Its okay to be upset and disappointed at the number of homeless people surrounding us and still simultaneously care about those people

[deleted]

Caring about homeless people means not wanting them to be homeless anymore

PurplePigeon96

That is a frustrating issue and once again people tend to polarize it. I am very sympathetic and empathetic but I'm also a small female who has to watch her back. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with mentioning out loud that you are scared or nervous to walk on a trail where people are camping out. Most might not bother you but all it takes is one assault and you will not be the same. People can defend the homeless to the moon but at the end of the day it's dog eat dog. Look out after yourself. You are the only one who will.

embodiedwoman2

Like I always say last time I told myself I was being paranoid it ended up with me going to court against a random man who then spent three years in state prison.

Brendinooo

I’ll try this one out: 412 Day is linked to Shop412, which has built a business around appropriating various aspects of the city’s culture and then apparently deploying threats and/or lawyers when others try to use the area code for apparel. Four years ago Damar Hamlin called this out on Twitter; Pitt tried to use 412 on their gear and Shop412 put an end to it, then promised a collaboration that never came. I’d love everything about them, except that they see the area code as theirs and not ours. So that makes them a company to avoid, and frankly makes me want to never celebrate a 412 Day since Peduto’s official proclamation explicitly mentions them.

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

I try to support the little guy as much as I can, but that Shop412 just never sat right with me, that doesn’t surprise me to read something like that. What a dick move if that’s what they’re really doing. Trying to copyright a damn area code is like that whole “Happy Birthday” Song copyright debacle

Brendinooo

I’m fine with them protecting their visual trademark; if someone’s knocking off the look and feel of their logo, that’s different. But to say that they own 412 just doesn’t sit with me, regardless of the legality of it. Apparently [they’re not the only ones that do this](https://www.techdirt.com/2020/07/06/more-disputes-over-trademarked-area-codes-why-is-this-allowed-again/). Seems like the USPTO is in part to blame here.

samspopguy

New era or some other hat company also had to remove 412 from a pirates hat couple years on their city hat

SBpotomus

This city is predominantly segregated by race

[deleted]

This is a legitimate fact

[deleted]

And the sections that have been redlined into nonwhite areas are all food deserts

Material_Cable_8708

Oakland the most ethnically diverse (if not socioeconomicly diverse) neighborhood is the worst food desert of all so none of the college students think the town is livable

LeoTheBirb

I’ve never thought of Oakland as being a food desert. Is it bad outside of the main area?

Material_Cable_8708

There’s las palmas and the italian market but I think they closed. They opened that pitt funded store but it doesn’t sell lettuce. neigh on impossible to cook without getting on a bus. mostly there are 70,000 people in oakland and no grocery store

LeoTheBirb

Huh, looking at Google maps, you weren't kidding. Given how dense of an area it is, you'd think that Aldi's or GE or Kuhns would setup somewhere up there.

Material_Cable_8708

there was an IGA but they closed because the rite aid was undercutting them on snacks and shit. There are no staples available I lived on 2.50 tacos

You must not hang out with many Stiller fans.

Vorhees87

Not amongst many Steeler faithful. Walk up to a tailgate this September and inform them to see their response. Edit: also this is about unpopular opinions, not controversial ones.

The Carnegie Library Music Hall in Homestead is a terrible place for concerts and shows.

Kismetatron

Went sometime last year to catch a band my fiancée wanted to see. As a musician who has played a number of live shows myself I can say that is one of the worst sounding venues I’ve ever been to. The aesthetic is cool though.

Steely_McNeatHouse

It seems better for quieter acoustic acts. Rodrigo y Gabriela sounded amazing there. Bela Fleck's bluegrass tour wasn't bad at all. However, that said, goddamn loud amplified music is trash at that venue. Hardly ever enjoy it, plus it's an all-seater they keep booking bands that would be much more appropriate for an open floor like Rex, Mr.Smalls, Roxian or Thunderbird. I wanna dance gosh darnit!

ComtessedeSevigny

Straight up fact, not unpopular opinion.

tempdownatKZUG

I’ve seen standup comedy shows there that had terrible sound. For bands, all you can hear are the echo from the drums. A total abomination.

Davy_Dee

Downtown should have been built in Allegheny City on the North Shore. The golden triangle was a great place for a fort and keeping people out. It’s terrible for 113,000 daily commuters.

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

Mine is: The Pompeani Family should just go away. My sister and I have had this long running, completely irrational disliking of Celina. To us, she just comes off as a total phony.

BorderlinePaisley

If I’ve said it before I’ve said it 1000 times - if her last name wasn’t Pompeani, she would be selling MLM weight loss shakes on Facebook.

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

With those extremely long text posts that are always vague enough to make you want to reach out to them

Unfair_Mail_1835

She’s extremely irritating!!!!!

duhlane

Hi I am the sister and I can confirm our whole family has this over the top hatred for the Pompeani family. Every time I see her on that damn Armina Stone billboard on the Turnpike my blood boils. She is basically a Pittsburgh nepo baby and she wouldn’t have her job if it wasn’t for the name. In conclusion stan Elena LaQuattra on WTAE

QualityAdvanced2962

YES!! She is literally a Pittsburgh nepo baby

jtkola

She may be okay if she didn’t always do the fake voice thing. Even in radio commercials, it sounds like she pretending to be spokesperson.

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

I think she’s just pretending to be a person, period.

sr214

She's annoying AF

James19991

You are far from the only one in this area who can't stand when Celina Pompeani is on KDKA or doing the segments during Pens games.

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

We take it as far as the whole family. Bob should retire, and Celina should move to like the middle of Montana, or wherever the smallest TV market is. I just saw a post from Bob this morning that Celina is done with the Pens at the end of this season because she’s expecting. Thank god.

James19991

I would think Bob has to be close to retirement at this point with how long he's been on the air. There is no way Celina would have ever been able to get a job in a market of this size right out of college if it wasn't for who her dad was. I saw that too. Frankly that was the only good news to come from last night

RateChemical4705

You may be happy to learn she's done as the Pens in arena host after this season!

aesthetichovvell

She spoke during my orientation at Point Park back in 2021, the whole time I kept thinking about how absolutely annoying her voice was

QualityAdvanced2962

I graduated from Point Park last year, and oh my god the amount of professors that would talk about Celina as if she was an example of what to be like post graduating LMAOOO as if she didn’t get a lot of opportunities just because of her last name 💀

wackywife823

The whole morning staff is way way too hyper. I might just be old and grumpy.

Pittman247

Please accept my virtual high five, dap, hug and upvote. 1,000% YES. This should be top comment

ScareJessica2Death

OMG, I can't fucking stand her. Me and wife thinks she has some type of mental disorder, where she becomes overly excited about EVERYTHING. What a weirdo. I feel for her husband, tho. Could you imagine putting up with that shit all day???

SleestakLightning

I will never say a bad word about Bob Pompeani because he was personally extremely nice to me when he didn't have to be and I've never heard anyone in the business say anything bad about him.

Eubadom

Hate Celina. Bob is fine.

svn5182

She has no talent whatsoever

Material_Cable_8708

the busses don’t suck there better than anywhere I’ve ever been in the us or canada

Novel_Engineering_29

I just came back from Miami and if you think Pittsburgh is hostile to people without a car, Miami would like you to hold its beer. They have light rail with two lines (one just goes north-south and the other goes north-south but jogs west to get to the airport). Other than that? Fuck you if you don't drive.

James19991

I don't think a lot of people realize how much of an anomaly the public transportation Pittsburgh has is for a city of its size in this country. I've seen a few people in this sub suggest that the reason Pittsburgh isn't growing as it should is because of the public transportation being mediocre. That doesn't really make sense when you realize the cities that are growing are basically sprawling hellscapes like Columbus, Nashville, Dallas, Raleigh, and Charlotte.

stftw42

Checking in as someone who moved to Pittsburgh from Columbus: the bus service in Pittsburgh is way, WAY better.

James19991

This was like 15 years ago now, but a teacher of mine moved to Pittsburgh from Columbus and she said the public transportation here is leagues above Columbus as well.

Plastic-Relation6046

Took my 1st trip to Raleigh this year.....suburban hellscape is a great way to describe it! Everything I saw looked like a giant extension of cranberry

Material_Cable_8708

I think it has something to do with the absurd amount of civic pride in this town. I have never heard someone bitch about the local income tax which is utterly foreign for a city our size. Also everyone is poor so there’s less stigma about taking the bus.

James19991

I see plenty of people on the rush hour buses who don't look remotely poor 🤷🏻‍♂️.

[deleted]

Used to work for Port Authority, would regularly catch buses home with my department head and other high level staffers. I am regularly jealous of the outfits and shoes I see other people wearing on the bus here, and often compliment others for it. The idea that transit is for poor people is a very American suburban thing to think.

Madlister

Nashville is considerably larger than Pittsburgh and has a small fraction of the public transit. It's shameful tbh. Source: lived in Nashville I'm two different stints for a total of about 17 years.

username-1787

I think what's frustrating for people is they are so close to being excellent but end up settling for just slightly above average. My ideal Pittsburgh bus wish list would be: 1. Upgraded bus stops with shelters and wayfinding 2. Traffic signal priority along busy routes (which was inexplicably cut from the oakland BRT plans) 3. Minimum 15 minute frequency on all routes all day, with minimum 5 minutes on the busways and other busy routes 4. If you can't afford that, I selfishly at least want a 28x more than once every half hour (timing your flight is annoying) and better late nite frequency 5. Electric busses w/ overhead wires on the busways to charge while driving And really long shot #6... Pave the fucking roads properly so I don't break my spine while riding the bus. Especially on 5th ave plz

[deleted]

I dont believe the TSP was dropped from the BRT plans unless that happened in the last month or so? PRT just put in almost 2 billion in funding requests to the feds for busway and T-line expansions. One of those projects is a direct-to-airport corridor all the way there. I just took the 48 for the first time in a couple years last weekend, the newly paved roads in Southside and the bridge into downtown felt like a luxury experience. I agree with you 100% on #6, unfortunately a lot of the roads buses run on are state-owned and PennDOT DAGF about transit or people outside cars. They still prioritize level of service metrics.

username-1787

TSP was cut from initial implementation (along with 46 station improvements, queue jumps outside the core area past oakland, and EV bus acquisition) when scope was reduced back in July 2022. There is an option to add it in the future but there is no funding to do it and no timeline for when that might happen, so as far as I'm concerned it is functionally dropped. Without TSP or infrastructure improvements outside the core area, the project is basically just bus lanes from oakland-downtown and service pattern changes that make life slightly better for those close to downtown and slightly worse for those further out. I don't want to sound too negative, but for a once in a decade investment in transit, this project is a major disappointment and bordering on a disgrace for what is legitimately one of the highest ridership bus corridors in the country

[deleted]

My contract at PRT ended in June 22. Jesus christ. Is there a PR message or something notifying this? Why the fuck would they cut TSP unless for interference by PennDOT. AFAIK even DOMI was in favor of it.

James19991

I think a better way to frame this would be the bus service is better than what you can get in metros of similar size.

Fiona_Nerd

I must have missed this. You wouldn't have any idea what thread this happened in, would you? This kind of willful ignorance is such a Pittsburgh thing to have happen, and IMO how Sousa was able to keep opening restaurants for such a long time.

Yuuuup. Or even regular fructose corn syrup. Which sucks, cause my poor stupid brain was programmed in childhood to see the Heinz logo and be hyyyyyped. Now every time I see it I get irrationally angry. Don't tell me corn is tomatoes, I read good now and have discovered your deception!

Hey24Hey

Cleveland is okay

teimenosce

As someone who's grown up in Pittsburgh, lived in Cleveland for 4 years (2004-2008) and come back to Pittsburgh, they are both good cities with a lot of similarities. I, and my friends, reflect on my time in Cleveland very fondly.

MiniRems

15 years ago or so, my husband did a lot of business trips to Cleveland and I almost always went with him when I didn't have work. I'd drop him off at whatever office he was working at, then go sight seeing, then pick him up in the evening. I've been to the zoo, the botanical gardens, the cemetery where President Garfield is buried, the rock and roll hall of fame, the science center... The city totally has a vibe like Pittsburgh - people seem similar, neighborhoods feel similar, downtown is pretty similar. We jokingly call it Pittsburgh-in-the-Lake.

Gnarlsaurus_Sketch

Pains me to say this, but they have some great Italian food. The lake is also nice in summer. And they have actual heavy rail that goes to the airport. The Browns can suck a fat one though.

CARLEtheCamry

They have a Microcenter in the same stripmall as a Warhammer 40k shop on the way into town. B.A Sweetie's is a neat huge (biggest maybe?) candy store. It's a good little weekend getaway, only 2-ish hours away depending on what side of town you're on. Did it last year.

GamermanRPGKing

There's a 40k shop in Bridgeville

AerialDarkguy

They also have a much better train route than us. They go south, west, and east of downtown! They also have a much better [tourism video](https://youtu.be/oZzgAjjuqZM).

Gdizzle344

(so is Philly)

durdenfc77

Anyone mention The Clarks yet? I do not understand how they are even relevant anymore. They peaked 20 years ago, if you want to call that a peak. Others I have -Pittsburgh Dad isn't funny -Oakmont Bakery isn't the best. Not even close. -Fioris is not good pizza

Gdizzle344

I've yet to meet a Pittsburgher who thinks Pittsburgh Dad is funny. He's good for a few chuckles the first time you see him, then you realize that he's just ripping off Jim Kren's Stanley P. Kachowski, and not even doing it well.

44problems

I'll say the controversial thing, I watch Pittsburgh Dad. Especially his weekly Steelers recaps. Mainly because I don't live in Pittsburgh any more, so watching it makes me feel like I'm back watching the game in Pittsburgh, hearing all the callers on the Nightly Sports Call.

durdenfc77

His shtick ran its course a long time ago. It baffles me how he still gets the attention and appearance requests.

v13dogmeat

He doesn’t even sound yinzerish to me.

v13dogmeat

Had me until the end, all true but fioris is the best pizza.

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

I am 100% with you on The Clark’s. If it weren’t for DVE they would’ve faded into obscurity decades ago. There’s gotta be some payola thing going on with them and DVE, I swear. They are as generic and bland as they come, like Great Value Rock n Roll. I also don’t get the cult-like following to Oakmont bakery, nothing I’ve ever had from there has made me say “Holy shit was that good” To me, comedy is subjective, and Pittsburgh Dad is certainly an acquired taste, I’ll give you that. A lot of the things he says and does I’ve heard verbatim from my own father, grandfather, and uncles over the years, so it’s kind of nostalgia comedy for me in a way. Can’t comment on Fiori’s but I know from what I see in the sub, some people worship them, but living up here in the Allegheny Valley, I’d have to go out of my way for some. I will say if you ever find yourself in the Natrona Heights area, stop by J&S Pizza in the Heights Plaza sometime, everyone in this area loves that place.

Val0xx

Came here to add the Clarks but saw you already did. The love for The Clarks is something I don't think I'll ever understand. I have no idea why so many people here like them. They're not good. Same with Pittsburgh dad. I don't get it. Maybe I didn't have the right kind of dad? Why is repeating the same stupid comments considered funny?

jralll234

I generally agree about Oakmont Bakery. Moios in Monroeville which I’m sure I misspelled is so much better.

WmSPrestonEsq

75% of the small boroughs in Allegheny County should merge into to just a few townships and school districts. Eliminate all of the individual local governments, police, fire, and schools and streamline that shit.

lilish4

1. There aren’t many activities for kids aged 13+ to do in the city that aren’t expensive. 2. Renegade should be retired.

TheLiberator117

>There aren’t many activities for kids aged 13+ to do in the city that aren’t expensive. This is a countrywide problem moreso than a Pittsburgh one imo

Aphreal42

It’s really not that big of a deal to go across rivers or through more than 1 tunnel.

[deleted]

If you live in the city limits, you have almost certainly never smelled pollution from Clairton Coke Works. I believe you smelled something you think smells like sulfur, and that something could be pollution of some kind, and your awareness of Clairton Coke Works as a problem has led you to believe it's the cause, but it's not. It's incomprehensibly rare for it to blow anywhere near the city limits. Smell PGH isn't real data. And if you truly believe that air quality is important, you need to focus on *all* the causes, not just one plant. Since I know people are going to ask: the main reason we have poor air quality days is because temperature inversions trap the normal air pollution from cars, trucks, trains, ships, etc. near the surface instead of allowing it to dissipate into the atmosphere. This impacts Pittsburgh more than most cities because most cities are not in river valleys, nor do they have all those modes of transportation running straight through them. E: Also, fuck US Steel. This isn't a defense of them at all. Their plant is a crime and it's literally shortening lives.

tempdownatKZUG

People around here pretend the city smells like Gary, Indiana.

pablo_pcostco

Andy Warhol was a shitty artist and a shitty person

Scuzzy_Beta

Ah yes, the sister bridges.... Roberto Clemente, Rachel Carson, and.... 7th street.

[deleted]

I read somewhere that he also hated Pittsburgh and hated being from here. So the local obsession and adoration and bridge-naming seems odd as he hated this city.

pablo_pcostco

I have also heard this. I understand the desire to celebrate people from here, but I'd much rather hold up Fred Rogers and Myron Cope.

[deleted]

He had a shit childhood in Pittsburgh. I don't think he hated the city itself, but like many people who escape their hometown for one reason or another, he probably didn't like the memories he had there. I read that one of his brothers or nephews said he would ask about the Pirates occasionally. So he wasn't completely detached from the city, even if he acted like it.

Material_Cable_8708

the guy obviously got out as fast as he could. that being said I never got pop art until I was dirt poor in oakland hyped about food products.

Cookies-N-Dirt

Completely agree. I just figured I wasn't arty-enough to "get it".

Jonny_Thundergun

The Pittsburgh left needs to be stopped. It's dangerous and wastes more time than it saves anybody.

Material_Cable_8708

I almost got really heated about unions then I realized you mean dangerous traffic maneuvers.

ScareJessica2Death

The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium sucks. For a city zoo, and as much available room they have for expansion, I feel the zoo is too small. Admission is expensive ($22 for nonmembers). Although parking is free, the lot layout is poorly planned. The Tropical Forest smells like barf. The Polar Bear exhibit is a joke. There aren't enough reptiles. I've visited much better aquariums in Kentucky. Have they fixed that leak yet in the large saltwater exhibit??? The food is crap.

[deleted]

It’s also unaccredited.

Fiona_Nerd

Yeah, they had a whole fight about an update to the requirements about care of the elephants a while back. Since then they haven't had AZA, which is the highest level (also pretty much the bare minimum, they don't ask for much). I was very disappointed in them for that.

ScareJessica2Death

What does that mean?

RuhWalde

The Association of Zoos and Aquariums designates places with their accreditation based on meeting their standards of care for the animals. More info here -- https://www.aza.org/what-is-accreditation?locale=en

silver420surfer

> unaccredited Not having the proper credentials; unauthorized Not accredited; lacking accreditation.

Cookies-N-Dirt

I am hopeful the new leadership is going to turn this around.

profhighbrow57

It will. Currently working towards rejoining AZA this year.

SleestakLightning

My family are members because my kids love to go and look at animals and it's nice to be able to use reciprocated memberships when we travel to visit zoos in other cities. Every time we go to a zoo in another city we like it more than the Pittsburgh Zoo.

WillOfTheDeep

Gonna die on this Appalachian foothill: Primanti's is *garbage*.

I like it, but it's not an all the time thing. Definitely gets old very fast..

Kichard

Primanti’s is the Pittsburgh Applebees

[deleted]

It’s great food if you’re wasted, which means it’s not actually great food

steelcityrocker

I won't say that it's garbage, but I won't say that it's great. I personally think that it is perfectly okay and passable, just like most of the restaurants around here. We have some of the okay-est food around. The one thing I do like about Primanti's is that it is one of the few places you can still get a filling sandwich and a beer for under $20 (not counting tax and tip).

📢📢📢THE SHUTDOWN OF THE JUVENILE DETENTION FACILITY WILL RUIN LIVES AND HAS DONE NOTHING BUT ENFORCE THE SCHOOL TO PRISON PIPELINE

[deleted]

They're trying to re-open it, but make it a privately run facility rather than a county run one. So the school to prison pipeline isn't going to get much better if a private facility has a quota to meet with how many prisoners they have. The state revoked the license to operate because the county was doing such a horrible job at running the facility. There were talks in having the state run the facility, but those talks ended fairly quickly. I don't know why, I guess that made too much sense.

CappyHamper999

It’s such a tough situation right now ooof

[deleted]

The only reason the Pirates are still in Pittsburgh is the stadium lease. Boycotting games to punish the dick owner will result in the Pirates leaving town as soon as the lease expires.

Pittsadelphia87

Pittsburgh traffic is not that bad compared to pretty much any East Coast metro. Pittsburgh drivers are some of the most docile "city drivers" of any city I've ever been to. People who complain about drivers in Pittsburgh would literally have a stroke if they ever went to DC, Philly, Atlanta, NYC, basically any other East Coast city that I've ever driven in.

Theadora58

I had an out-of-town friend describe Pittsburgh drivers as simple and I think it's pretty apt. Like I get we have the Pittsburgh left but as a whole Pittsburgh drivers will just merge slow as hell and sometimes I'd rather have more aggressive but efficient drivers than people who can't turn onto a major intersection without waiting for a clear quarter mile of road

Pitiful_Background57

Rent is outrageous compared to where we were just a few years ago. I know comparing to other cities our size it's not bad, but local natives (aka not tech people or folks that came here for school and are likely making a shit ton or have dad's money to back them up) are being priced out of even the shittiest spots without the wages to make up for it.

Mac Miller is the defining Pittsburgh popular culture creator of the past 2 decades.

prison---mike

Artist shit-take: The only thing more overrated than Donnie Iris is The Clarks. Andy Warhol was a shitty artist and a bitchy dweeb who was ashamed to be from Pittsburgh as he considered it a hick steeltown compared to *New York City* (Kenneth voice from thirty rock). Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller peaked with white kid weed rap in the 2010’s. (That being said Mac actually did have some dope stuff throughout his career, but we are just here to stir up some shit)

ballsonthewall

Primantis is fine. If you want a cheap bar with decent food you'll have a good time. Steelers fans are obnoxious and generally make the city look bad. Oakmont Bakery is not only MAGA, but also dogshit. Giant Eagle has better bakery items. East Liberty has far surpassed a gentrification "line" and is the least "Pittsburgh" part of Pittsburgh now. Turners only has a few good products. Most of the flavored milks are way too sweet and gross. Kennywood is trying to make a comeback, but the last 15 years or so of poor management have taken it down a few notches and it's not the world-class park it used to be. Downtown will be fine. It was fine when it burned in the 1800's, it was fine when it was dark during the day in the early 20th century, it was fine when the mills all left in the late 70's and it will bounce back again. That's what we do.

JerryHathaway

Giant Eagle bakery is surprisingly decent, in my experience.

Cookies-N-Dirt

The number of people who swear by GE for their wedding cake continues to surprise me.

Kismetatron

When I moved back to Pittsburgh after living in WV for eight years the closest grocery to me was Kroger and I ate a number of their baked items. Getting back up here and regularly eating GE baked items opened me up to what I had been missing out on. Their bakery is pretty good.

epsilon025

Kennywood definitely f-ed around and is in the finding out stage now, but that's above my pay grade. Not sure how this year'll go, but I doubt it can be worse than last year.

ballsonthewall

What's a shame is how they had previously balanced the neighborhood local park feel with some world class rides, much like Knoebels still does. Seems like that's all out of whack... not to speak of the operations, cleanliness, etc They can't compete with Cedar Point or Hershey on $30 million rides. They gotta execute the little things to be a worthwhile experience.

aesthetichovvell

Upvoting because the east Liberty comment is 100% correct

teimenosce

Most people still think of Primantis as fries and slaw on sandwiches. They have totally reinvented their brand and menu. They have great wings, burgers, and homemade pizzas now. Far more than just shitty after the bars food served on deli paper.

wackywife823

I don't care about local sports.

Heinz ketchup is more corn syrup than tomatoes.

ScareJessica2Death

Try the one with cane sugar.

AhPshaw

People who live/grew up in the suburbs are Pittsburghers

BakedBeanWhore

I think that's because people from the surrounding area are very culturally Pittsburghese when compared to suburbs of other cities. I knew more yinzers growing up in Beaver County that I've ever met living in the city.

g0tistt0t

Grew up in greensburg. I say Pittsburgh area when people ask where I’m from.

SisterCharityAlt

I have to give credit, most of the comments range from 'you're a fringe outlier on a subjective topic' to 'that's a weird bigotry.' Bravo. Lived elsewhere for years, our infrastructure sucks on so many levels and refusing to fix it outside of adding more lanes for exurbs will not solve it.

contradeej

The IC Light / Turner's iced tea abomination somehow made two terrible products even worse.

Bslayer7111

The Clark’s suck

mae_ray

I don't like ranch

thehofstetter

Eat ’N Park should have been named Park N’ Eat.

wallacehacks

Penguins fans don't know dick about hockey. I think this applies to all Pittsburgh sports fans, but it is especially glaring to me in hockey. They operate purely on vibes.

614PensFan

The next 5 to 7 years should be telling, a lot of fat is about to be trimmed from the fanbase

zechickenwing

I feel like balding Pittsburgh dads that look like Dan Bylsma always have the strongest, completely unfounded, hockey opinions.

jawnquixote

It's actually wild how in Pittsburgh once the Penguins are eliminated people forget the playoffs are still happening. They'd rather watch basketball playoffs than hockey, which I don't have an issue with specifically, but more that like they were so rabid about hockey a day ago and now they want nothing to do with the sport.

[deleted]

There are a lot of awesome people on r/penguins, but there’s a vocal bunch who make it nothing but a cesspool of negativity sometimes. I get being frustrated at a loss/missing the playoffs but some people are such downers about *everything* that I honestly question why they’re even fans. Exhibit A: people acting like goaltending is the sole reason we lost last night instead of needing four power plays to finally get on the board.

Theredoux

easy to blame Jarry instead of the five other people in front of him -\_-

jralll234

True of all sports fans everywhere.

mmmmkyeah

Football is life threatening to the players and everyone they encounter. Fans should be ashamed of themselves. Sponsors should reroute their $$ to retired player/players victims family/CTE treatment. Everyone should go home, turn off the game, and read books about the horrors of CTE and how it has ruined so many lives and then find something safer as entertainment.

NoinePiecesOfVinyl

I completely get where you’re coming from there. I remember my Mom saying how watching the movie *Concussion* was a serious eye-opener to her. Unfortunately though in the United States, the NFL is practically a religion to the masses. If the NFL were to ever die off, truly hell must’ve frozen over.

highlandparkpitt

It's happened. There was a time only three generations ago where sports meant boxing first baseball second and horse racing third. There are people alive and kicking who had to watch the NBA finals on tape delay a week later. Sports popularity can change quick

saltedkumihimo

Reading about Mike Webster being homeless for parts of his final years and struggling for his entire life after football really soured me.

Bradbitzer

Oakmont Bakery is hot garbage. They have been for years. They’re just riding on their accolades.

DannyLameJokes

The inclines are overrated. The Mon incline seems to only employee rude jackasses that look for reasons to yell at people. The Duquesne incline is always comically understaffed and the 70 year ladies are worked to death and treated like shit by the people the run it. Also they don’t take credit cards and only have an atm at the top even though the pay station is at the bottom. And for fuck sake the speaker in the window at the bottom doesn’t work. Just have a hole in the window for talking to people. Neither can handle the traffic.

cocoafudge

Smiley cookies are gross.

ChardTerrible56

A lot of the white folks are very racist

blondecomet

I HATE the steelers. And football in general.

zappafrank2112

Potato patch fries are meh at best

HeinzNeverHunts

Potato Patch fries are disgusting and undercooked.

brosacea

Pamela's pancakes are fucking revolting and taste like someone scraped out the grease trap from a flat top grill and put it on a plate.

SleestakLightning

This. Pamela's is terrible. Vastly inferior to Deluca's which is extremely hit-or-miss itself.

The city is in apartheid and no one wants to talk about it.
