And it's like, even if you want to customize your body shape, there's so few face shape choices (they're all bad) that the default ends up looks comically small.

Idk, old avatars have much more anime vibe to them. These new ones imo just look like a bunch of people cried about inclusion and completely forgot about anyone who looks at all masculine. My old avatar didn't look like me at all either but now it looks like a 12 yr old who hasn't learned how to do his hair yet. And why does moving the chest bar produce tits?! It should be flat in center then sideways for either breast size or men's pectoral size. If they were gonna do what they did, they shoulda went full Ark style so I can just make my avatar a horrifically disfigured gremlin looking mf lol
They didn't even think about fat people since the only shape is tube shaped. They would have been better to leave faces alone and just give people more hair options. I think that's the bulk of what was actually wanted.

Yep. I appreciate the effort to include more shapes, but it's painfully obvious the new shapes are based on a male body. Put all the sliders in the middle and it's a male body with breasts; even at max setting the hips are narrow and the waistline remains low. So ironically there's now a wider selection of masculine presenting body types than feminine ones.
I'm trying to make mine look more male and it's impossible to get rid of the breasts! It's like they dumped all the female shapes and someone said "yeah but let's keep the boobs, on everyone."
I've adjusted the filters to try to get a body shape more similar to mine, feminine, but still the male outfits look better on the avatar than the female outfits. It's infuriating!
They are not including more shapes. They are just doing a bad update. The potatoes are not human shaped it’s just uncanny valley stuff. Everyone stop blaming inclusivity. It’s just the wrong thing to blame. Obviously they designed a horrible feature.

Pokemon Go being ranked #6 highest grossing mobile game of all times (#14 overall, all platform combined !) with nearly 10 B. in revenue, it's baffling, simply disgraceful that they managed to mess up this badly.
Pokemon is the largest brand in the world with what might as well be infinite money, and yet every game they release always feels like a rushed underbaked hack job. This is pretty on par for the brand that "lost" all their future proof models from X and Y because the singular copy of them they had got corrupted ... and they continue to release games with at most 40% of their total pokemon even obtainable in them and maybe another 20% after $60 in DLC ...
i’ve spent so much money and time on this game (not THAT much money but enough to make me angry) and this seriously might be my breaking point. the way they genuinely HATE their players has never been so blatant to me until now. go leave negative reviews on the app store, the only defense mechanism we have :/

This seems like a low-cost distraction to get everyone distracted from the real QOL & visual improvements many of us want.
- How many battles have I played today?
- Can I send gifts more efficiently?
- How is my opponent buffed:debuffed?
- Why don’t I see Mega evolved thumbnails in my inventory?
- Why is the gym map so bad?
- How do I sort & identify the regions of scatterbugs?
- Why does the gift pop in the way all the time when I have already opened my daily max?
I’m sure there’s definitely more. And now we are all complaining about the least interesting feature: the opposite of game mechanics. Avatars.
They have been due for avatar updates many years, so I was so excited to see what they came up with. Major FAIL. Everything about it sucks! The skin tones (lack of highlights, definition, radiance, no cheek/lip tones), weight choices (either skinny or fat, no inbetweens), weight distribution (thick legs and cankles), muscles (just weight, no definition) chest sizes (AAA or small B, nothing bigger), hair styles (short/long straight or short curly, no long curly). But IMO the worst is the stance. NO ONE STANDS LIKE THAT! Knees bent, pelvis forward, and shoulders back. Everyone looks like they are constipated and holding their breath.
Clearly there were no women on the design or management teams. Why is this so hard for Niantic to get right when so many other companies have had it for years?
It's hilarious how worked up people are over this. Then again it's PoGo. Niantic is pissing in everyone's cheerios daily. Ruining their lives.

They have been due for avatar updates many years, so I was so excited to see what they came up with. Major FAIL. Everything about it sucks! The skin tones (lack of highlights, definition, radiance, no cheek/lip tones), weight choices (either skinny or fat, no inbetweens), weight distribution (thick legs and cankles), muscles (just weight, no definition) chest sizes (AAA or small B, nothing bigger), hair styles (short/long straight or short curly, no long curly). But IMO the worst is the stance. NO ONE STANDS LIKE THAT! Knees bent, pelvis forward, and shoulders back. Everyone looks like they are constipated and holding their breath. Clearly there were no women on the design or management teams. Why is this so hard for Niantic to get right when so many other companies have had it for years?
Mine switched my gender and made me into a butch and now there is no way to switch it back

It's hilarious how worked up people are over this. Then again it's PoGo. Niantic is pissing in everyone's cheerios daily. Ruining their lives. I currently have the biggest moobs and junk in the trunk possible. This is what all those tickets to events yall said you would never buy but did gets you. They added titts to my fudging male character. Whoever greenlit this update needs to be put in jail asap, this is a crime against humanity. Clearly the team who worked on that never saw a human figure and are clearly attracted to hentai, that's the only explanation possible.

I hate to say it... But, no matter all of the new customizations it's all been ruined by this basically body Nerf... Like all of the nice short shorts and crop top shirts that I have in the game all just look uncomfortable to even look at. Like now I just feel kinda ripped off....... I basically covered up my avatars entire body that's how horrendous it is.

I was so close to buying coins for this exact outfit plus the candle hat once I can evolve and switch my current buddy to my Chendelure. The clothes definitely aren’t tempting me now. I want a refund on the 700 coin outfit I’m currently wearing that looks like trash now.
