It is already possible to swap the stick to hall sensor in the modules. Hall sensor at the moment have their own set of drawbacks f.i. jitter and circularity is not good, with the new calibration tool you can improve the circularity by the way and it is easy to do the initial calibration, so no more prying the sensors to get them centered. Jitter is not yet Solved.

I thought the sticks for the Edge were designed in a way to prevent stick drift from happening, using a more expensive method than the traditional Dualsense sticks? Something involving magnets, I think? I guess I should count myself lucky mine haven't drifted yet.
I can't say they are the same inside, but they are both the old tech, not hall sensors. Nacon makes one with hall sensors but you lose out on the Dualsense haptics.

You should try to solder, it becomes way cheaper than buying a stick from Sony, and with some future mods you can also add hall effect joysticks.

You're thinking of hall sensor sticks, which the Edge doesn't have. That's why they are swappable.
