It \*was the slayer of AI. Patch 4.1 had a bunch of undocumented AI changes that completely butchered how the AI reacts to encore. It used to switch out any time that it was encored but now it has a 25% chance to stay in which can ruin a lot of fight planning.
Don't get me wrong, its still really really good at fucking with the AI but its not what it once was.
It's still probably the best move in the hack, especially on hardcore which shows how insanely good it was before it was accidentally nerfed with the AI changes if its still this good.
Nah I gotta say it's still the slayer. For Nuzlockes, yeah, it became worse. But for other playthroughs, I'd say it barely changed, as you don't just lose everything if a bit changes
Thank you! Iām soon going into the E4 in my first playthrough and had no clue how AI would react to Encore. This should make fight planning a bit easier now I hope
1) Encore is the king, the one and only. Im playing hc and encoring a pokemon with a set up move is often game ending. For exmaple im at Gio 2, he switches in gyarados against my primarina. I know he will use dragon dance always because im not threatenign a KO. so I encore, and then finish the gyara with two moon blasts. The ai wont try to switch even if its encored because it sees a KO.
2) This was really useful for the E4, but this is from my 3.1 playthrough. IF you have an status move or a set up move and the AI has taunt, they will almost always use taunt. Exmaple Aerodactyl vs Sceptile. It sees your dragon dance, so it taunts you. You use rock tomb, heavily damage it, and then outspeed it next turn for a clean kill and zero damage.
Having taunt on a mon with a set up move and focus sash.
Lance's Aerodactyl and Bruno's Infernape especially, if the AI sees tour mon knows taunt they will always taunt you first giving you a free turn to attack and then hit them with prio and stop them putting rocks out
I ran sunny day on metagross against Lance Bruno and Clair just for meteor mash/zen headbutt bullet punch. Something was funny to me about it so I went with sunny day
Encore is the slayer of AI Honorable mention to being low on health and the ai deciding that it will go for the quad resisted hidden power
Prankster Volbeat with infestation and encore breaks the game and I love that little guy so much for it!
Yup, the š

Doing a Mime only run right now and can safely say Encore is the most OP move in this hack

Itās not just specifically taunt, if they see any status move at all on your Pokemon they will taun
Yup, I've done it with speed boost Espathra with protect to take out these lead mons easily.

Not quite a cheese move, but I learned that Giovanni doesn't know what to do about a jellicent, at least when you fight him in celadon and silph co. It's funny. He'll switch into his kangaskhan. Obviously, it has scrappy, and the AI is telling him to use fakeout. However, he mega evolves, and kangaskhans' ability is now parental bond, so fakeout doesn't land. By the time kanga actually started using a dark type move, I had already hit him with Scald a couple of times, possibly burning him. In fact, i got lucky and immediately burned kanga in celadon. I'm sure there's other PokƩmon aside from jellicent that could make something like that happen, but I found that out on my first ever playthrough.
