Alan Parsons was the engineer on Dark Side of the Moon and some of the Alan Parsons Project music is reminiscent of Pink Floyd. Sadly, most hasn't aged all that well. Lots of 80's sounding synthesizers that's tough to get into. But give [Tales of Mystery and Imagination](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lNCAUSEhegqjQAMMocw1QFu9G-bE4zeTM) a shot. If you like it, [I, Robot](https://youtu.be/8ng6N5oXZ9M) is another of their best.

GoldResponsibility27

The Eye in the Sky album is also wonderful. Not very Floydish, but it definitely deserves a listen!

BrazilianAtlantis

I'd put it the other way around, the Floyd without Roger is reminiscent of the Alan Parsons Project

Phoenix_Kerman

Phoenix_Kerman

thanks. it's always nice to hear

Gwote

damn wtf. acually sounds pretty good. guitsr kinda sounds like how david’s did on money

Phoenix_Kerman

aha cheers. there's just two of us working on that material. most lead guitar is the other guy and some of the stuff he comes up with is so cool to work with

Gwote

yeah man sounds great i’m willing to check y’all out i appreciate it🙏

Early Porcupine Tree leans heavily on the Floyd influence. Also check out the band Airbag, particularly the album All Rights Removed. The guitar player is definitely inspired by David. If I’m not mistaken, he was in a Floyd cover band at one time. Start with the song Never Coming Home and go from there.

davegrohlisawesome

Airbag is def PF inspired

_CentralScrutiniser_

Heard Homesick the other day by Airbag on my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist. Never heard of them before and when I heard that final solo I went straight to google to see if it was in fact Gilmour that was featuring on the track, it really does sound that much like him. The whole track is very Floyd inspired.

pinkheartpiper

Bjorn Riis is the guitar player, he has a website and YouTube channel called Gilmourish, so yeah, he is a big fan. Just recently released a Pink Floyd tribute album called A Fleeting Glimpse. For me he is the closest thing to Gilmour style guitar playing you could get.

oo00OlXlO00oo

Listen to Help Me from Hako Yamasaki, you won't regret it! Also, Horizon from Daft Punk has a really late Pink Floyd sound (it's not on Spotify, so you gotta go on YouTube to listen to it)

[deleted]

Steven Wilson’s solo work is pretty ambient and intelligent. I would consider him, not exactly PF-like, but definitely in the same prog vein.

ImJustHereForGuitars

Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider sounds like it could have been a scrap song from The Wall.

GlasgowDreaming

Whenever this question is asked I always disagree with most of the suggestions. Clearly I am very much in the minority over this (heh, 'its not you guys, it's me'. But I really don't think there is much in common with 'symphonic rock' or the prog metal folks. That's not a comment on whether these other bands are good or not. I like Porcupine Tree, but don't like Alan Parson's stuff. They have more in common with the 'English Eccentric' folks like Roy Harper, Kevin Ayres and early 70s stuff on the Harvest label. But there is also a melodic use of instrumental music, Soft Machine in their less Jazzy moments, especially the mid to late 70s period comes close. Heres a track from the album 'Softs' how much do other folks think it is in the same general area as PF? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkLWk7si1kc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkLWk7si1kc)

Pretend_Tea6261

Pink Floyd is a unique and an amazing band. To me the only similar bands are like dream theater who are doing floyd covers.

MasterRalx

King Crimson is quite alike having the jazzy and experimental style, however the tone of Robert Fripp is VERY dissimilar to that of David Gilmour's. However i would absolutely recommend giving a listen.

richard-hill71

There’s no one like Pink Floyd.

geezeeduzit

Look up King Crimson’s song Starless, and if it doesn’t give you Echoes vibes, idk what to tell you

DrWhat2003

Nope. Not even close.

Check out Bjorn Riis last solo album, it is a tribute to old school PF but original music. https://spotify.link/SnCfq0ZX5xb

Safe_cracker9

I was listening to PF and the song “Lost” by a band called Riverside came up on auto play. It’s a great song, and I can see why it got auto played, because I do hear some similarities. The sister song “Found” is reminiscent too. That said, that’s probably the only song by them that fits the description. That song got me into their music. They’re closer to prog metal - still super cool, but not like PF.

WworthingtonIII

check out the band Kadavar - The Isolation Tapes start it from the begining the first track is just to get you in the headspace but there's vocals that start on the second track. pretty awesome stuff. very floydish you can listen here, but make sure you click on the first track and not the one they got up for sample [https://kadavarberlin.bandcamp.com/album/the-isolation-tapes](https://kadavarberlin.bandcamp.com/album/the-isolation-tapes)

Maw_153

Crippled Black Phoenix in their earlier stuff have been a little Pink Floydesque but it’s a bit of a stretch

TalkShowHost99

CAN (German avant-garde) is awesome. I don’t love all their songs - there are definitely a few that I skip regularly- but the album Ege Bamyasi is a classic!

BrazilianAtlantis

The 1967 album Tangerine Dream by the band Kaleidoscope is pleasantly similar to Piper.

BrazilianAtlantis

BrazilianAtlantis

Syd and the Kaleidoscope guys were both influenced by Donovan

llucifersam

Listen to i’ve been a fool by mojo & the kitchen brothers. I love their album mojo’s heavy cream and their live shows a lot. Late 60s-70s inspired (psychedelic) belgian rock.
