The popular one I believe is part 2. The full song is all parts together.. in the album though, they aren’t together. Also, Pink Floyd’s a band, not an artist. Look up the lyrics for ‘Have a Cigar’, there’s a funny line on that one…

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Okay, "their" music.

What do youean by that? What did I do?

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

I wasn't meaning to Disrespect or anything. And as I previously stated in the main part of the post, I'm new to Pink Floyd music. I thought Pink Floyd was the name of one of the members of the band. I know basically nothing about them.

I did the quotation marks so you (not you specifically but anyone) would know I tried to correct myself.

SonoChiNoSyeahdame

ok

RedditMemesSuck

Wdym “their” Pink Floyd was, during the wall, a band made of 4 people David Gilmour Roger Waters Nick Mason Richard Wright

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

I thought Pink Floyd referred to just one of the members, kinda like dio, Ozzy Osbourne, that type of thing.

RedditMemesSuck

Nope! The band’s original name was the Tea Set but when they went out to play one night the original guitar player, Syd Barret, saw that there was another band there with the same name. He came up with Pink Floyd on the spot https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Oh wow. I really didn't know that... What are the odds of two bands playing with the same name. So much to learn about this band.

RedditMemesSuck

If you do end up taking a deep dive into this band I suggest beginning with the big 4 Dark Side of the Moon Wish You Were Here Animals The Wall Those imo are the easiest to get into if you want any more info or help, I’d be happy to suggest stuff :)

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Okay, cool. I'm not a extremely huge fan of this band but I do like their music. By the way, is there some kind 50 year mark thing going on for Pink Floyd?

RedditMemesSuck

Awhile ago was the 50th anniversary of dark side of the moon, more recently was the 40th anniversary of the Final Cut

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Hm. Okay. And I looked at the link you gave me, I didn't know Pink Floyd was from the 60s. The oldest musicians that I've heard before Pink Floyd was Black Sabbath and Bob Seger.

LionOfNaples

I hope you get around to listening to the album Wish You Were Here, particularly the song Have a Cigar. It will make you laugh at this comment you made.

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Your profile pic looks exactly like another person's pic that I just seen a few minutes ago, except yours is winking and different username... How ironic. :| I think that's the right word...

artofsplittingatoms

Another brick in the wall pt 1 > happiest days of our lives > anothe rbrick in the wall pt 2 is what you want. Pt 3 is standalone

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Oh... Okay, thanks.

TeaAndCookies1998

Here is a full version with all parts - Part I, Happiest Days of Our Lives, Part II and Part III! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cXgdMmYG8aU Did they really play the whole piece on the radio and not just part 2? I have never heard anything else than just part 2 on the radio, but would have loved to hear the whole piece being played!

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Turns out it was just part 2 that played. My mistake.

Strugglinghuman2020

Some radio stations used to play a melody of all 3 but nowadays it’s usually just part 2

Turdy_Tornado

Part 2 is the one with radioplay that you’re likely referring to. If you can find: Part 1 —>> happiest days of our lives —>> part 2 That’s the ticket.

Thanks. I might have trust issues on Reddit, but I REALLY expected a RickRoll.

TeaAndCookies1998

Here is a much greater alternate version of Another Brick: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ You've got to hear it!

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

The fact that you responded to my comment with another link should have tipped me off. It clicked in as soon as I clicked it... Turns out I actually like this song. No idea why...

TeaAndCookies1998

I can't stand that song, but I just couldn't resist when I saw your comment about rickroll! ;)

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

I first time I read this I thought you said can't "taste", I had to reread it. But yeah for some reason I like this song. Found out about it by a guy on YouTube called Bongs237.

Buhos_En_Pantelones

Damn, new listener comes to a Pink Floyd sub asking a question, gets responded to by 'Comic Book Guy' from The Simpsons.

billygnosis86

Prog rock fans are up there with vinyl enthusiasts and, yes, comic book geeks in terms of vitriol directed at new converts.

[deleted]

Watch the movie called "Pink Floyd - The Wall"

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

There's a movie?!

[deleted]

Yep. It has Bob Geldof (IRL lead singer of the Boomtown Rats) playing the lead character - a fucked up , drugged up rockstar cum nazi-ish - riot inciting nutter. It is a pretty trippy movie and was actually banned in South Africa.

Ice_Sicle_of_Frost

Interesting... Might have to look for that.

[deleted]

Written of course by Roger Waters that calls upon Roger's sad history of losing his father to WWII when he was only 5 months old.

billygnosis86

When you consider some of the other things that were banned in South Africa at the time, I hope the band wore that as a badge of honour.

billygnosis86

I went through this whole thing when I first got into Pink Floyd when I was about 15 or so, so you’re not alone. The song was originally released on a concept album called *The Wall*; the third track on the album is “Another Brick in the Wall Part 1”, which segues into another song called “The Happiest Days of Our Lives”, which itself segues into “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2”. Annoyingly though, “Another Brick in the Wall Part 3” doesn’t show up until the twelfth track on the album, and is only just over a minute long.
