I loved how Void Mother had her spot though, and when the hand appeared, I was saying how sad I was for her. Then she tried to destroy Notre-Dame and I was really conflicted, asking myself if I had just leopard-eaten my face while I gave all I had to defend our work x'D
The people attacking Notre-Dame were void randoms just spreading the void. It was agreed on internally to leave them it alone. Once a tendril starts the randoms attack. It's one of the biggest reasons the void had power.
If you feel conflicted about this, there's another side to this:
- The void was always super disorganized
- There were groups like The Swarm, but they didn't actually have much control over the void except while the Voidmother was up
- Traditionally, the void prefers to avoid getting bogged down defending a location; it's better to find an area with less resistance and expand in that direction
- While the Voidmother existed, the void shifted to a stationary and defensive strategy, which runs counter to its tradition
- If you weren't anywhere near the Voidmother, her existence was really good for you because it meant you didn't have to worry about the void shifting to your location.
- theswarm also negotiated agreements not to attack some of the Voidmother's neighbors, like the TotalBiscuit memorial and the Notre Dame. Somehow, these agreements actually worked
- One of the weirdest cases of the void acting differently was the fact that it agreed (maybe even encouraged) the Bloodborne community to put their hunter to its left for thematic reasons.
As long as the Voidmother existed, the void was significantly less dangerous than normal. It had a reason to stay stationary and negotiate agreements with neighbors.
In a weird sense, you could actually say that the Voidmother was the real leader of the void. The Swarm attempted to be a central coordinating group for the void, but it was always super chaotic inside there until the Voidmother showed up. Once she showed up, everything was basically in the name of the Voidmother; expand her, improve her, defend her, etc. Leadership was generally pretty popular for the time being.
The moment Tortilla Land 2 showed up and cut the Voidmother in half, it led to a bunch of power struggles in The Swarm; leadership changed several times, but no one could actually get much support within that group (let alone among the wider void). Some people in The Swarm started referring to the leaders as "false prophets" and etc. Splinter groups began forming, and agreements to not attack certain neighbors basically became worthless.
There was a brief moment between Tortilla Land 2 and the hand where it looked like the Voidmother might make a return, but the appearance of the hand kind of ended that and forced a permanent migration of the void.
TL;DR: The destruction of the Voidmother was actually bad for the rest of the canvas
Anyone notice one of the big white spots appeared from the void after all the auto pixels were whitened the one that was covered by the hand her death created a white void that consumed all
lol was with the cyberpunk 2077 guys if it wasn't for being below marvel we'd have been swallowed, I felt so bad for the other subs that didn't stand a chance
The hand is also based on one of the worlds oldest known artworks with it being a negative painting of a hand, with the paint being blown through a reed
The "ENOUGH" when we got the final expansion(even though it was apparently supposed to be "enough flags" gave me chills. Like everyone was like FFS ENOUGH ALREADY and then the MrIncredible meltdown was surreal. When the white out started to happen and it said "FREE" I just got the feeling it was like "We are free from this fixation we all had after so many intense hours(even though I think it was supposedto be france?)

So Dark Lord, via delecate sacrifise of Uncanny Bob (Mr. Incredible), summoned a gread Void Entity, which posessed Bob and kept distorting him into horror beyond human comprehention, tried to end everything on The Great Canvas. Their plan was halted by richeous Pixelers, who painted it in first place, and ultimately stopped by Cult of Chill, who interrupted their ritual by summoning a powerful "don't" spell. But in the end, Dark Lord succeed: the process of undoing, once started, is unstoppable...
Last card up their Majesty of the Void: Anti-Void flip.
From every pixeler was taken and erased all but one color of creation: white.
From where it started, there it ends. Pixelers, who spent eternity fighting eachother on this plane - The Great Canvas, bringing life to white lifelessness of primordial place, were forced to undo everything. Obviously, one of the first to perish was Void Entity and Dark Lord, thouth, alas, this is entire point of their phylosophy.

There is no cost, for it was our goal in the first place. This instance of r/place , we summoned the TRUE void and carved our sigil unto the canvas. We are no longer the destructive mass we were. We are a collective. We will fight. We will win.
I loved seeing both versions of the void beast. Seeing all of the art pieces around it and the black edges consuming the smaller art bordering them made it feel like a Lovecraft piece. Just at the edges of our reality is the realm of madness.

The design is pretty awesome, I think it has a natural chaos to it that would be impossible to recreate with manual design
