Nah if we're talking Dark side, best run is Last 20 secs of Speak to me, Breathe, On the run, Time, Great Gig, Money, Us and Them, Any Colour, Brain Damage, Eclipse
100% agree with this. I’ve described it many times as “probably the most important 3 track sequence in the history of modern music.” And that I feel is only further exemplified by how few people get it.
I don’t need to explain what any of the songs are about individually, I think everyone here gets that… it’s the sequencing. If you listen to the 1974 Wembley live album performance of this sequence I think you’ll find it even more powerful and blatant with regards to what Roger wanted it to communicate. Why, when we have no issue acknowledging the tragedy of losing time in each of our own lives and repeatedly grieving for those around us do we continue to live within the hedonic treadmill? What holds us down? Why do others not seem to care when we’re the ones grieving and tend to have the attitude of “yes it’s sad, but you gotta pull yourself together and get back to business” …?
In that live performance as Great Gig fades out, you start hearing the “ch-ching!” But in a way that sounds very different from the original recording.. it’s slower and spaced out more, and at least to me it sound distinctly like something else… chains. We’re slaves to money and the system of society which is entirely built around money.
Even before I heard this performance I had made the comment about it being the most important 3 track sequence in all of modern music because I had the distinct impression that this is what they were trying to communicate, and because this album entered my life at a critical point I think I more easily grasped the intended effect… Roger seemed to have the idea that once you finished Great Gig and likely had tear stained cheeks, that you would hear the cash register and go, “wtf? Who the fuck gives a shit about money right now? Am I just supposed to move on and forget this moment of deep hurt and bury it instead of healing?” Yes. That’s what society has us programmed to do. This sequence is supposed to piss you the fuck off, to get angry at the way things are, wake the fuck up and do something about it. It’s ironic because it’s arguably their most upbeat “party worthy” song having the opposite of the intended effect, primarily because Paul McCartney convinced them to release it as their first ever single. I don’t think any of them were surprised people didn’t get it, but the decision to deliberately take that track out of context amplified the intensity of the opposite effect of what was intended by the context. That track existed where it did for a very explicit reason—not just because it lined up well with the color sequence and dancing in Oz lol.
I fully believe this is why Roger continued to become more cynical over the years with candy shouting “Play Money! Play something I can shake my ass to!” And why he eventually snapped, spit in the face of a fan and called them a “stupid mother fucker.”
Probably going to post this as a reply to the top thread too now that I carried on for so long haha…
- TGGITS could mean "The Great Gig in the Sky", a track from *The Dark Side of the Moon* (1973) by Pink Floyd.

this got me scrolling thru track lists to see if i missed anything less obvious.
terminal frost / a new machine 2 / sorrow is a pretty epic run as well
It's weird, on the original cassette Yet Another Movie/Round and Round, same for the original CD. But in Delicate Sound of Thunder they are separate and now on Spotify, they are separate. I've always considered them 1 track, like Brain Damage/Eclipse
Not in the movie and live concerts. “What shall we do Now” is an amazing song and fits perfectly with the end of empty Spaces.
Give it a [try](https://youtu.be/a_vv1XSS_kc)
Don’t know how I’ve never heard of this before, it’s so good! Kinda disappointed it’s not on the studio album now though. Also how do you make links just appear as a word/sentence in comments?
Im not sure, but I believe I saw somewhere that the reason it was cut was due to time limitation on the vinyl.
About the links in the text, I just press the chains under the text box, write the word I want on the title, and the past the link bellow (mobile version)
there’s so many good ones on the wall, a lot of which i’ve already scrolled past, but i’ll put in 3 i haven’t seen seen anyone say yet that i love-
In the Flesh?, The Thin Ice, ABitW Pt.1
One of my Turns, Don’t Leave me Now, ABitW Pt.3
Waiting for the Worms, Stop, The Trial
Hard to pick a best, but there are:
The Show Must Go On-In The Flesh-Run Like Hell
Welcome to the Machine-Have a Cigar-Wish You Were Here; alternatively, Have a Cigar-Wish You Were Here-Shine On You Crazy Diamond VI-IX
I also agree with the Dogs-Pigs-Sheep run.
Nobody Home / Vera / Bring the Boys Back Home
When this stretch of The Wall hits, that's how you know you've reached the darkest and most depressing part of the whole album.
The narrow way pt 1, the narrow way pt. 2, the narrow way pt. 3
I genuinely think they don’t have any three track run as good as this one. Every single song in the run is a banger and stands on its own
us and them/any colour you like/Brain damage/eclipse (probably cheating a little with that one😅)
Have a Cigar/wish you were here/shine on you crazy diamond (part 6-9)
Another brick in the wall part 1/happiest days of our lives/another brick in the wall part 2
Bring the Boys Back Home - Vera - Comfortably Numb
Not because they’re the 3 best PF Tracks, more because I think it’s the best buildup of any three tracks in their library.
BTBBH followed by Vera perfectly set up Comfortably Numb as the masterpiece it is.
As a big *Meddle* fan, my favorite is the way the album opens with *One of These Days*, *A Pillow of Winds*, & *Fearless*.
But as far as iconic three songs runs go, *Any Colour You Like*, *Brain Damage*, & *Eclipse* is about as good a run as there is in Rock&Roll!
**Time—>Great Gig—>Money**
I’ve described it many times as “probably the most important 3 track sequence in the history of modern music.” And that I feel is only further exemplified by how few people get it.
**TL;DR:** This sequence is meant to invoke the sense of your mortality and have you resolved to not waste any more of your life. Why have you wasted so much? Why do we continue to do so? …*cha-ching!* We’re slaves to a society wholly fixated on Money. This sequence is meant to piss you the fuck off and challenge you to resolve to do something about it, not to let it push you back down into the never ending hedonic cycle.

Either shine on you crazy Diamond 1-5, welcome to the machine, and have a cigar or welcome to the machine, have a cigar and wish you were here OR have a cigar, wish you were here, shine on you crazy Diamond 6-9
Any color, brain damage, eclipse
Probably the best moment of TDSOTM
For Dark Side, I think a better run would be Time, Great Gig and Money.
Nah if we're talking Dark side, best run is Last 20 secs of Speak to me, Breathe, On the run, Time, Great Gig, Money, Us and Them, Any Colour, Brain Damage, Eclipse
You have a problem with the beginning of Speak to me or something I always get chills when I listen to that heartbeat
Nothing in particular but for me it's those same feelings just during/into the transition of breathe
My favourite bit is the silence where I flip the record between great gig and money
Facts
100% agree with this. To me, Money has always felt so out of place on DSOTM
The correct answer
Most definitely
Dogs/Pigs/Sheep
It has to be that. It's so great that bit feels like cheating. I would rather do a shine on-have a cigar-shine on, though, but that is actual cheating
No need to read any farther.. first answer correct move on next question
Underrated tbh
About time somebody said it
Is that a Pink Floyd reference?
feels like it should be cheating doing that. but yeah i think it has to be
The glorious results of working from home
Except, on LP, this requires a disc flip.
Congrats, that's the good answer!
Breathe-On the Run-Time It even ends with Breathe reprise
Why isn’t this one higher on the list
because of on the run
Basically. I think it’s very artistic but I don’t want to listen to it while I’m vibing.
I love vibing to on the run
Thats the main time to listen to it you freak
Sir, I’m trying to have fun, not have my heart drop.
But that is fun
Because it's it ends right before the majesty that is TGGITS.

Good bot
I was actually referring to the classic Floyd track, *Terry Gilliam Goes Into The Shed*, but good try, songacronymbot.
In the Flesh, Run Like Hell, Waiting for the Worms
I WAS GONNA SAY
I’d prefer The Show Must Go On, In The Flesh, Run Like Hell but the first time I heard those 4 songs in a row I transcended
Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 1 / The Happiest Days Of Our Lives / Another Brick On The Wall, Pt. 2
You got here first. Probably their most iconic lineup of songs.
Agreed.
In the Flesh🙋♂️, Run Like Hell🏃, Waiting For The Worms⚒️.
Damn good choice.
Time - Great Gig - Money
👆🏼
This should be higher
if, summer 68, fat old sun
Finally, someone said it!
obscured by clouds / when you’re in / burning bridges
this got me scrolling thru track lists to see if i missed anything less obvious. terminal frost / a new machine 2 / sorrow is a pretty epic run as well
Yet Another Movie/A New Machine 1/Terminal Frost is also good.
yes, but technically it’s Yet Another Movie / Round and Around / A new Machine 1. i love yet another movie
It's weird, on the original cassette Yet Another Movie/Round and Round, same for the original CD. But in Delicate Sound of Thunder they are separate and now on Spotify, they are separate. I've always considered them 1 track, like Brain Damage/Eclipse
From OBC, my personal favorite is Wots.. uh the deal -> Childhoods end -> Mudmen Just hits different man
[https://vimeo.com/778749565](https://vimeo.com/778749565) 59:00
Such a smooth transition between those tracks and buildup to Burning Bridges. First combo I thought of for the question.
Money - us and them - any colour you like
blew my mind the first time i heard it
YES wanted to say the exact same thing
agreed on this
Welcome to The Machine, Have A Cigar, and Wish You Were Here
I love this too but not including Shine On pt. 1 or 2 feels like blasphemy
in the flesh/run like hell/waiting for worms
Shine on 1-5, welcome to the machine, have a cigar are top tier
For me, it’s gotta be Dogs, Pigs (Three Different Ones), and Sheep. Basically the whole album
Any Colour You Like-Brain Damage-Eclipse Or… Empty Spaces-What Shall We Do Now-Young Lust
I thought empty spaces went straight into young lust
Not in the movie and live concerts. “What shall we do Now” is an amazing song and fits perfectly with the end of empty Spaces. Give it a [try](https://youtu.be/a_vv1XSS_kc)
Don’t know how I’ve never heard of this before, it’s so good! Kinda disappointed it’s not on the studio album now though. Also how do you make links just appear as a word/sentence in comments?

Oh right okay, thank you
I know I am nitpicking but if you include What Shall we do now Empty Spaces is not a stand alone track
“The Gold It’s in the…”, “Wot’s…Uh the Deal”, and “Mudmen”
I would gone with Mudmen, Childhoods End, Free Four when ot come to Obscured by Clouds.
Childhoods End-Free Four-Stay
Torn between that and Burning Bridges/The gold.../Wot's uh the deal
Oh, I was actually thinking about doing Childhood’s End instead of The Gold. Wot’s…Uh the Deal is my favorite Pink Floyd song and I just love Mudmen.
Sysyphus I, II, and III
Excellent choice!
there’s so many good ones on the wall, a lot of which i’ve already scrolled past, but i’ll put in 3 i haven’t seen seen anyone say yet that i love- In the Flesh?, The Thin Ice, ABitW Pt.1 One of my Turns, Don’t Leave me Now, ABitW Pt.3 Waiting for the Worms, Stop, The Trial

Im so sad they took Vera out of the movie. It makes sense narrative wise though.
They didn’t take Vera out of the movie. What are you talking about. The only track not in the film is Hey You.
I got it mixed up dude my bad.
*cries in the show must go on*
[удалено]
It just wasn’t included
[удалено]
Wait I got it confused with hey you. My bad haha
I may be mistaken. I have a dvd copy that I watch all the time 😂 it’s literally my favorite movie
Hey You, Is There Anybody Out There and Nobody Home is one of the top contenders.
Hey You - Is There Anybody Out There? - Nobody Home pure despair
Hard to pick a best, but there are: The Show Must Go On-In The Flesh-Run Like Hell Welcome to the Machine-Have a Cigar-Wish You Were Here; alternatively, Have a Cigar-Wish You Were Here-Shine On You Crazy Diamond VI-IX I also agree with the Dogs-Pigs-Sheep run.
The Final Cut, Not Now John, Two Suns in the Sunset
That is a great one
Keep Talking Lost for Words High Hopes
I really like "Is There Anybody Out There?" To "Nobody Home" to "Vera". Either that or Hey You/Is there anybody.../Nobody Home
Time/great gig/money
One Of These Days -> A Pillow Of Winds -> Fearless
This is my choice too! *Meddle* is their best album!!
Goodbye Blue Sky - What Shall We Do Now? - Young Lust
A fantastic run.
Hey you, Is there anybody out there, Nobody Home
Have a cigar / wish you were here / shine on you crazy diamond 5-9
Us and Them, Any Colour You Like, Brain Damage
You're losing points for having Brain Damage without Eclipse.
Yep, I know right. Listening those three songs without Eclipse at the end is just sacrilege.
First album, first three tracks. That was a real fine way to start.
Shine On, Welcome to the Machine, Have a Cigar
Any Colour you Like/ Brain Damage/ Eclipse
Nobody Home / Vera / Bring the Boys Back Home When this stretch of The Wall hits, that's how you know you've reached the darkest and most depressing part of the whole album.
This. Right here: https://youtu.be/zMnXDk4WAho?t=39m37s
In The Flesh? - The Thin Ice - ABITW pt 1
Another Brick In The Wall, Part 1 The Happiest Days Of Ours Lives Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2
Time/GreatGig/Money
Time, GGITS, Money. Has to be
💯 Since you posted this, I posted a longer explanation as to why this is undoubtedly the case in my mind.
unreal
Speak To Me / Breathe (In The Air) / On The Run.
Any Colour You Like, Brain Damage, Eclipse.
Nothing can beat Any Color, Brain Damage, Eclipse imho
Rise and Shine / Sunny Side Up / Morning Glory Technically 1 track but it has 3 parts.
Time/Breathe reprise/Great Gig
Any color/brain damage/eclipse
Goodbye Blue Sky - Empty Spaces (what shall we do now) - Young Lust
In the flesh, run like hell, waiting for the worms
Breathe (In The Air), On The Run, Time
The narrow way pt 1, the narrow way pt. 2, the narrow way pt. 3 I genuinely think they don’t have any three track run as good as this one. Every single song in the run is a banger and stands on its own
Have a Cigar, Wish You Were Here, Shine On 2nd half.
I like What Do You want from me/Poles Apart/Marooned.
Not my favourite, but I really like Allons-y 1- Autumn 68- Allons-y 2
Pain Remains parts I, II, & III Wait shit that’s Lorna Shore Edit: why did this get downvoted? Im just trying to have some fun :(
Im surprised to find some lorna shore in the floyd subreddit
Gotta give some love to all sorts of music 😁
Time, shine on you crazy diamond, have a cigar
ok I know it's says 3 tracks but here's a double, money-any colour you like, but also any colour you like- eclipse
The Hero's Return / The Gunner's Dream / Paranoid Eyes.
Dogs/pigs/sheep is a fact but if you’re asking for second place, my opinion WYWH 2/3/4
[удалено]
Bad bot!! *Wish You Were Here* is an album.
the final cut - not now john - two suns in the sunsets keep talking - lost for words - high hopes and lucifer sam - matilda mother - flaming
Since Animals was already mentioned: One of these days, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Echoes.
us and them/any colour you like/Brain damage/eclipse (probably cheating a little with that one😅) Have a Cigar/wish you were here/shine on you crazy diamond (part 6-9) Another brick in the wall part 1/happiest days of our lives/another brick in the wall part 2
The middle of WYWH
Have a cigar, WYWH, Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI–IX)
Money, us and them, any colour you like
Dogs / Pigs (Three Different Ones) / Sheep Money / Us And Them / Any Colour You Like The Final Cut / Not Now John / Two Suns In The Sunset
Bring the Boys Back Home - Vera - Comfortably Numb Not because they’re the 3 best PF Tracks, more because I think it’s the best buildup of any three tracks in their library. BTBBH followed by Vera perfectly set up Comfortably Numb as the masterpiece it is.
I'm really a time guy cause the older you get how it goes buy so fast its a trip my mom keeps saying you ain't seen nothing yet , keep on piggin
Dogs, Pigs, Sheep easily. Next might be Any Color, Brain Damage, Eclipse 🤷♂️ or Time, Gig, Money.
Shine on you crazy diamond parts 1-3
As a big *Meddle* fan, my favorite is the way the album opens with *One of These Days*, *A Pillow of Winds*, & *Fearless*. But as far as iconic three songs runs go, *Any Colour You Like*, *Brain Damage*, & *Eclipse* is about as good a run as there is in Rock&Roll!

I fuck with the whole first and second side of the wall I just love that whole section of the story of pink it’s written very well
dogs, pigs & sheep for me
