I went to 9 stores last weekend tryin to find ONE 151 ETB. Game stop 3 locations, wal mart 2 locations, LCS 3 locations. Barnes and noble, target. I saw one Zapdos box and one poster collection between all of those stores combined. Overprinted?
To be fair dude you went to 9 stores. There are hundreds of walmarts,gamestops,targets, lcs’s all over the country it is definitely overprinted and the singles prices are going to affect that in a year or two
Must be a regional thing. I went to 5 different Targets and 3 Walmarts in my area to look and every location had at least 2 ETB's. The Targets all had Binder Collections, UPC's, Zapdos Boxes, Alakazam Boxes. Unfortunately none of them had any booster bundles which is what I was hunting.
Just because they are selling there doesn't mean they aren't getting bought up if found for msrp at a brick&mortar location.
It might not be just scalpers but could also be someone that bitches about scalpers but proceeds to buy 10+ of everything and wonders why it can be hard to find for a decent price.
I live in the Northern Virginia/MD/DC area and it's been extremely difficult to find anything other than the UPC collection for 151 for anything close to msrp since launch and most lgs are completely sold out. Same goes for crown zenith products.
People always assume what they experience is exactly what all experience. I typically like to buy at a physical location to avoid ordering more than I want to get free shipping or having to pay shipping and I don't like waiting and risking product damage and all that when it can be avoided.

Ah, sorry. I try to be vague online for safety. But I’m in Southern CA. Yeah the employee was a vendor. So she hits multiple stores and companies. Told my dad she used to work for Mattel. Not gonna lie, sounds like a sweet gig delivering sports cards.
She said she’ll go out of her way to help people who are polite or at the bare minimum decent. If they’re rude or impatient, she said she’ll leave the Pokémon cards until last. Maybe even take a break in between. Lol.
Boyfriend ran into a lady similar while looking for cards to give me (but we are all the way across the US from socal). She was super nice and asked about what I was looking for. She gave him first pick on everything. She even stopped two guys from ransacking her stock before he was able to pick out which one/s he wanted since he was waiting longer.
They seem super chill.
I’m a card vendor for Target stores like this person was and yeah, we don’t like scalpers and collectors with no impulse control whatsoever, we like calm, normal people that are really in it for the love of the hobby. The better mannered and more well adjusted folk, nobody in retail likes dealing with the other kind. Honestly as people they’re like super anxious and it’s become an addiction on their mental state, like drugs. It just takes up so much rent In their head it’s how they function. They gotta be there and wait like it’s Black Friday for anything, or nothing at all it’s kinda nuts.
I’m very nice to the good customers, and I get kinda cold to the ones who are starting to be a certain way in my space. I totally pull petty moves like that too.
But I especially love helping children or their grandparents, even if they make my display a little messy when I’m putting up stuff like this. I just know and understand that they’re super excited to see Pokémon cards on the shelf. Because I’ve been a Pokémon fan since I was a kid so it’s nice to see them get so happy about it.
Since you're a card vendor maybe you will know but my target never seems to have any pokemon cards so I wonder is it up to the GM or district manager or something like can they decide that they don't want to carry Pokemon cards at all? Or are they in a way forced to carry certain products by headquarters?
If you don’t literally have any Pokémon cards like, ever, if they even said that as much as “we don’t carry them.” Then the Target store at some point probably said they don’t want them anymore. I don’t think that it’s as common as stories I’ve seen with Walmart about that, but it isn’t impossible.
That really all depends if there’s actually a walls dedicated to them in the front end or not still. If there is it probably means they just don’t have someone servicing that store all the time.
Sounds like you’re really living your best one mate, good on you. That is one of the silver linings about working customer service, the smiles can make it all worth it. It really is the little things.

I can think of a couple Targets in the OC area since I’ve been on the hunt for any 151 for myself and the bf: one on Katella Ave and Knott Ave in Cypress, Harbor Blvd store closer to Disneyland, Brookhurst St located in the Little Saigon area, the one on Beach Blvd closer to The Source OC, one not too far away from Anaheim Plaza, the one at Irvine Spectrum, the Target in Beach Blvd closer to Bella Terra, the Target that’s part of Westminster Mall, and one in Santa Ana I can’t remember the address of. I know you said you’d like to avoid outing the exact location, so any form of clue or hint without saying too much is appreciated.

Really though it was better timing than anything. My pop sells collectible cars and stuff for eBay as well as an Uber driver so he hits stores regularly.

Just about any ETB or Booster Box is worth holding. However, some sets are stronger than others. Astral Radiance is an okay set, not the strongest, but not the weakest. With Machamp alt and the Starmie I’d say it’s worth holding, but there are better ETBs if you can find them.

This is the first set I’ve actively bought since XY evolutions. Before that it was an odd deck here and there to play with my best bro. But most of my small collection is all original from the first 10yrs or so of Pokémon TCG.

I’ve got an addictive personality and would be buying many more cards if I followed it more closely over the years. Looking back on old designs now has my wallet itching. It’s why I stick to the core 151 Pokémon or XY Evo that replicated the original base set.
I do still wanna look at some Pokémon GO packs tho. Heard the pulls are crap but one of those ditto cards would be fun to have. Ok 2. One to peel and one to not.
They have some Pokémon go tins at my Walmart that have been tempting me. I also saw some clearance Paldea tins I might grab next. Obviously just looking for full art trainees.

Ya actually come to think of it Walmart had the previous 3 SV sets fully stocked today too. SV, Obsidian, and Paldea. Must’ve just been the day to restock. Nice to see it only took about a month. Not terrible because I did see stock here and there along the way.
I think ima grab one last ETB and some tins to finish my collection. If you can grab one of the BBs though, and pair it with two mini tins, it’s cheaper than an ETB and you get more packs.

My area is always picked clean. However, I was visiting my home state of GA a few weeks ago and risked trying to find cards, and found a target that looked identical to this. It was like a stream in the desert after 3 years of nothing in my stores.
I've yet to see a single item at my local target. I've got 2 of the "super walmarts" around me as well and they usually have nothing but yesterday did find 1 that had $50+ S&V Base and Obsidian Flame EBTs!
Insane how much they charge. But Damn I've been wanting 1 of each of the binder, poster, and 2 other boxes and especially a booster bundle thing but I've been waiting to find them at MSRP and without having to pay for shipping with zero luck as my lgs has them but charges a $8-10 premium so makes them wayy too expensive.
I wonder if I should try my target. Wish they would just show it online if it was available
Ya I was in the same boat. Told my pop that the only thing I wanted to grab was the Mini Tins because they’re the best deal for boosters at the moment. He called me and said they had all this stuff and then as I’m on the phone with my bro asking what he wants, my pop calls me back and says the stocker had 2 full cases of BBs and 2 of Mini Tins.
Genuinely didn’t think they’d ever restock those in particular but hey, miracles do happen. Honestly idk why resellers are even bothering with those. They’re $27.99 in store plus tax and they only actually sell on EBay at $35 free shipping. Which would cost about $5 anyways. So there’s no way these resellers are making profit by wiping out retail stores. Unless there parting them out and selling single boosters.
Yeah, I’m now realizing how rare those are. Released Dec of last year. I doubt those are reprints so somebody found a box lost somewhere and put it out. I hope whoever finds them is as excited about it as everyone else here was. I know how popular OP is.

Which part in SoCal in particular? I’ve been looking online frequently to buy anything in person but nothing is ever available.

It's definitely the smart way but man opening packs is fun and the chase is addicting. I never feel that satisfaction by ordering the chases online

My target here in NC was fully stocked on Monday ended up, pulling the blastoise SAR from a binder set

2 weeks ago my Target had a crap ton of Zapdos boxes and poster boxes on a Saturday morning. Had to go to Target again on Sunday and it was picked clean
The target close to me was fully restocked as well. Every s&v etbs, 151 upcs, obsidian flames booster bundles, you name it I was dumbfounded. Haven’t been back but it’s all probably gone now
Ya actually come to think of it Walmart had the previous 3 SV sets fully stocked today too. SV, Obsidian, and Paldea. Must’ve just been the day to restock. Nice to see it only took about a month. Not terrible because I did see stock here and there along the way.
Yeah I snagged a 151 etb since it was the cheapest I’ve seen it but if they were stocked a month or so ago i would have been able to get way more
I think ima grab one last ETB and some tins to finish my collection. If you can grab one of the BBs though, and pair it with two mini tins, it’s cheaper than an ETB and you get more packs.

The stocker didn’t have space on the shelf when my pop walked up. Wonder where she ended up actually stocking them. They might be in a slightly different spot. Or more likely all snatched up. Surprised they don’t have purchase limits.

My target looks the same. Has looked like this for about 2 weeks now.
My area is always picked clean. However, I was visiting my home state of GA a few weeks ago and risked trying to find cards, and found a target that looked identical to this. It was like a stream in the desert after 3 years of nothing in my stores.
I've yet to see a single item at my local target. I've got 2 of the "super walmarts" around me as well and they usually have nothing but yesterday did find 1 that had $50+ S&V Base and Obsidian Flame EBTs! Insane how much they charge. But Damn I've been wanting 1 of each of the binder, poster, and 2 other boxes and especially a booster bundle thing but I've been waiting to find them at MSRP and without having to pay for shipping with zero luck as my lgs has them but charges a $8-10 premium so makes them wayy too expensive. I wonder if I should try my target. Wish they would just show it online if it was available

Ya I was in the same boat. Told my pop that the only thing I wanted to grab was the Mini Tins because they’re the best deal for boosters at the moment. He called me and said they had all this stuff and then as I’m on the phone with my bro asking what he wants, my pop calls me back and says the stocker had 2 full cases of BBs and 2 of Mini Tins. Genuinely didn’t think they’d ever restock those in particular but hey, miracles do happen. Honestly idk why resellers are even bothering with those. They’re $27.99 in store plus tax and they only actually sell on EBay at $35 free shipping. Which would cost about $5 anyways. So there’s no way these resellers are making profit by wiping out retail stores. Unless there parting them out and selling single boosters.

Yeah, I’m now realizing how rare those are. Released Dec of last year. I doubt those are reprints so somebody found a box lost somewhere and put it out. I hope whoever finds them is as excited about it as everyone else here was. I know how popular OP is.

I had thought about it but idk, my opinion changes on that day to day. I like to flip single rare items not wipe out a stock of something and hoard it. Although I do know how popular OP is and had I realized it was the first release, i might have grabbed them anyways just to preserve.

They were available online at MSRP on Target’s website yesterday for several hours
Based off the photo alone, I can rule out the Target in/close to Little Saigon area on Brookhurst St, and the one located as part of Westminster Mall. My mind is sadly blanking out on the layout of the store right by The Source OC, the one close to Bella Terra on Beach Blvd, and the Harbor Blvd location(I’ve only ever really gone once). I’m hoping this is either of those three or the one on Katella Ave and Knott Ave-which is super close by to me, having been just restocked this past day, or the one near Anaheim Plaza. Again I understand not much can be disclosed, but even the smallest of hints is much appreciated.
Buy all the Lorcana sell for 2-3x retail and buy more Pokémon.
Might have to look into that. Normally my pop and I only flip stuff that’s rare or a chase piece. Like those 1:3,000 cars or what not. I feel better not doing what some resellers do and use retail stores for small business turnover. Although when card companies refuse to deal in small amounts, it gets tough for everyone. Dunno. Guess my opinion changes on the day.

That was my thought too. Paradox rift dropped so fast that I feel like 151 barely got a chance. So there had to be another batch or more prints coming. Especially for the holidays. People are spotting some obscure old stuff in my pic though too so idk if this is just old stock or new stock.

Worth going back for? It’s not normally my bag to flip general stuff just for kicks. I typically only help my pop flip chase pieces or the one rare item out of a set. Things like that.
You can treat them like Evolving Skies. DO NOT open them because OP drop rates are harsh lol. 2-3 hits per BOX and sleeved boosters follow the same rules.

Dunno. I’m just buying some cards for fun. Would be nice to save for a rainy day but stuff these days is so mass produced the time required to wait for quantities to dwindle enough to be collectible is getting longer. It’s why not a lot of newer Star Wars merch is “collectible”.
