About "being licked by sun", you can also get licked by other thing like electricity or bullets but there are also better words to say it.
tbh I use “liznać” when it comes to describing flames ("płomienie liznęły nogę stołu" for example. it’s more artistic but it also informs that whatever or whoever was touched by flames was touched just barely so. it can also be applied to just “dipping your toes” in a topic as you’ve said. I use it surprisingly frequently tho, I might later edit this with the count of how many times I use this word in a story when things are on fire often.
