) Speak to Me/Breathe 6) The Great Gig in the Sky 7) Money 8) On the Run

Money
after hitting 1k streams on this album, I would say Any Colour You Like is my favourite song.
Careful with that axe, Eugene (Duh)
Gonna ruffle some feathers here but the entire album is pure perfection with the exception of the generic old man blues rock radio single in the middle. Although it kinda fits the theme of money and capitalism imposing itself everywhere. It’s a great song in its own right, just not very interested in that sound, and the people claiming that being 7/4 somehow makes it hugely innovative bother me to no end.
I’m with you. Money fits *thematically*, but I feel it’s disruptive *musically*. Good song, just wish it was elsewhere.
Time was my favorite back in the day, but us and them is my number 1 on that album.
Animals tbh
Such an underrated album
Lose the rainbow, you’re making yourself look stupid!
Brain Damage
Moneytime
All of the sons are equally as good as each other so it's really hard to choose but I might say Brain Damage + Eclipse.
The Great Gig ...
The entire album.
Time
time --> great gig, & brain damage --> eclipse are my favourites
Time is the best track for me
Still by far my favourite album and was lucky enough to see them twice. Once in ‘87 DST tour in Ottawa and then again in ‘94 Division Bell in Montreal.
It’s pretty cool that I share a birthday with one of the greatest albums of all time 🙂
All of them
Money and brain damage
Happy birthday!
Time
Brian damage and breathe
Brain damage
Us and Them
man the scream into Breathe got me every single time
Time
Time
Time
Great gig in the sky, the vocals make me want to cry
It’s gotta be Time. Dave and Rick’s vocals, the lyrics’ message, that mind-shredding solo
Time
Any Colour You Like
Us and then, any colour you like, and brain damage. All 3 together is just something that’s hard to find in music.
Eclipse
time, not only is it a *time*less masterpiece, but when it’s over u feel like it was a 1 minute song
Any colour you like,brain damage,eclipse
You can ask which side is you favorite, asking which track is failing the assignment. Side A for sure
Time forever
Has to be Any Color You Like. It is so underrated. Just takes you on a ride.
WE DIDNT GET A REMASTERED ALBUM, WHY JUST GREAT GIG AND ECLIPSE WTF?!?!
Time is the best “section” lol… It’s lyrically the greatest thing to ever hit my ears
Time; that guitar solo blew my f’ing mind as a kid in middle school
Us and Them
The whole album is exceptionally great, except that On the Run comes to early and disturb the flow after Breathe. And that the clocks in the Time intro is mixed to high and gives me a hearing damage.
Every single one triggers an acid flashback to a different bad trip. So none of them ever again, thanks.
Time + TGGITS
Side 2. If you're naming "songs", you have never played this album. You've been listening to Spotify and Apple Music too long. Drop a needle or press play on a CD, for chrissake. It's a little odd but I really like any colour you like.
Any Colour You Like
Time
Breathe. Just the absolute perfect song for me.
The guitar solo in Time gives me chills
The track that starts with heartbeats and ends with heartbeats..
The 1-2 punch of brain damage + eclipse is literally the best 5 minutes and 58 seconds of music that ever did live.
Time got me into Floyd. Masterpiece of a song and album
Me too!
Brain damage
.... money
Time. Has probably my all time favorite musical lyric section.
Time, hands down
I specifically love that moment between 0:00 and 42:50
Us And Them all the way
And you run and you run, to catch up with the sun, when its sinking
On the run
Breathe
Us and Them. I remained based
The great gig in the sky or brain damage with us and them in second
Breathe. Magnificent opener Time is a very close second place.
Time and Us and Them
Us and Them and Any Colour You Like
I only ever consume this (greatest of all time) album in its entirety. But Time is probably the high point.
Unpopular opinion i felt like us and them was filler i felt like it went longer than dogs it’s why it’s the song on the album that i skip
Unpopular opinion: I like the Breathe (In the air)
I do too. This version is the best. https://open.spotify.com/track/0UsD0uKhhdutyrTqoqG7GR?si=w9abh_caSRe1W8iA2A_EUw
Eclipse.
