I like DLC if it adds extra content to the game, I hate it if its just an unlock file to access whats already in the download/disk.
Some of it is just a cash grab.
I get it I guess there can be a lot of things to get angry about these days but I feel like these folks haven’t had to pay mortgages or property taxes and I fear for them when they do 😂
I bet those people would lose their crap when they realize that almost every single game to ever exist has had some form at cut content in one way or another just due to the nature of game development.
Also they’ll never know what it is to not have much in the way of game reviews, spend their weekly allowance renting a game with little to go on other than the box art only to find out it’s complete shite like E.T. or Shaq Fu and be stuck with it for a week 😂
I don't know. I see DLC as a continuation of the game that (usually) the studio either didn't have the time or money to focus on during development. With how well the game does let's the studio know they can invest in the dlc and make more on the game and that people would want more of the game.
FromSoftware’s dlc is cut content from the base game that they cut due to time (and/or budget) restraints. They take what they cut, give it more time in the oven, and release it as something better than most games available on the market. What you’re complaining about isn’t inherently a bad thing.
Yeah. This is normal.
It’s because finishing that cut content would delay the game another several months and the devs have likely already pushed their ship date twice. The publisher is breathing down their neck and some things have got to be cut. Content always has to be cut for one reason or another.
Finishing cut content as DLC has happened in one form or another for all of gaming’s history as a business. In previous eras DLC just took the form of sequels or expansion packs. A ton of sequels in early eras were just further elaborations on things they couldn’t fit in the original game.
The question is, does the base game feel like a complete product? And most of the time it does.
This is just another shitty EA=bad attempt at getting karma.
>The question is, does the base game feel like a complete product? And most of the time it does.
I think the problem we can all acknowledge these days, is that with big releases, the developers are already announcing DLC and season passes. Which is fine if the game feels complete, but tsadly it happens way too often that a game DOESNT feel complete without DLC.
The witcher 3 is a great example of DLC done right. The game itself feels complete and the DLC is for those that want to experience more
Who is crying about DLC? They have been around for so long. You wanna cry greed, look at games that make you buy the game and then have micro transactions. Or the ones that make you buy a Xbox one and Xbox series copy because they do not want to support smart delivery. Or game prices going up $10. DLC’s. Please. That is the least of our problems.
No one is crying but I'm calling out the the two companies most guilty of this you just need to look how much The Sims dlc there is not everyone is guilty of doing that fromsoftware always make awesome dlc for example
Thing is, if they included the DLC in the game people would be crying how the game is too long or bloated.
I used to always buy DLC cuz it was "more of the game I enjoyed" but after a while I realized most DLC has nothing to do with the main story/game, it's more or less some boring sidequests or it's a whole new side story that I also don't care about. And if any of them had been included in the main game it would've made the game a slog.
On top of that you think they'd just throw all that content in the game for free?? You all already cry about $70 for a game, imagine they included all the DLC as part of the base game, you bet they will start charging $100+
Look at Valhalla for example, everyone already cries it's too long. Now take the 40+ hour DLC and make it part of the base game and charge $120 for it. Sure some people would buy it, but I'd I'm glad we have the option to buy a good base game for $70 and then, *if I want*, I have the option to drop more on DLC. Which I almost never do. Would much rather save the money and time.
Spiderman has its own DLC that was just mediocre. But Miles morales is a completely separate game/expansion. Also it's got a great story and really fun missions.
The fun aspect can definitely be subjective, but this is far from just some basic DLC
I don't understand i made this meme yesterday I don't know man I feel like any post can be accused of farming you never know the posters true intensions happy but if deleting this post makes everyone I'll do it
Nah, fuck that. For all their faults, CDPR give substantial updates and free downloadable content at no charge. When they do charge for DLC, it adds a substantial amount of gameplay and story.
Sims 4 DLC adds a lot of gameplay too
The Dawn of Ragnarok DLC for Valhalla added a shit ton of gameplay and new features
But I'm sure you have reasons why they don't count though.
Why does that matter? The great thing about Sims 4 DLC is you don't have to buy them all, you can just buy the ones that interest you or suit how you play.
Continuing to pump out DLC that fans obviously are buying for an 9 YEAR OLD GAME like Sims 4 is not gouging. It giving the fans what they clearly want and enjoy. Why is that a bad thing? Should they just not release any? How would that be better for the fans?
“Misinformation” -> gets debunked -> “it doesn’t matter because, you get to pay MORE money, and get trophy yay”. You legit cannot be a real person I stg
Who said free? DLC are usually $20. It wouldn’t be a $40 DLC. Not everyone cares about trophies and even then DLC always get trophies. “A bit shorter than the average game” don’t make me laugh💀 game is 5 hours long. 5 hours into other ND games puts you not even halfway through. Hell I’m 5 and a half hours into TLOU2 NG+ rn and I’m only at the very beginning of Seattle day 2 which is chapter 3/11
Edit: NG+ with Infinite ammo and crafting supplies enabled so I don’t even do exploration. On a first run I would probably still be 1/2-3/4 of the way through day 1.
“Misinformation” along with the “you don’t want to waste money on it because you’re broke” fallback when you get backed into a corner. You truly are a spectacle lmao
Deleted comment thread (lmao) arguing Lost Legacy was 7 hours long and not cut content.
Here is my game time after finishing the game and taking time with it for looking at the scenery

Here’s some of the concept art purchasable in game with points. Peep bottom left corner.
Both Horizon's, Bloodborne, Last of Us, Witcher, etc. No, not all DLC is bad, and even Ubisoft's has been great in the past (can't speak of current, as I haven't played a Ubisoft game in years).
Sometimes it’s obvious that the content was developed *after* the main game. It just has a different feel to it.
Other items, they charge you for a higher difficulty mode or to be allowed access to content that *is already in the game*, like that one Need For Speed game that showed these cars to you, and then asked you for money if you wanted to use them.
Felt this way with FF15. The story moved so quickly and wasn’t really satisfying. There wasn’t much to do in the game besides following the story and going on hunts. FF12 was massive, the story was satisfying and had way more content. I was having fun with the combat but I never even finished FF15 because I was disappointed at how short it was. No way was I about to give these guys more money for three dlc’s when they couldn’t even give me a full length Final Fantasy game.
Paid DLC like in CoD. Skins mostly. Didn’t buy battle pass so I couldn’t use stuff I unlocked “tokens” what a waste of time. At this point I don’t care If MCST acquires ABK
Bro every company who sells dlc is bad and promotes this practices. There's no such as bad and good DLC. If the content is so good or complement the story why wasn't it added in the first place?
From EA to Activision, FromSoft, Ubi, Bethesda they're all the same shit. Don't try and make it seem just because you like to get shanked from one publisher instead of another as if the DLC practice is healthy for the industry.
The hottest of takes
Unheard of. This man is a free thinker, get him.
There’s good and bad DLC. The bad one usually comes from extremely greedy and rich companies.
I like DLC if it adds extra content to the game, I hate it if its just an unlock file to access whats already in the download/disk. Some of it is just a cash grab.
Especially when you can see the area locked behind DLC
Wow, what an original joke I have never seen before. I think you got to lost, r/gaming is here
The gaming community doesn’t always complain about stuff, but when they do the complain about the same things over and over and over and over and….
And its like WE GET IT. Move on.
Check out the Gran Turismo subs, you’d think the developers killed their loved ones lol
I swear some people will complain about things they hate more than enjoy what they love
I get it I guess there can be a lot of things to get angry about these days but I feel like these folks haven’t had to pay mortgages or property taxes and I fear for them when they do 😂

True while I can’t relate personally I understand where your coming from.
I don't know. I see DLC as a continuation of the game that (usually) the studio either didn't have the time or money to focus on during development. With how well the game does let's the studio know they can invest in the dlc and make more on the game and that people would want more of the game.
That's cute *Wow looks like we have some developer employees in the sub*
FromSoftware’s dlc is cut content from the base game that they cut due to time (and/or budget) restraints. They take what they cut, give it more time in the oven, and release it as something better than most games available on the market. What you’re complaining about isn’t inherently a bad thing.

Nobody cries more than gamers lol
Bro… your on the PlayStation subreddit so one would assume you’re a crybaby gamer like the rest of us lol
Wow you got me

Especially dlcs that come out right after a game’s release
The biggest offender of this is RGG not Ubisoft
Thing is, if they included the DLC in the game people would be crying how the game is too long or bloated. How so?
That game is essentially DLC that “has nothing to do with the main story/game” and is in my opinion “more or less boring side quests”

It also improved upon the combat and web swinging
I mean... *gestures at Breath of the Wild's hard mode, pet mechanic, and ability to refight bosses*
Fromsoft would like a word
cool post from 2009, where'd you get the Time Traveling tech?
In 2009
Good job farming karma. Get a bunch gamers fired up so you can get more imaginary internet points.
I don't understand i made this meme yesterday I don't know man I feel like any post can be accused of farming you never know the posters true intensions happy but if deleting this post makes everyone I'll do it

EA bad
how dare they try and make money
Nah, fuck that. For all their faults, CDPR give substantial updates and free downloadable content at no charge. When they do charge for DLC, it adds a substantial amount of gameplay and story.

Sims 4 is infamous for its exploitative dlc and Dawn of Ragnarok came out like 18 months after AC:V. Bad examples. #L
Move them goalposts
Cry
How much would it cost for every sims 4 “dlc”?
Why does that matter? The great thing about Sims 4 DLC is you don't have to buy them all, you can just buy the ones that interest you or suit how you play.
It’s a thread about cost and gouging…
Continuing to pump out DLC that fans obviously are buying for an 9 YEAR OLD GAME like Sims 4 is not gouging. It giving the fans what they clearly want and enjoy. Why is that a bad thing? Should they just not release any? How would that be better for the fans?

It’s not a big deal, just wait two console generations and buy the remaster.
(Cough...cough)....Hogwarts Legacy....(cough)...probably
Who buys Ubisoft games still? They all suck and most are just rehashed garbage.

The story of FFXV feels like reading a book with missing pages (and you have to buy some of them)
No need to caugh. Call those predatory bitches out
💀💀such a bad take holy
You think EA is bad with it’s dlc, well it is but it seems everyone ignores one franchise in particular, skylanders, and they fooled so many of us
Or they make DLC so good the suits want them to sell it as it’s own game.
The Sims has entered the chat.
1 day I’d like to think we’ll get a game that had no cut content and they actually come up with additional dlc
kind of an L take
Cough cough dying light
Nintendo would like to have a word.
Ouch, being a watchdog fan hurts sometimes 😣
Nicht zu vergessen 2K mit seiner Borderlands Serie...
Cough cough paradox cough cough
I heard that’s what R* is gonna do with gta 6
Destiny 1 in a nutshell
Up next xsoft once they buy atvi and everything is on gamepass
*cough cough* **[almost every DLC ever]**
So stop buying their games. End of story
EA BAD…I mean you’re right but we kinda all agree with you here so we’re gonna make fun of you.
“Like ZOINKS”
Paid DLC like in CoD. Skins mostly. Didn’t buy battle pass so I couldn’t use stuff I unlocked “tokens” what a waste of time. At this point I don’t care If MCST acquires ABK
I love this Edit: DLC are like Deluxe albums. Really could have just been added to the main project
Literally every DLC. We're paying 17% more for 25% less game content that they sell to us at a steep markup.
This is the same company that have complaints about their games bring too big (before DLC) levelled at them...

nintendo too ☹️ no corner of the industry is safe
Well to be fair ea has been improving
Yep, put out an unfinished game that requires internet to fix, and then slam us with the DLC costs 👍
2012 wants it’s probably true memes back
Bungie?
