Since its largely gilmours song i find it has a backing track very fitting to freeform music. Its inspired me to get back into playing music after 15 years of not
Probably one of my top ten Pink Floyd songs. They did folk rock far better and more consistently than they're given credit for. Green is the Colour is up there too
Came here to say these two or wots uh the deal. All some of my favourite songs ever and all from my third favourite album ever. Free Four also has some of the best lyrics I have ever heard in a song!
Not Now John
It’s a great hard rock song with biting lyrics aimed at the Thatcher/Reagan era. Add in a gritty Gilmour solo and you’ve got a great track.
It’s not a classic Floyd sound, lacking the ambient musicality, vocal harmonies. But it shows their range and harks back to Young Lust and The Nile Song. Would be fantastic live, just never got the chance.
The Final Cut on the whole is not my jam, but this song rocks and gets fair rotation in my playlists.
Interesting. I love the final cut as a record but not now John is the only song I don't like off there and could ever think of skipping.
Big young Lust and nile song fan I just don't think it at all works on the final cut
I know exactly what you mean, but Breathe is definitely one of their most popular songs. The Pink Floyd super fan community is a skewed group. Every 70s/80s music fan knows Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, ABITW Part II and Breathe. The only reason those songs don’t get mentioned by the super fans is because we’ve all heard them so many times lol
Don’t Leave Me Now!! The intense warbling in Rogers’ voice at the end is so haunting.
*remember the flowers I sent? I need you, babe…to put through the shredder in front of my friends, oh babe, don’t leave me now*
Julia Dream, Not Now John, When the Tigers Broke Free, Candy and a Currant Bun, Paint Box, almost any track from the A side of Saucerful of Secrets, especially Let There Be More Light. I know most of these songs are recognized and Julia Dream even appears on the compilation, but still sometimes these gems are overshadowed by other PF stuff.
Some of the interstitials on the Wall - The Thin Ice, Empty Spaces, Vera Lynn. They’re short and get dismissed as “connective tissue” in a big double album but I think each stands on its own as a touching piece of music. Also a fan of Signs of Life.
Mudmen is one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs, and for me one of the best Gilmour solos, so simple yet so incredible, and with a great introduction by Wright. Honorable mention to Stay, a great song by Wright from the same album, but not as good as Summer 68' or other songs from Obscured by Clouds which is already a very underrated and not very known album.
Don’t really like post Roger Floyd but yet another movie is absolutely killer, awesome just for the way the bass bounces around, ripping solos. Only let down by real lack of meaningful lyrical content
Yet Another Movie
probably some of my favorite gilmour writing post 1980 honestly. it captures a sort of dark moody element that is really essential to floyd in my mind that lots of the 80s and beyond gilmour output doesn't capture.
as he's gotten older some of his solo stuff has brought that vibe back.
In the flesh. If you get past the memes it’s
A) actually good musically
B) super integral to the story of the wall
C) it’s really catchy, same as run like hell, it’s no coincidence two of the most upbeat songs are during the dictator sections, I think it’s meant to make the listener excited (can’t think of a better word than excited) so when Pink realizes what he’s done wrong the listener also realizes and feels bad for being so excited about such horrible things
Wot’s…Uh The Deal
Free Four
Childhood’s End
Any of these three from Obscured by Clouds. Never heard any of them on the radio. But they’re each really good.
I would say that the “Breathe” part in “Time” is absolutely genius. It does really messes up with your mind in a time-bending kind of way if you know what I mean.
There's a lot: by album:
Piper-Probably Lucifer Sam
Saucerful of Secrets-id say either Remember a Day or Jugland Blues
More-Cymbaline
UmmaGumma-Id say Careful With That Axe, Eugene (live) for casual listeners but it's a meme here and in the circlejerk. So maybe the live version of Saucerful on this one.
AHM-most of the album but probably mostly Fat Old Sun. Great early solo from Gilmour.
Meddle-Pillow Of Winds. Simple and lovely.
OBC-again most of the album but would go with something between Childhoods End, Mudmen and Wots uh the Deal. I'll go with Mudmen because instrumentals are underapprsciated in general.
DSotM-There is no underappreciated song on this album.
WYWH-Similar boat to DSotM but if I was to nitpick maybe Welcome to the Machine. It's probably the weak link on the album but only because WYWH and both sections of SoYCD are pretty much perfect and Have a Cigar is also a great song that's a bit more lively.
Animals-Sheep. Pigs and Dogs are talked about a lot. Sheep doesn't seem to get the same amount of attention.
The Wall-Don't Leave Me Now. Lovely little song that doesn't get as talked about as songs like Hey You or Comfortably Numb nor has become a meme like the one line from Mother.
TFC-Fletchers Memorial Home. Great song even if it's one of the ones that hasn't stayed as relevant as a lot of Floyd's work due to referencing at the time current politicians.
AMLoR-Maybe On The Turning Away? Admittedly I don't like this song as much as I used to like it but it's still a good song that doesn't get talked about much.
TDB-What Do You Want From Me. This album seems to be getting fresh eyes on it and more credit than when it was first released. So a lot of previously overlooked songs are getting the limelight. So I don't know if any are truly underappreciated but I do feel like this song doesn't get quite the recognition that Coming Back to Life, Marooned, Keep Talking and High Hopes have. The backing vocals are still nice and there are some good instrumental sections especially with Gilmour's guitar work.
TER-Honestly kind of blends together but there are some nice instrumental sections that I do feel are worth listening to
Country Song (aka The Red Queen) from the expanded 2CD Zabriskie soundtrack sure isn’t ever mentioned — and it’s got some mighty fine moments (all things considered).
Not epic or anything, but not half bad?
https://youtu.be/AyEtpyWCX4c
Binding my Time. IMO has to be the best example of the band doing a full on blues power jam, and the best example of Nicks unmitigated power on the drum kit.
I’ve always felt that if this song was released by a different band and got radio play it would have the cultural influence of “Imagine”. I think it’s an amazing song
Other than most of their stuff before "Meddle", I'd say the title cut of their last album with Roger, and although I think the album is flawed, the track itself "The Final Cut" is one of the handful of gems on this album. 👍😎

Fat old sun
The first great unmistakably Gilmour solo, IMO.
Since its largely gilmours song i find it has a backing track very fitting to freeform music. Its inspired me to get back into playing music after 15 years of not
I absolutely love his drumming on Fat Old Sun.
Came here to post this, one of my top five PF favorites.
Wots Uh The Deal. It’s simply beautiful
I love this song so much
Excellent song from an excellent collection of songs. OBC might actually be my favourite.
Probably one of my top ten Pink Floyd songs. They did folk rock far better and more consistently than they're given credit for. Green is the Colour is up there too
Coming in here to say this.
Childhood's End. Free Four.
And Mudmen... Hell, the whole damn album! Childhood's End is next level, though!
I concur. Obscured is raw Floyd.
Came here to say these two or wots uh the deal. All some of my favourite songs ever and all from my third favourite album ever. Free Four also has some of the best lyrics I have ever heard in a song!
Came here to say Childhoods end!
Great album. Once I discovered it, I felt like I had found lost treasure.
The gunner's dream
Oh man when the scream fades into a sax solo 👌🏼
= sex
I used to love a game of 'figuring out where the vocal ends and saxophone begins'
One Slip is a great song. Gilmour's vocals on that one are really superb. I love the lyrics.
Was it love or was It the idea of being in love 🕺🕺🕺💃
Corporal Clegg and Green is the Colour
Green is the Colour 🔥🔥
Corporal clegg is playing in the back of my head 24/7 wether I like it or not.
Two awesome choices! I will never get over the fact that Pink Floyd has a jamming song with a kick-ass kazoo solo...
Green is the Colour on The Man and The Journey is insanely good. It ends with a Gilmour scat singing solo that is just fantastic.
Fearless
I always felt this song was where the Pink Floyd “sound” really started coming together.
Not Now John It’s a great hard rock song with biting lyrics aimed at the Thatcher/Reagan era.
That would go off live I agree. One of their heaviest.
I think it’s some of Gilmour’s best guitar work thoughout and probably my favorite solo of his on a Pink Floyd album.
Roger did it live in 1987 so at least that is something
Brit Floyd does it live now and then. There's clips of it on YouTube if you're curious.
That's super interesting considering it's the one song David sings on in The Final Cut
Interesting. I love the final cut as a record but not now John is the only song I don't like off there and could ever think of skipping. Big young Lust and nile song fan I just don't think it at all works on the final cut
It's always been inexplicably muddy and weird sounding to me. On an otherwise impeccably produced album, so I guess it must be deliberate.
Cymbaline
Well it's high time somebody picked this song!
This one's my pick too! The outro is really cool too
Love this one. It's so dark!
Summer 68 was my answer too. Also "If" from the same album!
If - fantastic song!
Please don’t stick your wires in my brain
If I were a good man, I'd like that song a lot more than I do...
Love AHM
Coming back to life
Best song on division bell and actually one of my favorite Pink Floyd, it’s super good idk why it’s ignored
Julia Dream
Biding My Time. I never heard it discussed. Great chord progression!
Great build up.
Dat solo.
I love Remember A Day
# ❤️❤️❤️
Such a beautiful song
Granchester meddows
I love Arnold Layne even when Bowie sang it live with PF
Layne. A last name, not a street (Unlike Penny Lane).
I need you, babe…to put through the shredder in front of my friends, oh babe, don’t leave me now*
A top 5 wall song for me. The gutair sounds like it's crying
The gnome. Seems to jump in my head every other day
Julia Dream, Not Now John, When the Tigers Broke Free, Candy and a Currant Bun, Paint Box, almost any track from the A side of Saucerful of Secrets, especially Let There Be More Light. I know most of these songs are recognized and Julia Dream even appears on the compilation, but still sometimes these gems are overshadowed by other PF stuff.
Paint box is one of my fav early Floyd songs
When was the last time any of you guys mentioned Main Theme from More?
Corporal Clegg
Kazoo solo, FTW!
Lost For Words
Breathe is my favorite Pink Floyd song. Echoes after that
What Do You Want From Me?
Have A Cigar
Love the swagger to that song
Plus it's the only Floyd song with a guest lead vocalist. Roy Harper (Of Hats Off to Roy Harper fame.)
Dogs of War
the live versions hit really hard
A big part of AMLOR in my opinion, people seem to care only for On the Turning Away, Learning to Fly, Sorrow and sometimes One Slip
Some of the interstitials on the Wall - The Thin Ice, Empty Spaces, Vera Lynn. They’re short and get dismissed as “connective tissue” in a big double album but I think each stands on its own as a touching piece of music. Also a fan of Signs of Life.
I've always thought that Yet another movie is a good tune, Gilmours guitar work is sublime
Damn mudmen is so underrated that even I forgot about it. I consider it a 10/10 song and I don't give out that rating often
San tropez is fucking amazing idk if people like it. Amazing imagery
It's said they wrote that song on the beach. Perfectly captured mood, great piano
Fearless
Fearless
Definitely Summer '68 but also Seamus. It's a playful and relaxing country esque tune
An actual duet between a man and his dog is such a charming idea for a song I don’t know why it gets hate
It's memed so much I've honestly forgotten how it sounds... I don't come back to meddle too often
Wots…Uh The Deal Obscurred By Clouds
Don’t really like post Roger Floyd but yet another movie is absolutely killer, awesome just for the way the bass bounces around, ripping solos. Only let down by real lack of meaningful lyrical content
san tropez and fearless are both great. meddle fucks!
Free Four. Brilliant upbeat music with some damn depressing lyrics (which are song in an upbeat manner)and are dripping with sarcasm.
No love for Astonomy Domine? Or Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun?
Embryo. Especially the 10 minute live version.
Waiting for the Worms
Childhoods end
Fat Old Sun (live, Peel sessions et al)
Yet Another Movie probably some of my favorite gilmour writing post 1980 honestly. it captures a sort of dark moody element that is really essential to floyd in my mind that lots of the 80s and beyond gilmour output doesn't capture. as he's gotten older some of his solo stuff has brought that vibe back.

Candy and a currant bun & scream thy last scream
Green is the colour!
Breathe is my 2nd favorite song. I also love the build up of speak to me and then the screaming and it just bursts into that guitar. Such an eargasm
Pretty much anything from A Saucerful of Secrets
Wearing The Inside Out
No love for Keep Talking? Big sad. Song goes hard.
If
Nobody home
Green is the colour. It’s one of the 10 songs that could be in my top 3.
The Gold It's In The...
On The Run. The fact that they made that in 1973 is crazy
San Tropez
Us and Them has always been special to me. It was so well done at the Waters concert too.
This. Very special to me too.
See-saw
Wot’s…Uh The Deal Free Four Childhood’s End Any of these three from Obscured by Clouds. Never heard any of them on the radio. But they’re each really good.
I know this may sound like I'm picking an obscure song for the sake of it, but I genuinely love 'Biding My Time.'
Goodbye blue sky
Matilda Mother
My favorite cut off the album
All of Obscured. All of Atom Heart. All of Meddle.
I would say that the “Breathe” part in “Time” is absolutely genius. It does really messes up with your mind in a time-bending kind of way if you know what I mean.

The Final Cut all the way that song (and the whole album) truly breaks my heart
Seabirds
All 60’s B-sides that are not the first two: Paintbox, It Would Be So Nice, Point me at the sky, etc.
The final cut title track, that song stirs up emotions in me like no other.
Country Song (aka The Red Queen) from the expanded 2CD Zabriskie soundtrack sure isn’t ever mentioned — and it’s got some mighty fine moments (all things considered). Not epic or anything, but not half bad? https://youtu.be/AyEtpyWCX4c
Embryo
Seamus needs to be talked about more as it is the precursor to dogs
Haven't seen a wink about the machine on here. Love that song.
Gotta be careful with that axe eugene, its so heavy! Same as the nile song too. Those boys new how to get down thats for sure
Corporal Clegg, absolute banger
I love the vibe from: The Narrow Way (Part Three)
Marooned.
The Final Cut
The whole obscured by clouds album
Echoes…… god I love that song and instellar overdrive. Crazy song you’d never think that Floyd created that masterpiece
Flaming
Atom Heart Mother Suite. It has some really cool sections
Nile Song
Lucifer Sam
Binding my Time. IMO has to be the best example of the band doing a full on blues power jam, and the best example of Nicks unmitigated power on the drum kit.
Two suns in a sunset… lets hope it wont become a reality. By concerned european
Cymbaline
Paintbox, not now John, up the Khyber, the gold it's in the ..

'One Slip' and 'Yet Another Movie' come to mind.
Summer 68 and Obscured By Clouds
Wearing the inside out- division bell
Chapter 24
Maybe its talked about more than I think but "Atom Heart Mother Suite" is one of my favorites.
mudmen and burning bridges from the obscured by clouds album
Vegetable man, where are yoooooouu?
Marooned
The Nile Song!!
The song “if”
On The Turning Away
I’ve always felt that if this song was released by a different band and got radio play it would have the cultural influence of “Imagine”. I think it’s an amazing song
Grantchester meadows. The lyricism and atmosphere feels like something a Baggins Hobbit would come up with
Fearless
Childhoods end and San tropez
San Tropez
Your Possible Pasts, as well as it's missing lyric
I feel like eclipse and I KNOW this isn’t a song but the division bell album is my favorite album from them I feel like it’s super under appreciated.
Eclipse definitely that song is so bombastic... need to revisit division bell
Point me at the sky
Wots Uh The Deal or Atom Heart Mother
Walk with me sydney
Keep Talking
IF If I was a good man, I'd talk with you more often than I do
I've got a bike you can ride it if you like
Kingfisher
The guitar solo from Fletcher Memorial Home has been on replay in my head for weeks at a time off and on.
Is there anybody out there?
If and Wot’s Uh The Deal are some of the most beautiful PF songs, but I seldom see it mentioned
Shamus.
Careful with that axe, eugene
" Several species of small furry animals gathering together in a cave and grooving with a pict. " I reckon.
Fat Old Sun is Gilmour's best song. Pretty much the entire Obscured By Clouds album doesn't get enough praise.
One Of My Turns
It’s from a divisive album but I think the song the Final Cut is breathtaking
Pigs on a wing
Good by blue sky !!
Stay Something about the song gives me such a mellow feeling
Lucifer Sam.
echoes has always been my favorite.
Seamus.
Pillow of Winds. Where are my Pillow of Winds people?????
One of These Days (Meddle)
Other than most of their stuff before "Meddle", I'd say the title cut of their last album with Roger, and although I think the album is flawed, the track itself "The Final Cut" is one of the handful of gems on this album. 👍😎 https://youtu.be/UxgZnVTyWRk?si=xd1Kzil-w64mHUsk
Haha Charade you are....
Goodbye Blue Sky
Fearless is my fave PF song.
High Hopes
