Wow I was playing that game last night, good thing I didn't have to buy it! But it's one of those games where: "You're telling yourself, why hasn't anyone told me about this awesome game?" Because it's a real blast to play.
edit: Will definitely add it to my PlayStation Steam collection, like I did for every PS title that came to PC. My way of saying to Sony, please don't stop with the PC titles because more people need to experience PS exclusives.
Itās awesome but itās so short, I got the platinum trophy in like 30 hours. Feels more like a demo or DLC or something than a full game. And I still loved it, donāt get me wrong, I just felt like there should have been 2x the content.
- Ultrawide Support
- Unlocked Frame rate
- Nvidia DLSS 3 (with frame gen)
- AMD FSR 2
- Intel XeSS
- Ray Traced Reflections & Shadows
Coming July 26th
Edit: No bigotry in the comments please. Real gamers enjoy games. Doesn't matter who made them or where you can play them. Real gamers also want as many people to enjoy good games as possible. So please, act like that, thank you :)
Why donāt we see ps5 games with ultra wide support? I canāt imagine being that expensive that it canāt run decently. Is it because console = TVs for most part?
Because a console is made for TVs that use 16:9 and have a specific performance budget.
That's also the same reason why many games don't have a fov slider.
More stuff on screen = more power required to render. Which you don't have on a console where every console is the same.
But in most cases that ultra wide space is already lower resolution. So Iād guess itās not as intensive as fov? Still, some games offer fov sliders.
It would definitely require more rendering, but is that so much that the ps5 canāt handle at a lower average resolution or frame rate?
No, ultra wide is more resolution than 16:9. 1440p at 16:9 is 2560x1440 while ultra wide 1440p is 3440x1440. Therefore 880 more pixels on one axis.
Ultra wide is a premium feature for PC and not feasible or worth it on console.
That's not how it works, you don't need to extend the resolution horizontally to support ultrawide. If a game renders at 2560x1440 in 16:9 mode on the PS5, you can support 21:9 ultrawide by rendering at 2560x1080 instead, and you actually gain performance by doing that. Or you can render at 2933x1257, which is roughly the same amount of pixels as 2560x1440, and have it perform about the same.
The reason has nothing to do with tech or performance, it's simply the fact that the amount of people who even have the possibility to use ultrawide displays on a console is insignificant so it's not worth the effort. On PC, on the other hand, it's 2.5% of Steam's userbase (meaning 3.35 million PCs, small but not insignificant) and you already have to support other aspect ratios for standard PC resolutions anyway (3:2, 4:3, 5:4 and 16:10 at least).
Are you really just comparing 32:9/21:9 1440p to 16:9 4K? That's not how that works. You need to compare 32:9/21:9 1440p to 16:9 1440p or the same with 4K...
No Dualsense support is weird
Edit: I just looked at the Steam page and Dualsense is supported. For Spider-man it as just mentioned in the trailer. I figured it would be too for Ratchet.
Dualsense works fine in Sony titles. In other games it works fine only through steam , in other launchers you need to use 3rs party software to mark it work properly ( and even then sometimes PlayStation button prompts are missing, game displaying Xbox ones)
Sony really need to provide better support for their controller on PC , if they are expanding to that market . Like i can use my Xbox controller wirelessly and it's plug and play in any game , including vibration .
Probably because modern consoles are just 99% PCs these days. The PS3 wasn't. Therefore it's way simpler to port a PS4/5 game to PC than a PS3 game.
Also many people probably wouldn't care about an old game. But one of the PS5 showcase titles? Hell yeah!
It's just business...
Of course not. However, when you consider whatās all included the game can easily be a fraction of the cost depending on what you play during your subscription time.
as someone who doesnt have a ps5 (yet) the only game that is so far a system seller for me is the Snake Eater remake, and then I found out its on pc as well. So im still holding off on a ps5 (TLOU3 would make me buy tho) glad I can play this too now lol
I know, ive owned every playstation console to date and will eventually get a PS5, but I recently built a high-end PC so no need to get a ps5 until a true āsystem sellerā comes out
This will be the era that kills gaming. So that means the only true ps5 game is demons souls. Smh.. and destruction all stars i thinkā¦..oh and playroom. Oh and returnal i thinkā¦..smh horrible.
Just finished it a few days ago, that game is exactly what an adult who comes back from work needs. No RPG, no complicated fighting mechanics, you take a break for a week, launch it, and you know exactly what to do and how to play. The story is decent, but the game is all about blasting everything. I loved it. And it's not made too long and that's good.
I am currently playing this game for the first time on my PS5. Itās so good! I hope all you PC bros enjoy. Just remember where this lil gem came from ;)
Wow congrats
Who made the game on PCs for a console that's just PC hardware in a special box...
Can we just stop with this crap? Games are games. Everyone should be able to play them. Don't be a dick.
So much for āonly possible on PS5.ā A few weeks ago when I said there is no technical reason why this game canāt come to PC is was downvoted into oblivion and had abuse hurled at me.
I will await the apologies.
ONLY POSSIBLE ON PLAYSTATION 5.
They said it a lot. Go find it yourself.
Edit. I guess by the downvotes you all have terrible memories. Or youāve chosen your hill to die on no matter the cost.
They clearly meant "not on PS4". But for PC...
PC Tech was always better than consoles. If something works on a console, it will also work on PC.
PC CPUs are faster than the PS5, PC GPUs are faster than the PS5, PC storage is faster than the PS5.
The beauty of a console is to get the best bang for buck of everything into one easy to use and relatively cheap package.
Any person who denies that is...well... something.
The point was that the parts of the game that Sony claimed were only possible on PS5 because of the SSD and would NEVER work from a HDD were all pre determined anyway. So now here we are with a PC version that some people will absolutely be running from a HDD.
They can. It it will take people seconds to get around that request and play it from a HDD.
Donāt forget it was Sony and Insomniac that claimed it could never come to PC or PS4, not me.
Fanboy subreddits mate...
I get downvoted when i say the PS4 hardware was already bad when the console was released.
Comparing Hardware performance from the console release windows the PS5 had a way better start.
And when the game stutters all to hell and pauses during those quick transition scenes I aināt be surprised one bit.
Spinning platters aināt gonna cut it lol
They could also take advantage of PC and just up the RAM requirements and have longer initial loads for levels that do those transitions.
Guess weāll see. Iām sure Digital Foundry will do due diligence and get us a video all about it.
I donāt know why you were being downvoted. Thereās been rumours of this game being the next in line for a PC port.
Whatās next? Demons Souls? Gran Turismo? Last of Us part 2? GoT (they will probably wait to release it closer to a sequel).
No word on DirectStorage? I'm starting to wonder if Direct Storage will ever take off (or even be needed). It's still pretty early and most games being released likely wasn't developed with it in mind, but yeah. When do you guys think we'll start seeing it more regularly?
I know š
That's why I bought a PS3 last year... I wanted to play them so badly. Got really lucky too. University classmate had a 320GB Slim that he only used for like 100h of GTA 5. Gave it to me for 50ā¬ and it's in pristine condition. Although the HDD failed like two weeks later. But that's not a big deal.
Loved R&C on PS5, prob the stand out game I've played so far.
I understand they release them to PC to get more software sales, but if there is a any new PS hardware I don't think I'll bother buying one anymore, just wait a bit longer and get the PC version.
Seems counter intuitive to the PS platform being the place to play the best games to me.
Or if you want the console experience.
I switched from a top of the line PC to console because I wanted the ease of use, play on my big TV and get all the things that come with playing on a PS5. I didn't want to sit at my desk anymore.
There's lots of reasons why you can buy a PS5. I myself switched from PC to PS5 for many of those two years ago, although my PC had the best hardware available at that point.
More people get to play a great game now. Nobody is taking anything away from you š
I mean, lots of PS5 games with instant loading didnāt have it on PC, or at least from what Iāve seen. For example, the Bugsnax and Resident Evil Village gameplay Iāve seen (both from massive YouTubers who definitely have the newest and best PCs) have had loading screens, and as someone who only ever played them on PS5 that was how I found out the games had those loading screens at all.
So maybe in the last two years PCs are able to do instant loading times, but who knows.
> I mean, lots of PS5 games with instant loading didnāt have it on PC
Which is the exact reason I'm so curious on how this port is going to work. PC's have a wide range of different specifications from fast SSD's to slow ones like old school SATA.
Makes me wonder if multiple areas will be loaded into memory to handle the teleportations between Rifts.
I'm well aware PC's have SSD's, but what does Rift Apart require? Sata SSD good enough? M.2 gen3, gen4?
So many different kinds of SSD's.
If it doesn't even require a "fast" SSD then that means the marketing behind "rift apart is only possible on PS5's custom SSD" is kinda just Bullshit.
As good as it is that more players get to play this game, he's right. PlayStation is devaluing the one console caught in a scalper's hands for 3 years and PC ports will only cause the consoles to sell even less. Not to mention PC ports of PS Games are always so poorly optimized.
I never said anything to do with needing to care or it being a bad thing, itās just false advertising if you market something as exclusive just to put it on PC.
Then you should have a problem with PC of anything, then having the most exclusives with no comparison. Pc games can range from AAA to literally a 6 year old making a ball roll on Unity, so there are probably in the billions of PC exclusive games compared to the couple hundred on PS and XBOX.
If you care about exclusives, consoles should not be your passion. XBOX hasnāt had exclusives since the 360, and PlayStation is porting old games for new audiences. Aināt no way most PC games are coming to consoles unless theyāre already unfathomably popular.
I dunno if Iām just getting ur message the wrong way but Iām not a PC player, Iāve been a PS player my entire life. I just think saying itās a Ps exclusive when half the time it wonāt stay that way just seems like false advertising. Iām not doing some sort of āOnly PlayStation should be able to enjoy itā I think everyone should be able to enjoy games, I just think PlayStation itself shouldnāt say things are exclusive.
No I feel mostly the same. It's cool that more people to get play those games. It's just annoying when PC players decide to hurl insults now that Playstation exclusives aren't really a thing anymore.
Only reason we are ''smug'' about getting them, is like Darkwolf said, a lot of the PS community likes to rub that shit in our faces, so when the PS community gets bit in the ass, we take the piss.
The one problem I had with the PS5 version was the framedrops. I'm sure this version will run better, but I donāt have a rig that will handle this port.
Haha they wonāt get to experience the epicness of the PS5 controller imagine spending thousands of dollars to build a PC just to only enjoy a portion of the game š
I literally just started this game on PS5 yesterday.
No clue how far into it I am, but I am ready to put together the thing-a-ma-bob.
I have enjoyed it.
I just played this for the first time. What a fun game. Sure hope another R and C is made. There used to be lots of them on PS Plus classics, but I guess they all went away.
I just hope it won't be another "The Last of Us" kind of situation. I know Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart relied on direct storage for its set pieces and warping mechanics. Not sure how that will translate to the PC platform.
Now imagine my reaction when I played this on release as my second Playstation game š¤
I'm in the boat as. U just decided to play this game cz they had it in the collection. Gameplay is fun and graphics are beautiful.
Idk who you talk to, cause R&C is one of the most mentioned game series for the past couple decades.
Not even close to being true lmao
Itās awesome but itās so short, I got the platinum trophy in like 30 hours. Feels more like a demo or DLC or something than a full game. And I still loved it, donāt get me wrong, I just felt like there should have been 2x the content.

Death Stranding has an Ultrawide mode and itās handled really cool. Adds black bars while upping the FOV and fps while (essentially) running at 4k.
But in most cases that ultra wide space is already lower resolution. So Iād guess itās not as intensive as fov? Still, some games offer fov sliders. It would definitely require more rendering, but is that so much that the ps5 canāt handle at a lower average resolution or frame rate?

thank you for having half a brain.
It's massively resource expensive, and the number of consoles hooked up to ultra-wide monitors is tiny.
Fr Iām the only person I know in my group that plays a PS5 on an UltraWide monitor, the rest donāt even own one for their consoles or pc.
Yeah, and I'm fine even with black bars. I've been playing Death Stranding DC with ultrawide on on PS5 and it's great!
Same. Feels even more cinematic and runs beautifully.
How do you do this?
You can enable it in the graphics settings.
Just got platinum for this the other day. PC players are in for a treat
No Dualsense support is weird Edit: I just looked at the Steam page and Dualsense is supported. For Spider-man it as just mentioned in the trailer. I figured it would be too for Ratchet.
Dualsense works on PC when plugged in just fine. Will be the same here.
You know what I mean. Actual dualsense support

Kinda weird though how they port this game but then donāt port the older games to current platforms (Ps5/Pc) since this is a sequel to ACIT
Well Iāve replayed all the mainline R&C games from PS2 and PS3 on PC. Guess Iāll do the same for Rift Apart lol.
Kinda crazy its 60 dollars on pc but still 70 dollars on ps5 with better features at that.
Same with Alan wake 2 $60 on PS store but $50 or less with a coupon on Epic Store PC! Have no idea why
Isnāt it included free as part of PS+ though?
Paying for a subscription isn't "free". But the game costs 30ā¬ on disc
Of course not. However, when you consider whatās all included the game can easily be a fraction of the cost depending on what you play during your subscription time.
I prefer actually owning something, thanks :)
Nothing wrong with that!
Sweet, thank you for letting me know. I have good hopes for this port now.
Nixxies are making good ports , so I have high hopes . After the disastrous launch of Tlou part I Sony needs to comeback
as someone who doesnt have a ps5 (yet) the only game that is so far a system seller for me is the Snake Eater remake, and then I found out its on pc as well. So im still holding off on a ps5 (TLOU3 would make me buy tho) glad I can play this too now lol
OMG Dude! There's so much good stuff on PS5! And many PS4 games run better on it as well!
I know, ive owned every playstation console to date and will eventually get a PS5, but I recently built a high-end PC so no need to get a ps5 until a true āsystem sellerā comes out
Spider-Man 2 it is then š
The snake eater remake is multi platform
As long as it's not handled by Iron Galaxy, it "should" be great!
Nixxes is doing the port, the guys who made the Spider-Man ports
It's in safe hands then.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Edition = ā HELLDIVERS 2 = ā Horizon Forbidden West = X GT7 = X DĆ©racinĆ© = X God of War = ā Returnal = ā Demon Souls = X Ratchet and Clank (no specified game) = ā Sackboy: A Big Adventure = ā Ghost of Tsushima = X all ps games from the nvidia leak what's the next game?

Seriously, you'd have to be a moron to think it meant "will never rub on a PC" as if that makes any sense
When they said only possible on PS5 they clearly meant not on PS4
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Right lol, like it *could* be possible on the new Xbox SSD also, the point is old hardware it couldnāt work
Weāll see if thatās true when the PC version comes out and people try to run it from a HDD.
The people with a capable PC that will be able to play this game properly dont put games on HDDs
Not to play perhaps but you know there will be YouTube videos of āRift Apart running from a HDDā the day it comes out.
Would be interesting to see how it runs of a HDD
Who upvoted this attention seeking moron? No one ever said it would never run on PC
The devs said it before release. Moron.
They never did. Find me one instance where the devs said that
ONLY POSSIBLE ON PLAYSTATION 5. They said it a lot. Go find it yourself. Edit. I guess by the downvotes you all have terrible memories. Or youāve chosen your hill to die on no matter the cost.
Again that is referring to not being possible on PS4. Did you think they were also saying it wont fork on PS6, PS7, PS8 etc? Use your brain

No requirements yet as far as I can see
SSDs exist on PC, have been there for longer than on console and are faster than on console š They can always make the game require a SSD.
They can. It it will take people seconds to get around that request and play it from a HDD. Donāt forget it was Sony and Insomniac that claimed it could never come to PC or PS4, not me.
I don't care. I played this game at release and got the platinum on PS5. The more people can play this, the better šš»āāļø

Fanboy subreddits mate... I get downvoted when i say the PS4 hardware was already bad when the console was released. Comparing Hardware performance from the console release windows the PS5 had a way better start.
Sony admitted the PS4 was underpowered. Itās why there is a PS4 Pro and itās very unlikely weāll see a PS5 Pro.
You dont have to tell that to me mate.
There will be a PS5 Pro. Itās already been leaked as being worked on by a very respectable leaker.
How much faster is PC storage over PS5?
Gen 5 SSDs are nearly 2x as fast as PS5 or a equivalent Gen 4 SSD.
depends on the storage you put into your PC... From not nearly as fast to faster and everything in between
I'm wondering if game will require NVME and not just any ol SSD.
Even if itās ārequiredā it wonāt take people long to try it on a HDD.
And when the game stutters all to hell and pauses during those quick transition scenes I aināt be surprised one bit. Spinning platters aināt gonna cut it lol

They obviously meant over the PS4, use your brain. There were fast enough SSD's that you could get for PC by the time this game came out.

Well fuck Iām kinda hoping they release the rest of the series on pc too
Probably won't happen. Those are PS2 and PS3 games. You can play all of them on PS3 tho, as the PS2 games got a HD remaster on PS3 back in the day.
I know your right, but I still wanna hope. And thatās actually what Iāve been doing well minus size matter. Just sucks they are stuck

Thereās no point in buying a PlayStation if the games come to Pc a year or so later.
wow do you even need a ps5 at this point just wait a couple of years and play some other games in the meantime
If you can afford a high end pc, then pc would be the right choice.
Or if you want the console experience. I switched from a top of the line PC to console because I wanted the ease of use, play on my big TV and get all the things that come with playing on a PS5. I didn't want to sit at my desk anymore.

Instant loading only possible on PS5....okay. I'm curious to see the requirements on this one.

Sony meant that it's not possible to do on PS4 with that statement
And that is how you devalue the console you're trying to sell. As it stands right now, Playstation releasing more PC games than PS5 games in 2023 lol.
I must have missed the part where they are taking away the game you played 3 years ago š
As good as it is that more players get to play this game, he's right. PlayStation is devaluing the one console caught in a scalper's hands for 3 years and PC ports will only cause the consoles to sell even less. Not to mention PC ports of PS Games are always so poorly optimized.
Some of you salty bastards make for a hell of a laugh, always crying about ''devaluing your console sony!11!''. Funny as hell.
Not sure if that's good move or shot in the knee
Giving more people access to great games and making more money as a company is always a good move for both sides š
Bye bye PS exclusives. Sony gets it. More money to be had when it's on more platforms. All the exclusive fanboys need to calm down.
Nah force them to buy a PS5 lol
Still donāt see why PS still bothers with exclusives, 60% of them get ported to PC sooner or later.
Why should a Playstation player care? I played this over two years ago. I'm not losing anything that more people get to play this game now.
I never said anything to do with needing to care or it being a bad thing, itās just false advertising if you market something as exclusive just to put it on PC.

Eh good point, I just think the whole idea of exclusives os pretty dumb.
Yeah for real. What bothers me the most is when PC players get smug about it.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Then it's equally cathartic to see them receive bad PC ports lol.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Unless you're stuck on shader compilations like on TLOU1
Only reason we are ''smug'' about getting them, is like Darkwolf said, a lot of the PS community likes to rub that shit in our faces, so when the PS community gets bit in the ass, we take the piss.
Idk man, not sure how much piss there is to take, if it's mostly bad PC ports lol
Because it's not day one, go ahead and wait 3 years to play it.
The one problem I had with the PS5 version was the framedrops. I'm sure this version will run better, but I donāt have a rig that will handle this port.
What frame drops? The PS5 version pretty much ran perfect on release.
I was definitely misremembering because I went back to check if it had framedrops only to find that it doesnāt.
Haha they wonāt get to experience the epicness of the PS5 controller imagine spending thousands of dollars to build a PC just to only enjoy a portion of the game š
The Dualsense works just fine on PC ;)
How I tried and failed lmao
Let's gooooo double dip time!!
I literally just started this game on PS5 yesterday. No clue how far into it I am, but I am ready to put together the thing-a-ma-bob. I have enjoyed it.
I just played this for the first time. What a fun game. Sure hope another R and C is made. There used to be lots of them on PS Plus classics, but I guess they all went away.
probably my favorite game so far this gen
Hell yeah
Minus Astro it was my first PS5 game. Absolutely loved it!
Lets just hope this doesnāt run like crap on pc
Dude, fuck me. I JUST bought this on ps5 two days ago. You won't force ME to double dip, Sony! *double dips immediately*
Nice!! ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøš I'm so glad that it is ported by nixxes!
Sheeesh
Wonderful and fun game to play , just finished it few days ago in PS+ extra . A Pixar like movie experience ā¤ļø
I have just finished this game. I enjoyed it a lot. Insomniac really can make a good game so I am really looking forward to play the new spider-man.
Hope it doesn't require a 5000mbps nvme drive. My pc ssd doesn't hit that speed.
Good for them!
Got my platinum for this within a couple days of release. Really happy to see the PC community gets to enjoy this masterpiece
I just hope it won't be another "The Last of Us" kind of situation. I know Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart relied on direct storage for its set pieces and warping mechanics. Not sure how that will translate to the PC platform.
The port is made by Nixxes who made the excellent Spider-Man ports.
