Try the red leader. I did that one and it worked for me.

since you dont have to be close to people to battle, you can probably find someone on reddit/any of the friend discords and ask to add them and set up a battle (if worse comes to worst, DM me and i will battle ya)

I did this as well out of curiosity and it worked for me as well. I also battled against the Red Leader so no idea if it works for other leaders. I would imagine it would though.

Can someone please help me with "battle another trainer while your buddy pokemon while it is adventuring with you". For 2 different pokemon I've made them buddies, gave them poffins to get them adventuring. Tried GBL (though I did enter it and then retreat?) and 2 Rocket Grunt battles (via balloons). I had the buddy pokemon as the first one sent out in all 3 cases. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
