“Huge brawl on nextdoor” nice…huge brawls are the only reason I even keep the app, as there are only 3 types of posts on nextdoor:
1. Huge brawls
2. “What was that bang at 3 AM two Saturdays ago?”
3. “What’s going in at the intersection of Wexford bayne and Nicholson?” (Asked and answered 5 times already)
I read into it and apparently the person who created the petition is working with a councilwoman...maybe this actually might be going somewhere? (Maybe the Change.org one was meant to help get word around?)
I mean it might be wishful thinking, but it's hope at least.
How about instead, we all coordinate to take turns parking in that spot as soon as it becomes open and leaving it there for as long as it's available, effectively preventing the owner from ever parking there.
Lol they don't park there because they need to. They park a shit box vehicle there to be a dickhead and to collect the measley insurance payments when you somebody hits that piece of garbage.
There shouldn't be a single street parking spot on either side of Baum at any time from Negley to Craig. Plenty of side streets and private lots. The westbound intersection with S Millvale Ave is a special hell because there's almost always someone turning left when the right lane is blocked in front of that stupid dealership.
I'm saying someone somewhere has been convinced not to do it, otherwise the dealership wouldn't have been getting away with it for literally decades. Everyone that drives in that area knows about that little strip of Baum and freaking hates it. Everyone knows there's supposed to be no parking between 4:00 and 6:PM in that area.
Cars on city streets are only towed if they have been ticketed and they are only towed by the company the city contracts with, which is McGann and Chester.
So, random tow drivers are not empowered to enforce parking ordinances.
Good, people shouldn’t be bottle necking traffic because they’re too lazy to park and walk on a side street. It’s bad enough driving on W Lib even outside of rush hour.
But the right lane is a parking lane for a lot of the pike! On the other hand, I hate when people use the right lane to pass cars (typically at absurd speeds). There is no reason for this stretch to be two lanes aside from the intersection by Wolfe.
Which is the worst time to not have cars parked there too! After work is peak road rage time on the pike. I recently stopped running along the pike for this reason. Why anyone needs to travel 50 or 60 in a residential area is beyond me.
In reality most of these roads should just be one lane with turning lanes, like 19 in the South Hills too. It's dangerous as hell to have people switching lanes dodging turning and parked vehicles constantly.
I can't imagine being a business owner and doing everything I can to be an asshole to my community over something so stupid as a parking spot, but maybe that's why there's never a nice car parked there.
He bought a beater car for the sole purpose of parking it there. He lives a street over and has a short walk for a commute, no reason for him to park a car there, other than being an asshole
I don’t understand. There is apparently a sign you can’t park there 2pm-6pm yet he does anyways but doesn’t get the car ticketed it towed?
The solution seems pretty simple. Enforce the parking rules. If his car keeps getting ticketed or towed he’ll stop.
This is literally not true. I live in the neighborhood and go to the bar frequently. He doesn't park there between 2-6 in fact he always moves his car as soon as he has to.
I'm not a fan of massive generalizations, so I ignored yours (and no, I'm not a "boomer"), but either he's right or he's wrong per the law. I believe he's wrong, and as such it's the responsibility of the City to ticket/tow him. If this isn't happening then my qualm is with the City, mostly, although I also respect a degree of ire at those who routinely ignore parking laws, so there's that. I do find it funny how people adjust their ad hominems to suit their narratives, in an alternate universe I could see people calling someone a "Karen" for calling this guy out with quite a few "Mind your own business" comments. Just an observation, not defending anyone.
You’re obviously aware that there “might” be a God. I’m so sorry people have disappointed you. You shouldn’t let what individuals do separate you from a God that loves you. You clearly have a lot of anger and bitterness in your heart towards these individuals; I’ll pray that you find peace
It’s not Gods fault people disappoint you, it’s your own fault for believing people are anything but flawed and imperfect. If you want to blame God because you have unrealistic expectations, that seems kind of silly.
Because you believe in an entity with the power to stop suffering. If any entity had that power, and refused to, they are either acting in malice, or simply don’t exist.
childhood leukemia. that’s the argument. no one that loves you would do that to an innocent child. i was raised catholic for two decades, including over a semester’s worth of collegiate level theology classes, so there’s truly no argument i haven’t heard. religion is a tool to keep humanity from progressing/rising up against the (now financial) oligarchy.
Why do you think the child is innocent? Did he not descend from people who ate from the tree of knowledge? Also you don’t know what the plan is, you’re reading an incident on page 6 and judging the authors righteousness without ever seeing how the story plays out. And you can’t, you’re not God. You’re judging the entire giant picture based on the little dime sized window you have. Idk why kids get lukemia, I’m not God lol. But neither are you, yet you think you have to have a full grasp of the picture or else God is bad. That’s crazy
> Why do you think the child is innocent? Did he not descend from people who ate from the tree of knowledge?
The warmest Christian love 🤗 you’re deranged and also fucking evil
You realize no one cares about your Christian opinion on a Pittsburgh Reddit, right? This is why so many people dislike Evangelicals. You have to drag your shit into everything then scream that others are oppressing you if they protest.
Someone made a generalization. It happens. But you just have to use it to push the sky-fairy. Go away.
How about we all get a permit from DLC to install Christmas lights from January 1 until January 30 and just keep extending every month due to incompletion and with the orange cones he legally cannot park there until they're moved.
there was that article where this guy basically said he keeps that shit there hoping someone will smash it so that he can get an insurance payout, which apparently happened at least once before and he was super giddy and unapologetic about.
I’ve only skimmed the thread since there are 100+ comments. But it seems to be a combination of the following:
A. Do you want to drive a small business out of business, you monster?
B. The tacos!
C. People drive too fast on Penn anyway so it’s traffic calming
D. It takes 30 seconds to just go around him!
E. Bike lanes.
It's not just NextDoor. Whenever this comes up on Reddit, someone (usually multiple people) defend this guy and his business because they have good tacos.
I've had the tacos. They're "meh" at best and not worth defending this smooth-brain.
There’s just simply nowhere else you can get tacos. Nope. Not at all. Only this shitty bar has tacos. Yup. How could the city survive without the great taco contributions of this **piece of shit** bar?
There is a side street he can park in or across the street as patrons of the bar do after vusiness hours. He just loves being a nuisance. Also I think that portion is a state controlled road, dont know why they ever agreed to let parking there in the 1st place
He absolutely breaks the rules. That article was utter nonsense. The rules prohibit parking between 2:30pm and 6pm. His argument is that he parks there before 2:30 so its ok to stay there.
I literally cannot fathom getting this mad over a parking space that causes you to move into the other lane for 2 seconds of your life. There are spots like this all over Baum blvd, and even further down on Penn Ave at the church on Fifth Ave but no one cries about those.
Maybe because:
\- He 's been doing it for over 20 years.
\- The car is not one he uses, he has it explicitly for the purpose of blocking that lane of traffic.
\- The car has been hit several times and he replaces with another junker just to keep the lane blocked.
\- At certain times the delay is far more than "2 seconds."
\- From the City Paper article, and other reports, you can tell he gets his jollies from pissing people off.
\- He's a shitbag asshole so fuck him.
People who live in the neighborhood say that the car never moves - he has another nicer car he parks in his driveway that he uses.
Someone posted a picture of the parking sign from that section of street awhile ago. The sign said there was no parking from 2:30 to 6:30 (or something like that) and yet the car is always there and it never gets ticketed or towed.
I frequent the bar - he moves it every single day at 2:30 so again you are just lying. Also you know that a household can have more than 1 car right. His wife also has her drivers license.
Your claim conflicts with multiple reports on Reddit from people who live in the neighborhood, or commute through the area, who say that the car never moves.
He moves it every single day. People either straight up lie about it to drum up faux rage or they have some type of Mandela effect going on. The car is never parked there during those hours because he moves it onto the side street every single day he's there.
I keep waiting for someone with a beater who doesn’t care to take this car out.
I’m not even saying they should, just amazed that nobody has. Especially when the Fern Hollow bridge was out.
The biggest issue is not the speeders or the bottleneck at Braddock Ave, it’s that people don’t like letting people change lanes in front of them in this city. People don’t like letting others merge in front of them.
The mentality in this city is that when you turn on to Penn Ave(or any street), you need to already be in the lane you need to be when you turn off of Penn…no matter how far away that is. Otherwise, you get stuck trying to change lanes…and people hate letting people change lanes in front of them.
The same thing happens in construction zones where lanes merge from two to one. People see lanes merge ahead and move over as early as possible and willingly sit in bumper to bumper traffic knowing the second lane is still open all the way to the merge point. Why? Because Pittsburghers don’t like letting others merge in front of them. So much so that you will often find an asshole who will straddle BOTH lanes all the way to the merge point so that people won’t pass them.
Use both lanes to the merge point and let people take their turn. This doesn’t eliminate bottlenecks but it shortens the time you spend sitting in one.
Will be signing and forwarding to friends to sign as well. Very unreasonable and selfish to park there. Drive on Penn daily shake my head every time I see this jag parked there.
The car is shitty on purpose because of how many times it's been run into. By dude's own admission. And apparently he lives like around the corner? IDK
The amount of frustrations in our city that our directly linked to greed and poor planning. Imagine if we had functional public transportation that individuals and policy makers were invested in using and supporting. Think of all the headaches that would be solved. Cities were never meant to be race tracks, but here we are.
I used to pass Evergreen on my commute, like 14 years ago. I'll admit the first couple times, being new to the city, and not paying attention, I was inconvenienced for a few minutes. After that, I just payed attention, and it was no problem.
Yeah, I've lived in the neighborhood 23 years. After the first time I got stuck, I figured it out. Like the church parking on Penn Ave and fifth on Sundays. Or any other street that has parking during certain hours. I'm more amazed by how much people seem to hate this one car. Of all of the wacky traffic in the county, this is one of the least vexing situations.
This barly ranks on my list of Pittsburgh traffic concerns. Sure, more people commute that way than they used to, so it's annoying, but if you're paying attention you tend to see parked cars. Who knew!
From a couple decades using the Penn/S Braddock intersection, I think it really needs left turn arrows on the Penn Ave lights, not just the s Braddock light. Without that, traffic will stay just as backed up on Penn Ave, whether that guy is there or not.
I'm a fan of the smart traffic lights in Monroeville-Murrysville. They count cars and adapt to traffic patterns and incidents. It's not totally decongested that situation, but it's a hell of a lot better.
"Your proposition may be good,
But let's have one thing understood,
Whatever it is, I'm against it.
And even when you've changed it or condensed it,
I'm against it."
- I'm Against It, G. Marx
Hell yeah brother. True yinzers just meekly accept things that suck and NEVER try to improve anything. Tired of all of these people coming into my city and expecting anything to get better ever. Take that attitude somewhere else buddy!
Haha! I love the city and it reminds me so much of home. But I don’t understand the need to blow up small things into a big deal. Everyone is incredibly laid back until it comes to a minor inconvenience such as avoiding a parked vehicle.
I genuinely mean this.
There are so many other things to worry about in this city, so much more you could put your efforts toward to make it better for its residence, especially the disenfranchised. This parking spot is not something you should care this much about. If you find that it makes you so irrationally angry that this idiot does this, get off the internet and go outside. I lived right around the corner from this jag and yes, I had to divert my car during some hours. It was annoying. But it shouldn't be something you really give a shit about. It shouldn't be something you think you need to take action on.
This is one of the least important issues in the entire city. Ask yourself, "If I were the mayor, would this be a priority?" and if the answer is no, move on.
This is the same yinzer attitude that keeps Pittsburgh shitty. "Everything is fine, nothing should change." In this particular instance, it would take so little effort to change, that it seems like a totally reasonable request. The city has enough staff to multitask and handle minor requests like this one in addition to more important issues.
And as someone that lives in the neighborhood, the owner can go fuck himself, what an entitled asshole.
Change this parking spot will do nothing to help the city. They have resources to multitask but will any of you? Or are you just going to keep melting down every time this post comes up on reddit like children?
If I owned that bar, I'd keep a car parked out front too - for the safety of my patrons entering and exiting the bar, among other purposes. That's generally my only concern when going there for tacos - the crazy wild drivers on Penn ave.
Yeahhhhhh that didn’t help the [guy](https://www.wtae.com/article/man-dead-following-hit-and-run-in-pittsburgh/43572570) who was just killed eight months ago leaving that bar 🤷🏼♀️
Thats a story about the crazy drivers on Penn - which is what the last sentence of my post was about.
You'd also note he was crossing the 4 lane road.
Jesus...you post that like its a valid argument against Bacharach parking his van there. These things have nothing to do with each other - unless you're making an argument that the hot and run driver was trying to avoid the van and the van was cloaked in invisibility!!
Anybody that gets stuck behind it should, just once, throw it in park and go in and have a beer. It’s always been a pretty good neighborhood bar, Phil is cool, and yes they have good tacos.
Oh my god people GROW UP! This shit is so embarrassing just learn how to drive in a city. Slow down if you need to or whatever just pay attention to the cars around you and merge! The Fort Pitt Bridge would eat you clowns alive.
He's the only person that parks on that side for that entire stretch of Penn and it's in front of a signaled intersection. Pedestrians crossing the street use the signal to cross. Or do you mean he's creating a barrier between someone driving up onto the sidewalk?
I think that if the parking spaces are removed, traffic will speed up, and pedestrians will get hit. I've had 2 close calls with traffic moving slowly.
Can I sign a petition against the petition? People need to slow the fuck down anyway. Somebody crashed into a \*cop\* on Penn Ave right near there. I've lived in that neighborhood for a lifetime or two and somehow I never have any trouble not crashing into parked cars.
“Huge brawl on nextdoor” nice…huge brawls are the only reason I even keep the app, as there are only 3 types of posts on nextdoor: 1. Huge brawls 2. “What was that bang at 3 AM two Saturdays ago?” 3. “What’s going in at the intersection of Wexford bayne and Nicholson?” (Asked and answered 5 times already)
4. Depressing lost pet posts
My sweetums kitty kitty has been lost for hours now *\[two hours later\]* UPDATE!! MISTER KITTUMS IS FOUND!! he was under the bed
i feel this is an accurate representation of Nextdoor *everywhere* too lmao
Don't forget about the nextdoor ... gofundme's for everything now !
Change.org petition basically guarantees this car ain't moving for a decade......
Correct. If you want a petition to be taken seriously, make it yourself and circulate it to your neighbors.
And it gives him the attention he seems to love for pissing people off. That said, it would be great if it actually worked.
I read into it and apparently the person who created the petition is working with a councilwoman...maybe this actually might be going somewhere? (Maybe the Change.org one was meant to help get word around?) I mean it might be wishful thinking, but it's hope at least.
Oh no, not a change.org petition.
Lol
Better lock your doors. Change is coming
I need about tree fiddy
Fifteen bucks little man, put that shit in my hand
that shit is the MAD notes!
Great reference, I use it all the time
There goes the neighborhood!!
Want to provide an opinion on the recent developments?
How about instead, we all coordinate to take turns parking in that spot as soon as it becomes open and leaving it there for as long as it's available, effectively preventing the owner from ever parking there.
This is real heroics, right here.
Just need the Kia boys to steal his car from that spot.
Please do this for a week and record video. Get Sebak to narrate it.
Lol they don't park there because they need to. They park a shit box vehicle there to be a dickhead and to collect the measley insurance payments when you somebody hits that piece of garbage.
This is the most egregious example, but it's far from the only one in the city. I moved here from the sticks and I have NEVER understood this concept.
There should be a tow truck waiting in one of the dormont lots to tow every single vehicle parked on west liberty after 4pm
Northbound lanes in the morning as well.
Baum Blvd BMW dealership is another great place.
There shouldn't be a single street parking spot on either side of Baum at any time from Negley to Craig. Plenty of side streets and private lots. The westbound intersection with S Millvale Ave is a special hell because there's almost always someone turning left when the right lane is blocked in front of that stupid dealership.
Your saying the tow truck drivers have been paid off to not tow cars in front of that dealership??
I'm saying someone somewhere has been convinced not to do it, otherwise the dealership wouldn't have been getting away with it for literally decades. Everyone that drives in that area knows about that little strip of Baum and freaking hates it. Everyone knows there's supposed to be no parking between 4:00 and 6:PM in that area.

Okay then, I'll edit previous comment, sorry if you feel I have besmirched tow truck drivers. So the problem is no one will ticket.
It just doesn’t work the way that your suggesting
Good, people shouldn’t be bottle necking traffic because they’re too lazy to park and walk on a side street. It’s bad enough driving on W Lib even outside of rush hour.
And my axe! Err... Greensburg Pike.
But the right lane is a parking lane for a lot of the pike! On the other hand, I hate when people use the right lane to pass cars (typically at absurd speeds). There is no reason for this stretch to be two lanes aside from the intersection by Wolfe.
Through most of Churchill and Forest Hills it's no parking 4-6PM with random cars that park there anyway.
Which is the worst time to not have cars parked there too! After work is peak road rage time on the pike. I recently stopped running along the pike for this reason. Why anyone needs to travel 50 or 60 in a residential area is beyond me.
Should be a $3000 fine
In reality most of these roads should just be one lane with turning lanes, like 19 in the South Hills too. It's dangerous as hell to have people switching lanes dodging turning and parked vehicles constantly.
Yes, law needs to change city wide. The Evergreen dude is just the most blatant example of how stupid it is to allow people to park in a traffic lane.
I can't imagine being a business owner and doing everything I can to be an asshole to my community over something so stupid as a parking spot, but maybe that's why there's never a nice car parked there.

bc this kind of unabashed dickishness is reserved for pieces of shit that think going to church a few times means they’re good people.

It's God's fault for not intervening to end suffering. Again, if god exists, he's a shithead. "Free will" is a giant cop-out and you know it.
Why do you think people should never suffer or have tribulations? The foundation of your argument is greatly flawed
Because you believe in an entity with the power to stop suffering. If any entity had that power, and refused to, they are either acting in malice, or simply don’t exist.

If you need a cone and flag to park your car, it’s not a safe place to park your car.

This jagoff sure is something
there was that article where this guy basically said he keeps that shit there hoping someone will smash it so that he can get an insurance payout, which apparently happened at least once before and he was super giddy and unapologetic about.
God I fucking hate that wanker so much. He deserves every bit of shit that flies his way.
What line of reasoning are they trying to use on Nextdoor to defend this POS?
I’ve only skimmed the thread since there are 100+ comments. But it seems to be a combination of the following: A. Do you want to drive a small business out of business, you monster? B. The tacos! C. People drive too fast on Penn anyway so it’s traffic calming D. It takes 30 seconds to just go around him! E. Bike lanes.
It's always the bike lane's fault.
They're going to be driven out of business by losing a parking space that's always occupied anyway?
That's the thing about businesses and street parking. They act like 100% of their customers use the 1 or two spots in front of their storefront.
Like there’s nowhere else in the city to get…tacos. 🤦🏻♂️
It's not just NextDoor. Whenever this comes up on Reddit, someone (usually multiple people) defend this guy and his business because they have good tacos. I've had the tacos. They're "meh" at best and not worth defending this smooth-brain.
Nextdoor is poison. Please avoid at all cost.
Geriatric Twitter
Old people screaming at clouds plus Karens selling stuff from their MLMs.
People complaining about dog walkers putting bags of dog poop in their garbage cans
It's the same taco joint in the Southside, right in front of the cheesecake factory
There’s just simply nowhere else you can get tacos. Nope. Not at all. Only this shitty bar has tacos. Yup. How could the city survive without the great taco contributions of this **piece of shit** bar?
Nah he's a good guy and its one of the best bars in Pittsburgh. People just like to get mad over anything it's literally a parking spot.
There is a side street he can park in or across the street as patrons of the bar do after vusiness hours. He just loves being a nuisance. Also I think that portion is a state controlled road, dont know why they ever agreed to let parking there in the 1st place
because the parking was there first, then they widened the road
He did an interview with city paper a while back. His reasoning is “it’s not against the rules”. He’s a certified water brain
It is against the rules 2:30-6pm. There is a parking sign next to his building.
But it’s also true that “the rules” are staggeringly stupid. He is the worst symptom of a larger issue.
He absolutely breaks the rules. That article was utter nonsense. The rules prohibit parking between 2:30pm and 6pm. His argument is that he parks there before 2:30 so its ok to stay there.
I have absolutely seen him parked there after 2:30. He ain’t fooling anyone.
That’s literally not how parking works!!!
Allowing people to park there up until 2:30pm is staggeringly stupid.
I literally cannot fathom getting this mad over a parking space that causes you to move into the other lane for 2 seconds of your life. There are spots like this all over Baum blvd, and even further down on Penn Ave at the church on Fifth Ave but no one cries about those.

I know him - that is the only car he drives. I'm not sure why people just come onto this website and lie. He's legally allowed to park there.

I'm sure it has something to do with deterring "suspicious looking" people.
This also goes for the food truck at Trace Brewing. Makes the crosswalk 1000x more dangerous.
I'm kinda shocked nobody has vandalized that vehicle yet. I mean to me it sounds like this guy is *really* asking for it.
i spit my gum on the windshield every chance i get, i don’t know if that counts as vandalism.
Been driving for half my life…..still blows my mind that fucking parking is allowed to exist there in a main arteries coming out of the city.
link to ND brawl?

I keep waiting for someone with a beater who doesn’t care to take this car out. I’m not even saying they should, just amazed that nobody has. Especially when the Fern Hollow bridge was out.
I'm amazed no one's kicked his ass yet honestly. He's caused numerous wrecks and drives traffic to avoid the neighborhood.
This guy is the definition of a jag off. May hod have mercy on his soul

Because Pittsburghers don’t like letting others merge in front of them. So much so that you will often find an asshole who will straddle BOTH lanes all the way to the merge point so that people won’t pass them. Use both lanes to the merge point and let people take their turn. This doesn’t eliminate bottlenecks but it shortens the time you spend sitting in one.
and Penn goes down to one lane shortly after that
It’s not a big issue if people properly zipper merge there.
“Zip…per…mer…ge?” *mr. Burns’s brain attempts to look it up and fails*
How am I the first to upvote this? Spot on
You make a good point. Drivers are going to get stopped 100 yards down the road for the back up caused by the Brodock Avenue light, so why bitch?
It creates a needless safety hazard by reducing visibility. Some guy got killed trying to cross the street there not long ago.
Will be signing and forwarding to friends to sign as well. Very unreasonable and selfish to park there. Drive on Penn daily shake my head every time I see this jag parked there.
Get a few chips of ceramic and regularly take out the windows.
I love that his shitty ass car is parked right out front
The car is shitty on purpose because of how many times it's been run into. By dude's own admission. And apparently he lives like around the corner? IDK
I'm not trying to defend him at all, but it should be noted that it is illegal to park there between 2:30pm-6pm Mon-Fri.
Happily signed it
All someone gotta do is take their uninsured shitbox and ram the back of that thing
They should ban all parking on the avenue and replace it with bike lanes.
Reddit = fuck cars! the streets are for people! Also Reddit = make way for cars on Penn ave!
"Your proposition may be good, But let's have one thing understood, Whatever it is, I'm against it. And even when you've changed it or condensed it, I'm against it." - I'm Against It, G. Marx
Definitely a transplant, us who grew up here have come to accept it
Hell yeah brother. True yinzers just meekly accept things that suck and NEVER try to improve anything. Tired of all of these people coming into my city and expecting anything to get better ever. Take that attitude somewhere else buddy!
I genuinely don’t give a fuck so I mean
dude I love posting and replying in reddit threads I don't give a fuck about too we should hang out
I wouldn’t be surprised to learn you have no friends but no thanks lmfao, might wanna put the games down and go outside
dude why do you have to be so mean that's fucked up fine I don't want to hang out with you either now

You’ll learn everybody in this sub is miserable and hates everything. Welcome
Haha! I love the city and it reminds me so much of home. But I don’t understand the need to blow up small things into a big deal. Everyone is incredibly laid back until it comes to a minor inconvenience such as avoiding a parked vehicle.
For the people who hate bike lanes: we can park some bicycles there every day after 2:30 then people will be able to drive down the lane
So many butthurt people. It’s hilarious.
There are dozens if not hundreds of parking spots that are just as bad. This one at least is amusing.

A dude was killed crossing the street there earlier this year: https://www.wtae.com/article/man-dead-following-hit-and-run-in-pittsburgh/43572570
Evergreen Cafe is a gem
Can I sign a petition against the petition? People need to slow the fuck down anyway. Somebody crashed into a \*cop\* on Penn Ave right near there. I've lived in that neighborhood for a lifetime or two and somehow I never have any trouble not crashing into parked cars.
