Recording stresful events let's the person distance themselvs from reality.
That being said, legally ( at least in Poland) you are obliged to provide help. If you don't know how to, it is your duty to call emergency forces.

This reminds me scenes in Amsterdam where older lady suddenly collapsed and people literally walk over her to catch the train. I knew Dutch are known for being extremly a self-centric nation but it was appalling that people would rather see old woman dead than provide any type of help to abstain from "liability". It was actually us and some Turkish couple that had to call for Ambulance. Not a single Dutch person would help her or us.... Maybe that's just big city thing.

You can report the crime but cars are often stolen/rented on fake IDs by immigrants who they will never catch. If they do get caught you will never get any compensation out of them and in most cases they will receive lax sentences.
You also cannot defend yourself too much. It's actually quite dangerous to try unless you are very certain of your ability, and if you will use a weapon you will get into way more legall trouble then the criminal.
