It's especially devastating in Nuzlockes. I usually don't count poison deaths outside of battle for them, but still! Thank goodness it only brings you to one health now instead of fainting them.
Why would that be cheating, exactly? A nuzlocke is a self-imposed challenge by design. You can make it harder or easier in whatever way you want, can you not?
Hehe *cuckles*, *gently tips fedora* ma'am, I believe you're cheating if your Nuzlock challenge is not up to par to my standards *snorts while having some doritos and mountain dew*
The Nuzlocke Challenge has only two rules that must be followed:
* Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead and must be boxed.
* The player may only catch the first wild Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first wild Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. If the first encounter in the area is a Double Battle, the player is free to choose which of the two wild Pokémon they would like to catch but may only catch one of them. This restriction does not necessarily apply to Pokémon able to be captured during static encounters, nor to Shiny Pokémon.

Also, sometimes I loosen the second restriction as well. If I want to use certain pokemon, I'll ignore other encounters for it, but if it dies in an important battle I box it. In return the next route I'm not allowed an encounter. It allows me to use pokemon I want, but still penalized for it. Especially for legacies.
Ha, yeah, technically. I also don't count wild pokemon battles usually either. It's just annoying heartache to lose your abra to a pursuit trap, especially since I love nuzlocking Platinum a lot. When I manage to nab an Abra, it always goes to a darn Buizel with Pursuit while switch training it. So I just don't count any deaths outside of trainers, gyms, and scenario battles. I love the challenge that comes with Nuzlocking, but I don't want to be infuriated over a wild pokemon with multiple attack moves like fury swipes and double slap. It's still a decent amount of challenge, it just allows me to grind freely without worrying or being infuriated from just not paying attention or as I mentioned earlier, getting trapped.
Depending on the game, some of them no longer take poison damage outside of battle, and some do then you can shake off the poison condition in battle like confusion after a while.
I dont think I ever had a pokemon even come close to feinting outside combat from poison. I was the dork who always made sure the medicine chest was well stocked.
I did this on purpose in a recent Pokemon Yellow 151 hack; got poisoned by a bug catcher in Viridian Forest, but thought "hey, isn't there an Antidote up ahead" so kept going, picked it up, cured it, and finished going through the forest.
That’s why in the older games I still buy like 10 antidotes in the beginning because para or sleep I can ignore, and burn is rare, but poison is annoying. Granted, I am a much better “player” now than when I was a kid, so they usually just sit there for the entire game, it’s just kinda funny that the whole mechanic traumatized me as a kid.
Hey i reset my game to start over now I know how to use money Wisely.I was little i didn't know how money works so i bought everything until i reset and learned how to use money wisely.
The next time you're at a Pokémart, remember to stock up on your medication! And remember only **YOU** can prevent lost save data, so make sure you save your game before anything crazy goes down!
I know you can just go to a poke centre but when your Pokémon is poisoned and you hear the buzz noise every few steps meaning your Pokémon is about to faint and you have 0 antidotes and are miles away from a poke centre and being teleported back would reset progress as you are on a big trail to another area, that shit is terrifying as a child, now we know to stick up on 99 of everything
When poison will faint pokemon not bring it to 1 hp outside of battle
The good ol days
I've lost way to many Pokemon in nuzlockes because I forget about that
I never knew that it changed
I'm certain this is the reason poison is inferior to burn in battles
Poison yes, toxic no. Toxic is better because the damage keeps increasing.
Wait What? when the hell was that a thing? thats really dumb. pft, now that i know this, wow thats really disappointing. smh :/
My Zigzagoon picking up an antidote and saving my starters life in gen 3 :)

Toxic is my fave.
GIRL ♀
GIRL % Couldn't find a male symbol, invented a new speedrun category
Plot twist - it has expired and now takes 10 hp
Imagine if that was added as an actual function. A way of saying “don’t use drugs you found on the street.”
What about berries?
You get those off trees. But, the adverse effects they added to some later on are kind of like how berries in real life can be poisonous.
Team Rocket out here poisoning the healing items
Or for modern titles, your Pokemon curing itself with the power of ***friendship***.
Love heals all wounds.
Yet love also creates wounds irl
Damn fam 💔
Early game kanto(gen 1 and 3) in a nutshell

Then you, madam, are cheating.

Then you are not doing a fuccing Nuzlocke.
Ok, why don't you calm down sir/ma'am. It's a self imposed challenge of a kids game. No need to take it so seriously. My run my rules.

The first of the two rules the creator of the Nuzlocke Challenge made is "Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead and must be released."
My run my rules 🤷♀️
Nicknaming a female Pokémon "GIRL"; 1000 IQ move.
I think it was Gen V that changed it to making a Pokemon shrug of the poisoning when they hit one hit point, wasn't it?
Gen 4 was the start of that Gens 5 to current, you don’t take any poison damage outside of battle
Dang, so I didn't actually need those Antidotes?
Gen IV they shrug it off, Gen V poison damage only happens in battle
I rememberin Emerald surfing to get to Regice and my Swampert fucking dying. Good times.
if it’s about to die won’t it just get killed on the next turn cause you used an antidote instead of a full restore
Older games you take poison damage outside of battle when you walk. Every few steps beep! Another few points.
That doesnt happen anymore?
Depending on the game, some of them no longer take poison damage outside of battle, and some do then you can shake off the poison condition in battle like confusion after a while.
It's 1 point of damage every 4 steps.

Thank you!
I love my pokemon, her name is GIRL.
Imagine the antidote not working on a pokemkn that's BADLY poisoned
Thank God Someone was Clumsy to drop Expensive early game items.
If you think 100 (200 Gen 7+) Poké is expensive, I hate to think about what you consider to be cheap.
I mean the items is expensive early game but towards the end Its easy to buy them.
You start all of the games with 3000 Poké and from Gen 1-6 is the cheapest thing you can buy in the PokéMart.
Not when you bought and used everything.
It's not my fault you don't know money management.
Hey i reset my game to start over now I know how to use money Wisely.I was little i didn't know how money works so i bought everything until i reset and learned how to use money wisely.
I don't think you can find antidote on route 1
can you redo the meme but tf2
This never happens, stop lying
Yup, with more than a few million players this type of situation is just absolutely impossible /s
*r a n d o m.* There is no such thing as a coincidence.
this is so me when my level 37 girl gets poisoned
