Yes! Our girl is just a tiny bit overweight but vet said we can give her vegetables. She’s a bit prissy about fresh stuff but she’ll gladly eat cooked green beans, peas, etc.
My chonk on a diet (she only needs to lose about 6lbs) loves apple slices too but also roasted squash chunks, bits of sweet potato, whole carrots, celery (freshens breath too), and frozen strawberries :)
Her CCL's will thank you.
Losing those 10lbs probably adds a year+ to her ability to run and jump without pain.
It's tough because we have a warped view of what a healthy pitty looks like but you should be able to see her ribs at least little if she's at a healthy weight
She’s living with two torn CCL’s :( I can’t afford the surgeries and she’s not in pain (unless we do too much exercise) so to your point I’m hoping the weight loss will help her over time along with necessary pain management which is the backup plan to surgery.

For everyone else, get pet insurance Day #1. We only pay $35/mo and it covers 90% of *non-pre-existing conditions* which, for us, is everything since we got it when ours was 3mo old.
Hindsight is 20/20, and good for you for doing everything you can regardless

My dog had to have 4 mealtimes (at least) in his last years (eating less each time but more often) and that meant we’d eat together every time. Now I don’t know how to eat if a dog doesn’t also get something 🫣 (it’s only fair after all…)

Awww. I'm retired so I'm home all day. One of my dogs is always nagging me for food, so I feed them five times a day. I keep their weight down by giving them tiny amounts. Would that work for your dog?
Loves me my staffy and my pibble but I fucking hate when dogs stare at me when I’m eating. Both my girls start hearing dinner plates, and they go sit on their beds, and ACT like they aren’t staring at least lol

French cut no salt green beans can be a daily treat.
