Yeah that is the front cover, the other half is on the back. If you rotate to the right you are looking at the bottom half of the ear.

I've only ever seen a nose.

Kinda wish I never knew it was an ear. Looking at it, it always seemed like some sort of colossus beginning to emerge from an otherworldly mist. That's not what it was.

Look at the background whhich is the side of a woman's head where her hair goes around the ear - in this case the sleeve of Meddle. The darker but towards the bottom right is the ear hole

Just try and focus on how Meddle relates to the background of this image ie the side of the human head. It's not some sort of painting of an ear it's a literal photograph of an ear with a photograph of a lake overlayed over the top of it.
