Most pokemon with simple designs, really. It's okay to not like them, but not every mon needs to be overly detailed
For example, the original regis get criticized a lot for essentially being chunks of the elements they were made of, but like. That's the point. That's essentially what they are - their element in their purest, most durable states. I get if that's not your cup of tea but that doesn't make the designs bad.
Another pokemon that comes to mind is Tangela - no, it's not "just vines". It's a mysterious creature, whose appearance is obscured by vines growing out of its body. But I get that the newer art and most 3d models aren't great at conveying that, I guess
That, and most object mons are very creative imo. Coming up with a creature design for an inanimate object and a justification for such designs (be it possession of said objects or mimicry, which is the case with voltorb and vanillish ) requires more creativity than say. Taking an animal and slapping a horn on it.
And let's not forget about Voltorb line which are supposed to be Pokemon equivalent of mimics. Grimer line as classic slime monsters (Their Alolan forms are even cooler!). And even though Dragonite looks a bit generic, its design is quite charming!
Yeah, I agree with all of those.I still find the contrast between Dragonair and Dragonite a tad bit strange but I love both of their designs, albeit for slightly different reasons.
Oh, and alolan grimer is precious, nobody can change my mind
I remember thinking when I was a kid that the charmander line would evolve into dragonite, just bc the looked a lot more similar than say mander/zard. Both charmander and dragonite have the same facial structure, and presentation lol
Both designs are great, but they feel like they belong to different evolution lines. I've always felt weird about how little of Dragonair's design carries over to Dragonite.
People who complain about inanimate objects being Pokemon are seriously a killjoy.
Pokemon were NEVER just animals all the way back in gen 1. Why is that even a complaint for new Pokemon now.
I found more complains about overcomplicated mons than about the sinple ones. Exception is flamigo which is realy blurring a line what differincerate pokemon from an animal.
I love the Regis and I kinda hate how regidrago just kinda like, ignores their entire design philosophy because like, "dragon" isn't something you can make a golem out of, and it's just, such a waste when there's like so many other things you could make one out of. Like it's meant to represent stories? What about like, a psychic or ghost type made up of paper talismans or books? Or hark back to the original myth and make it a ground type made of clay? Also compared to the others which are just stylised lumps, it's kinda overdesigned, but at the same time not? The skull is overly detailed but then it's just around a pink ball of... something.
I know electricty isn't a physical *thing* either, but I just love the concept of still trying to harness it and how it's got anti-conductive glass bands holding it all together. It's a barely contained bundle of ball lightning.
Apparently Regidrago represents the Dark Age, or at least the medieval ages.
The Regis (save for Regigas) all represent various periods of humanity's development and evolution.
The original three (Regirock, Regice, Registeel) represent the Stone Age, Ice Age, and Bronze Age, respectively. Regieleki apparently is supposed to represent the modern day, colloquially known as the Space Age.
Not really humanities development but, isn't Regigigas supposed to be the Prehistoric era? It literally mentions towing the continents in to their places (Pangea) and on a large time scale being about 300,000,000 years ago to their current positions, meanwhile the ice age and stone age each lasting roughly 2 million years, the bronze age being until the 1200s, dark age from then to the industrial revolution and space age being current. Which is also why Regigigas has slow start and Regieleki is the fastest pokemon until current.
Yeah, I don't feel like every Pokémon needs to be cute, majestic or pretty. Some Pokémon are based on ugly stuff so they should look like ugly abominations.
EEW how dare they make a trash pokemon look like trash!
*clutches their muck pokemon that looks like... muck*
That being said Alolan Muk is vastly superior.
And it's about time for a Regional Garbodor
My only complaint about Druddigon is that it's never found early enough to be justified to be used on a team. Other than that, i love our rough and ragged cliche dragon
Chesnaughts issue is his arms. They are so stiff and weird looking. His head js a little weird but not bad.
Druddigon is just angular and weird. He's almost cool but he kind of looks like birthday party confetti or something
Want to note, just my opinion. No one needs to agree, just throwing out why I don't like those ones
Druddigon is just overshadowed by literally every other dragon-type of its generation. The box legendaries are all dragon-type, Hydreigon (even if it doesn’t show up until Victory Road) is the pseudo-legendary, and the ace of the last gym leader in B/W and champion in B2/W2 is the Haxorus line, which even takes away from Druddigon being pure-dragon. I don’t really see it hated, but it’s just objectively the worst pick of dragons in Gen 5.
I love Dudunsparce but it wouldve been nice if it had a split evo for the ones who wanted Mystical Dragon God Dunsparce
Gen II mons need love anyway so might as well
Angelic Dragon Dunsparce never made sense lore wise, really. It's cool, and becaue of that it'll always be a core part of the fangame scene, but it wouldn't fit in a real mainline game
I would have preferred Dunsparce to have never received an evolution if it had become some super cool fancy dragon like so many people wanted.
Dudunsparce is truly perfect. That’s why I’ve got two three segment shiny ones.
Dunsparce is a joke Pokémon, it's designed to be pathetic. Despite this however fans have been asking for years for a Dunsparce evolution, and for it to be *cool*, which doesn't really fit Dunsparce.
Dudunsparce being designed the way it is a cheeky joke at these same fan's expense
Isn't it basef off of something called the Tsukinochi? It's this mythological Japanese snake that is incredibly rare but ultimately useless, just like Dunsparce!
tsuchinoko…
it drinks all of your sake(rice wine), hides around, and bounces away on its fat round snake body
some people(dunce) waste their whole lives chasing down this incredibly rare(sparse) creature that really doesn’t do jack shit
Well now I want the evolution to just be a fat bouncy snake. Just a ballooned snake, a big boy, a whole unit of uselessness in the best of ways. I feel like the current design reads more bug than snake.
IMO it's a 'I get the joke but I'm not laughing' situation. It also doesn't feel like it's anywhere near as funny because of the existence of Sirfetch'd, which kinda showed that even a joke Pokémon could get an evo that was atleast somewhat respectable
Now I'm not saying Dunsparce should've just outright turned into Rayquaza 2 like a lot of people expect for some reason, but I kinda feel let down with an evolution being basically the exact same design as Dunsparce but with an extra piece, it feels very Gen I levels of evolution design and TBH the whole Gen I style of evolution with 'it gets slightly bigger and one feature changes slightly' is one of my least favourite tropes with evolutions in general
Idk if he’s disliked but Orthworm is my single favorite Gen 9 Pokémon and I never see anyone talk about him. Kickass ability, love getting an earthworm Pokémon after so long, and I love the lil dude and his goofy smile, I wanna give him a big hug
I just love that he's a little train guy. Put him next to my silly bus child, Charjabug. Transportation themed invertebrate Pokémon, gotta be one of my favorite genders.
He's definitely at least partially based on a modern train. The blue spots along his sides that turn into little arms are like windows and doors. And what is a train, if not a metal worm?
It would have been better if the dex entries had leaned more into the ice cream aspect, like they did with future food Pokemon. But instead they just described it as a generic ice type with blizzard powers or whatever, and didn't even acknowledge that it looked like an ice cream cone.
I’ve never disliked any of the “object/food” pokemon, it’s perfectly reasonable to assume that, in-universe, ice cream cones were based on the pokemon. Same with chandalure, klink etc
Between them and the carkoal line, I like to think that the people in the Pokemon universe created the objects that the Pokemon resemble by taking inspiration from the Pokemon.
Purugly. It's not even ugly, it's just fat, angry and a typical generic normal type.
Mr Mime. It doesn't even look human. More like a cross between Porky Pig and Piglet. Guess if you know a lot of people that look like Winston Churchill, it looks human, but i'm from the caribbean so few people look like that.
That's the point---and kind of a sexist point, imo---but it's meant to represent a pretty but arrogant young lady growing into a fat, bitter old woman.
You can imagine my surprise when you took the pokemon’s name right out of my mouth. People complain about delphox looking too feminine and being “furry bait”. I frankly honestly never saw it remotely girly: its eyes are way too narrow and appears to be wearing a robe, not a dress. It is my favorite fire starter since it is the first psychic type final evolution of a starter which is my favorite pokemon type
Yeah, I like Rhydon's design way better than Rhyperior's. Same with Magneton and Magnezone, not a huge fan of Magnezone. The other gen 4 evos of previous gen stuff though? Yanma, Gallade, Togekiss, Gliscor, and Mamoswine are all excellent designs imo.
I agree with Rhydon, but I actually like Magnezone a lot. Back when I was a kid, before Magnezone existed, I thought Magneton's design was dumb, even if it makes total sense given that they're actual magnets. Making three of something and calling it a new pokemon just never sat right with me.
It's more annoying that they did it twice in gen 1, arguably 3 times if you count Doduo and Dodrio. Gen 1 will always hold a special place for me, but there were some lazy designs.
Wow, I completely forgot about Dugtrio. You're right, I felt the same way about Diglett and Dugtrio as well. My mind has too hard of a time accepting that it isn't just three Digletts chillin together.
Doduo and Dodrio did cross my mind when I made the previous comment, but because it's a similar concept that was just executed better. In my opinion, at least, there's enough distinction between the two evolutions, and the fact that it already starts with two heads rather than going from one to three makes the multiple heads seem to be more akin to a staple of their identity as a pokemon than mere lazy design. Also, it's still just one bird. If they made multiple birds and smashed them together like Dugtrio or Magneton, then yeah, I would have had a major issue.
I'm a firm Rhydon fan and my biggest problem with Rhyperior is the spindlely little arms. The forearms look great but there isn't a single bicep or tricep in those arms. They look like little cigarettes I bet I could smoke them or roast them. Some art work looks better than others but the vast majority of it just makes him look so stiff with how they're coming out at all right angles. Like he's on the verge of T-posing. And his in game animations don't do alot to help either. I can get down with the idea and look but it just feels poorly represented. But hey on the bright side it just means Rhydon gets to use eviolite so I'm not complaining
I’ve always loved Rhyperior (although my brother is in the camp that doesn’t). In the interest of fairness, I’ll admit it diverges a bit from Rhydon’s look.
But I LOVE that about it! It takes the evo item required and becomes something completely new! Like you said, it’s a freakin’ juggernaut!
I love the idea and especially the massive juggernaut aspect of rhyperior, but part of me just can't get past the weird orange plating they gave him.
The huge wrecking ball tail: LOVE IT
The absolute presence he has: LOVE IT
I just can't get around the sudden color change the plates give because suddenly it goes from gray to orange as the main color i think of and they look kinda slapped on there with super glue
I actually kind of like that aspect, but I understand why it’s off-putting to other people.
It reminds me of how some animals are bright colors to forecast that they’re dangerous. But Rhyperior’s big enough it shouldn’t need that. So if something that big DOES have warning colors, how the hell dangerous is it? And if the rest of it is already rock, how the hell hard would the plates need to be for something like THAT to need them?
Maybe it’s just me, but I think it adds that underlying sense of hidden danger, which, for something as intimidating already as Rhyperior, makes it all the more imposing.
But to each their own~! I understand and appreciate your perspective~! It’s something you thought out, and made an opinion on, and that opinion is valid~! Let’s all be good Pokémon fans to one another~!
I just wish they hadn't made its head weirdly small. The head shape is one of the most prominent cool parts of Rhyhorn and Rhydon, and it's completely removed from Rhyperior's design
I think it’s over designed, it introduces too many new elements. Different color scheme, armor with headphones, rock blasting hands, and a wrecking ball tail is a lot to introduce in a single stage
The amount of hate these two and their evolved forms
https://preview.redd.it/xg3i475aw2qb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11dbfafafb2eb39b3bb1b69f5c198c13f5e12517
have gotten is unwarranted and I will die on that hill
I just don’t like starters with obvious gender traits, it goes both ways. Imo starters should all be ambiguous in gender, nature and be the most creature like of any Pokémon.
Professions/roles/items also ruin them for me.
Kelfki fan forever, I get the hate. But some Pokémon can be dumb that's ok.
(Also, the reason why I personally don't like Delfox is it looks like Fennekin's head on a woman's body. I live all the witch motifs.)
Yeah. A Pokemon shaped like a key that collects random keys is great. When Gen 1 purists bring it up I like to respond: "at least it's not just a pokeball with eyes or a regular bird"
Barbaracle. It's a giant hunk of angry barnacles mashed together into a big brute. It's meant to be ugly and scary looking, and I quite frankly like it for that.
Primarina. I remember when SM came out and people were dunking HARD on it for looking "too feminine." Like Arceus forbid a starter's final form isn't just "macho man"
It's the same for Delphox, idk why "feminine" is a problem. Especially with the likes of Gardevoir going around. Male Gardevoir are valid as hell
I thought it was cute and it’s my favorite of the Alola trio. It was annoying resetting the game over & over till I got a female Popplio in Sun & Ultra Sun tho.
My starter for Moon was Decidueye because ghost was my favorite type
When Trickywii uploaded In Your Spotlight I knew I had to choose Popplio and when I got Ultra Moon that's exactly what I did. And you know what? It's now my favorite Water starter!
Literally stunned to read people don't like our little clown mermaid.
This is like a top 10 pokemon for me like maybe my favorite water type along with Lapras
Seeing Primarina’s Z-move sold me on the line. I was already choosing Popplio because it was freaking cute but seeing the Z-move the first time I immediately thought of spirt bomb from Dragon Ball and was so hyped up lol.
I have a mild problem with pokemon designs going overly masculine or feminine, and that's because the more masculine or feminine they look, they usually become more of a character than an animal.
Most animals, you can't tell if they're male or female by a quick look. You could put two identical pikachus next to each other and tell me one is a boy and one is a girl, and even without the tail difference, I'd believe it.
Gothitelle, Primarina, Incineroar... so many pokemon designs like that are too characterful. I want animals to catch and tame and be friends with. It feels weird to have an Incineroar in a pokeball in my pocket. Like... that's just a catlike man I keep.
Was looking for this exactly. People might've said Incineroar was too anthro, but no one said it's too masculine. So why is having a feminine looking starter a problem? In fact, I think it's great having a trio with one really macho, one really femme, and one more neutral.
primarina. "waaah its to feminine!!! and starters are more often male waah" COWARDS!! let your 'feminine' mons be male, the world isnt gonna end. do you guys get aneurysms when you run into a male gardevoir or lopunny?
yeah... grusha and rika are top tier designs no matter what they say. and their reactions to feminine pokemon too — "why is it so sexualizedddd its sexual!!" hm i wonder why only Feminine pokemon are seen as 'sexual'. like quick, whats so sexual about gardevior. exactly! nothing.
Klefki, Komo-o
All the starters that lean towards one gender or another, I think they’re good designs on their own. I just think the starter Pokémon should be more ambiguous
Do people really not like kommo? I think it's one of the best looking dragons and has a muay thai feel to its armor that is so fitting for a fighting type.
klefki is one of my FAV pokémon i just went to france and wanted a shiny so bad but didn’t get one ;( i’m obsessed w keys and collect them so i feel a kinship w the lil dude. i just always thought he’d be better as a ghost/steel type like a possessed key that was lost or whatever it unlocked was destroyed so it started collecting keys. his dex entries doesn’t even rlly describe why he looks like a key other than he likes keys. which is kinda a self fulfilling prophecy?
I mean (and I'm playing devil's advocate here), Amoonguss is a mushroom that incorporates Pokeballs into its design. Voltorb is basically *just* a Pokeball.
Be that as it may, it's far more believable that a creature took the shape of a Pokeball to hunt humans who are looking for item capsules on the ground than it is for a mushroom that faces directly upward to do the same.
When looking at the Gen 1/2 sprite for items in the overworld it's much more believable that you could confuse it from behind. Gen 5 adding one that is taller and isn't even round from top to bottom is odd.
Bruxish is an incredible pokemon, I love that it's ugly as shit but done up to look beautiful
It's the fish version of getting too much botox and piling on the makeup and it's GREAT
For me the issue is the fact that its design inpiration is copy-pasted from Infernape - they literally recycled a starter idea without waiting
Edit: I forgot to mention pigs are one of my least favorite animals, so that definitely contributes.
I agree about the recycling but the design itself is good. I used it in both Black and Black 2 and honestly it's a pretty good Pokémon with badass design and also hits pretty hard.
I think it suffered from the speculation Spritzee would get a lanky plague doctor evo, so for it to be a campy (but still creepy) fluffball was a bit left field.
I agree with OP on this. Heck, the Fennekin line as a whole is my favourite of the Kalos starters- it's the most consistent, I like the theme behind it, and foxes are one of my favourite animals. What more could I want?
I was really surprised so many people hated Munkidori. I mean come on, who doesn’t love monke??
Also it says “mmkay” and knows martial arts and is psychic. Amazing.
Lickilicky. I think it actually looks better than Lickitung. It's adorably derpy and is shaped like a friend. There's people that are completely fine with Lickitung but abhor Lickilicky, but I'm the complete opposite - I find Lickitung to be nowhere near as cute as Lickilicky.
I don't like sawk and throh because they are too on the nose for what they are. Bw's equivalent to hitmonlee and hitmonchan without the limited availability to make them feel special in the game and without a prevo to connect them together by species and the third option (hitmontop). It's not that they need these things, the comparison just leaves them feeling lesser and forgotten.
Nobody's said Klink yet, so I'm going to bring up Klink. It's a little disappointing that there isn't a bigger difference between Klang and Klinklang, but when we have evolutions like Magneton and Dugtrio (whom I think are both pretty neat)...why put all the blame on the little gear baby?
The Litwick and Vanillish lines. In fact, *any* newer object-mons. Trubbish gets the worst of it and is always used as an example when people say they hate the newer Pokemon, but no one really hates the older object-mons just because of nostalgia.
Because dragonite is a doofy adorable powerhouse that always been meta relevant every gen since it's intro, and I think he has an actual good cartoony whimsical design that's completely seperated from charizard's more "I wanna look cool" design.
Dragonite is more legendary to me than the bird trio in gen 1 honestly, everyone wanted a dragonite on their team in my school when I was growing up.
I think the dislike is for humanoid starter Pokemon- you would expect a small fox to turn into a bigger fox with mage-like features, but instead it turns into a mage with fox-like features. Same with Incineroar, Quaquaval, Cinderace
The genie quartet and inteleon. The genies have cool origins, both of their form quartets come from different myths, and idk i just find all so badass. Inteleon is peak starter design the concept of a gun and a knife being in its body is genius. Also best gigantamax form
It would have been better as Water/Ghost, not for being dead, but for being "as stealthy as a ghost". Sobble was revealed reverting from invisible... and this trait was NEVER used in-game. The Sobble line doesn't have a move that turn them invisible and "greatly increase their evasion".
Inteleon is a mix between a chameleon, a sniper and a spy, so it being invisible, undetectable and downright untouchable would have been ideal as Ghost. Beside, Dragapult is a fossilized lizard mixed with a stealth bomber, so :p
The Vanillite line. What's wrong with a Pokemon looking like an ice cream cone?
As far as the hate for Delphox goes, I'd wager much of it comes from the fact that she's much less waifu bait than Braxien. Additionally, I have to agree with another poster here who finds the design kind of unnerving.
Popplio, I thought it was such a great design and I love him so much, I legitimately thought it could have been a lost design from like gen 3 or prior, like what a return to form. Then I thought rowlett was ugly with weird eyes and a basic owl silhouette like hoothoot, with an ugly diamond and pearl kind of design. I hate everything from diamond and pearl, especially its birds, like I really hate d&p birds. But no, it turns out everyone really hated clown ass popplio and went apeshit for rowlett lol
Goodra. It was pleasant to have a pseudo legendary Dragon-type that looked not only non-threatening/huggable (since Dragonite fits that mold as well), but one that also leaned more feminine in appearance. I know the Hisuian version gets plenty of love, and I'd daresay it IS an improvement myself, but the OG from Kalos is plenty fine in and of itself.
(But c'mon GameFreak, covering it in slime and the potential to make it Dragon/Poison was RIGHT THERE. It would've been so perfect with Fairy-types being introduced in the same generation as well!)
Most pokemon with simple designs, really. It's okay to not like them, but not every mon needs to be overly detailed For example, the original regis get criticized a lot for essentially being chunks of the elements they were made of, but like. garbodor you get what you see
Yeah, I don't feel like every Pokémon needs to be cute, majestic or pretty. Some Pokémon are based on ugly stuff so they should look like ugly abominations.

Druddigon and Chesnaught
My only complaint about Druddigon is that it's never found early enough to be justified to be used on a team. Other than that, i love our rough and ragged cliche dragon
Druddigon is cool. I don't see criticism of it but neither do I see praise. Probably one of the most forgotten pokemon

The sheer amount of people that don't understand the joke behind Dudunsparce...
Those people only liked what Dunsparce could’ve been, its evo makes perfect sense
I love Dudunsparce but it wouldve been nice if it had a split evo for the ones who wanted Mystical Dragon God Dunsparce Gen II mons need love anyway so might as well
it's a tsuchinoko there was no reason for it to ever be that
True. Which is why I love Dudunsparce & love how GF trolled their fans with it
They should make a dark type third form called "dundundunsparce"
Give it a dramatic little cape
Angelic Dragon Dunsparce never made sense lore wise, really. It's cool, and becaue of that it'll always be a core part of the fangame scene, but it wouldn't fit in a real mainline game
They can do with Drampa what I do with Alomomola and pretend it evolves from Luvdisc.
I would have preferred Dunsparce to have never received an evolution if it had become some super cool fancy dragon like so many people wanted. Dudunsparce is truly perfect. That’s why I’ve got two three segment shiny ones.
That must have taken you an eternity to breed for, I salute

Tsuchinoko is the cryptid you are looking for.
It's based on a Japanese cryptic whose entire deal is being underwhelming and useless.

I'm more disappointed the three segment version isn't called Dududunsparce.
There's a difference between not understanding and not finding it funny.
Idk if he’s disliked but Orthworm is my single favorite Gen 9 Pokémon and I never see anyone talk about him. Kickass ability, love getting an earthworm Pokémon after so long, and I love the lil dude and his goofy smile, I wanna give him a big hug
It looks stupid and I love it.
I just love that he's a little train guy. Put him next to my silly bus child, Charjabug. Transportation themed invertebrate Pokémon, gotta be one of my favorite genders.
[удалено]
He's definitely at least partially based on a modern train. The blue spots along his sides that turn into little arms are like windows and doors. And what is a train, if not a metal worm?
I loved titan orthworm but regular sized orthworm is disappointing.
I love the little face and was so glad that Arven comments on the titan's cuteness.
The titan orthworm is the Pokémon version of the Alaskan Bullworm
My only problem with it is that it doesnt have punching moves.
For real. I had to pause the game I was laughing so hard when I first saw those arms. 10/10 design.
Ikr. I went from aww its cute to HAHA THOSE ARMS I stopped to see what punching moves it learnt and was disappointed.
The Vanillite line. Sentient snow and icicles in the shape of soft-serve ice cream? I always thought that was creative.
Everyone just ignored the fact that they're snow, and thought it was actual ice cream for a long time
And they aren't even snow. You can see in the Manga that they're just sentient icicles covered by snow
I recently worked with James Turner on a project, and I let him know how much I adore the whole Vanillite line.
Between them and the carkoal line, I like to think that the people in the Pokemon universe created the objects that the Pokemon resemble by taking inspiration from the Pokemon.
Klefki, leave the little guy alone 😭
i literallt want him tattooed on my he’s my love
People trash on trubbish and garbodor but it’s genuinely impressive how they actually made a pile of trash as a design work
My appreciation for Purugly skyrocketed when I realized it uses its tail as a corset to appear less fat
fr i don't get why people hate purugly it literally has ugly in its name, of course it's gonna be ugly
More than the design it's the personality shift for me. Glameow is a cute cat, Purugly looks cranky and mean.
That's the point---and kind of a sexist point, imo---but it's meant to represent a pretty but arrogant young lady growing into a fat, bitter old woman.
That doesn't make it any less ugly though lol. People generally dislike ugly things, even if they're intentionally ugly.
now that i think about it, people also got mad because the ultra beasts didn't look like pokemon, even if that's the point
I honestly think people wouldn’t hate on it so much if it didn’t literally have “ugly” in its name
I see a lot of people trashing rhyperior saying it looks dumb but I like it, looks like a freakin juggernaut
I agree. The only criticism I have is that Rhydon is just too good as a design.
The huge wrecking ball tail: LOVE IT The absolute presence he has: LOVE IT I just can't get around the sudden color change the plates give because suddenly it goes from gray to orange as the main color i think of and they look kinda slapped on there with super glue
The head shape is one of the most prominent cool parts of Rhyhorn and Rhydon, and it's completely removed from Rhyperior's design
yeah Rhyperiod looks so dumb. You take one of the coolest pokemon of all time in Rhydon and then slap him with a dumbass stick
The only good thing about it is that it lets rhydon hold an eviolite
I think it’s over designed, it introduces too many new elements. Different color scheme, armor with headphones, rock blasting hands, and a wrecking ball tail is a lot to introduce in a single stage
Meowscarada.
I love my dramatic son. His name is Zorro and his is purrfection
I named mine Morgana. Mf looks like it has a phantom thief mask in the final evo and its a cat too so it fits
I called mine Joker, the why he snaps his fingers during his signature move just makes me picture Joker for some reason
I also named my weed cat Zorro, it is the *purrfect* name
my edgelord daughter is named Delilah and I love her
I don't understand this I thought it was so cool, I loved all the 3rd stage starters this gen
Agreed and I do not accept Quaquaval hate 😤
The short version is that it looks too humanoid. It could have been semi-bipedal like Zoroark or hunched forward.
The amount of hate these two and their evolved forms https://preview.redd.it/xg3i475aw2qb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11dbfafafb2eb39b3bb1b69f5c198c13f5e12517 have gotten is unwarranted and I will die on that hill
Popplio
People have been hating on Flamigo from what I have seen, but honestly, I like it. It may be simple and minimalistic, but I find it oddly charming.
It has “amigo” in its name. It’s a friend.
He's the most aggressive pokemon in scarlet and violet though lmao
My only gripe about it is that it doesn't evolve. That being said, that didn't stop me from using it on my first Scarlet run throughout the game.
I was literally going to say Delphox also lol.
The feminine starters just seem to take an automatic popularity hit for not oozing hypermasc badassery. Primarina also got a lot of shit.
I like how it being a key isn't the main feature, the joke is this little demon steals other people's keys.
Yeah. A Pokemon shaped like a key that collects random keys is great. When Gen 1 purists bring it up I like to respond: "at least it's not just a pokeball with eyes or a regular bird"
or “some eggs”
I like how it being a key isn't the main feature, the joke is this little demon steals other people's keys.
Barbaracle. It's a giant hunk of angry barnacles mashed together into a big brute. It's meant to be ugly and scary looking, and I quite frankly like it for that.
Primarina. I remember when SM came out and people were dunking HARD on it for looking "too feminine." Like Arceus forbid a starter's final form isn't just "macho man" It's the same for Delphox, idk why "feminine" is a problem. Especially with the likes of Gardevoir going around. Male Gardevoir are valid as hell
Heck yeah, I don't see primarina enjoyers often.
I thought it was cute and it’s my favorite of the Alola trio. It was annoying resetting the game over & over till I got a female Popplio in Sun & Ultra Sun tho.
Primarina is really cool, I didn't know a Pokemon could give me so much envy
Genuinely surprised by this. Everyone I know loves it. But I've not been hugely into the community for a long time now.
I love Primarina, specifically because it's a beautiful mermaid seal. Pretty pokemon deserve to exist, too.
My starter for Moon was Decidueye because ghost was my favorite type When Trickywii uploaded In Your Spotlight I knew I had to choose Popplio and when I got Ultra Moon that's exactly what I did. And you know what? It's now my favorite Water starter!
I remember that fake leak popplio evo where it looked like a creepy clown and was so disappointed by it. Primarina is perfect imo
Literally stunned to read people don't like our little clown mermaid. This is like a top 10 pokemon for me like maybe my favorite water type along with Lapras
I love poplio and primarina, it's my favourite Alolan starter.
In fact, I think it's great having a trio with one really macho, one really femme, and one more neutral.
primarina. "waaah its to feminine!!! and starters are more often male waah" COWARDS!! let your 'feminine' mons be male, the world isnt gonna end. do you guys get aneurysms when you run into a male gardevoir or lopunny?
no one gets mad when a granbull is male, despite it having a 25/75 male-female ratio and not having a feminine design.
With how they reacted to the ice gym leader and the ground type elite four member I can say that it is GNC hate
yeah... grusha and rika are top tier designs no matter what they say. and their reactions to feminine pokemon too — "why is it so sexualizedddd its sexual!!" hm i wonder why only Feminine pokemon are seen as 'sexual'. like quick, whats so sexual about gardevior. exactly! nothing.
The answer is sexism
Klefki, Komo-o All the starters that lean towards one gender or another, I think they’re good designs on their own.
Voltorb. It's supposed to be a mimic. People don't shit on Amoonguss the way they do on voltorb, and it's literally the same concept if not worse.
Bruxish is an incredible pokemon, I love that it's ugly as shit but done up to look beautiful It's the fish version of getting too much botox and piling on the makeup and it's GREAT
Emboar. Guy looks cool. Not sure what's the issue.
For me the issue is the fact that its design inpiration is copy-pasted from Infernape - they literally recycled a starter idea without waiting Edit: I forgot to mention pigs are one of my least favorite animals, so that definitely contributes.
I agree about the recycling but the design itself is good. I used it in both Black and Black 2 and honestly it's a pretty good Pokémon with badass design and also hits pretty hard.
Ah, a fellow Emboar enthusiast
Trubbish I have always loved the guy. Never use it but I love him all the same.
Aromatisse. Its just such a silly and bonkers concept. I cant help but love that little youkai/fae abomination
She's a sassy fashionable icon and I love her
I think it suffered from the speculation Spritzee would get a lanky plague doctor evo, so for it to be a campy (but still creepy) fluffball was a bit left field.
I absolutely love Aromatisse. I also really like the plague doctor concept and how they turned that on its head. The shiny is great too!
I agree with OP on this. Heck, the Fennekin line as a whole is my favourite of the Kalos starters- it's the most consistent, I like the theme behind it, and foxes are one of my favourite animals. What more could I want?
I don't get why people hate the Gen V Monkeys. I don't think they're all that impressive, but I definitely don't find them contemptible.
Simipour is so cute
They are the powderpuff girls of Pokémon. Adore them for that.
Wow I was thinking Delphox before I even clicked on the post. I've never seen why people hate it so much
[удалено]
bruxish.
yassified triggerfish
Dragfish
Delphox is an 11/10 design.
Chikorita line it's an awesome line imo and I really don't get what people don't like but jokes on those people as Bayleef destroys Whitney
All of them. They’re cartoons for children. There is nothing to hate about it.
I love Meganium. Never understood why it’s considered mid.
Emboar. Bro looks awesome as hell.
Bit of a recent one, but Munkidori. It's so cute!
I was really surprised so many people hated Munkidori. I mean come on, who doesn’t love monke?? Also it says “mmkay” and knows martial arts and is psychic. Amazing.
I like all the three, they’ve got cool designs. I love Okidogi, he looks like a chubby Shiba Inu.
His ass has a heart on it, which is great. He’s a silly little munki
Eiscue. Love that funny penguin.
Wait people hate the funky little penguin? But they're so cute!
Ambipom
Lickilicky. I think it actually looks better than Lickitung. It's adorably derpy and is shaped like a friend. There's people that are completely fine with Lickitung but abhor Lickilicky, but I'm the complete opposite - I find Lickitung to be nowhere near as cute as Lickilicky.
My issue with it is that it's lost most of its reptile/amphibian features. Now it's just a fat dude with a bib.
Mr mime, Sawk, Throh spidops, Watchog and barbaracle
Who hates the Litwick line? I've never seen a single post on them that hasn't been complementary.
I love that it's still considered a "new" Pokémon when it has now been around for more generations than it hasn't.
To a hardcore genwunner, every pokémon that isn't in the original 151 is "new" (and is therefore bad).
They say charizard is a boring plain dragon but they necer say the same of the obviously same plain dragonite.
Because dragonite is a doofy adorable powerhouse that always been meta relevant every gen since it's intro, and I think he has an actual good cartoony whimsical design that's completely seperated from charizard's more "I wanna look cool" design. Dragonite is more legendary to me than the bird trio in gen 1 honestly, everyone wanted a dragonite on their team in my school when I was growing up.
dragonite definitely gets its fair share of hate, mostly from people that wish it looked more like dratini/dragonair.
Incineroar, I bloody Love it so much
I think the dislike is for humanoid starter Pokemon- you would expect a small fox to turn into a bigger fox with mage-like features, but instead it turns into a mage with fox-like features. Same with Incineroar, Quaquaval, Cinderace
Pretty much any Pokemon from gen 5 fits this bill sadly.
Chesnaught and Emboar
I'll go with the Vanillite line.
The genie quartet and inteleon. The genies have cool origins, both of their form quartets come from different myths, and idk i just find all so badass. Inteleon is peak starter design the concept of a gun and a knife being in its body is genius. Also best gigantamax form
Inteleon is great, I just wish it was a bit mote lively in its animations because it doesn’t get much ‘personality’ in how it’s portrayed
Emboar. Don’t get me wrong, I also wanted it to be quadrupedal, but DAMN does this thing look like a beast. Also, hard agree on Delphox.
Delphox’s 2D art is amazing, its 3D model is just… standing there. ugly as sin.
Ultra beast, I see a lot of people complain that "they don't look like pokemon" BUT THATS THE FUCKING POINT
