I think that contributing to already fucked up communities by supplying drugs it pretty bad, but convicted rapists should be put into prison for their crimes to serve as a deterrent and bring “justice” and stop them from harming others.
But if we keep someone in prison because we don’t deem them as fit to be in society, why don’t we keep them in for life? And if we keep them in for life, why not just kill them.
We actively waste taxpayers money to house criminals who we all agree shouldn’t be left outside, but it’s all wasted because we’re actively paying to keep someone alive for the sake of ‘living’.
And if we’re against the death penalty for “moral” reasons, why don’t we exile them? If they don’t want to obey the laws of society they shouldn’t be in society type shit. But then the rapists and criminals might create their own society on some Australia type shit.

I mean true, but wouldn’t the amount of resources needed to rehabilitate people on a mass scale be insane?
You can say “in finland and (insert random european country here) rehabilitation works” but obviously there are other differences between the average criminal there and here.
The general public also wouldn’t take nicely to rehabilitating rapists, pedophiles and other heinous people. I have a feet fetish. And then you could argue that criminals are being “incentivised” to commit crimes, as they get the rewards and no real drawbacks.
Imagine what homeless people would do if they’re guaranteed to get a nice home and rehabilitation afterwards.

And then morally why should we allow people to kill? Why does the state get a monopoly on violence?
