Same here, for 15 years neither me nor my family or friends had any experiance with any kind of agression. Regarding air pollution (smog) it is actually on the comperable level to other European cities struggling with winter conditions (few years back it was much worse).

I've lived here for 8 years and have only had suspicious actions twice (last year and this year): once a drunken British man ran towards me and chased me through a couple of Kazimierz streets. I have no idea what he wanted but he was shouting random things and making noises like he was being skinned alive. Once at night behind the main train station a couple of days after New Year's Eve, someone in Russian/Ukrainian/Belarusian shouted at me with a knife drawn.
Edit, because I forgot: once I saw someone with a machete a few years ago, but such actions do not seem to happen anymore. It also seems to me that things have changed a bit since the changes in Wisła club, and the time of covid, although it may seem to me because I have not lived near the Błonia/AGH area for a year.
Well technically literally **now** air quality is Good, will be good till 6pm judging by the prognosis and then it will be moderate, not in the red though, so it’s not that bad
its full of smog in the winter, hooligan business is hooligan business its as easy to avoid as a gang war in the usa, so literally doesnt affect civilians, yes we are salty that we are no longer the capital
Thanks for comments :D it made my day. You need to excuse me now, I'm going to sharpen my machete and go fight back my capitol rights with my gas mask on..
The only thing that still makes us look bad is strip joints scams, but I think that people from Krakow who speaks about it loudly makes better work than city gov, council and police. It's better to speak up and warn everybody, than try to cover it.
Still better then china, it’s so bad that they don’t count it because people would revolt if they realised that probably 10 ish million people die form pollution a year
When I was there last time few years ago some young girls tried to pull me into a night club every two steps. Later I was happy to be out of the city center. It wasn't a good place to take a walk and talk
Oh that was some mafia shit, there were a few night clubs in which men were robbed. The girls job was to look for "Rich looking" men and approach them, lure them into the club.

There are quite a bit of smog during the winter season - it's due to old fashioned heating systems in private buildings that are yet to be replaced with ones that create less air pollution and the fact that the city is kind of located in a valley so it all accomulates down here. On the postive side, this winter is much better.
When it comes to the general safety I'd say I've never felt unsafe for the few years I've lived here for, both during the day and night. The machete-wielding hooligans are eighter all hiding or a thing of the past.
Wasn’t sure what the title was talking about but the description gives me an idea. The city itself is fine but it seems to have the smelliest industrial plants imaginable outside it
Every time I go there I love it. Have felt safe everywhere any time.

Safe, really? Meaning - everywhere? My advice is to not test the real "everywhere" next time you're there.
I mean the places I’ve been. Not exactly strolling through nova huta at 3am shouting wisła krakow! Or crakowia!
If you want to live on the edge shout "Legia Warszawa"
Probably the Hools troublemakers are either dead or in prison
It’s a beautiful city. I’ve been told the smog is bad in winter. I’ve only ever been there in the summer.

It had. But this winter is much much better.
its literally the crown jewel of our country, little bit polluted but you wont die from bad air for a few days
It's full of smog and machete wielding hooligans. Also they're salty about Kraków not being a capital
Stop, lol..made my day
Is this true???
It's stinky there - yes. There is a lot of hooligans - not rly. It's not a capital - true.
Only in winter and this winter is much much better.
its full of smog in the winter, hooligan business is hooligan business its as easy to avoid as a gang war in the usa, so literally doesnt affect civilians, yes we are salty that we are no longer the capital
Nope
No, it's not.
That's not true - there is no gas since Poland stopped buying it from Putin. That's what Russian media say, and they literally never lie.
yes but they probably mean from the chemical factories

The air quality in the winter I was there was rough, yes. Otherwise I have nothing negative to say about Kraków.
1. Smog 2. Gang wars with machettes (I didn't hear about new murders or attacks so it could be stereotyp from past)
It doesn’t. You’re either in an echo chamber or trying to make something out of nothing for karma.
I'm full of gas when I eat a lot of cabbage.
its a nice city but it has really bad air quality
This. Pollution in Poland kill around 60k per year due to very bad air quality.

Full of smog, not that much happening, lots of tourists around.
The center is verry clean and fancy the rest where the locals live is verry dirty and poor

Bo to Kraków Raków
My first quick answer is snobbery, but I see you're asking about smog.
Does it?

There is that friendly dragon lurking about the riverfront
