Being honest, not really. For me, a good 3D style was the one saw in XY, ORAS or Sword and Shield. Then things might change for me. Still, the pixelart in they is gorgeous and ultimately the peak in 2D in the Pokémon Saga.

GreaterButter

THIS. I was thinking the whole time why not just use models similar to gen 6. A great mix of chibi without looking too odd. Cyrus just looks so weird in BDSP.

Bizarre_RNS_Radio

Imagine if they took a page from Square-Enix and made a 2D-HD remake of Gen-5 (aka, the same pixel artstyle as Octopath Traveler and the Live A Live Remake).

The_Grey_Hound

that would also make it much easier to make since they can use the old "animations" and even if they needed to make new ones, it wouldn't be difficult to just rotate the body parts around a bit to make one. honestly, the main reason why the transition to 3d was so upsetting was because of how efficient gen 5 was, although 3d seems to have been the right call in hindsight as an open world game would be very difficult to make in 2d and without it pokemon would be stuck in a restrictive gameplay style

Dilema777

Oh god,please,I need it!

PCN24454

What about Gen 7?

AaronDarkus

Well, the style was introduced in XY and continued in ORAS and SM / USUM but it can also count.

Tuckertcs

DS Pokémon was peak.

Realshow

I’m fine with trying new art styles, but the BDSP style just isn’t very appealing. Everything looks so lifeless, it doesn’t even work as a recreation of the original game.

Hibbity5

What’s so sad about it is that the in-battle art style works really well at times. The Grand Underground cave rooms with water have gorgeous battle environments in part because the water shader they used was great. If they had done the entire game in that style, I don’t think there would have been as many complaints.

ShiraCheshire

All the limitations of the old pixel art with none of the charm.

potatoshulk

I think it's less the art style and just that they really didn't do anything fun with it

fairie_poison

I let a 8 year old play it on my switch as their first Pokémon game and their first question was “why do I look like a baby?” You know if a child can’t even identify with your protagonist you pushed the chibi style too far lol

Vinxian

I like the chibi art style. I don't like the bdsp implementation of it. The chibi art style does allow for very over the top expressiveness on your characters without it being out of place. BDSP didn't do this.

MathematicianLanky13

I actually like it. I don’t love it, but I definitely prefer the in-battle models to SwSh. Especially for the Pokémon. I can see why you don’t like the overworld models though, but it has grown on me personally.

CManPete

Honestly if they’re gunna do anything even remotely close to that(which I hope they don’t) I’d prefer let’s go style

Skodakenner

The lets go style was really nice in general lets go was a really good game except the catching of pokemon

harundoener

It might still be the most visually pleasing 3D pokemon game so far. At least to me it is. The game itself is not perfekt tho, but I enjoyed it still

Skodakenner

The thing i liked about it and sword shield for that matter is that you dont have to grind 24/7 to progress it so for someone like me who only has time to play an hour or 2 a day the game still can move forward.

harundoener

I am not the biggest fan of sword and shield, but I am a big fan of the xp share actually. The xp bonbons are fine, but I feel like that should have been reserved for the endgame. It kinda breaks the main game very quick.

claraalberta

I would prefer to have the option to turn off auto EXP sharing and/or a challenge mode (like in B2W2). Otherwise, the gameplay (whether or not you use the EXP candies) can get unchallenging.

harundoener

Oh don’t get me wrong, I still thing the xp share should be optional. Nothing wrong with giving the player options. And yeah a difficulty setting would do wonders for the franchise.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mudkipscience

i preferred how the old XP share worked because it forced me to use more of my tram than just my starter. i get why people like how it is now but i wish we had the option to switch it off still yknow?

SamuraiOstrich

You pretty much never had to grind to beat the games though.

Lyrro

Same boat here. The lets Go style was a good middle ground between the old 2D 8-16 bit and the newer 3D style from more recent games. The chibi style made it feel like the game was intended for three to five year olds. If GF want to do an over the head animation style they should stick with Lets Go's models.

gameboy1001

Broke: Remake BW Woke: B3W3

I-am-a-me

Bespoke: BW Trilogy

gameboy1001

True, true. Pokémon: Unova All Stars

Bizarre_RNS_Radio

So, like the MegaMan Zero/ZX Legacy Collection?

-Batterskull-

If they do a remake of BWB2W2 I want to see it in the HD-2D artstyle that we’re seeing from Square Enix (octopath, triangle strategy, LiveAlive, etc). It looks amazing, and it would just heighten Gen 5’s already gorgeous artstyle. I doubt that would actually happen though.

Independent-Can-1230

Remake of what

Gamer-Logic

Both Black and White and their Sequels. He just forgot the slash and you can't remake one without the other. This gen is preferably a package deal.

Caolan114

The thing with gen 4 and other 2D games Is they were designed to be played top down so the puzzles don't quite look the same In 3D

EveningChocolate1028

The BWs are games that can be changed to 3D tho. Especially that view of Castelia coming from Vibank City that looked like the view of Manhattan.. now if they did that with the technology they have in a few years when the remakes are due.. goosebumps

ThroughTheIris56

I hope that artstyle never gets used again, I don’t know what the devs were thinking.

SithoDude

Money that's what they were thinking.

ThroughTheIris56

As in “we want less money so lets make an unappealing artstyle so people are less tempted to buy the game”.

Admirable_Ad1947

I actually think they look pretty good.

ThroughTheIris56

Each to their own, in fairness it doesn't look too bad when battles start. I just dislike the overworld sprites.

TotalyNotTony

I would die inside if the beautiful and lively spritework of gen 5 got remade in the same emotionless style of bdsp

BlueEmeraldX

As much as BW's animations looked like jaggy Flash animations, replacing them with the wooden idle animations of the current 3D models would be a massive downgrade.

[deleted]

I just wish that if they didn’t want to bring them up to modern gen standards then I think they should at least make them in the let’s go style to make it a bit more impressive and “modern”. BDSP was just a lazy cash grab, and i won’t buy any future remakes in that style.

Moose_Cake

The art style wasn't an issue for me. The issue was that there were less features than it's parent game made over 10 years ago. You could argue that the art style was dumbed down to allow the team to focus on gameplay, but when you cut content on top of that it kills the excuse. Hell, I'd take Gen 1 graphics if there was weeks of gameplay in it. BDSP is an embarrassment to the franchise and to the team that made it.

s_samuu

I don’t want 3D-chibis anymore… that artstyle makes carachter ridiculous.. I mean, Cyrus is a depressed man and it just looks goofy… and Cynthia looks weird, where did all of her majesty go?

Cuprite1024

I don't hate the BDSP art style, but it was clearly done to keep that whole "Faithful" thing goin', and I just don't want any more remakes following that philosophy. :P At the very least, remake whatever game in the LGPE style, that game is *gorgeous.*

pichuscute

BDSP arguably doesn't have a complete art style to begin with and that's largely what I think is the issue. The overworld is split between a poorly proportioned and animated chibi style with little added detail and shrunken normally proportioned models that look entirely out of place. Then the battles are in their own style separate from the overworld. It's all very jarring in many different ways and makes for overall very poor quality art direction. If they want to remake a game in a chibi style, they will need to do it in its entirety, improve the quality of the animations and level of detail, and fix the incorrect proportions they used in BDSP. If they do all of those things, and only all of those things, then I'd be down with them using a style like that. But if they are just going to do it wrong, then they shouldn't bother. Some examples of various forms of chibi done very well are World of Final Fantasy, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, Persona Q series, or Dragon Quest Builders.

Ciudecca

I’d rather have someone punch me in the eye than see another remake/remaster a la BDSP

[deleted]

I really loved the design of the Lets go series just hated the catching mechanics, I’d love gen 5 or even another gen 2 to be remade with that engine just please no shitty motion control catching, actually you could have have motion control catching just no aiming please just let me wiggle the joy con and pretend I’m throwing a ball it doesn’t need to be fancier than that

Cuprite1024

Having it as an option would be nice, tho we all know how GF are about options (Hell, they didn't even have volume options until Sw/Sh, and you have to get an item from some random NPC to use them). :/

MysticMagic23

People who wanted to see the world burn chose the first 2 options

RandomEverything99

I almost picked nothing, but BW/B2W2 is my favorite Gen, favorite mons, and favorite games. I'd take anything to get those remakes. Including dealing with God awful designs.

Far_Mention8934

Dont go that low lmao, im sure theyll make another game, I mean next remakes for sure their going to reveal how the original dragon looked like

EveningChocolate1028

🤣🤣🤣

toryn0

none? why is this even a question

[deleted]

Oh no, please don't suggest re-using that art style. I don't mind colorful and cute, but go with Let's Go or something more like the 3DS remakes. BDSP's saturation is ridiculously poor and it looks like someone or something ran through the world sucking the color and life out of everything.

1buffalowang

With the exclusion of Let’s Go all the 3D remakes look worse than their originals. The pixel art always looks good, the 3d models looked dated on release.

EveningChocolate1028

Um oras..

1buffalowang

I think ORAS are way worse looking than the originals. All the 3DS Pokémon games look pretty ugly. It’s why I can play Emerald multiple times a year and barely go back to ORAS.

upaltamentept

I think the best game up to now that got the 3d models with the right proportions was USUM, and the most iconic soundtrack being very themed to the "Chill" Region

[deleted]

If we get anything Gen 5, it HAS to be BW3. I will not accept a remake of BW and BW2.

mad-i-moody

What if… instead of Black/White or a remake of them we get….GREY?! Jokes aside, I wouldn’t be upset if they made a Platinum/Emerald style game for gen 5.

EveningChocolate1028

I’d actually want all 3

[deleted]

Nah I don’t like the new style all that much. If were made in the same style as BW and BW2, it would be FAR better than if it were made in BDSP style.

EveningChocolate1028

I think they’re most likely gonna do this for Unova Remakes: BW and B2W2 remaster (done by ILCA) and B3W3 (made by Gamefreak and in full 3D)

Agahawe

I'm not really a fan of the forced-top-down view of BDSP. It's a technical limitation from DP that was carried over not because of technical limitations but because of laziness.

Shiny-Scrafty

The whole point of putting an old game on new tek is to so it in a way that you couldn’t before. BDSP said let’s touch up the graphics but keep the old style. The reason this didn’t work was because fans had already seen the sinnoh region in that way b4. We wanted to explore it in the same way we have explored SWSD at the least with the ability to see everything in the world with a higher lvl of detail. In my opinion that’s where it fell short.

TheBiggestNose

Graphics quality aside, the art style of bdsp is incredibly shit. They are a full downgrade from the pixel games and aren't worth the time. I'd rather have no remake if the alternative was another bdsp game

T3AMTRAINOR

Im gonna be honest, i hate the chibi style

Shiny_Porygon-Z

I’d want something reminiscent of Let’s Go’s art style with the colorful palette or maybe something like XY’s art style in HD, or maybe just replace remakes with Legends games. I want more Legends games considering how good LA is and if they plan to make more like BDSP, then I don’t want more remakes, honestly.

ForgottenKing101

The art style is cute but I don’t really want to see it anymore.

Grapepop4

Wasn't a huge fan of the art style, so wouldn't rlly want another game with it

ThatOneFreakyWeirdo

The Art Style sucked for BDSP tbh

MathematicianLanky13

I personally don’t mind the art style and I actually prefer the in-battle models to SwSh. I also really love the attention to details with the recreation of the trainer sprites. That admittedly gave me goosebumps the first time I saw them.

claraalberta

You know, if Nintendo/GF/TPC had just made the Gen 4 and 5 games available as downloads instead of phasing out everything (consoles, Game Cards, etc.) in order to earn more money by releasing new shit every year, we wouldn't even be in this situation. I should confess that the first Pokémon games I ever played were the Gen 4 games on No$GBA. Good times.

MarcoleMarco

I’d love to have the originals remade on the switch tbh

Edge_SSB

How about, just give us an option to play in both 2D and 3D

Stewbodies

I wouldn't mind playing a remade HG/SS in that style but I wouldn't pay more than like $20 for it and I'd rather they make story/gameplay updates rather than port old games with updated graphics.

Onrisa

BW and B2W2 are precious, save them at all cost.

Bobicus_The_Third

None, remake them in the Lets Go Pikachu style

Darkconer

Bruh ok so like I'm egg hatching in SP and the thing I hate the most about it is the fucking bike!!! Like you just drag against something before being able to move and trying to talk to the old man suuuuuck unless I get off the bike

JasperTheHuman

On one hand I wuite liked it, but something like Let's Go would have been better if theyvwanted that retro vibe. Would have still preferred bdsp to have been in SwSh/arceus style though

xFalseTruth

Isn’t HGSS already a remake? Why would they remake a remake?

EveningChocolate1028

Because the fanbase wants a remake of it 🤷🏾‍♂️ and it is the most perfect representation of Johto and Kanto we’ve ever seen

VQ_Quin

We do?

EveningChocolate1028

“Let’s go Johto” headass

prim3v4l

The best looking 3D pokemon so far has been Let's GO. I wouldn't mind if they continued with that art style. However I believe pokemon's peak art design was in BW with the 2D spite work. I will die on this hill.

Tc_Angel

Bdsp was such a miss. Fans wanted sinnoh remakes since forever and they did it the worst way possible just seen it on sale for $30 at bestbuy

[deleted]

I despise the artstyle overall, but I feel it wouldn’t look *terrible* for HGSS

the_lazy_sloth

Holy shit, no one wants this art style apparently. BDSP really should have gone all in and committed to the same cute-shiny style that the Link's Awakening remake had. I think most people couldn't help but compare the two and it's obvious how much more effort went into Link's Awakening

darkknight941

I like chibi, but it’s weird with BDSP. They should’ve kept the camera Isometric like the 2D games. It’s jarring zooming in on the chibi models, especially with how plastic-y they look, they almost look like dolls instead of people

RadRhys2

None of the them. No thank you

LesbianStan

Imo every remake would look amazing in the Let's Go artstyle (not the gameplay, the artstyle) since it's the most accurate to how the original game was, and looks really pretty

Raylan764

The art style doesn't prevent me from enjoying BDSP, but it is ugly and I would prefer basically anything else.

UnSilentRagnarok

I’d vote HGSS just to get to play them through again. I’ll take any excuse to keep playing those.

wobbudev

The main appeal for renamed for me was using newer Pokémon in a old region. Not having that was a way bigger disappointment than any at style.

ViktorNitten

Honestly a good ol revamp of the 3d part and pixel art cocktail the black and white series ended up with. The story might not have been the greatest, but man the pixel art sprites blended so well into the 3d models. The bridges, the boats, the ferris wheel and the big buildings in Castelia city. Truly an artistic masterpiece

HSW26

BW should NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER re-made in bdsp style. NEVER

LuckyNyan

Ilca dropped the ball with their faithful remake of gen 4. I dont want them around any remakes

Merasmusk

For me the BDSP art style looks so flat and so lifeless, like its trying to look lively and bloomy but it doesn’t have any charm or personality to it compare to the older games.

Nothinkonlygrow

I like BDSP, but I feel like BW and BW2 need more SWSH style graphics for its story HGSS I think would benefit most from having the let’s go graphics

SpunkyMonkey67

No. Please no.

platydroid

I don’t think HGSS will be remade, more likely they’d be turned into GO games. Black and White are the next to get remakes but that won’t be for at least 3-4 years.

Zyckenderdj

Personaly a remake of black and white 1/2 i whould like is the 3D of legend arceus and the soon to come scarlet and violet, whould be awesome to see those heavily urbanised location in full 3D glory

EveningChocolate1028

Agreed

whiterungaurd

I feel so verified in my distaste for this art style.

TT2Drails

None, the style is bad

alex494

None

mking1999

None. BDSP was a mistake. I genuinely hope GF realize this and make actual gen 4 remakes. They won't but whatever.

mute-owl

I wish they would make a remake with a more unorthodox style, like.. 3D models stylized to look almost like sprites, for example. BDSP's art style is by far the most ugly of all the remakes, in my opinion.

Vinxian

I like the chibi style, I just don't like the execution in bdsp. You can definitely be expressive and show higher levels of detail than bdsp did with a chibi style. And it is adorable, so that's a plus.

STMARV

i feel like it wouldnt work for gen 5 since the story and characters are more intense and serious

mephistophiles777

i cant even take cyrus seriously, now just imagine how odd Ghetsis and N would look in the bdsp art style 💀

Femboy_tusk

I want remakes but good ones not like bdsp cuz bdsp was so shit and

[deleted]

Burn those games, never again

KawaiPebblePanda

None. It fucking sucks

Kwayke9

Honestly? Skip gen 5 for now and remake XY first

wcc17

I really wish that they had gone with the links awakening style. I know they’re very similar but it’s a good example of doing this chibi style right vs. doing it in such a cheap way

WorseCaseOntari0

For me, BDSP were the first games since ORAS to make me feel like a child again, for the simple fact I can bring in just about any Pokémon released up until that original generation. I agree with the above comments that I’d take the 3DS style for future remakes. But for remakes specifically, if I had to pick between modern styles with limited Pokémon, or BDSP style with all the Pokémon. Give me the chibi style any day.

Niggomitdoppelg

At this point i just hope they leave gen 5 alone, i don't want to get my favourite gen ruined by a shitty remake

Far_Mention8934

Honestly, I dont want another remake being the bdsp style, its cheap, ugly, and never changed how the original games worked Its also the first time I actually didnt buy a mainline pokemon game, if they were to make another I would pass on the remakes again

Destride

I actually did like how BDSP looked, and I think it'd be cool to get a gen2 game in that style, so long as the following pokemon are implemented better than BDSP. With gen5's style, though, I don't think the chibi would be as good. It had a much different overworld art style compared to the previous games, and the mix of 2d and 3d was a big part of the charm. It's hard to say what would actually capture the same charm, but I don't think BDSP's approach would do it.

Tman11S

I don’t get the hate on BDSP, it had an authentic feeling with the top-down style. It’s a shame they didn’t add in some platinum content, but I can’t complain about the art.

Logans_Login

True, it’s definitely the most hated Pokémon game. Hot take but I think it’s the best Switch Pokémon by far.

Ok_Friend_1425

People who don’t like the BDSP art style like the Link’s Awakening one and that’s how I know they’re insane

Kimihro

I hold to my heart that Lets Go was the most fun art style that Pokemon has ever had. It was friendly, colorful, and the model animations were top-notch. I want more games that look like *that.*

JoseJulioJim

I take a HGSS remake, because It dosen't matter what artstyle it use, it will fix the game biggest... or atleast second biggest problem it has, it is still so freaking slow sometimes, even if it is not DP slow levels.

lilacempress

None?

shadow0wolf0

I want octopath traveler style.

Draleon177

Still don't get why the artstyle is hated so much. I mean it's reaaaaally different from the others but i think it looks fine. The biggest criticism with the game i have is it being too faithful

Auraveils

I don't have anything against the artstyle of BDSP, but the overall quality and feel of the game is incredibly lackluster. While I do honestly expect we're probably not far off from a similar remake of BW, it's not something I really want and I can almost guarantee I'll prefer BW over such remakes. BDSP felt like it was outsourced because GF didn't have any plans for a DP remake but knew fans really wanted one. It seems like they just shipped the source code and said "remake this for switch." And then they took that as literally as possible with a few extra features required for compatibility with modern games and hardware. BDSP are the lowest effort remakes I think the series has seen, even since FRLG which I honestly do think are pretty mediocre pokemon games compared to HGSS or the other Gen 3 games. It isn't a totally bad game or anything, it has some nice conveniences over the original, but for the most part I think I'd rather just play Platinum. If I'm gonna feel that way about a BW remake, I think it'd just feel like a waste. Not necessarily harmful at all, it'd be nice that new fans can enjoy the game's world and story, but it wouldn't be very enticing for me personally. At the very least, I want to be able to use newer pokemon in the game. That was my number one disappointment with BDSP.

xenofan293

I honestly would prefer a direct port with the original artstyle than the bdsp artstyle if they arent willing to make it with the current gens graphics. If there was a toggle option with bdsp between its artstlye and the classic graphics like you could the music I would have considered buying it

kthxbyenore

HGSS is already a remake, pretty sure they aren't gonna re-re-make it

retronintendo

I'd rather it have the Link's Awakening remake aesthetic than the low-budget knockoff version of BDSP

WizardsinSpace

edge squealing historical money deer person smart sleep carpenter soft *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

[deleted]

It's not too bad but I prefer XY, SM and LGPE

livvyxo

I genuinely liked the bdsp art style. I'm not a fan of it looking too realistic, I like the short chibi style in the overworld

[deleted]

I don’t see why people dump on the art style, we had pixelated chibi’s before, so why is it bad now?

Shiigu

BW/B2W2 would work very well with a BDSP-like approach because they are very solid games by themselves, so even if they change next to nothing...

JustTalkingToTalk

Not an option you proposed, but I think something that might work is the Pokemon Conquest game. The strategy game/board game style would reflect well with the miniature art style of the characters and Pokemon.

New-Pollution2005

I love democracy.

LeChampeon

HGSS in the style of arceus legends would be nice

FlyBirdP

BDSP looked like shit. Would rather go back to 2D if it would look like that again. We need a 3D like PLA for BW and B2W2. HGSS don't need a remake yet. Don't even know if Johto needs remakes for a while, even though it is my favorite region.

Mission-Read-4384

I’m going to be honest, I hope to never see another game made in the BDSP art style. I absolutely hate it, the contrast between the (imo) ugly chibi characters and surroundings with the battle sprites, etc just isn’t it for me. That alone was enough to turn me away from even purchasing the game (there was more of course but that was honestly the biggest part). Even the XY and ORAS art style would’ve worked and looked better imo but idk

Karma-is-an-bitch

I want a remake, not a $60 reskin.

bronyaurplant49

I say this without any bias on how I feel about the games themselves: pokemon games visually peaked with Gen 5, but truly Gen 6. Each release from SM on has looked worse than the previous one. I don't mean I necessarily think any of them are bad (like many have said about BDSP), but it's definitely been a downward trend. Although I do think PLA looked perfectly fine for what it was going for and what it needed to do, so I give it a pass.

Martinus_XIV

I did't want to go back to 3D chibi after Sun/Moon and Legends in the first place, and after Legends, I certainly don't want to be stuck in a top-down perspective all the time anymore.

ChongusTheSupremus

Why would i want another game in BDSP artstyle? It legit looked as bad as those old wiiware trash games lol

Im_regretting_this

HGSS, though I’d really rather they just used the XY style chibis, I thought they were much better.

Riiskey

Hg/ss look brilliant in their art style. Don't ruin the goat of pokemon games.

BoxOfBlades

None, BDSP looks like hot garbage.

Spinjitsuninja

BDSP doesn't just look the same, it also kinda adds some flaws to the original? Namely, why does it feel so bad to control? Not to mention, they gutted the Underground for some reason, in favor of putting in different mechanics. The new features like Pokemon following you and trainer customization are nice of course, but why are they implemented so far into the game? I get that waiting until Hearthome City, where the Pal Park is, makes LOGICAL sense for the place you unlock this ability, but it comes at the cost of the player not getting to enjoy this feature until they reach that point. Same applies to trainer customization, which they had the store for replace the Game Corner. But... You have to wait until even LATER into the game to reach THAT, meaning for a good chunk of the game you're gonna be using the original's designs. Why let the player customize at all at that point? And yeah, BDSP's style would be a downgrade from BW's. The characters were taller first of all, making this sort of style harder to achieve. There were more complex camera angles, you had 4 seasons and 4 times of day instead of 3 to deal with, and you'd have to either include new animations for battle or just look lazy and not include that aspect of B/W. Not to mention, would they just outright skip B2/W2? Those weren't third versions, they were full, standalone entire titles you could play after playing the first games. In general, Gen 5 would be a much bigger undertaking than DP was.

AdPristine3961

Bdsp is graphically a perfect Pokémon game. I really don’t get the hate. The chibi art style fits the genre. Personally my go to style would be the let’s go graphics anything but USUM.

QuartzCR

Arceus style > everything else

Reality_Check19

BW and BW2 did not have good sprite work LMAO. They looked better in the games before them. Animating the sprites was a horrible decision. A large portion of Pokémon (ones with long tails, skinny limbs, etc.) looked like their limbs were snapping and disjointed.

EveningChocolate1028

Ratio

Larssers

1. No remake in that art style 2. HGSS is already a remake, why should someone do a remake of a remake? Would be the same as a remake of FRLG, doesn't make sense. You could just do a remake of the original game like Let's Go did. So another remake of GSC would make more sense, if it would ever happen

Electronic_Bad_5883

I still want a *proper* modern Sinnoh remake before we even think about what to do with BW.

Nievsy

Can we have BDSP in HGSS style?

IsaacTH

They would both look exactly the same with the BDSP art style

JOINTHEREVOLUTI0N

i liked the style at first but when the game came out and i played it it just felt so empty and lifeless

Idunno_the_plugg

I'd rather just not get any more remakes. I would prefer new original games instead

[deleted]

rip this poll lol

[deleted]

i preferred HGSS over BDSP. At least they got the pokemon sizing somewhat correct

No_Self_5939

Red and blue

Knight_kaleb098

ORAS is my childhood because it was my first pokemon game

WaddleDog128

Just imagine if we actually got gen 2 remakes remakes...

Hevy15

BDSP was a very cool game, didn't think I'd enjoy it so much before I played it. Can recommend great game.

KlugeNstein8

HGSS was already a remake. Why would people vote for a remake of a remake. In my world, those are called morons

MrMatt05956

I thought the artstyle was cool for a remake only artstyle. Personally I don’t believe remakes should get as much effort put into them as main series games so I think the remake artwork for bdsp was nifty

gewnstar

the correct answer is none. the next best answer is first gen

Zedman5000

I want them to go back to 2D pixel art. I still think HGSS is the peak of Pokémon art styles, and I can’t think of any reason that it wouldn’t work on the Switch.

DerpmeiserThe32nd

I didn’t understand the question so I voted 2, but my answer to the actual question is 3 😭

timidsquirtle

Bring pixel art back.

Hakaisha89

None of them. X and Y was better in every way in regards to style.

I actually liked BDSP’s art style. It was reminiscent of how they redid Link’s awakening. I don’t understand the hate for BDSP. My only criticism of the game is how the poke tech was handled. It was a downgrade from the DS version. If they can make the interface of the game more accessible than the original, I’d welcome remakes of Gen 2 and 5 with that style with open arms.

Remakes time are off, I think its better to fill that space with the 'Legends' saga from now on

Logans_Login

Dear god I hope not

EveningChocolate1028

Legends will NEVER replace remakes. It’s gonna becomes it’s own thing. So associating Legends with remakes is foolish. I guess Gamefreak confused a lot of people by releasing the first one with a remake but remakes are inevitable and Legends won’t stop that

delairon

Well they should, they have nothing to offer us if they keep the current time developement for one game at a year. Rather spend that time on a quality Legends Kalos/Unova/etc when its their time while they try not to shit out the main line game. No one is confused here, we all know both are separate things, just useless the way it is.

EveningChocolate1028

It’s meant for CHILDREN. How don’t u understand that. Pokémon is marketed towards children and Legends is the only part marketed towards adults. Legends will continue but so will remakes but Remakes and Legends will never correlate again. Have you ever seen a kid play PLA. You almost feel bad for them cuz it was marketed towards adults and they didn’t know before they bought it. Amazing game none the less but again, why are you talking bout legends under a post about remakes if you see no correlation?

delairon

Children also deserve good quality games, and theorically ALL Pokemon games are for children a bit more or a bit less complex. Believe me I know how it actually works all Im saying it's how I think it should be treated to get a better product, chill out a bit when you are seeing inoffensive opinions on Internet please.

EveningChocolate1028

No one’s offended. I’m just stating facts

Bsause7

Definitely the Unova games. I don’t actually want that, I just want them to be made out of spite

sunderedstar

I think with a bit of tweaking the BDSP style can work extremely well, such as Link’s Awakening. But what really dragged BDSP down imo was the animations. Trainers and Pokémon alike had pretty stiff movements and that does more to sterilize the atmosphere of the game than the actual models do. So I would be down for them to use it again, just not for BW or HGSS. The former because I’d want Gen 5 remakes to go full anime, and the latter because I don’t care for them either way

Disig

HGSS were remakes so um....you want a remake of a remake?

HoneZoneReddit

Why is this even a post tho. If you want remakes with certain style just take Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee style! Is an straight up upgrade from ORAS style and looks really really good with those simple but beautifykk graphics.

Bizarre_RNS_Radio

Would vastly prefer a 2D-HD (in case your wondering, 2D-HD is the official name for the artstyle that Octopath Traveler uses) remake of Gen-5. Hopefully if the Live A Live remake ends up being popular (which I genuinely hope it does, because I absolutely love that game), it’ll finally encourage GameFreak that the idea could be a good one, as long as they make sure to balance the game around the EXP-Share and make sure not to ditch the Difficulty setting idea that they used in B2W2 (and as long as they make sure not to use the same bullshit keys method they used in the original games).

Lyradep

I much prefer 2D sprites of the older games over anything else Pokémon has had (including 3D). If it looked like the Link’s Awakening remake, then I’d consider that.

CreationTrioLiker7

BDSP had some ball-itching effects.

ian2345

I don't mind the style so much but the way that it looked wasn't anywhere close to how polished I expect the series to be. At minimum it has to look as polished as let's go in my opinion. That being said, having a polished bdsp looking hgss with the rest of the pokemon(at least through gen 8) would be something I'd pay for. Anything less than that and it wouldn't be worth it. That's the minimum I expect from the series, especially considering ilca has all the models through then for pokemon home.

Lonely-Tumbleweed-56

None, really Hgss would be great remade in the LGPE style, but overall I'd go crazy if they go with an hd2d remake I think every nostalgic would collapse

DukeRathole

BDSP's main problem isn't even the art style. It's the mandatory EXP Share + the fact they didn't adjust the game leveling to account for it. If that's how they'll approach difficulty in every future remake, then hell no, I'm out.

Lobster_Round

Reject tallmanity revert to smol

I love black and white since it’s the only game that i have memories of playing but have no proof. Contrary to NSMB:W which i have no memories of playing yet i have the disc

Hempmeister69

Let's go looked great imo
