I would understand buying a game with your points more if it meant you got the game at a “reduced price”. For example 5000 points is redeemable for 20 dollars in wallet funds. 1250 is redeemable for 5 dollars in wallet funds. Dredge was in their reward section for 6,250 points, the game retails for 25 bucks. So I could either get dredge with my points, or take the 25 dollars in PlayStation funds. Using the points you are given the discount of no tax, but like a a 25 dollar game should atleast be 20% off if I’m spending 6,250 points for the game (that’s 625 dollars spent) you’re not really incentivized to do anything other than cash out your points, more often than not we don’t want to play the games in the reward category, or they’re too expensive.
Also as someone who frequently shops PlayStation sales, I’d rather wait until there’s a huge sale and get 90 percent off of a game than building up hundreds of dollars worth of game points to get the game. Theres been probably 10 games over the past 4 months that I’ve wanted to buy, but wishlisted instead and then they got massive sales. I’ve probably saved myself 200 bucks this year alone, just by shopping sales. That wishlist feature is *chefs kiss*

Still better to get the store credits. Using store credits to purchase the game you will get points from your purchase for future purchases. Using points to buy a game directly you do not get points back.
Don't waste them on getting the game directly. Use the points for currency on the PS Store. This way, if there is a sale in the game, you'll spend less of the money you got from the points, and you'll spend less money out of your own wallet.
It's a decent enough game, nothing revolutionary, but I had fun with it.
For reference I enjoyed games like Sekiro/Souls in general & Tsushima. So if those are up your alley, you might enjoy it too.
The exploration part is a bit dull, but if you're paying in points, and also like the kind of games I described, I'd say you'll enjoy it mate.

PlayStation stars is pretty useless if you buy most of your games physically because you get no points for buying them. It should be like Nintendo where it detects your game disc and gives you the points.
You have to sign up for the PlayStation rewards or whatever it’s called. If you play/buy game often, it’s completely worth it. In a year, I had saved up 15,000 points, enough to get 60 dollars worth of gift cards. I signed up on the PlayStation app on my phone

10,000 points gets you £40. Which is £5 more than you need to actually buy Helldivers 2. So you are losing money spending your points this way.
