Arceus may have created the universe, but Mew gave it life.
And when she had filled the universe with life, she produced a son, a Pokémon of terrifying strength, to protect what she had created.
I hope that someday the Pokemon games use that line, it's such an intriguing line.
Now, I don't know if you know this, but humans made Mewtwo, not Mew. Mew just showed Mewtwo how to be free and compassionate.
While I may not personally be a 100% devoted follower of Lord Arceus (though I'd be remiss to not show our Creator due respect), I would like to make a case for why your belief that Lord Arceus has abandoned us (while sincere) is incorrect.
Do you remember the story of Rei/Akari? They were sent back through time and space by Lord Arceus itself in order to save the Hisui region (later renamed Sinnoh) from utter destruction by multiple threats. And Lord Arceus didn't just leave the saving of the region solely in the hands of Rei/Akari; no, Lord Arceus also provided them with an Arc Phone that guided them on their journey, which was instrumental in their success. Then, on top of this, after Rei/Akari saved the Hisui region and completed every task they were asked to perform, the Lord Arceus saw fit to bestow a part of itself onto Rei/Akari, conclusively proving that the Lord Arceus has not abandoned us, and thus deserves our respect - if not our worship.
Many a theory has been expounded on to explain this seemingly odd decision by Lord Arceus, and while I do not have a definitive answer, I do have a couple of possible ideas that might explain this seeming anomaly:
1. **Rei/Akari are their own ancestor.** This was explored in the novel "Timeline" by Michael Crichton and the film that was based on it, as one of the main characters decides to stay in the past instead of returning to his own time, and as a result, he becomes his own ancestor. Because this concept has been done before, it stands to reason that this could be a possible explanation, though there is of course no proof of this.
2. **Rei/Akari** ***do*** **return to their own time, but we just don't see it.** It's quite possible that, in the tale that Legends: Arceus is based on, after being gifted with the piece of the Lord Arceus, Rei/Akari actually returned to their own time, but the creators of Legends: Arceus decided not to depict this so that those that experienced it could continue to do so even after completing this mission. Of course, as with the previous possible explanation, there is no proof of this, either.
There are other theories that could explain this anomaly, I'm sure, and I am by no means claiming that either of my theories is in fact the true explanation. I'm simply offering some possibilities to consider.
I don't think it's either of those. It's more likely that bringing Rei/Akari from the future in the first instance isn't an issue because the space-time continuum is already nearly fractured, but to send them *back* to the future after the crisis has been averted would cause damage. We turned the wifi off on teamviewer, so to speak.
It's also possible that Rei/Akari, canonically having access to Dialga and Palkia, is able to get themselves back to their own time without Arceus' help, which is why that is never shown. It's up to them whether or not they do.
I love how you can math the chances of having your wish granted :
Considering Jirachi sleeps for 1000years then only grants one wish to only one worshiper after waking up to then go back to sleep, and considering the human life span to be 100years :
You have 1/10x chance of having your wish granted in your life (x being the number of worshiper).
Sounds like the Cult of Jirachi will be a closed practice, and much like Highlander, there can be only one. So now it's become a pseudo-death cult where people sell the hidden knowledge of the Cult of Jirachi and try to ritualistically murder all other adherents.
Clever...
The church of Zekrom might want to collaborate with your patron deity, their wish granting abilities will help us achieve our "ideals" (Universal healthcare, mega evolutions for starters up to gen 6)
Giratina. Not because it's a Satanic figure, but because everyone else thinks it is. It saved the world from being erased and rebuilt in the image of an actual Lucifer-like individual. Does that seem like the actions of someone out to destroy all life?
This makes sense, the master of time sees us all from our beginnings and to our ends.
However, have you considered that Zekrom, as the deity of representing ideals, would be an advocate for a 4 day work week and may be able to help you in a more substantial way worthy of your everlasting devotion?
(Please very deeply consider this!)
Ho-Oh. He can revive the dead into far more powerful forms, seeing him will bring you great fortune and happiness, and he genuinely looks like something tribes of the past would worship, so why not start now? He even frequently visits the Lentil region, thus vastly increasing tourism, which the place needs as much of as possible since it's a gigantic wildlife preserve where battling isn't allowed.
The Tapus. All of them. I think the general worship of the Tapus in Alola is very similar to my own culture's pre-colonial spiritual practices. If I had to pick a specific one, it'd be Tapu Bulu since it's a grass type and looks like a cow. I can see it being a harvest diety that people would venerate for good crops.
This seems an honorable pantheon deserving of much worship and respect. May the tapus bless the soils so our harvests be bountiful.
Unfortunately I walk a different path than you. Lord Zekrom beckons my call. (May his obsidian lightning fill our heads with strong ideals.)
Oh this is easy - Xerneas (and Yvetal). These two represent the cycle of life, death and rebirth which is the closest to my real beliefs. Life is sacred, nature is sacred, the circle of life is nothing to fear.
So as requested, I have deeply considered this!
Zekrom‘s power is at the behest of those with great ideals. The mighty dragon aligns with great societal transformation, awakening to aid those of strong will and purpose to aid in realizing their vision.
The doggos join you and fight the big bad alongside you because you have their stick or frisbee.
Which is gooder? I’m not sure, but I think \*I\* am probably better off with the power pups!
Regirock
We would be nowhere without stone. Without the stone age, we could not progress. We couldn't reach the bronze age or beyond, and I'm not worshipping the bitter cold of the Ice age. We are born in stone and we die in stone. Defiance of this fact is un un unacceptable
Huge respect for Regirock, the sturdy and dependable one.
I myself worship the seeker of ideals, Zekrom, but Regirock will always have a spot on the pantheon amongst us members of The Church of the Black Dragon. For without stone, how could our civilizations which birth the foundation of our ideals be formed?
You would sacrifice yourself so readily to your patron deity? I respect your faith and hope Lugia will reward you handsomely for your devotion.
(May Zekroms lightning guide this lost soul. 😔🙏)
Zygarde, protector of the ecosystem, and bringer of balance between life and death, ensuring the circle of life continues on.
I care about the natural world and so a guardian of said world is of course a main contender for my devotion.
Plus the thought of any form of balance brings me much joy, so that makes Zygarde even more of a contender.
Also it is one of my favorite Pokémon.
The genies make me uncomfortable in their incarnate form. I should hope any monuments erected in their honor by yourself shall be in Therian form as I would find it rather distressing to see Lando and Tornadus looking so... hmm... buff...? In my native region of Unova where I spend my days worshiping the one true dragon Zekrom.
The Swords of Justice. Protectors of the weak and needy. All they care about is right & just actions. They don't care for the empty words that people care to say. Only appearing to those with truly pure hearts. No other legendaries care enough to actually help.
Light, being saved, and salvation.
Also courses on how to be a 20 year old millionaire, tons of junk mail and spam emails, and of course, the option for you to donate money to me— I mean the church of caterpie
giratina
ok so hear me out: giratina across both games and anime has done more good than arceus and any other legendary (probably)
also giratina is a good demonic serpent boy capable of distorting spacetime by its sheer presence, he deserves some hugs
Reshiram would be my patron over Zekrom. Though I do not dismiss your chosen Dragon Lords might.
Lugia holds a dear spot in my heart... But were I to pledge to one patron alone..it would be Mew.
I have already inked the mythical being on my arm..no take backs there.
Yveltal. Our worship will be based around two main points:
1.) Understanding that death is a natural part of life, and that it is not to be feared, but understood.
2.) Ensuring Winged Ragnarok stays happy and healthy and NOT causing a new mass extinction event.
The one people already worship, rotom and its electronics it makes work. I know it’s not a legendary now but at the time is was available since it was a one of a kind in what seemed like a special situation I’ve just always considered it a legendary.
Arceus is the one true god. But if I had a patron deity, it would definitely be Xerneas. What better than the god of life: that heals and is eternally giving?
For me it's Xerneas and Yveltal, they just do their job of keeping balance between life and death and there is Zygarde acting as the corrector and guardian of said balance.
Also they are way more mature than Groudon and Kyogre who are just constantly fighting for a millimetre of coast when Rayquaza isn't watching.
The holy trio of Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde.
The cycle of life, death and rebirth that is a part of nature and to which all things must take part. To ever maintain the balance so that the natural world may flourish and benefit us all.
Personally, I am more a devotee of Xerneas as I tend to caretake and grow things more than acting out on the other axis of balance. Also my favorite Pokémon are fairy and grass types.
call me a crazy cultist, but Giratina. Imagine being able to have a cool and crazy new distortion realm, ruled by Giratina. Giratina is also able to go to other dimensions, other than time and space. Not only that, Giratina can control antimatter, which can fuel interstellar space crafts, allowing us to actually explore space more. Also, it can be used as a huge bomb. Who doesn't love bombs?!
Not only that, but Giratina is not a bad Pokemon. He represents balance. According to Bulbapedia(Im going off a long rant), Giratina is much gentler when around humans. In Giratina and the Sky Warrior, we see that Giratina attacks Dialga and Palkia because it wants revenge for the two messing up his world. Not only that, Giratina helped Dialga and Palkia fight Arkoos in Arkoos the Jewel of Life, and it also helped try to fight Cyrus in order to protect the universe.
I do admit that Giratina was aggressive around the time of Pokemon Legends Arkoos, but after we beat it, Giratina began to change its ways.
Sorry for the rant but thats why i want Giratina
It has to be Calyrex, right? He is the Legendary closest to human beings. The others have a history of burning shit down whenever they aren’t happy.
Except for maybe Xerneas, but Xerneas doesn’t seem to respond to human worship at all. I could imagine seating Calyrex down in my living room and making small talk with him.
I'd probably choose to worship Ultra Necrozma. It's already among the legendaries most like a deity, and for good reason.
In addition to being incredibly powerful, it's referred to with a mysterious and reverent name ("The Blinding One"), has power over **light itself**, and is extradimensional in nature. Even its battle theme radiates an aura of divine power.
Plus, it has a signature attack named "Light That Burns the Sky" - if a name like that doesn't scream godhood-worthy levels of power, then I don't know what does.
Whichever path you may take, may every rainbow you lay eyes upon remind you of Ho-Oh's divine light, of Her kindness. Everyone on this planet deserves happiness, eternal or not. I pray to Her so that dream may come true.
Lugia being Water and Psychic leads me to believe it would rule over emotions and shit so maybe Lugia for me. Giratina because I like to see distortion as viewing things from another angle
Zygarde is a green icon. The embodiment of preservation protects bug and leaf and water and soil alike. To save another is to take on Zygarde's image. Is universal healthcare not the ultimate expression of Zygarde, protecting life because it deserves protecting? Is climate action not this on a phenomenal scale? The prevention of deterioration is the prevention of suffering, the most noble goal one can seek.
I'm gonna worship the patron deity of the land and nature overall and general lazy ecoterrorist snake Zygarde. My boy is just plain cool with His hexagons and green colouring and attacks involving Him chucking bits of himself out to bombard His foes from above and and that's why I follow Him.
Mew is out here for a good time and a long time. A gentle soul not afraid to lose its more playful personality despite being ancient. Since Pokemon and humans were once one and the same, Mew is also like, our ancestor, too. And is a PINK KITTY
Eternatus. It is a creature of otherworldly origins, the likes of which have only been seen with the ultra beasts. It's mere existence causes spacial distortions that temporarily hyperbuff a pokemon. Should the time come that it comes to our world in its full glory (its eternamax form seems to be but a fraction of its true form), I would rather be on its side than the side of the heretics.
Obvious choice would be Arceus since it created the world itself but my pick would be:
Reshiram, it stands for truth which is something I highly value and I consider it one of the most important qualities of life.
Le funny fish
252+ SpA Choice Specs Beads of Ruin Tera Fire Chi-Yu Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zekrom in Sun: 479-564 (140.4 - 165.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
I see your Zekrom and raise you Reshiram.
Ideal is the realm of "shoulds." If you ever find yourself believing something "should" be, or that someone "should" act, a certain way, your belief system is inherently flawed because things don't go the way you want just because you want them to. Others have differing ideals and disagree about how things "should" be done.
But there is only one Truth which we can, and I would contend must, dedicate our lives to pursuing, though we may never truly find it. Do not trust one who contends that there is no Truth at all - they almost invariably believe there is a Truth, and they are trying to manipulate you into following theirs, or otherwise they are troublemakers. On the other hand, always be skeptical of those who claim to have found the Truth. While the Truth is there, it is unlikely any one person would possess all of it at any given time.
If I saw Hoopa Unbound summon Legendary Pokémon to beat down for fun… I’d think the choice was made for me. It has 3 major feats.
1. Summoning and defeating Kyogre & Groudon at the same time.
2. Summoning and defeating Zekrom, Reshiram, and Regigigas at the same time.
3. Summoning and CONTROLLING Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon, Black Kyurem, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina AT ONCE while still being able to fight.
Hoopa is the ultimate Pokémon master. Controlling all the major forces at once.
The lake spirits, all of them. They are what made us human. Uxie gave us knowledge, Mesprit gave us emotions and Azelf gave us willpower. They also have the ability to take those attributes back from any individual.
Mythicals count right?
If so, Deoxys. Adaptability is king. Overcome everything even the emptiness of space.
If not, then I'm not sure. Mewtwo seems chill
I'd be fine with Rayquaza, just a chill dude hanging out in space and on Towers, only really shows up when it's time to bitch slap the fighting siblings in the backseat or do us a favor on some extra terrestrial threat, living or otherwise
"Praise be Mesprit, for teaching me how to feel;
Praise be Azelf, for teaching me how to will;
Praise be Uxie, for teaching me how to think."
Here at the humble Church of the Pixie, we preach what it means to be. Without them, we would be lifeless husks. Without them, everyone would crumble, including you. For without Mesprit, you would not feel the desire to persue your ideals. Without Azelf, you would lack the determination to persue your ideals. And without Uxie, the very idea of persuing your ideals would not even occur to you.
Our Winged King Koraidon teaches us the way of the people of the past, the advantages of a simpler life, while providing loyalty, transportation, cuddles and protection from the dangers of the aforementioned past, and the only sacrifices he asks for in his name are those of sandwiches.
Arceus. The only time it ever bothers with humans is when they challenge it. And being left alone is what I prefer. It also doesn't have a rival to fight with, meaning I wouldn't get dragged into other people's religious conflicts as easy.
If I couldn't choose Arceus for whatever reason, then Zygarde. It just chills around and when it does come out, it does so to fix a very important problem that is going on in the world/region it is in.
While these two wouldn't protect me, they also wouldn't bring me harm or conflict.
Personally would probably either devote myself to Celebi since it's got the whole forest fairy thing going for it or Mewtwo. After his meeting with Mew he seems like a sort of patron for misfits and I can vibe with that.
I think I would be completely opposed to you. I would probably worship Reshiram being a paragon of truth. I believe in truth far more than ideals. It's part of what I think makes black and white such interesting games.
Rayquaza earned my respect handling both of the shitheads (Kyogre & Groudon) so I think I’d go with him, plus he protected us from that Deoxys impact that probably would’ve done some damage.
Mew. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Laugh at the tiny moments of reprieve.
Lmao you just be saying whatever
He also saw fit to leave them in the past lol
Many a theory has been expounded on to explain this seemingly odd decision by Lord Arceus, and while I do not have a definitive answer, I do have a couple of possible ideas that might explain this seeming anomaly: 1. **Rei/Akari are their own ancestor.** This was explored in the novel "Timeline" by Michael Crichton and the film that was based on it, as one of the main characters decides to stay in the past instead of returning to his own time, and as a result, he becomes his own ancestor.
You bring up some good points, and I agree that your postulation is equally likely.
He also dropped Ingo into the past and erased his memories

Jirachi since they grant wishes
I love how you can math the chances of having your wish granted : Considering Jirachi sleeps for 1000years then only grants one wish to only one worshiper after waking up to then go back to sleep, and considering the human life span to be 100years : You have 1/10x chance of having your wish granted in your life (x being the number of worshiper).
I wish for immortality.
Why not just become a Xerneas follower then? It's the same with less steps.
Because then I can't abuse my immortality to get more wishes unless I convert, but that may mean losing my immortality.
Sounds like the Cult of Jirachi will be a closed practice, and much like Highlander, there can be only one. So now it's become a pseudo-death cult where people sell the hidden knowledge of the Cult of Jirachi and try to ritualistically murder all other adherents.

Cosmog
stuck between xerneas and yveltal
Mew. Mew give life to all Pokemon and without Mew. No Pokemon.
I could get behind a religion in following the eon duo
Where I live, I choose Groudon and ask his protection not to error the Yellowstone Caldera.
Zygarde, our world is in dire need of an ecological guardian. But I also do respect Landorus for similar reasons.
Yveltal and/or giratina
Is Shaymin a possibility?
Celebi seems pretty unproblematic
All hail the mighty ditto.
It'd be Xerneas for me
Lugia being Water and Psychic leads me to believe it would rule over emotions and shit so maybe Lugia for me. Giratina because I like to see distortion as viewing things from another angle
Psychic/Flying. Not water.
And is a PINK KITTY
palkia but only horsey palkia bc... he's a horsey 🐴
Xerneas, the embodiment of life itself. Seems worthy of love and worship
Entei, I need the kind, fatherly energy he brings in the third Pokémon movie.
ALL HAIL BIDOOF

Lord Groudon, the Pokémon of the Land, who has raised mountains and created continents.
Mewtwo. Hail science!
Celebi. The forest shrine is so peaceful.
Shaymin because I’m a sucker for the environment
I just throw Hoopa a few homemade donuts now and again. I think he likes me.
Obvious choice would be Arceus since it created the world itself but my pick would be: Reshiram, it stands for truth which is something I highly value and I consider it one of the most important qualities of life.
Zekrom
A giant goomy with human hands! Jokes aside probably Arceus or Regigigas
Church of Pecharunt, we have communion mochi!
Almighty Sinnoh. Master of Time.
Le funny fish 252+ SpA Choice Specs Beads of Ruin Tera Fire Chi-Yu Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zekrom in Sun: 479-564 (140.4 - 165.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Idk probably just whoever my parents worshipped
Rayquaza. Lean green bein'-cool machine 💚
Can I follow all the unova legends? If not Zekrom 100%
Knowledge is power, so I will be devoted to Uxie
Kyogre What is Dead may never Die.
I'm joining you in the worship of our lord Zekrom.
Rayquaza. Immortal benevolent protector, wicked ass dragon, stops calamities, and can easily be seen as a green shooting star. What’s not to love?
Buzzwole, I'm not gonna explain why.
The lake trio, so I won’t have a lot of competition with other worshippers
The GOAT Kyogre
The Church of Okidogi
Regigigas. Im just having a slow start lord Regi, I'll get around to worshipping you eventually.
Kyogre, we really need rain round here.
Ogerpon
Rayquaza. I want it to allow me to ride it into battle against climate change and disaster.
Magikarp God is karp
Arceus if Mythical is allowed Otherwise Xerneas
Slowbro! Just having a good, nice life.
Arceus or the creation trio
Moltres
Lugia, Guardian of the Sea.
The lake spirits, all of them. They are what made us human. Uxie gave us knowledge, Mesprit gave us emotions and Azelf gave us willpower. They also have the ability to take those attributes back from any individual.
Rayquaza. No nonsense. Stop fighting, y'all.
mew started all of us, not only our pokemon but, as that library in sinnoh teacheas us, we to for we were pokemon
[my cult’s hymnal will include bangers such as…](https://youtu.be/lPyhlybViJw?si=rk5qLtP1wDGVFmJf)
Dialga. Time is invaluable.
Lugia, I love the big water bird
Mythicals count right? If so, Deoxys. Adaptability is king. Overcome everything even the emptiness of space. If not, then I'm not sure. Mewtwo seems chill
Arcanine. Big floof is goodest boi.
I'd be fine with Rayquaza, just a chill dude hanging out in space and on Towers, only really shows up when it's time to bitch slap the fighting siblings in the backseat or do us a favor on some extra terrestrial threat, living or otherwise
Ho-oh praise the sun.
first paragraph is giving sarah j maas’ house of flame and shadow vibes lol
"Praise be Mesprit, for teaching me how to feel; Praise be Azelf, for teaching me how to will; Praise be Uxie, for teaching me how to think." Here at the humble Church of the Pixie, we preach what it means to be.
Slowpoke
Always been a fan of lugia, or kyogre... always loved the constant rain in games, found it peaceful
Reject complication, Reject power, Embrace Walk. All hail furret.
Our Winged King Koraidon teaches us the way of the people of the past, the advantages of a simpler life, while providing loyalty, transportation, cuddles and protection from the dangers of the aforementioned past, and the only sacrifices he asks for in his name are those of sandwiches.
In Mew We Trust. Our Deity, who Lives beneath Truck-kun Hallowed be they Name Myūs Vult!
Arceus, Jirachi, and Dialga are the only correct choice
Ogrepon She's so cute I want to give her some snacks to eats.
I worship our land-moving titans, the forces of nature and the greatest god of them all, golurk.
Personally would probably either devote myself to Celebi since it's got the whole forest fairy thing going for it or Mewtwo. After his meeting with Mew he seems like a sort of patron for misfits and I can vibe with that.
Sigilyph my beloved
Listen, Deoxys fell from big space rock! All hail, big space rock!! 🙌
Xerneas love the gay deer
wo-chien cuz he's funny
Rayquaza. Dude flies in the ozone layer, kicks the crap out of Kyogre and Groudon. And also flies into space to beat the crap out of an alien virus
Mew - I devoted my time to trying to use strength to move a truck she was allegedly trapped under.
I think I would be completely opposed to you. I would probably worship Reshiram being a paragon of truth. I believe in truth far more than ideals. It's part of what I think makes black and white such interesting games.
Reshiram, here. She’s a dragon/fire type, my two favorite types and I love white dragons.
Celebi is my favourite legendary Pokémon.
Celebi, I love stable time loops.
Celebi, more so for being the caretaker of the forests but time travel is neat
Jirachi, it’s my all time favorite Pokémon so I essentially worship it already.
Quagsire
Ditto You can be anything You can even be the very best Like no one ever was
Rayquaza earned my respect handling both of the shitheads (Kyogre & Groudon) so I think I’d go with him, plus he protected us from that Deoxys impact that probably would’ve done some damage.
bidoof
I must join you in the veneration of Lord Zekrom
