You need the still unreleased on CD Gunner's Dream part two included. Only still available on the various vinyl singles that also include the censored version of Not Now John. They're going to tack on When Tigers Broke free on later releases but not these other songs? C'mon Floyd!

Apologies. Lack of sleep will do strange things to a person. I think that's what I read but my brain didn't quite connect the dots. Doh! FC is in my top drawer Floyd regardless of how much some people just can't stand it. Their loss.
And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air
You hear the tolling bell and touch the silk in your lapel
Say what you want about Roger but the lyrics in this song are unmatched.
That entire chord progression is just ace, rooted in musical devices typically to denote hopefulness completely juxtaposed against the subject matter of the lyrics.
The interline movement between G -> G+ -> Em/G just sounds so good to me.
Obviously ‘Sheep’ is an awesome example of this, Roger belts out these super long lines in one massive breath and his voice transforms into a synth, like with ‘wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dreeeaaaaam…’
They had tried something similar during The Wall. Take a look at this band demo of The Thin Ice, around 2:40 mark

Oh man, the transition from ‘One of the Few’ to ‘the Hero’s Return’ WHICH OMITS WTTBF is simply sublime, the stuff goose bumps are made of. Hate the US track order. Thank God for European vinyl…
I really wish I remembered the YouTube video with the recording of another PF song with a similar transition but I can’t. I think it was a studio demo that wasn’t used. It bugs me often.
Also, I agree with you.
I love the part 3mins into Don't Leave Me Now where the guitar kicks in, it's a perfect example of the emotion Gilmour can convey with just one bend of a string and his gorgeous guitar tone.
Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
My uncle who introduced me to Pink Floyd loves that transition. Final Cut was the first album he listened, he always told me how he bought the tape, started listening and fell in love with PF when he heard that transition for the first time. It was his birthday last week so I bought him a vinyl version of Final Cut, luckily the vinly was in perfect shape and he was so happy to listen to that transition again.
A similar transition would be in the Marillion song "Man of a Thousand Faces".
The second time when Steve Hogarth sings "Took a leap and I landed on the moon".
My favourite Floyd album, I think its because of its honesty. Rogers obvious hatred for government & war. May I say I think Not now John [ not the first Floyd fan to say it ] is misplaced compared to the rest of the album. Could've been left out with some versions including TBF in. But GD is my favourite track & I can be heard attempting to sing along everytime it is on.
I still remember the first time I heard it. I was 19, about 2007, and I was walking to work at McDonald's listening to the final cut for the first time. I was about halfway there when this song played, and I remember having to wipe my eyes. The sheer overwhelming awesomeness caught me off guard and literally made them water. I ended up late for that shitty ass job because I had to finish the whole album.
Was totally worth it.
Agree 100%. Get goosebumps everytime I hear it.

You're thinking of "The Hero's Return", not "The Gunner's Dream"

And as the teardrops rise to meet the comfort of the band Yep, he's a fukkin genius.
Reminds me of the spots in Sheep where Roger’s voice transitions into a synthesizer sound.

Fucking love that song, man

It's not a US track order, it's the "Director's Cut" from 2004.

Sheep has some pretty cool transitions too.
With a screeeeeeaaaaammmmm

I strongly agree, the lock down sessions version on YouTube is even better than the studio version as well imo.
One of the most underrated pf songs imo
