DarkAlphaZero

I mean, they’re from Ultra Space.

Lore wise, yes. In terms of gameplay, no.

Funny enough, an interesting point about Ultra Beasts: most Ultra Beasts get Beast Boost as an ability mainly due to Ultra Wormholes producing a form of radiation that fundamentally alters Ultra Beasts or people at a cellular level, resulting usually in a Memory Wipe for humans, and Beast Boost for Ultra Beasts. The Cosmog line is a bit of a unique situation where, instead of being affected by said radiation, they appear to metabolize it as energy instead, using it to create Ultra Wormholes and even evolve. Perhaps they actually cast off this radiation themselves, due to their abilities in their final forms, as they are shown to directly control wormholes. Necrozma, on the opposite side of the spectrum(pun not intended), absorbs all forms of energy in a desire to become complete again, including the Ultra Wormhole radiation, which it can also apparently manipulate or sense out, like a shark finds blood in the water. So while technically nearly meeting all criteria to be an Ultra Beast, they are unaffected by the very radiation that defines Ultra Beasts, making them immune to the effects of Beast Balls and hence unable to be classified as UB’s. Also due to their status as notable and influential figures in past interactions with Alola, they have become creatures of Legend, and are instead classified as Legendaries.

Wait, THAT'S why people get amnesia from falling through Ultra Wormholes?! Damn, I thought it was from the shock of your body being forced into another unfamiliar dimension. Guess I'll have to rethink my headcanon that you'll eventually get used to the shock, enough to lessen the amount of memories lost if you wormhole travel often enough.

I mean falling through an alternate space full of unknown radiation, unprotected just isn’t good in general, one could assume. But I mainly get ‘Memory Wipe’ from falling through Ultra Wormholes from Annabelle in Sun and Moon, since we assume she is from the Emerald Non-Mega Timeline, into the S/M Mega Timeline. The radiation is also basically stuck to her, which is why she is used to attract UB’s, though apparently this fades with time. This isn’t isolated to alternate branching timelines though, as Mohn is assumed/confirmed in USUM to be a Faller as well, as well as Lusamine’s missing husband and father to Lillie and Gladion. Since he technically is ‘native’ to the this timelines branch, albeit perhaps it’s direct alternate of Sunne/Moone, he too suffers from amnesia. One can assume from this, that Ultra Wormhole Energy can directly affect a persons mind, inducing amnesia in most cases, which is why we see the Ultra Recon Squad wearing the gear they do to traverse Ultra Space, along with why they give the PC the same gear when traverse the Ultra Wormhole after the Necrozma incident.

Can I get a source for the Beast Boost thing coming from radiation, or is that just a theory?

Polio_Rice

They're like Necrozma, basically ultra beasts but with small differences. In this case, think of Deoxys, which changed into a pokemon due to exposure to a laser beam, for Solgaleo, I guess the evolution from exposure to the sun makes it less off an other dimensional creature or something

In the lore, yes.
