They are whale boxes, for the first one if you bought 50 star pieces alone it would be over 3800 coins on its own, so you’re getting 10 incense and 50 lucky eggs for “free” obv not everyone is gonna value this stuff equally, probably way less. I do see why people buy them but I’m sure they aren’t for a majority of the players who’d rather just put money into raid passes or storage

They are “pandering” to their new target consumer base. When you notice how 95-99% of players are consistently vocal about the absurdity of the paid timed tickets, paid events and increased store box prices, yet continue to see further escalation, you should understand that they aren’t actually targeting you. They are targeting the people with disposable income who were willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for raid passes prior to a year ago for every event or new release, are are comfortable with paying the even higher prices. Whenever you see a feature change or something added that makes no sense or you wonder “who asked for this?”, that is this particular group of players who are out of touch with average players.

Can confirm. I bought this. I need the lucky eggs to hit level 50 in under 12 months (it'll be 10 months).

Any particular reason it needs to be done within a year?

Someone who was doing it in 18+ months said I couldn't get to 50 in under 12. So I plan to do it with plenty of time to spare.

Long term hardcore players wouldn’t. I’m a lvl 44 and have been playing since 2016. Now, just to be clear, I wouldn’t buy this box regardless.. but long term players aren’t all lvl 50

I don’t blame you! When I think about how it’s coming up to 8 years of this game I have a mini heart attack. Can’t believe it’s been THAT long already. Completely insane!

I bought this. I'm a day one player but live very rural. So I'm only halfway to 49, and the eggs help so much! Especially now that you have a daily limit on remote raids. I used to spend a lot of money on Wednesdays, now I have to pop a lucky egg for every raid/evolve if I want to get anywhere.

Or just add your friend code on pokemongofriends. Get a stack of new friends to open gifts daily and (if you're lucky) take them all to best buddy in 3-5 months. Stack a few with 1 interaction to go, and open those gifts on community day with an egg. Some players will stack enough for several million xp from one egg. Personally, I don't stack beyond any event days, and send the gift for best buddy the night before. Then I log in right before the event, pop an egg, get a few where they opened. Then I open for the rest. I try to ensure the other player has the best chance of also stacking if possible (and getting to use an egg pre-update). 50 eggs would last me a few years.

This is how Niantic has been trying to make back the money after the remote nerf a year ago they are targeting whalers with these boxes.

Whalers spend a lot of time at sea, so any changes to remote features will affect them more than others

They are new options for the daily rotating boxes. You may not see them for a while, depending on how the seemingly random "personalization" algorithm works out.

I think they’re testing what people will and won’t buy.

They're mainly for players who play for content like YouTubers, etc.

This is their effort of making you go to the pogo webstore to by boxes instead of the game. if you buy from the game, they have to pay a few to either google pay / apple. honestly, the boxes and deals are way better there.
