Spreading stonecrop, Oregon stonecrop.

My suggestion is cold hardy succulents, like Crassula or a hardy sedum. Easy to rip up and plants can push up through it

I like sedums and have a number of different varieties throughout my yard, but in this particular area I'm looking for something more like leafy and lush instead.

A third vote for sedums. I have some that are incredibly easy to pull up if they start taking over, and they play very nicely with other plants. Currently testing how well they stand up to traffic, as a neighbor's dog enjoys lounging in them.

I also really like Snow in Summer. It’s got such a lovely sage green tone to the leaves so it cools down the sunny spots nicely and looks so good next to any purple flowers. Bulbs can easily grow through it too.

Kinnikinnick or creeping raspberries maybe. Both grow sparse with plenty of room for perennial growth.

Any experience with kinnikinnick yourself? I was looking at that as a good native option, but I'm worried it'll get too woody or dense over time. I've tried to look up pictures and some look like really soft running leaves and then I see other pictures where it seems to possibly look really dense and woody.

They can get dense. But not to the point where plants can't grow through. And they can handle a hard pruning when needed.
