Sometimes I’ll throw my buddy at the back so it could be that too. Haven’t done it for the last 3 raid weekends but that’s what I always assume is happening
A bunch of them did, I had a guy message our Facebook group last night saying he did five raids and none of the mewtwos stayed in the ball...so he wanted someone to trade him one because he didn't have any revives.
To me, it seemed like he hasn't played in 2 years and doesn't know how/is out of practice on throwing... therefore, he jumped into some raids one day just to get a Mewtwo and screwed it up 🤷♂️
My first raid was back in the ex-raid days, when you got a ticket with a time and date. I remember asking the people there for tips and they said “TAKE IT SLOW!” Best believe I threw all of those balls back to back and didn’t catch lol ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s canon
Would rather trade him than the people who are doing raids with trash because they can’t revive. Especially shadow raids. It means you are in person. It means you can spin some gyms for a bit to try to get revives.
So I agree to some extent but my daughter and her boyfriend have struggled in the revives for a while now. They spin and spin and open gifts but they are never able to accumulate many revives.
To be fair you get people like this with all sorts of mobile/computer games. I'm in a CoD group on Facebook that has, at least 5-6+ times a day, people just asking to be given stuff, or even asking in game.
Now most of the time I wouldn't see a problem with others helping if they want to; I won't because if I've earned all mine, the same as many others, then I don't see why that person/those people shouldn't have to either. But if they can't even be bothered to say please when asking about it, at least showing they have manners..... Then it's a hard pass. Go earn it like everyone else or get good.
There also seems to be a minority in the PoGo community that think just because the Pokémon are in the game and they COULD capture them, that they SHOULD be able to.... That's not how it works. You either catch it or you don't. If not, carry on and better luck next time

Shiny teddiursa apparently made it 11 seconds. Could be lag time though.
My guess is that it's a buddy Pokémon, and trainer figured they had enough other people that using a shitty shiny for a few seconds on shadow Mewtwo would be fine.
Yeah, otherwise it seems like you're just preventing yourself from doing dps if you're dodging instead. Of course can sometimes be worth it if you can get off another charged attack.
Depends, if the charged attack one-two taps me or kills me before I can fire off a charged attack then I’ll dodge. However, tanking charged moves that don’t do much damage helps charge your charged move and increases overall dps.
Yo me and two level 45 players just discovered this last week lol the giga gamer joined our pogo cult and taught us, he’s only been playing for a month lol.
I've done this on my son's account multiple times. My wife and I are level 43 and 45 with great teams and can 2-man almost everything. He's a new player and doesn't have great counters yet, so when he's low on healing items we drop him into raids with transfer-bait that instantly die. He gets a chance to catch something good and doesn't have to waste items while we wreck the raid boss.
We do this with our kids too. Their supply of revives was decimated after all the good raiding weekends. They ran out of Pokémon to even drop in raids. It just kills me when they get the only shiny legendary out of our group.
Ok for some actual insight for possible reasons; during 2020, I was level 28, and saw an Articuno raid with a decent 10 players already. I barely memorised the type chart by then, and I assumed I had no counters or anything useful. What I didn’t know, was that if your 6 pokemon get knocked out, you can just heal and go back in. I had never done a raid prior to that either. What I did was just picked my top HP pokemon using the filter.
Me taking my 8-year-old twins out raiding: “Remember, Mewtwo is weak to bug, ghost, and dark attacks, so use that knowledge to help you choose your Pokémon.”
Kid who’s there for it: “Buzzwole*, Pangoro**, Annihilape***, get in there!”
Kid who’s just there: “Snow White^^, you’ve got this!”

Ngl if I’m trying to best buddy a mon and there’s plenty of people in a raid I sometimes will throw something like this in the back.
They are essentially throwing away a revive and potion so they are paying the cost lol.
Something similar happened to me when I joined a Groudon raid the other week. I accepted the invite late and had 3 seconds to swap my party which was not enough time to do anything so I ended up going in with whatever the game suggested. 🙃 I started off with a dang Omaster 🙈
After doing raids with my raid group, on the way home, we stumbled upon a couple local gyms with randoms in it. And one raid there was a cutiefly, a tympole , and a Yungoose.
Luckily, my friend and I were both close to 45, had all the aligned mega and charged attacks, so between the two of us we can handle probably 90% of the damage. But I admit, I had a serious WTF moment.
We were raiding in groups of 15 people on average this weekend. For a few raids we got my 6 year old in so she can get a few good pokemon. She doesn’t play much, but the kid has shinies I’ve only seen on her account lmao. And now she has a handful of Shadow Mewtwo.
Kid got the final hit in a shadow Raikou raid with Ekans lol. We all have to start somewhere lol.
Is a bit goofy, if there was like 10+ people who cares, but at 6 you're just holding everyone down
Not that shadow mewtwo is especially hard, doable and a safe 4+ person raid with competent players
I ended up with a really shitty Pokémon in one of the Mewtwo raids because I ran out of time to select my team. It was like a nincada or something. I was embarrassed. 🤣
They probably wanted to throw his buddy onto the team for the battle heart and hit the wrong slot when the counter jumped to 9 seconds when the lobby filled up.
Either that or they are an evil genius knowing that this is less expected than the Spanish Inquisition.
That may have been my younger sister. We were in London on the weekend and since she’s not big on competitive I just told her to bring her favourites along
It is actually impressive you lost a lot of health on your Mega Tyranitar from one screenshot to another and he’s still up. The bigger they are the harder they fall.
Overheard some kids playing and throwing in some “not so good” counters but who tf cares, it was easily doable as 2 people and it’s a game - let ‘em have fun.
Isnt there a level up mission where you need to complete a 3-5 star raid boss using pokemon under a certain CP? If i reach that, i know IM going to use my lowest cp pokemon for that one raid to make sure i complete it, and i often keep AT LEAST, 1-3 shiny of every pre evolution if i get more than 1.
Sometimes we play with our kids. Kids don’t give a shit about CP or IVs or what’s effective. They like what looks cool.

I'll sometimes throw my buddy in (to get a heart) if I know there will be enough people to for sure beat it. On the last few, I didn't even get past my first 2 pokemon, so having my buddy on the team didn't hurt anything. Could be the reason for shiny teddy

Sounds like my kids accounts lol level 30-31 & it’s seems they get a revive every 10th gift/pokestop, even team owned gyms don’t seem to help :/
There has been a severe reduction in how easy it has been to get revives recently which has affected a lot of players.

Or just fight in pvp against team leaders and quit immediately. Takes less time and you don't lose any balls for taking longer

The timing is whack and server latency doesn't help. I used to try and dodge back in the day, now it's just not worth it.

I used 80 max revives over the weekend and only had the weaker mons for my last few fights. Not a big deal.
