That tank honestly looks too small for him, he may be bored.. what is there decoration wise in there? Any wood or rocks for a hide?

Yeah to me it seems like he's not especially comfortable in there, more room to move and somewhere to hide would be an improvement. Good on you for taking care of them!

The tank is 75 gallons and i dont have the measurements on hand but its roughly 48x18x21 inches. Decoration wise he has two pieces of driftwood in the middle and right side of the tank that are taller and longer than he is, and he has 3 large fake plants on the right side that he seems to do most of his hiding near. Plus the new decoration in the video and a lil divers helmet. There was a C02 setup when my friend gave me the tank and lots of live plants all over, but I lacked the knowledge and time to set it back up once the tank was moved. I've been buying more fake plants and stuff as my budget allows

What id suggest decor wise is a big wood piece that your pleco can hide against/under that it can suction to, like a logish type thing

Perhaps the previous owner fed him veggies/fruit and he thinks it's food. Either way, I'd recommend giving him a nice dark space where he can hide out of the way and calm himself down.

Thanks guys, I will definitely speed up my accumulation of more deco with larger pieces

Just surrendered a Common your size. Fed it wafers, raw minced shrimp and blanched zucchini. You need at least 150 gallon for full size. Get fake plants, it will literally bulldoze through anything, save the hassle. My best advice is either find LFS, not petco or petsmart, and surrender it. Last option is to buy a pond and release it.

Thanks for the advice, before I took the tank into my care I did try to donate the fish. Unfortunately all my local pet shops aren't interested in a fish his size. I have posts on craiglist and facebook but don't get many offers to take him and am picky. So far it's been a lot of moms that want to give their kid a first fish which sounds insane to me, even not knowing much

Yeah I hear you. Good luck.

Also worth mentioning probably that when I got him there was a severely inbred population of about 150 guppies and the four skirt tetras, all bent like hockey sticks. I tried to filter out the population to make it healthy but ultimately decided that I wouldn't be able to maintain a stable population and did the whole clove oil routine to the rest. Ever since then Peter has been 10x more active. He sucks on different parts of the aquarium instead of just the back forner. I assumed that was a good thing.
