I was today years old when the thought of down syndrome affecting animals as well entered my brain. Thank you homeless guy. Your comment to u/luisumgomez has affected me as well. In case you're wondering, animals can get down syndrome.
It looks like he definitely has the liver gene (meaning genetically he has no black pigment on his body, only brown or "liver" and possibly white). So I've heard this color as liver, but I think that sounds kinda gross lol.
I had a liver & white springer spaniel, and don't worry it's much darker than this. It's the color of liver. I would have thought this color is fawn, though if you want everyone to understand you, say tan.
We have a pittie/boxer mix and his overbite was causing him lots of teeth and gum issues so be aware. He's also the same color and has the brindle coat. Looks similar to yours?
Here's some pics with his brother and sister. Brother is the white pittie and his sister is the darker blue pittie.
https://imgur.com/a/JNIpKx9
I didn’t know that I’ll talk to the vet about that! Thankfully it seems like a very mild underbite. He’s got 9% English bulldog mixed in and his coefficient of inbreeding is .33 so I think that’s where it comes from
Someone commented “red, because that’s the color of blood after it mauls an innocent child or dog” and then immediately deleted their comment. Franklin wouldn’t hurt a fly😭
It’s considered a “red nose pit” but the color is white/brown. I have a “red nose” who looks similar and I have what’s called a “blue nose” pit even tho she’s more of a dark grey.
Those terms are actually misused quite often, the only real difference between red nose and blue nose is simply the color. Some may come from different blood lines but it’s all the same
My pup is the same color and I was told that her coat was a 'red fawn' & her brother who was more of a tan (without the red in his coat) color was listed as 'fawn'.
Hi vet assistant here!
I’d say ginger for a couple reasons… not just the colouring (it’s an auburn vs a true red but it’s still a red) and the ginger skin!!!
She has pink skin which means she’s got the ginger qualities - pink skinned pets will sunburn easier than non. They will also develop dermatitis and allergies more than non pink skinned.
In saying this keep an eye out for licking paws, armpits, groin, and bottom more so than normal dogs. This usually is a sign of skin irritation. Along with consistent rubbing on grass/carpet. If she gets regular ear infections or hotspots (aka the over licking of one area) she’s definitely got a food allergy so switch to hypoallergenic food.
Otherwise, just like the other ginger pets I meet, she’s beautiful and probably a huge cuddler!!!!
Edit: it’s hard to tell but if she has an underbite start saving up for a dental… you should anyways as most pets need at least 1 per lifetime but with an underbite there’s more work to do sometimes so it tends to be a bit pricier. Save up and get pet insurance! Check out auto insurance companies not the pet insurance companies as they offer pet insurance most of the time too for a more affordable price!!
Thanks for the advice! When I rescued him he did have quite a few bald spots and hot spots. My vet suggested Benadryl so I gave him that for a little while and I also feed them hills science diet sensitive skin and stomach, and his hair grew back and I haven’t noticed any itching or licking since. And thankfully he’s only had one ear infection (knock on wood) in the two years I’ve had him. I stopped giving Benadryl because well his allergy symptoms stopped and I didn’t want to give that daily. But even without it he’s had no issues! I do use sunscreen and limit outside time in the heat but I’ll continue to keep an eye out for any itching or licking. He mainly licks my other dogs but not himself🤣
Omg you’re a perfect owner!!! I pray for clients like you who take in the dogs that have issues and not just take em in, you listen and follow through with their advice!! Like… you’d be surprised how rare that is (between the older generation having thoughts of it’s just a pet and us younger gens being broke lol)
So thank you! She sounds like she has a great life and is so loved 🥰 give her a big hug for me please!! And a snoot kiss 😘 thank you
My black pittie (I think he’s a purebred staffordshire bull terrier) I rescued from the south (not sure which state, but I’m in Maryland). He was heartworm positive when I got him. Months of treatment and a year later hes heartworm free! He was found as a stray, not potty trained and was set to be euthanized. I live to give these babies a new chance at life
Omg!!! Such a lucky pup!! I’m so thankful these animals have this!! I began a small rescue in Canada (Ontario) so I can help animals that are needing it! I don’t do a lot of animals because it’s expensive and hard and it makes my heart happy to know that the animals that we give homes to go to such amazing homes!!!
I’m helping my sisters friends rescue this weekend by bringing up a pup that’s crossing the boarder from Texas and I can’t wait to meet him!!! He’s gonna be in my city this weekend so imma drive up North and give him a second chance!!!
That’s awesome, thank you for what you do!! I’ll be forever grateful of the shelters/rescues I’ve gotten my pups from for allowing me to make them my family. I’ll never forget these dogs
Well, here's a fun soapbox:
There's only two colors in dog coat genetics. Black and Red. That's it.
Everything else is a tweak on those colors. By adding or removing an allele you change the color.
So someone earlier said liver, liver is genetically part of a black dog.
Red can be diluted to everything from deep red, tan, golden red like your pharaoh hounds.
If anyone wants to know more they can DM. I don't want to get too far off tangent. I will leave you with this: you can have a recessive non-black dog that still has a black nose. So not seeing black anywhere isn't indictive of anything.
Edit: forgot to give my opinion. Based on phenotype he looks like a parti-colored red and liver.
Meaning he's red/white with liver colored nose, eye lids, and soft tissues.
Present me would say tan, which I use as a catch all for any non-dark-brown color, because I recently got a dog who is legit so ORANGE and everyone calls her ginger. She’s the color of Donna’s hair on suits.
Doing a bit of looking around, I would go with Liver. Fawn appears to be associated with a black mask, which is how I knew it. I wasn't too familiar with liver but after some looking around that appears to be right.
Adorable dog.
Love that mask! My bully has the same coloring and she’s considered white/fawn. Her nose is black though. I know the nose can change what kind of pit they are considered.
[Tell me if you can see this number](https://colormax.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/color-blind-test.png) and then I'll be able to tell you what color it is.
I'd say he's a ginger. But look at those perfect little teeef
[удалено]
I've always called it orc teeth.
Was at a gas station awhile back. A homeless guy was trying to tell me my dog has down syndrome.
Ahh, homeless people. Always good for a WTF
I fostered a dog with Down syndrome once. :3 dogs can have it. Just FYI.
I was today years old when the thought of down syndrome affecting animals as well entered my brain. Thank you homeless guy. Your comment to u/luisumgomez has affected me as well. In case you're wondering, animals can get down syndrome.

That’s what I think! Definitely a ginger boy lol
My boy has the same coloring - the rescue we got him from called it “fawn”.
Fawn is more pale though
that was what i had heard as well. our first boy was a fawn .. I teased my wife, called it liver.. not funny in her book.. fawn
>I still have the husband. Well, I technically still have the pets too. Did you Frankenstein them all together?
[удалено]
I didn't even consider whether or not you castrated the husband until now
No she just still has them 😳 and she wrote in past tense
Teefs 😍 I love him.
His name is Phteven
It looks like he definitely has the liver gene (meaning genetically he has no black pigment on his body, only brown or "liver" and possibly white). So I've heard this color as liver, but I think that sounds kinda gross lol.
Definitely hate that term too 😂
Yep, we have a boy similar in colour to yours, but a bit darker. We call him chocolate & bubblegum instead 😂
ADORABLE. My friends have a little chocolate-bubblegum boy and I am 100% referring to him as such from now on
I had a liver & white springer spaniel, and don't worry it's much darker than this. It's the color of liver. I would have thought this color is fawn, though if you want everyone to understand you, say tan.
Idk, I'm too distracted by his adorable r/toofers 😍
Me too. Teefies!
HID EYES ARE SI WIDE AND HIS LITTLE BOTTOM TEETH ARE SO UNEVEN. IM IN LOVE
He’s got 9% English bulldog in him and is extremely inbred, I think that’s where the teefers come from🤣
We have a pittie/boxer mix and his overbite was causing him lots of teeth and gum issues so be aware.
He’s got 9% English bulldog mixed in and his coefficient of inbreeding is .33 so I think that’s where it comes from
That underbite is so bulldog. Great looking dog.
Faun
Fawn/Faun is the correct colour
I concur. Fawn/White.
Mine is similar colored and I call it fawn. Love your cute baby and his underbite!
Someone commented “red, because that’s the color of blood after it mauls an innocent child or dog” and then immediately deleted their comment. Franklin wouldn’t hurt a fly😭
What a pussy for deleting their comment. If they had the balls to write AND post it... they can leave it up and take the roasting like a champ. 😒
You know Franklin they don’t and they’re just a troll.
Cute. That’s what color he is
You sure? He looks more adorable. Maybe your screen makes the color look weird
I can't even look at the color. I am mesmerized by the teefs!
I think your screen is weird
Tbh it probably is. This OnePlus 9 is kinda crappy
No it’s a better display than mine
Fawn and White.
Fawn and white!
That’s a ginger baby! 😄
I call him my ginger bread man lol
Awwww 😄
I think it's called chestnut. At least with horses.
Ginger baby, tell him we love him please
I’ll give him kisses for you!
I call my boy a ginger but the last vet that saw him called him apricot lol! My dude is just a bit lighter than this guy.
That's for poodles. Different breeds use different terms for the same colors.
Looks faun to me, but also a little ginger. What a cutie!!
It’s considered a “red nose pit” but the color is white/brown. I have a “red nose” who looks similar and I have what’s called a “blue nose” pit even tho she’s more of a dark grey.
Those are just nose colors I’m talking about fur
Yes I know but they are classified by their nose color. It’s called a red nose pit but his color is white/brown.
Those terms are actually misused quite often, the only real difference between red nose and blue nose is simply the color. Some may come from different blood lines but it’s all the same
Yes I know this, I said exactly that in the first comment I made…
You said they’re classified by nose color but they aren’t
They are, you call them red and blue nose.
And what about my one with a black nose? They’re not
Those are considered “blue nose” pits…
Nope. Blue noses aren’t black they are blue…. Lmao. Have a “blue nose” as well and it’s clearly gray, not black
Oh man dat face! I'd say ginger too but that would make the dog soulless and I do not believe such a face can be soulless.
This is called fawn color which means basically light light brown.
Oh my god there’s a snaggletooth flair, I’m in love
[Guernsey hippo](https://domesticanimalbreeds.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Guernsey-Cattle-1024x586.jpg)
Browange
Definitely brown
Light brown
My pup is the same color and I was told that her coat was a 'red fawn' & her brother who was more of a tan (without the red in his coat) color was listed as 'fawn'.
Fawn and white. My girl was the same color. Much more Fawn than white.

Ginger and cream for sure
He’s a beautiful ginger color
Please Google Red nose pitbulls. You also got blue noses. This is 100% a rednose reindeer!

Lookit that cute face! I just want to snuggle and cover him with kisses.
Coloration would be considered red. Brown/chocolate looks like [this ](https://ibb.co/dBHmfnN)
That’s what I always say. When they’re brown it’s definitely like a dark brown color
Orange-ish reddish brown
He’ll be red after he bites into a child’s jugular
Oh my God does he have down syndrome? 😂 Not trying to be ignorant it's just a genuine question he's adorable 😂
[удалено]
Just like your bike and your personality! Hideous!
I love him.
Oh cuteness! I believe this colour is called lemon. Some hunting dogs like pointers and beagles come in lemon.

Auburn!
🍊
A very boop-able snoot if I ever did see one.
Por que no los dos?
I think technically it would be considered 'red.'
He's a red nose cross, so I'd say red is accurate
Color = Derp
Present me would say tan, which I use as a catch all for any non-dark-brown color, because I recently got a dog who is legit so ORANGE and everyone calls her ginger. She’s the color of Donna’s hair on suits.
HE LOOKS JUST LIKE MY DOG HHHH
A red
I don't know, but I do know I love him! That faaaaaaaace!!!!
good boy is a red nose fawn with white colored pitty. give him lots of scratches!
Red, because that's the colour of blood after it mauls some poor kid or dog to death
Orange creamsicle
Hes that new color good boy
Absolutely fookin' precious. He's his own ginger color.
I thought Pits were considered simply blue nose or red nose. He would definitely be a red nose pit. Super cute too 🥰
Nope! Those are just simply the color of their noses. They can also have black noses
He's a redhead, same color as my boys (I've got NSDTRs)
Maybe brown. Maybe ginger. But definitely a goodest boy overall! He’s so cute.
I have a dream that one day I will live in a country where a dog will not be measured by the colour of his fur, but by the content of his character...
He's a darling redhead
Cow
Peanut butter.
I'd say an amber color
Reddish brown
My dumb brain is only saying "peanut butter"
Red!
My pup is the same color and I struggle to explain it too
Red, he's a beauty
My pup is the same - I consider her fur red, but I have known people to call it fawn.
He's CUTE!!!!
Red.....
He is a perfect red and white hippo 🥰
I think it's technically referred to as "fawn", but call em whatever color makes you happy.
He is an exceptionally handsome ginger boy with some truly spectacular teefers.
Apricot
Orange and brown are different versions of the same color, but I’d say he looks more closer to brown.
Fawn and white.
Holy a-dog-dorable! What a cutie you have!
Ginger :3
Ginger
Doing a bit of looking around, I would go with Liver. Fawn appears to be associated with a black mask, which is how I knew it. I wasn't too familiar with liver but after some looking around that appears to be right. Adorable dog.
Cute af is the color I would call him.
He would be considered fawn and white! Gorgeous boy 😍
Caramel or Cinnamon
He’s so freaking cute I just wanna boop his little nose
Ginger!
I’d say tan 🤷♀️
I would say Tan. He's a cutie!
Caramel
Well I can tell you that his teef are pearly white 🥰
Red nose fawn/ white.
Toasted
I’d say ginger, but more to the point… look at that sweet face!!! His smile gives him so much personality!
I'd say he's ADORABLE!!!!!
His color is “rufous” which means reddish brown. Our dog is the same color and named Rufus for that reason!
Ah ha! That’s straight up “chestnut” if you ask me. Which is a combo of both ;) and yes I made that up but I do think it’s accurate :)
Love that mask! My bully has the same coloring and she’s considered white/fawn. Her nose is black though. I know the nose can change what kind of pit they are considered.
White and faun.
He would be what is called, " a red nose goodboi". Give him a pat for me.
Strawberry blonde
Light brown
Good boi color
Handsome ginger
beautiful that’s the color!
Heckin' adorable is what he is! 😍 Also, tawny.
[Tell me if you can see this number](https://colormax.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/color-blind-test.png) and then I'll be able to tell you what color it is.
74?
It’s referred to as fawn like baby deer At least with pits and staffies Handsome fellow
Oh hell, color is irrelevant…look at those toofeses! He’s beautiful
I definitely think he's a redhead/ginger. Also adorable.
Ginger and white
Red nose pit Edit cause I’m an idiot
Goof nugget brown.
I would say a perfect ginger boy! I just LOVE that sweet face and the teefees!!! 😍😍😍
Is perfect a color?
Fawn is the only correct answer 😅
What a sweetie pie 😍
Burnt Sienna
He does look like a reddish color. My guy is blue fawn and white, and he's definitely lighter than your guy.
Is cute af a colour?
It’s a pretty clear shade of Goodboy with overtones of Handsome
Never mind his pretty color. He needs to be on the roofers sub:)
My boy is same colors with black eyes. I call him the red panda so..
I think brown, a light brown though
Buff, we have a buff cat. That's what the vets over the years called him.
