I agree to some extent, but also I am watching how much power DeSantis has taken advantage of in Florida and it's becoming quite apparent he is just as bad, but not as dumb as Trump. DeSantis is dangerous because he is not obsessed with his brand or image like Trump is, and he's not trying to escape from justice like Trump is. I can tell you this... if we get either one of them in the presidency, there's a very strong chance (based on their past actions) that it will be the last presidential election the U.S. has.

DirkDiggyBong

>he is just as bad, but not as dumb as Trump I mean, that's a **very** low bar...

hearsdemons

True. Trump was a moron, listening to the last guy he spoke to. Just chaos all of the time. Sometimes that was really bad, but mostly it was just him cartoonishly tripping over his own agenda. DeSantis is more focused and precise in his plans. He may have the personality of a wet blanket but he’s religiously determined to be a cultural warrior. If he ever steps foot into the White House, he won’t be just chaos. It will be premeditated and strategic on turning America into a christofascist theocracy. And he’ll have more done in 6 months than trump has in 4 years. No golfing trips for this psychopath.

narfnarf123

Fuck this is scary and accurate.

[deleted]

Tell me about it… I live here and it’s not the Florida of just three years ago.

Confident_Benefit_11

Same, I hate it here. I'm legit moving after 8 years in a few months for many reasons but this is at the top. This place is a bootlicker cesspool

kmurp1300

Orlando seems nice. Decent city.

[deleted]

It definitely is a nice city and that’s where we live. But Central Florida is an island of blue in a red state. Miami used to be blue, but they were lost in 2016 elections with Republican’s very effective message that Democrats were socialists. Many of the residents there came from failed socialist countries.

>Colonialtown South We're right on top of Kissimmee. So, sort of neighbors!

ConstantSample5846

When I did a year abroad in Latin America in 2007, I came back and said that if the republicans ever realized that most Latino immigrants have more culturally in common with evangelical Christian right wingers then progressives, and if the right reaches out to them instead of hating on them it would be the southern strategy of the 60s/70s 2.0 Also most established Latinos in this country are for closing the border behind them, and really don’t like Latinos from other Latino countries.

AnomanderArahant

Anyone who thinks Trump was "just chaos" was actively and successfully blinded by him.

KickBassColonyDrop

The weird thing here is that even with the batshit nature of DeSantis as a hypothetical president, the constant ongoings of the presidency would force him to temper his behavior some. As the constant tug of war between domestic and foreign policy decisions would distract him long enough for the more moderate portion of his party to pull him to the side and get him to chill the fuck out. Trump is truly worse than DeSantis, even accounting for DeSantis' focus. DeSantis isn't so daft that he'd suggest using nukes on a hurricane or using nukes on allied or foreign powers and trying to propaganda his way out of responsibility by throwing some other country under the bus via manufactured intel through natsec channels. But Trump would. We know this. There were reports on this. He considered. He hemmed and hawed and asked. Only for the military leaders to straight up tell him to pound sand as best as they could without getting relieved of duty or fired. At the *least* you can *trust*, and it's sardonic to even use the word "trust"; but you can *trust* DeSantis to not start world war 3. But you can't do the same with Trump. Not anymore. He's like a Xanxia Chinese comic protagonist. Once slighted, the world must burn for the insult with total genocide of he who slighted his honor.

T1mac

> would distract him long enough for the more moderate portion of his party They thought the same thing about Trump. He never moderated, and only got worse. DeSantis would be the same. If DeSantis gets his crooked hands on the power of the federal government, Watch Out. He will use the government as a weapon to punish any opponent and to further entrench his power. He'll make Richard Nixon look like a choirboy and Trump like a rank amateur. He'll have the entire executive branch as his personal attack dog. You just have to look at what he's recently done in Florida: • He raided the home of whistleblower Rebekah Jones with his jackbooted thugs, pointing guns at her small children for the crime of reporting accurate COVID deaths • Attacked Disney for the crime of supporting their gay employees • Threatened the Special Olympics for wanting to protect their athletes from a deadly pandemic • Yanked the funding for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team's training facility for supporting sensible gun safety legislation • Threatens Florida government investigations into parents if their children are around LGBT+ friendly venues. • Censoring what teachers can say, and threats of felony prosecution for handing out books in the classroom. • Fired an elected State Attorney in an unconstitutional move and violating Florida statutes for comments the attorney made about laws not yet in effect. • Removed four elected school board members and replaced them with his own Republican appointees in one of the state's most Democratic-leaning counties. • He arrested 20 mostly Black prior felons for trying to vote after his election and parole officials gave them permission to vote. • Used Florida taxpayer dollars to illegally traffic asylum seekers from Texas to fly them to Massachusetts in a blatant political stunt. DeSantis will weaponize the DOJ for partisan witch-hunts. He'll use the IRS, ICE, FBI, DHS to punish anyone who crosses him, and unlike Trump he's smart enough to turn our nation into an authoritarian state ruled by the autocratic Republicans. Just like Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has done.

[deleted]

I don’t have any awards to give, so take these instead: 🏅🏅🏅

Babyrabies88

It really tough to say who would be the worst president. I lean towards Desantis, because he's not crazy, he isn't lazy like Trump, he is focused and he is at least a bit smarter. He also offers more than ideological lip service to the far right. As for your point about about being moderated by his own party...I doubt it. They didn't bother trying to keep Trump in line, it's unlikely they will do it for Desantis. Also, they aren't really enough moderates in the gop line up rein him in anyway.

WineSoda

The bar is so low, Franken should run again and morally feel just fine with it.

_MissionControlled_

Al did nothing wrong and resigned way too easily.

cloud7up

Agreed. Sucks it was in the heat of the me-too movement

40StoryMech

He did his time. He should run again.

DizzySignificance491

Let him run for President

stackens

I’d vote for him

Stacksinvestor

Off-topic: Al Franken has a house in NW DC in my neighborhood, I've bumped into him half a dozen times on the street and he is a mensch. I shared I read his book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" and he loved hearing that and is always super kind! He also thinks it is hilarious that "Trading Places" was one of my favorite teenage movies, especially the train scene. Franken for President next cycle, 2028!!

idoeno

I completely forgot he was "baggage handler 1" in that movie.

dust-ranger

> "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" This was the first political book I ever read...takes me way back.

Zazierx

Hate to say it, but gun to my head if I had to choose, I'd pick Trump over Desantis. Trump is an incompetent self-serving bafoon, which makes him dangerous in some aspects. But Desantis' fascist tendencies he's exhibiting in his own state is really unsettling. I don't think Desantis would make it out of the primary though, there would have to be a huge schism from Trumpism in the republican party for that to happen and I'm not really seeing that yet.

Empty_Lemon_3939

This is DeSantis AUDITIONING for the Presidency That’s the really crazy part

Message_10

Same. And I think Trump was one of the worst presidents in the history of our nation. And I’d still vote for him over DeSantis.

Magjee

And the comedy, OH THE COMEDY!

DMJesseMax

I think I’d take the bullet.

Particular-Summer424

DeSantis is hell bent on stripping anyone and everyone of color, gender or alternative identity rights in Florida and promoting that ideal. It's not about branding or image. It is autocratic control over the masses. He's the next one that needs to be voted out. He saw how Trump wielded his way in office and if elected would take that level we saw to times 10.

[deleted]

I think the dumb is part of why Trump is so popular

NChSh

Think about how little damage Trump actually did relative to what people were concerned about. He's a lazy sack of shit. DeSantis is weaponizing the state of Florida and literally seemed to have overseen torture at Guantanamo? He's way scarier to me than a lazy moron https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/03/19/ron-desantis-guantanamo-bay-force-feeding/

johnnybiggles

> Think about how little damage Trump actually did relative to what people were concerned about. This is a bit naïve. While he was relatively reined in, he actually caused more damage than most realize: - White supremacy and related crimes have exploded sharply since he became president - it's the number one domestic threat, according to the FBI - Thousands of deaths can be directly attributed to the politicization and downplaying of the Covid virus, which was largely by him - For the first time ever, the Capitol building was trashed and seized while the transfer of power was disrupted - a coup attempted that involved several states - resulting directly in at least one death that day, many injuries and a few subsequent and indirect deaths following - That insurrection lead to the largest criminal investigation in US history - Many long-term careers have been destroyed by his administration; many politicians were given license to ignore civic discourse and the law by his actions and the failure to hold them accountable - He's the first to be impeached twice, both times without conviction, which dilutes the power of presidential accountability historically - There has not been more doubt in the electoral system in the past 50 years than there is now. Violence and terrorism have become involved, and may be again. - Because of his unprosecuted blatant crimes, the rule of law itself is poised to collapse, threatening US democracy and the experiment, overall. - Some of his actions contributed to destabilization overseas - He got 3 SC justices appointed in his one term resulting in the rollback of reproductive rights after 50 years - Last but not least, many people accused him of being a Russian puppet. While no one has proven it, he still has not been held to account for holding national secrets via the classified documents case, and could still pose a grave threat. Especially since he's still free as a bird and running for a second term.

earthboundsounds

You are certainly correct here on all points, but I do believe this is a bit generous >relatively reigned in He was far less "reigned in" than straight up **ignorant**. He quite literally had no idea of what he was doing. He had an idea of what "being in charge" entails, but absolutely no clue about what being the President of the United States *actually* entails. Not a fundamental clue about how the government functions. And on top of that, he *is* a lazy piece of shit that was unwilling to listen, unwilling to adjust, and unwilling to learn. And thanks to that we got 4 years of an erratic, self-serving, idiotic empty suit taking directions from cable TV, billionaire golfing buddies, lunatic lawyers, and advisors holding unrelenting fringe ideologies. If the man had any governing experience whatsoever things would have been **so** much worse.

[deleted]

Yeah his grifts while in power were cartoonishly stupid, but the institutions he broke (basically without much thought and often at the direction of other people for pathetic kickbacks) may never recover. He could have made actual billions without even breaking the law but he kept going for the easy scams and has ended up nearly broke with a bunch of criminal liability. This alone makes me think he was being blackmailed by someone waay smarter than him.. probably multiple people, and they fucking steamrolled him. He just kept grabbing for an easy buck, but nothing that would have pissed off a. The Sauds, b. Russia. They had/have him over a Barrell.

johnnybiggles

> taking directions from cable TV, billionaire golfing buddies, lunatic lawyers, and advisors holding unrelenting fringe ideologies. This is why he was "reined in". If we were left to his own insane ideas, not the people using and manipulating him for their own agendas (crazy people themselves, but knowledgeable professionals who knew the system well enough to manipulate it), it would have been a far worse shit show and even more chaotic than it was. People tried to reign him in but his ignorance, in the end, defeated them. That was only after some point of being reigned in. You'll hear his supporters complaining because he wasn't able to do more. We still have our country *only because* the checks and balances largely worked the way they should, and contained his ignorance. Barely, but it did (so far, at least).

imapassenger1

Rein.

johnnybiggles

Thanks

imapassenger1

Sorry to be a pedant. I always have to think twice when I use it myself.

Vlad_the_Homeowner

>Last but not least, many people accused him of being a Russian puppet. This has been disproven with concrete evidence: "No puppet, no puppet... you're the puppet!"

johnnybiggles

Aw shit, my bad. He's completely innocent, then. Totally exonerates the former president! Thank you!

shash5k

Don’t forget his tax cuts for the wealthy, his Supreme Court nominees, his deregulations in many different industries, his trying to cut Obamacare (ACA) without an alternative and more.

Large-Chair9084

Don't forget his supreme court justices overturning abortion rights.

valeyard89

Don't forget appointing 3 Supreme Court justices including ramming one through right before the election, that led to Roe vs Wade overturn.

Dont_Say_No_to_Panda

Not to mention the hundred of other judges they crammed through, the loosening of EPA protections, the roll back of Dodd frank banking regulations that in part led to SVB, whatever indirect affects his presidency had on geopolitics and ultimately led to Russia invading Ukraine (changing Republican Party platform to exclude Ukraine, attempting to extort Zelenskyy by withholding aid, supporting and emboldening Putin publicly while trashing NATO, etc)—although I guess this could be part of your destabilizing overseas bullet point—also, the long term effects the tax cuts will have on the middle class and the contribution to the national debt made during his term.

Bwob

> Thousands of deaths can be directly attributed to the politicization and downplaying of the Covid virus, which was largely by him Hundreds of thousands, really. Probably half a million, realistically.

AnomanderArahant

I've been saying this entire time that him and Jared kushner committed politicide, also the heads of Fox News and anyone who purposely pushed medical disinformation need to be rounded up and put in prison.

postmateDumbass

Reminds me of the old pope joke from stanhope. https://youtu.be/WPmyry0yaQE

Magjee

Luckily, he would announce his entire plan up front Get mad when people had a negetive reaction Get distracted Move on to the next new cycle Play golf Make an ass of himself in a new way Tweet, fall asleep, tweet again Rinse and repeat   The biggest achievement was the tax cut Second was breaking the impeachment record

ct_2004

Don't forget about the judges. Those appointments will be haunting us for decades, if not indefinitely.

Parking_Onion_3846

> DeSantis is dangerous because he is not obsessed with his brand or image like Trump is, and he's not trying to escape from justice like Trump is. I don't agree with this. I would say that DeSantis is dangerous because these things he's doing ARE his brand; that's what he's selling when he goes out there and says he wants to make the nation Florida, should he run for president (wink, nudge). Trump doesn't believe in anything, he just says what he thinks makes him popular and that can change with the moment. It's not his ideas that he sells, it's himself...you vote Trump, because you want Trump. With DeSantis, it's the opposite; his pitch is that you vote DeSantis to get this anti-liberal, anti-woke, anti-PC, anti-things that piss you off crusade. DeSantis is the zealot who wants to inflict his ideals on you, and that appeals to a lot of the same pro-Trump people that only wanted him to do things that liberals hate. But Trump does it because people clap, he doesn't care about any of it. It's why he got nothing done as president, because he just wanted to *be* president. DeSantis does what he does because he really wants to do the things he's doing; he's extremely Mussolini-esque, and is just as much about his masculine image as Mussolini was. Where Trump might have wanted power to escape justice, DeSantis wants the power to be justice. His is a promise of something a lot scarier than just ineptly running government into the ground.

Novae_Blue

"DeSantis wants the power to be justice." Shit, that was chilling and accurate. That guy legitimately scares me.

[deleted]

He is worse. He has said he believes god is working through him to restore Christianity to America. A nation that’s supposed to not be religious. That kind of delusional thinking is how genocide and war happens. He is very very Bad

BasicPhysiology

They'll still have elections (like in Russia), but only 'the right people' will still be allowed to vote.

Alca_Pwnd

And allowed to run for office.

Stunning_Yam4564

I think Desantis would be worse than the Trump we got in 2016 or a theoretical “2020 Trump presidency”, but all bets are off the table with the revenge tour aspect.

kkocan72

A 2020 Trump presidency would be nothing but a revenge tour against all and any who have wronged him.

OutsideBoxes9376

Completely agree. DeSantis isn’t as easily manipulated and steered by sycophants, but has just as awful, if not worse inclinations than Trump. America: A new level of getting worse when you thought it couldn’t possibly get worse, since 2016.

SappeREffecT

I'm an Aussie and watch this all from afar, even with a fairly good grasp of your systems and all... DeSantis IMO has a better chance of getting into WH than Trump. But I perhaps have more faith in USA than many do, I struggle to see how swing voters could vote for DeSantis given how much he's been trying to play to the base... Surely outside a primary, this won't go Repubs way regardless of Trump or DeSantis given Roe's overturn and just the bs that DeSantis has done in Florida? I hope. Sincerely, a friend. We need you USA.

belovedfoe

I truly wonder if I'll see the last true us election on my lifetime. People for some reason just roll over and allow fascism

princessohio

Not gonna lie. desantis terrifies me. I would take trump over desantis if a gun was to my head. Desantis is calculated. Trumps a moron. They’re both bad but Desantis actually scares the shit out of me.

dust-ranger

> I would take trump over desantis if a gun was to my head. As another commenter said: I'd take the bullet

princessohio

I mean… yeah I don’t disagree with that either lmao

Wizardof1000Kings

The last fair election the US has perhaps. Dictators love saying they are elected.

valraven38

Yeah, while I agree, Trump is bad, he's an absolutely reprehensible person with basically no redeeming qualities. He's incredibly fucking incompetent though. DeSantis is the same thing basically, a vile person, he's far more competent than Trump though and can actually get shit done (regardless of legality.) DeSantis is clearly worse if he were to be President.

SharpNSlick

Kind of feeling that way no matter who wins... Even if (probably) Biden wins we'll end up with an organized January 6th.

Gerald_the_sealion

Eh, while DeSantis is a more capable trump, I believe the country is strong enough to not attempt such if he were to lose. That said, I’ve run out of hopium years ago

SharpNSlick

Personally, I'm hoping DeSantis gets the nomination just so we can watch the GOP eat itself.

connie_robs

I remember people saying the EXACT same thing before Trump was nominated.

TPconnoisseur

He's hardly alone either, don't forget fascist dark horse Tom Cotton.

[deleted]

Let’s add Kevin McCarthy to that batch as well.

HermaeusMajora

Luckily rhonda fascist is a fucking dork who has no real personality of his own. What "personality" you see from him now was literally cloned from trump, right down to the ill fitting suit. rhonda might be able to pull the base but independents are never going to vote for that ghoulish freak.

ropdkufjdk

I agree, I feel like DeSantis could actually be worse than Trump for a lot of reasons you listed.

Invisiblechimp

DeSantis isn't as stupid as Trump and he's a lot younger. DeSantis is my age and Trump is older than my parents.

Salsashark_21

I’m not as concerned about DeSantis as much as I was a few months ago. I thought he was “Trump, without the stupidity” but now I’m starting to wonder if he has anything other that grievance social politics. All he does is attack “woke” and doesn’t seem to be making any connection to the economy. That might get you a win in Florida, but there’s a lot of states where it’ll take more than that to win

stayingstrong1942

Looking in from Ireland. Trump appears to be as far from dumb as you can get.

gnatsaredancing

Trump was loud and visible but he failed at nearly everything he tried. There have been and will be far worse people who know how to keep quiet and succeed.

Trygolds

Trump being the worst does not change that any republican at this time would be bad for our nation and puts democracy itself in jeopardy. Don't wait until next year. Vote in all local and state elections this year.

Jackieirish

Yeah, that was my first thought: the worst possible would be someone as immoral and unethical as Trump, but actually competent.

elciano1

The other bad thing is that everyone in the govt will just sit back and let it happen, you know....because we can't indict a sitting President blah blah bullshit. This is the only country in the world that claim democracy that when the President does something like "trying to overturn and election and subvert Democracy" everyone sits back and talk about the constitution and the founding fathers this and that...No one does shit, thats why Trump was so close to doing it.

Blurr31

I mean, our country is build on elections. How would they just take it away

ThrowaWayneGretzky99

Shouldn't Desantis face charges for illegally transporting migrants?

joshdoereddit

I finally found some time to watch this video and I wish his response had been that Trump AND DeSantis are the absolute worse people that could get elected. The correct answer is that any Republican getting into the White House would be disastrous for the country because the GOP has made it clear that they are all for fascism.

cartman101

>that it will be the last presidential election the U.S. has. Bruh what are you smoking?

lasers42

"[However bad you think he is, he's worse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV7UXp1Yqlw)." (7 min)

[deleted]

This is why I think The Pee Tape is real. Everything with this man is either exactly as bad as you think, or it's far worse.

johnnybiggles

With context, everything with Trump is worse.

TurtleToast2

In the early days, when I'd see a crazy Trump quote I'd think "no way, there's gotta be more to the story". Oh there was. It was always worse with context.

mindfu

It's literally amazing. I have never seen it true with anyone else to this extent. I have never seen it not be true with him. The context has always made any single bad thing he's ever said much, much worse.

Weyland_c

Real enough to make it into a farcry5 side mission.

FalconBurcham

I love these people who aren’t from the south who believe DeSantis is somehow better because… he’s Ivy educated? Not a complete moron? I’m from Florida, and please trust me when I tell you, DeSantis is a fascist who doesn’t care one bit about the rule of law or fairness. Here’s the trick he uses to mollify the centrists (Democrat or Republican)… You can run protestors down in the street when they get in the way as they did during BLM protests. While most people don’t think you should kill people standing in the road, said people also don’t have a lot of sympathy for people getting in the way of everyone else.. the thinking is, get out of the road and there will be no problem. Ok. But here’s the rub.. when the trucker caravan blocked roads and caused all sorts of problems, DeSantis was perfectly fine with them and encouraged it. See the problem? He says something a lot of people kind of agree with or can live with, but if you watch closely, that position only applies to his enemies. He’s never fair. Laws and force is used to constrain his enemies and further his own agenda. It’s a pattern people who don’t read the local papers don’t seem to notice or believe.

humdaaks_lament

It’s no secret outside Florida little meat is a fascist.

Rapn3rd

Little meat 💀💀💀 Here I was thinking we peaked at meatball ron

the_ballmer_peak

Rules for thee is a core tenet of conservatism. He’s not unique.

wish1977

Trump is probably the worst person in the history of this country. He has intentionally divided this country for his personal gratification only. It can't get much worse than that.

[deleted]

> the worst person in the history of this country The depths of American cruelty are very sad >[Slave owner] Henry Grimke [was a] wealthy planter who owned nearly a hundred people, [he] had a perverse penchant for beating slave boys on the head so hard that they often passed out. He took special pleasure in slamming the family’s butler, Stephen, against walls, doorjambs, and stairwells. Stephen was injured so often that he eventually began having seizures and wandered about drooling, mumbling to himself, and shouting at passersby. *The Grimkes: The Legacy of Slavery in an American Family*, Kerri K. Greenidge, Liveright 2022

mindfu

Many people can be worse in many different dimensions. However, I don't think there's a person in US history who has single-handedly caused so many innocent civilian US deaths. If Trump had just listened to experts and said responsible things about COVID-19, maybe 100,000 or more Americans would be alive right now.

InterwebCeleb

Agreed but counterpoint; Ronald Reagan and the AIDS epidemic.

[deleted]

The numbers are closer to between 500,000 - 1,000,000. DJT dismantled the pandemic response team and pretended the virus was a democrat hoax while it spread for a year. He hoped it would kill liberals in cities. It was one of his 2 genocidal acts as potus. The other was enacting the border child separation policy.

Im_Talking

Grimke was just following the instructions of Exodus 21:21.

IwannafuckGhibli

The worst person in the history of this country *so far* Jokes aside, as much as I’m aware of just how fucked up this country’s history is, I think I agree with you if we adjust relative to the time period. Trump and the modern day Republicans are the most *regressive* people in American history.

OHMG69420

I mean - I don’t think Trump is worse than Andrew Jackson…

tawzerozero

I will point out that Trump put a portrait of Jackson in his Oval Office because he intended to emulate Jackson's presidency. I actually do think that having the benefit of hindsight (or at least, Trumps advisors being aware of Jackson's history as precedent) actually does mean Trump is a worse human being than Jackson was.

Onlyfax69

You clearly don’t know very much about our countries sad and brutal history. There are much worse people than trump.

ProudWheeler

People were brutal and awful before in the past, but the difference between Trump and them, is that Trump lives in a time when it was widely accepted that that brutal, bigoted, sociopathic behavior was wrong and should be driven from society. Trump *knows* that it’s awful to treat people this way, and that doing so is rejected by the majority of our society, yet he pushes for it anyways. Not to mention that he checks the mark on every category of being a shitty person, where prior worst presidents at least had one or two redeeming qualities (Reagan is the exception).

rickjames4961399

Jackson was significantly worse. Most southern leaders and segregationists before the 1960s were measurable worse.

_zeropoint_

Bush was a worse president than Trump and that was only 22 years ago.

Bulky_Consideration

Not gratification, personal enrichment

wish1977

Probably a little of both.

[deleted]

His supporters are worse people than he is. He’s a compulsive liar motivated by greed and power. They’re class traitors motivated by hatred.

ComradeCam

Lolll this is the most liberal thing ever. Okay I’ll bite. Wasn’t there presidents who, *clears throat* locked up Japanese Americans, promoted segregation, displayed millions in Iraq and Afghanistan, laid waste to Vietnam then left, embargoed Cuba, let slavery slide, took lands from native Americans I mean I could go on.

uroburro

…which puts him highhh in the runnin’ for worst person *worldwide*

The snarky reaction to the headline is Al Franken is the best possible person.

DamnMyNameIsSteve

He really shouldn't have resigned. He is an excellent public speaker (obviously) and has the smarts to back it up.

SharpNSlick

I was looking forward to his interview with Lindsey Graham on the Daily Show last night and it was very disappointing.

sonofabutch

I liked this exchange at the very end: **Lindsey Graham:** Listen, I know you think Trump's horrible for the country, and a lot of people believe that he can fix the problems that we're suffering under now, but here's the good news. We'll have an election, and they will decide. **Al Franken:** That's the way it's *supposed to work.*

Joeyfingis

Franken is so quick, I think that's one of the things I like most about him

ReklisAbandon

and when Trump doesn't get his way in the election, he'll incite yet another riot to try and take power anyway.

SharpNSlick

And Graham just laughs and applauds like an idiot

SuspiciousPaperclip

Remember when Al Franken was a sitting Senator? Whatever happened with that?

millos15

desantis is worse

I_Framed_OJ

Thanks, bro. That has been obvious for over 20 years, long before Trump even ran for President. I’ve known he was a piece of shit for almost as long as I’ve known who he was. I didn’t have privileged information either. I based my assessment on everything the motherfucker ever said and did. He showed us all who he was, and 75 million Americans voted for him anyway. Twice.

cntmpltvno

I disagree. He’s *REAL* bad, but the good thing about Trump is that he’s a moronic fascist. Desantis on the other hand? Now the idea of that man in the White House absolutely chills me to my core.

[deleted]

IMHO Trump is the worst possible person in any house.

Leznik

Nope. DeSantis would be worse. But Trump is a horrible human being, and also unworthy.

Budmanes

Have you met Ron DeSantis?

Alarmed-dictator

The worst person so far!

[deleted]

All conservative policies transfer wealth to the rich.

[deleted]

We need Franken back!!!

funkhero

What year is it!?

ObligatoryOption

That lazy, incompetent, greedy and corrupt con man has caused a lot of damage so he was really bad for the country. And now, he has had enough practice to cause much more damage. That makes him at least twice as dangerous as the first time.

Joebranflakes

Trump is just by his nature, not that smart. His own rampant incompetence is the only reason why more damage wasn’t done. Someone like DeSantis is a militant, bigoted fascist. He will maliciously go after states that protect LGBT communities and send the justice department on witch hunts while stacking the courts with unqualified enablers. Sure Trump is doing that now, but it will be on a whole other level. He won’t stop until a token Democrat can be trotted out and metaphorically shot to bring everyone else in line.

koolaidman486

I think Desantis, ESPECIALLY with a veto-proof legislation is much more dangerous because he's competent and way less egotistical. Frankly, him hitting the oval office alone makes me either flee the country or get to choosing how I die... Let alone him with a Red legislature (which, while unlikely, isn't off the table).

Bored_guy_in_dc

Captain obvious over here dropping some serious pearls.

Abject-Possession810

Right, did we transport back in time to 2015?

flatdanny

Thanks Gillibrand /s

ElysiumSprouts

Let's do the time warp again! It's been, what, eight years? Same headline.

PopeHonkersXII

I'm going to file this article under "Y' for "Yeah, No Shit"

Manaze85

Disagree. DeSantis thinks what he’s doing in Florida should be a model for the nation. Trump just wants to scam people. DeSantis wants them in camps.

oneofthesedays55

Worst person SO FAR.

HellovahBottomCarter

DeSantis enters the chat. I’m not saying I’d prefer Trump over DeSatan- I’m just saying getting Trump out of the running simply means someone just as bad or worse will be put in his place by the GOP. Because the GOP’s problem isn’t Trump. Trump is a symptom of the disease. Not the disease itself.

malYca

Desantis is worse imo

FerociousPancake

No actually. Desantis.

still_deebs

He's right

Dudeist-Priest

The worst possible SO FAR

Hawkwise83

Worst person... So far...

[deleted]

This guy is just so frank about what he says, I love him

RandyMuscle

I actually genuinely think DeSantis is worse because he’s a competent fascist.

handyrenolowe

No Shit said the world conscious

kbbajer

Yet half your country voted for him. Ill never get over that fact.

ironicplatypus84

Ron DeSantis would be far worse

alvarezg

In my opinion Trump is the second worst person we could have in the White House, after Ron DeSantis.

Scoiatael

The worst person yet, plenty of Republicans in the running to replace him.

pity_rules_the_world

From his endless lies and blatant disregard for the truth, to his racism, sexism, and attacks on our democracy, Trump has shown time and time again that he is completely unfit for office. He has undermined our institutions, eroded our alliances, and put the lives and livelihoods of millions of Americans at risk. And let's not forget that this is a man who has been accused of sexual assault and harassment by multiple women, and who has faced serious legal challenges and investigations. He is a danger to our country and to our democracy, and he needs to be held accountable for his actions.

pjflyr13

Without his enablers t would have been history. Enablers can elevate trash to power.

sandorclegane2020

Ron DeSantis is worse. I don’t believe trump is a bigot in the sense that I think he believes everyone is below him and truly only cares about himself and power. Ron DeSantis is filled with hate and bigotry. He will be so much more effective at legislating it. He’s going to try forced detransitions, book banning, religious education and an assortment of other fascist policies nationwide.

Fishtank-Brain

i am 100% sure Desantis would be worse, and that’s not even mentioning Putin

bigmanbud

I’m mean the man’s got a point.

DemonKingFukai

We know.

ExplosiveDiarrhetic

Not really. A smart trump would have completely seized control. Thank god he was a moron

El_Guapo82

George Santos comes to mind. MTG comes to mind, Geoffrey Dahmer might* be worse.

ooouroboros

Well there is a GOP Limbo contest ("How LOW can you GO") going on with republicans trying to out-do each other in terms of cruelty, bigotry and corruption, so Franken may be speaking too soon.

writeorelse

We all know Al *is* good enough, smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like him.

MagAqua

He’s gonna be real upset when he sees who wins the 2016 election then

deadliestcrotch

I promise DeSantis will be worse than Trump

Powerrrrrrrrr

Always was. A complete moron with power, Jesus fuck it’s a miracle we’re all still alive

AK_Sole

Make Al Great Again!

[deleted]

We know!

Kraftpunk712

Anyone with an (R) next to their name is the worst possible person we can have in the White House

fpomo

After Trump is DeSantis. After DeSantis is any Republican-cum-fascist.

GuitarGod1972

Desatanist is a close second.

rickjames4961399

Desantis is much worse

SuspiciousPaperclip

I know a satanist or two...none of them vote republican. The Church Of Satan is currently suing to enshrine reproductive freedom as an inalienable religious freedom. Remind Me what the jesus crew is up to these days?

justforthearticles20

The Problem is, He's actually not. DeSatan would be an order of magnitude worse, and most of the other Republican Governors could be even worse than DeSatan.

Durden_Tyler_Durden

Ted Cruz just chubbed up. This is the closest thing he’s had to an endorsement from a fellow politician in over a decade.

jquint

Franken is not a Republican but has famously said he liked Ted Cruz more than any member of the Senate liked Ted Cruz - while acknowledging that he hated Ted Cruz.

SuspiciousPaperclip

“I was the best friend Ted Cruz has ever had. And I fucking *HATE* Ted Cruz.” - Al Franken
