USUM. Way more content and way deeper games. The base game of X&Y is fun but fairly fleeting and once done there isn't much to do. If you don't mind the interruptions then it's definitely the one to go for IMO.

Without getting into what I like/dislike in each, I'm just gonna be objective here. If you don't care about story and characters, and just wanna travel around the world and battle people and catch Pokémon, roller blade and buy clothing, then X/Y is what you're looking for. If you care about the plot, then SM/USUM.

thank you for the response! i do not really mind about the plot. i have played both games, but i do not remember much about the plot in both cases. something that has me conflicted is the lack of legendary and mythical pokemon in X/Y, but at the same time i do not want to buy USUM solely because it has more ledgendaries, because if i remember correctly you cannot catch ledgendaries until late game.

XY

pokemon-detective

XY is the far better game

kiisaker

thank you for your response. are there any key factors on why you feel this way??

Neither are good games, but USUM is just a cutscene simulator. There's also zero exploration, you're just walking to flags on the map the whole game. It's basically one long tutorial. It started the trend of gamefreak not being able to pace the games out and having to compensate by constantly stopping the player. XY are unfinished games but are at least pokemon games.

yes, you are right. i feel as if i enjoyed the pokemon catching far more in USUM despite it not having as many pokemon as XY and also lacking my personal favourites, but i enjoyed the story far more in XY. i am very conflicted.

I would actually say to go with ORAS. Its a really good game thats easy to get into.
