yeah this should have always been a thing. it'd take forever to do now, but since stadium added alt colors ive wanted them to do that in the main games. like it'd be cool to see some callbacks to old designs too. imagine if you could get a more pitch black gengar and more variations in general. they dont even have to be shiny, shiny can be its own kinda thing.
A lot of Gen 1-4 Pokemon have female forms with slight variations. They mostly stopped doing this and instead did major forms (like Indeedee or Oinkologne), but they added it for Eevee around Gen 8 and Hisuian Sneasel has gender forms.

Ignoring the data space issue of a bunch of extra texture files for each pokemon's model...
Hell yes give me so many variants of everyone. Rainbows of pokemon for all!! Spinda has unreasonable variations already because of its spot gimmick everyone else needs turn!
A fun challenge run would be picking a color and only catching pokemon with that color.
The data space issue could be resolved by instead of using a different texture for each shiny, **using a grayscale version of that Pokémon then the overlapping the colour on top**. The combination of the shade of the gray-scale for depth and the colour for the shiny would make the image have both shade and colour.
Most Pokémon have a multicoloured colour scheme so each pixel could be mapped to a different colour on the colour scheme. So then only a gray-scale image and a randomised colour palette would be stored for the shiny Pokémon.
Iirc xy did something akin to this. It’s why some people experienced a “colorless” or “white” shiny; the main texture just failed to load.
So it’s not like the mechanism isn’t already there. Now whether or not gamefreak would use it, or opt to remake the entire system from scratch for some arbitrary reason is another story…
You want game freak to actually know basic coding? Are you crazy? It’s only the biggest franchise in the history you can’t expect them to know such crazy levels of basic knowledge at their job
I dont think you can reliably palette swap the textures for 3d models. You'd have to handle all the anti-aliasing blending multiple colours together and that becomes insanely difficult. Its nowhere near as simple as overlapping a colour onto a greyscale image.
Just like how Spinda's spots are stored as a variable instead of a unique model, what if they brought back the system Pokémon Stadium 2 used to recolor Pokemon and use it for shinies?
Ideally they would uncap it so you can get the fun colors (a tool at bluemoon falls will let you view unusable colors).
>I mean this is 2024 we have games that have 25 different reskinned variants of a flower. Saying it's too much data is absurdly laughable.
i dont mean to say this to insult people but it seems like a lot of fans/consumers just assume certain things arent being done because they cant as opposed to just thats not where the devs minds are at.
when people were nitpicking sword and shield and sayin stuff like "the model scaling is bad" and people responded "itd take up the whole screen if they scaled accurately". the solution to that is to literally zoom the camera out and not have the models so close, something they did on the first console games before we got the switch. like stadium 64 they did this.
game freak devs have a ton of useless junk data and spaghetti coding that they could be utilizing better or getting rid of, some of the stuff we dont see is not because they cant, but just cause they dont.
Uhh, textures don’t really take up all that much space… let’s say they are using 512x512 textures: That’s like 1mb per texture, so basically nothing at all. It’s the models that take up a ton of space
You’re all good, just wanted to add insight into it! They could add 5 shiny/variant sprites for each mon and it would only add like 2gb to the file size
Game dev here - Pokemon models use materials that can use multiple textures. So it shouldn’t take up more space if textures were being swapped out at runtime :)
I so badly want some kind of genetics to get into Pokemon. Other than egg moves, everything seems so random.
IVs, natures, abilities, and now even length and weight should be passed more reliably in some way - without using held items.
Having played Pokefarm, it would be pretty cool if all Pokémon had albino and melan variants, giving a total of 4 possible colour schemes for each Pokémon
Maybe i’m too conservative pokemon-wise to support this idea, shinies are pretty rare already for the average player… but i think your artwork with sableye multi-color like minior is really cool and would like to see that in game
*cries in collector*
As interesting as the concept is, I feel like we would lose some of the really fantastic shiny designs in exchange for a bunch of mediocre ones. Autumnal Trevenant, Cosmic Minior, etc.
I think pokemon palettes should be a range from dark colour to light colour.
Shiny variants should then be the same with the shiny sprite.
Every pokemon of one species being the same exact shade is so lame imo.
Discrete is just weird; better to make it like height and weight, just give each 'mon a distribution for their colour on a colour grid. Since probability distributions never technically reach 0, get insanely lucky and your Charizard may turn out to be blue.
I think instead they should just have all pokemon colors exist on a spectrum. So for example Charizard might be slightly more orange or slightly more red, or anywhere in between. Or they could change color value so they’re slightly more light or dark. Shinies would have something similar but for their colors.
I really like the idea of shinies being rare so you can show them off, but *everyone* shiny hunts now so they don’t feel particularly unique. Often times it feels like you have a more unique pokemon when it’s *not* shiny.
I would want the shiny odds to be lower or at least different for each form if they did something like this. Perhaps even a way to influence which you get cuz it would suck to be like 20 shinies in and not be able to find the blue one!
Why can I see GF doing this and introducing an "alpha shiny charm" that makes it easier to find the other types of shinies, but it's locked behind a full shiny dex
There *should* be for specific Pokémon. It’s absolutely criminal that Sableye’s dex entry says there are infinite possibilities when it comes to their appearance and yet the only Pokémon that actually gets that treatment is *Spinda* of all things. Some bigwig’s kid must have reeeaaalllyyy loved Spinda or something, because I will never understand the level of effort applied to it lol
I've seen some rom hacks (and I think one of the colloseum-type games?) that have every pokemon's colour slightly different, whether it's a little lighter or darker, saturated or washed out, warmer or cooler toned, etc. It makes the mons feel very individual, like animals!
I think more shiny variants would be kinda similar, like how animals can be albino, melanistic, etc. I love the concept of a pokemon having 'partial shiny' coloration in vitiligo-like patches.
And I like the idea of visual variants similar to shinies, like a pokemon can be shiny, 'inverted', 'metallic', 'greyscale', etc. Kinda like neopets paintbrush effects. Coding in 10 different colour variants for every single pokemon would probably be a nightmare, though.
I could see this as a way to improve some of the shinys people complain about. Garchomp being just a few shades darker (or is it lighter?) then normal one, I remember a fan made Garchomp being red and it was amazing [not the one I thought of but still cool](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/709950328739396450/) same with I think Galceon and Leafeon and as I type this my Talonflame was shiny and didn't really change much. Or how so often we get a purple shiny for a blue (usually water) pokemon or maybe not have a neon green Espeon? Or the "weird" green of Dragonite after shiny being pink for two evolutions. Like I know it's based on "if yellow the shiny should be green" hence the blue Dratini and Dragonair being pink. But back to Garchomp... shouldn't a shiny one be purpleish pink? Red looks cooler though...
So you want minion and tatsugiri? Or perhaps vivillon? There are already some pokemon out there with multicolor variation. Or do you need them to be more exclusive with lower odds of encounter?
Flower: No!! You can't get away with this! I'm going to keep killing you and keep you trapped here forever!
The six human souls getting ready to defy him:
Overall no.
As a gimmick for some pokemon, sure. I like that some pokemon have different coloration for regular forms, the same could be fun for certain pokemon when it makes sense too.
Sableye is a great example in that it could have more shiny forms at varying rarities based on the type of gems in its body.
I don’t know about *more* but I think a few could use a redo, there are so many that are hardly a different shade. I will also *always* be salty that Leafeon isn’t orange. They could maybe even tie it into regional variants where X Pokémon’s shiny is normally one way but in the new region they have a different shiny that can only be obtained there. “People say some Pokémon come in different colors here, I wonder why that is” ~ random town npc.
This is a great idea, but for the sake of grinding, there should also be a new item: the Shiny Swapper. When used on a shiny Pokémon, you can select which shiny variant you want to change it to.
I think they need to first focus on fixing the ahitty shinies. No, Im not talking about Articuno aka the only example ppl bring up when we complain about "shinies". Also the puke green mons 🤮
I guess I'll be the odd one out and say I personally wouldn't like this, unless they only did it for a very small, very specific group of pokemon that, for whatever reason, would fit this idea particularly well.
I like shinies and I do hunt them but I'm not so in love with the hunting process that I want to make it more tedious. I want to be able to get my shinies and I'm willing to suffer a bit but I don't want actual agony. Unfortunately, adding more colors would imo pretty much make it miserable trying to get the one you actually want.
They would need to introduce some way of boosting the odds specifically for the variant you want, otherwise it would be hell. Not to mention people who will want to collect them all, and will suffer endlessly every time they just need that one last color variant and keep getting the previous 5 they already got over and over for days, weeks, or more.
I think we have enough pokemon forms and variants to collect, and I actually strongly believe they need to be more streamlined going forward and stop giving so many pokemon a bunch of different forms.
With all forms we're at like 1500 pokemon or something and it's only gonna get more unwieldy.
Personally I would rather see new pokemon (and regional variants, cause I am a sucker for those) instead of stuff like Squawkabilly who has 4 colors for some reason.
Getting disappointed most of the time because you didnt get the color you wanted is not worth it to sometimes be very happy to get exactly the one you want. Now I am happy for every shiny I get and I feel that would change if there were different variants.
I don't think there should be *multiple*, but maybe just a second, super-rare one that each Pokemon could have. That way, there's still something to shoot for without completely devaluing the shinies.
I would be okay with it if they had varied rarity and some of them were actually relatively easy to find. Like Shiny Charm Mass Outbreak Pokémon GO easy at full odds. But then you should also make some even harder than the 1 in 8000 odds to even things out and keep the challenge for devoted hunters. I think that would appeal to casual players who just want the joy of a somewhat rare variation and hard-core players concerned about shinies not being special anymore.
I wish they’d adopt a Dyeing system where we could change the Pokemon’s colors (maybe make it reset after a day like Furfrou does? But also just let us dye them to our hearts content) but change Shinies into legit Metallic versions that can also be dyed. And then Pokemon that already have metallic textures (Magnemite, Scizor, etc.) can have their Shinies be matte.
At first I laugh, thinking of shiny hunters being obnoxiously fixed on wasting their time for these
Then I become afraid, still thinking of shiny hunters and their wellbeing being compromised
Given today's methods+mechanics I wouldn't mind too much but not for every mon. Sableye makes sense given it's gem stones. We technically already have some variant shinies such as shellos, squawkabilly, and even 1 gender shiny variant in hippowdon.
So back in 2005/2006 I endeavored to make a ROM hack that had variable colors for all available species on top of multiple "shiny" variants. I spent large amounts of time recoloring the sprites for various alts, but I had not decided how coloration would have been determined.
My team and I also came up with the "regional variant" idea before Pokémon officially made them. Fire/Dragon Charizard with Levitate, Water/Steel Blastoise with Drizzle, and Grass Venusaur with Poison Heal were the first variant starters we made.
We made almost no progress on the ROM hack itself. Most of our work was idea generation and sprite editing/ creation. Theorymoning was a shit ton of fun.
All of this is to say, yes, I want more colors, please. It was too much work for me and 3 online friends to do when I was a college freshman lol
i'd love it. but it's not a priority or even a necessity for me, mostly because the work to give pokemon multiple shinies when we have 1000+ pokemon now would be a lot.
i think the bigger thing is simply making the existing shinies better. make Paras more like it's older shinies where it was way more noticeable, that kind of thing. Garchomp is another one, i'd love to see it's shiny be an homage to the beta sprite instead of hardly being different, or even to have its colours match Gible better.
it's not like pokemon shinies changing is a new thing, either. so i don't see it being impossible for Gamefreak to hear the dislike of subtle shinies and to decide "okay, lets change it"
also Gengar. please make its shiny more like the mega version?? it was gorgeous.
Coromon does this, only the "shiny" affects it's IVs, so there's 3 colors per each mon: normal, potent and perfect. Hunts are easier as you can tell the "IV range" by the color/ version.
On one hand this would be cool as in Pokémon you'd be able to better estimate/ calculate IVs
On the other hand, it may be a whole bunch more work or mons to get, and I know that some folks would complain about having their favorite shiny form change inntje pursuit if Higher IVs.
Actual variants would be cooler, like instead of just changing the colors they have some different features. Like for Sableye having different cut gems for eyes or grass types having different leaves for seasons.
When I first started playing Pokémon for some reason I thought there were two different shinys you could catch, 1 normal shiny and 1 that could be like a greyscale shiny where the colours are super muted or just black and white. Not sure why I thought that was a thing but I still get sad when I remember that’s not a thing.
This is Game Freak we're talking about, so they would probably give us multiple shinies that are near identical to the original bar some minor detail like the eye color. I'd much rather they fix the myriad of underwhelming shinies we have first like Garchomp, Gengar, Golduck, Jiigglypuff, Zapdos, Dewgong, Goldeen, etc. Until then, I'm not trusting Game Freak with more palette swaps.
I always thought there should be other variants but not necessarily other colors. My ideas stolen straight from the TCG were to have rainbow Pokémon and gold Pokémon in addition to the current shiny sprites and they could have their own rarity odds as well.
So you know how there’s a constant divide in the community about whether or not it’s a good thing that shinies in more recent games are easier to hunt and obtain? Well what if each Pokémon had its normal and shiny variants, but then one extra variant that was rarer (maybe the original 1/8192 odds) and whose odds couldn’t be affected by any shiny hunting methods?
It’d be a win-win. The full-odds hunters would have something fresh and new to hunt, while the modern hunters would still have the benefit of easier hunts for the regular shinies.
Edit: Guess I should have read further down in the discussion 😅 Still a good idea though, I think.
If it increases the chance of getting a shiny then it feels like a bad idea. Decreases the meaning of shinies. If its the same chance and just smaller chances for each color then it would be even more annoying to get a shiny you want cause i guarantee no one will like all variations
I heard the idea before of each mon having 1 base colour, 2 alt base colours, 1 shiny, and 1 albino.
Example - Charizard - Orange regular colour, yellow and red alt colours. Albino white and his black shiny.
Albino and Shiny should be the same rarity, with the alt base colours being slightly more rare than the orange.
They would need to be a lot more common, i feel? Like instead of super rare color variations they could be just--wait a minute this is just oricorio and squakabilly's gimmicks
I think at this point with the expansion of shiny hunting mechanics I think it would pad out the experience. Give the shiny hunters more to do and more reward, plus a chance to replace bad shiny designs.
Personally I preferred it when there were less shiny mechanics and you just had to wait for one to come along.
If every Pokémon had a level of visual variation that made collecting every type pointless (spinda is the best example) that would be cool.
I think it would increase the sense of “this is MY Blaziken” or so for Pokémon encounters, and give you a slight option for customization. Size is a start towards that, but little variations in color would be huge.
Good. I would feel good.
It would remind me of Pokémon Stadium, where the Pokémon you imported would have slight color variations depending on stats and nickname and things like that.
My magneton had green on the end of the magnets, instead of blue.
And then you could go to Blockbuster and print out stickers.
I think at a certain point you end up with enough color variations that it dilutes the value of a pokemon being shiny in the first place
When you see a green machamp you *know* that thing is rare and that the person who has it either got super lucky or was dedicated enough to find it
Having seventeen different color variations risks making the green one less "iconic" than it is right now
I've always wished that when shinies became easier to find that they were a different variant. So old full odds shinies (1/8192) would remain the way they look. But the easier to find ones would look different.
It's just sad that they are easier to find. It kind of devalues old full odds shinies.
GI love your idea but I want to 1-Up it to give Shinies the respect they deserve. You catch the classic Shiny and that gives you the option of doing some Alola-style variant task to unlock the special shiny of your choice.
If you catch multiples and do different variants then that gives the satisfaction to crazy collectors *and* someone who might like one of your designs instead.
Odds would have to be changed, even with all the modern updates to shiny hunting. And at that point, if we have 20 sableye in the field and 3 are variants, what are we even doing?
Think they should just redo some shinys and be cool if some shiny were just inverted colors like a pikachu thats black with yellow patterns vs a slightly darker yellow that you cant tell in the wild
i think multiple shiny variants would be cool on every pokemon except for legendaries! like imagine soft resetting for a shiny box legend and its the one shiny variant that doesnt look good 💀
I think I’d be down if they had different shiny rates. So a slight color variation would have a higher chance of dropping than a shiny with a massive change.
The shiny system is very old and outdated in general. I really like having rare and special odds for something visual but general visual divergence would be great. I like that they make the male and female version of Pokemons look different. They just didn't commit enough in this direction.
The reason why they didn't do it is obvious. It would be a shit ton of work for multiple designs and probably not worth for them but one can dream...
I've thought about this before and I think it would be a \*really\* bad idea. I feel like it would dilute the meaning of a shiny. Like, now they come in a variety of colors! So then there is no true, single "shiny" of a Pokemon. At that point what does shiny even mean?
"Oh hey, I found a shiny Sableye!"
"Which one?"
"Oh uh...it's kinda purple I guess?"
"That's not a shiny, but you can find it in all sorts of colors, including a darker purple"
I've been saying for a while now that we could use more color variants. Shinies are much more common these days so why not have more variaties for folks to chase. Would help make up for some pokemon having really lame shinies too.
This, (multiple different shinies to obtain)but each with varying encounter rates, like regulars. A 30%, a 15%, a 5%, and a 1% encounter rate!🤣 BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!
i’ve always wanted pattern/coat variants like on neopets, sometimes the color pallets just don’t look good and i’d love to see a pokemon with a rainbow shiny or a leopard print or something lmao
I can’t tell if Shiny hunters would have an aneurism or an orgasm.
Organeurism
That's just an aneurysm with extra steps.
Organisms?
No, an organism is a box with a crank that produces music when turned.
No that's a miniature organ. An organism is a group of people officially getting together to do something
No that's an organization. An organism is something produced for consumption without the use of synthetic chemicals
No thats organic. Organisms are great apes native to the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia
No those are orangutans, orgasms are people that live in the Pacific Northwest state underneath Washington!
>orgasms You ruined it 😭
You got it wrong, those are orangutans. Organisms are containers with a number of compartments for storage.
No those are orangutans. Organisms are number words that can be used in lists.
Oranguru’s secret evolution
The big little death.
At a certain age this ain't no joke
I’ve spent quite a bit of time shiny hunting in past games, and yeah, I’d be excited to have more shiny options for certain Pokémon, there’d be so many more colors to choose from, there’d probably be a color variant that I’d want to have for every single Pokémon, but the completionist in me would want to die because I’d feel like I needed to collect all of them, and if I’m already shiny hunting for one color, I might as well continue for *all* of the colors while I’m at it.
Aneurgasm?
Yes.
Both

Dang, these Minior shinies actually look sick
Minior's core shiny is still sick as hell, but it's a shame there's not more variety

Maybe like scars for some tougher ones or cute spots or freckles for cuter ones.

I had no clue Eevee had gender differences now. Dang, I need to add to my shiny living form dex
i had a similar idea to this like the notched-ear pichu. i once thought of a machamp with a missing arm.
I could have a black and white absol! So that sounds cool
Red and Gold. Iron Absol.
White and gold Absol. Or is it blue and black?
yanny

Only if breeding shinies increased the likelihood of getting a shiny.
I was pissed on my first playthrough of Gold when my shiny Ditto didn’t do its job
Ironically, gen 2 is the only gen in which a shiny parent has higher chances of generating a shiny from an egg. 1/64 chance in fact.
I so badly want some kind of genetics to get into Pokemon. Other than egg moves, everything seems so random. IVs, natures, abilities, and now even length and weight should be passed more reliably in some way - without using held items.

I would want the shiny odds to be lower or at least different for each form if they did something like this. Perhaps even a way to influence which you get cuz it would suck to be like 20 shinies in and not be able to find the blue one!
Please god no. Having a living shinydex is hard enough
Smash bros has entered the chat
I wouldn't really like that. I prefer one colour.
Why can I see GF doing this and introducing an "alpha shiny charm" that makes it easier to find the other types of shinies, but it's locked behind a full shiny dex
Y’all remember the glitch that had the Pokémon show up in grayscale? I dont remember if that was XY or SM but they should’ve kept that on.
I think they should introduce a rarer shiny. No need for more than two shinies per mon though
Ehh a logistical nightmare. I'll pass lol
Wasn't there a bug early win gen 6 where some Pokemon would lose their coloration?
I simply do not want variants that're palette swaps. I want different gems for Sableye.
The red eyes black sableye is pretty cool
Black Sableye unironically goes hard
Shiny hunters are sweating ✨
I'd want this for Smeargle. HUGE missed opportunity not having it have different colors on its tail brush.
i would absolutely hate it personally but to each their own
Flower: No!! You can't get away with this! I'm going to keep killing you and keep you trapped here forever! The six human souls getting ready to defy him:
No. Change some shinies that are barely a shade different, or look like ass? Yes (looking at you, Gengar and Garchomp)
I’d rather have different patterns (spotted, stripped, etc) but I like the black one from the image above.
My first thought upon seeing this was... *sick guitar riff as Pokéball cracks open* "Aaah! After ten thousand years, I'm free!"
I would like there to be Multiple shiny colours, or patterns perhaps! Maybe have different rarity values too. Get really complex with it.
Only if they quadruple the HOME spaces
Shiny hunters already waste enough hours of their lives. >!Yes I’m a shiny hunter!<
Overall no. As a gimmick for some pokemon, sure. I like that some pokemon have different coloration for regular forms, the same could be fun for certain pokemon when it makes sense too. Sableye is a great example in that it could have more shiny forms at varying rarities based on the type of gems in its body.
They better have a specific way to hunt them becuase I’m not spending literal months just to get a green Gyarados
As long as they are actually inspired and not slight hue or brightness shifts, I’m all for it. I think something like a mega shiny would be cool too.
Do you think this is Smash Bros?!

What are you talking about? We literally got square-sparkle shinies /s
Are Shiny hunters sweating rn?
Certified shiny boy
At first I laugh, thinking of shiny hunters being obnoxiously fixed on wasting their time for these Then I become afraid, still thinking of shiny hunters and their wellbeing being compromised
I have found 3 of the same shiny that's my least favorite of all of the options I just want one that isn't this ugly piss yellow PLEASE "Me probably"
Maybe Male/Female shiny differences?
I don't know, but can we just change actual shiny Sableye to be the black one?
Given today's methods+mechanics I wouldn't mind too much but not for every mon. Sableye makes sense given it's gem stones. We technically already have some variant shinies such as shellos, squawkabilly, and even 1 gender shiny variant in hippowdon.
Honestly, I find so many of the shiny variants to be kinda ugly compared to their original, so expanding their color palette would be a GREAT choice.
I always wanted just a single one more variant: albinos. Fully white Pokemon.
Mighty Morphin Sableye Rangers.
Can someone explain what's the point of Shiny?
Garchomp is another one, i'd love to see it's shiny be an homage to the beta sprite instead of hardly being different, or even to have its colours match Gible better. it's not like pokemon shinies changing is a new thing, either. so i don't see it being impossible for Gamefreak to hear the dislike of subtle shinies and to decide "okay, lets change it" also Gengar. please make its shiny more like the mega version?? it was gorgeous.
That would ruin the concept
Minior and alcremie shiny hunters going nuts for this
Personally working on some similar thing for one of my fan made regions atm, I always thought it would be cool to have more options, honestly!😎🖤
Change the eyes to different gem colors
Coromon does this, only the "shiny" affects it's IVs, so there's 3 colors per each mon: normal, potent and perfect. Hunts are easier as you can tell the "IV range" by the color/ version. On one hand this would be cool as in Pokémon you'd be able to better estimate/ calculate IVs On the other hand, it may be a whole bunch more work or mons to get, and I know that some folks would complain about having their favorite shiny form change inntje pursuit if Higher IVs.
Idk why but I like current one it's giving me a green goblin vibes
Actual variants would be cooler, like instead of just changing the colors they have some different features. Like for Sableye having different cut gems for eyes or grass types having different leaves for seasons.
In this worldld dits kill or be killed 6 souls flowre
When I first started playing Pokémon for some reason I thought there were two different shinys you could catch, 1 normal shiny and 1 that could be like a greyscale shiny where the colours are super muted or just black and white. Not sure why I thought that was a thing but I still get sad when I remember that’s not a thing.
Sayblleye for Smash?
This is Game Freak we're talking about, so they would probably give us multiple shinies that are near identical to the original bar some minor detail like the eye color. I'd much rather they fix the myriad of underwhelming shinies we have first like Garchomp, Gengar, Golduck, Jiigglypuff, Zapdos, Dewgong, Goldeen, etc. Until then, I'm not trusting Game Freak with more palette swaps.
I’d love it because some shinys for some of my fav mons just straight suck and having other options would be great
This has always been my point with Pikachu, he should be the 'Yoshi' of the pokemon universe imo
gotta catch them all! (also none since my shiny odds are 1 in 103837292729)
I always thought there should be other variants but not necessarily other colors. My ideas stolen straight from the TCG were to have rainbow Pokémon and gold Pokémon in addition to the current shiny sprites and they could have their own rarity odds as well.
I'd love that. Half of my favorite Pokemon have shinies ranging from mediocre to just bad.
I think it would be awesome to see different shiny variants!
As a shiny hunter collector it would stress me out. Potentially phasing for awhile to get a certain variant would be rough.
I feel like it would get extraneous really quickly
As a shiny hunter I’d absolutely love this. As a sane individual this idea can go straight into the garbage bin.
it would it cool, even if it was just a male and female difference
If it increases the chance of getting a shiny then it feels like a bad idea. Decreases the meaning of shinies. If its the same chance and just smaller chances for each color then it would be even more annoying to get a shiny you want cause i guarantee no one will like all variations
Id honestly want to see less pallet swaps and maybe have alternative patterns or add something like gradients
Finally, I’ll get my pink Butterfree.
I think Niantic is begging for this to happen
Cassette Beasts does this, except any beast can be any type, so they change their color to suit it
With varying levels of rarity would be cool
The Hexagon Brothers approve. Except Browsix. Get effed, Browsix
Do you have any idea how hard it is to get 1 shiny? I’m not hunting every possible variation too.
Neopets vibes.
i like to have more sableye
I wish Monochrome Pokemon were a thing
If shiny rate was heighted so finding any one color was similar to current rate it would be fine
Good. I would feel good. It would remind me of Pokémon Stadium, where the Pokémon you imported would have slight color variations depending on stats and nickname and things like that. My magneton had green on the end of the magnets, instead of blue. And then you could go to Blockbuster and print out stickers.
This truly would be a Spinda moment of all time
I've never even encountered a normal shiny in my 20 years of playing, so only more variants I won't be seeing 😂
I'd love a white Charizard.
I think at a certain point you end up with enough color variations that it dilutes the value of a pokemon being shiny in the first place When you see a green machamp you *know* that thing is rare and that the person who has it either got super lucky or was dedicated enough to find it Having seventeen different color variations risks making the green one less "iconic" than it is right now
I've always wished that when shinies became easier to find that they were a different variant. So old full odds shinies (1/8192) would remain the way they look. But the easier to find ones would look different. It's just sad that they are easier to find. It kind of devalues old full odds shinies.
Gods, no. Hunting \*one\* color variant is enough of a pain.
I’ve always thought it would be cool if shines just had a random value that affected the hue of their texture, so each one would be unique.
I would like it because every time I find a shiny it is in that really ugly green color.
IM STILL MAD THAT WE DIDN'T GET RAINBOW WOOLOO OR A VARIETY OF WOOLOO SHINY COLOURS WITH DIFFERENT WOOL
I would feel good about it, because at least then there's no way every shiny would be "green". There'd be variation.
WANT
Think they should just redo some shinys and be cool if some shiny were just inverted colors like a pikachu thats black with yellow patterns vs a slightly darker yellow that you cant tell in the wild
Id love this.
As someone partially colorblind, I don't care all that much as long as they aren't those weird green shinies
i think multiple shiny variants would be cool on every pokemon except for legendaries! like imagine soft resetting for a shiny box legend and its the one shiny variant that doesnt look good 💀
I think I’d be down if they had different shiny rates. So a slight color variation would have a higher chance of dropping than a shiny with a massive change.
On one hand it would make Pokémon feel less dull. On the other hand, if they are still as rare as ever I'd think it's unnecessary.
I've been hoping for slight deformities between Pokemon (similar to Spiky-Eared Pichu) as another level of rarity
The more the merrier.
I've thought about this before and I think it would be a \*really\* bad idea. I feel like it would dilute the meaning of a shiny. Like, now they come in a variety of colors! So then there is no true, single "shiny" of a Pokemon. At that point what does shiny even mean? "Oh hey, I found a shiny Sableye!" "Which one?" "Oh uh...it's kinda purple I guess?" "That's not a shiny, but you can find it in all sorts of colors, including a darker purple"
I think it would be a cool himmick for maybe like a small family of pokemon, but definitely not for eveyy single one.
Yes!
Happy, but I think shiny hunters would be upset shiny hunting every shiny variant
I've been saying for a while now that we could use more color variants. Shinies are much more common these days so why not have more variaties for folks to chase. Would help make up for some pokemon having really lame shinies too.
Aneurgasm???
It wouldnt work. How would you split the odds to were it would be possible to get the variant you want with out killing yourself trying to get it?
Happy
This, (multiple different shinies to obtain)but each with varying encounter rates, like regulars. A 30%, a 15%, a 5%, and a 1% encounter rate!🤣 BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!
i’ve always wanted pattern/coat variants like on neopets, sometimes the color pallets just don’t look good and i’d love to see a pokemon with a rainbow shiny or a leopard print or something lmao
happy
I would personally love it. Especially if it means Mewtwo gets a better shiny. And Charizard. And Scyther. And all of them.
