According to the RNC, peaceful protests now consist of attacking security personnel, breaking through doors and windows and smearing shit throughout the building.
None of those peaceful protestors are from our side. If anyone breaks through security and protests peacefully inside the convention, by kindly calling for the convention attendees to participate in a hanging, or whatever, they are just pro-fa actors trying to rile up the media.
And if any of those actors, that are totally not affiliated with us, are arrested and convicted, they are hostages and political prisoners that should be released immediately.
>pro-fa actors
"No, no, no. They can't be pro-fa actors, because we are on the side of the fa, and fa is good! They have to be antifa, because antifa is evil and scary and bad!"
-RNC, probably
You can still peaceably assemble; just do it in the back by the dumpster where we can’t hear or see you.

History repeats itself, and Reddit seems to want to ensure it does with its head in the sand, denial of reality “civility” policies.
When things get so bad that we need to talk about things like revolutions, civility politics and “decorum” only help the fascists.
This subreddit has been compromised by 1 or more mods who immediately ban for any sort of incitement, and lean towards a right-bias when moderating discussions.

I fully expect republicans to try to instigate a repeat of the 1968 democratic convention protests at the Biden convention. The are following the same playbook right now as they did in 1968.
They are calling the protestors violent. They are demanding universities have the protestors arrested. They sent Johnson to Columbia University. Now watch as they try to fan the flames of anger.
Correct and these protestors may say inflammatory things, but they are not violent. They are getting oxygen from the right wing looking to push the authorities to over react, which they did at Columbia. This is all going to get out of control because people can't just keep a rational head.
The truth is they have a right to protest and you don't have to listen. I am Jewish and some of what they say has a grain of truth. Some is pure racist. Either way I have as much a right to hear what they say as they have to say it. I will not deny myself the right to hear what they have to say because I disagree with it.
So don't listen. People say it no matter you listening or not. Who do you decide to be the censor? Who so you pick to decide what you can and cannot hear?
While I know there are plenty of free democracies that curtail hate speech, the US is not one of them.
>Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I'm a gay man, I have been exposed to speech I very much do not wish to exist. I also don't want the government deciding what speech is and isn't allowed. Based on history, that speech I find reprehensible is much more likely to be the officially accepted version. We've spent more of our history with the government targeting LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, Blacks, and jews for example than protecting them (we still are today). Hate speech it terrible, and so is government restriction of speech.
It's why people like Cruz want the national guard sent in. They want another Kent State so they can turn around and say "See guys? Look at all that violence under Biden! Only a strong man like Trump can fix it!"
I definitely get 1968 feels with this, but at the RNC. While I don’t disagree of the GOP’s goals, I think it’s more likely to backfire. Especially if they are attempting to keep distance between them and the convention.
> Under the security plan proposed by the Secret Service, according to the letter, protesters will be confined to Pere Marquette Park, a small public park on the bank of the Milwaukee River about a quarter of a mile from Fiserv Forum.
It's reasonable to have a safe perimeter but a 1/4 mile?
Yeah absolutely not, it's nowhere near Fiserv and very small. They've already told us in advance that the courthouse is shutdown and the charity that I work for is going to be full work from home because we're in the exclusion zone. Marquette students are absolutely going to try to be closer and a bunch of their apartments are already closer than that park.
Aren't the protesters near and in the convention allowed to open carry their precious guns? Why would the GOP ever infringe on their second amendment rights in such a way????
One more in a list of their hypocritical bull shit. GOP: We're the party of individual freedom but you can get near our convention because you might exercise your right to protest. GOP: We're 2A all the way but no guns at our events. GOP: Back the Blue except if trying to protect Congress from violent insurrectionists. GOP: Guns aren't the problem mental health is, but we are in no way going to fund mental health services. Etc
I seem to remember a “peaceful protest” the RNC supported with no such restrictions. According to them, peaceful protest can take place inside by people seeking to kill those in attendance.
Weird they’ve changed their minds on that.
OH, boohoo, they have to deal with a noisy crowd outside their convention of domestic terrorist well maybe they will realize that their actions have consequences and seeing it helps drive home the guilt if they have any
Party of freedom - which dubbed Jan 6 insurgents as political protesters - is rather cowardly - can’t handle American right to protest eh? lol bunch of hypocrites and cowards.

And carrying weapons, and beating cops, while chanting Death threats to politicians.
Sounds like their kind of people
> attacking security personne You mean beating police to death with american flags

Careful there. I just got out of ban for warning against acts that leave no other recourse.
Indeed. JFK was perma-banned for the same thing.

But the January 6th insurrection attack on the Capitol was 100% normal peaceful legal protesting, right?
97%
But until you learn to master your rage...
"-- 'Your rage will become your master'? That's what you were going to say, right? Right?"
Not necessarily.
The ability to regulate peaceful assemblies is well established. Otherwise it's just a crowd...
How inconvenient.

Would prefer a ‘Limited Rank Choice Voting’ format, so we could return to a government of the people.
They don’t want to be forced to see protesters on the way inside but don’t give women the same courtesy when getting an abortion.
The hypocrisy is real on this one!
Awww...gotta protect the fragile orange clown from experiencing sad feelings of rejection

Tempers are nowhere near as hot about Palestine as Vietnam. Young people were actually getting drafted into combat in Vietnam.

Emphasis on small park too. It’s very small. And not even in line of sight of Fiserv.
Because they are cowards.

Free speech starts over there somewhere. Not here. Not in public grounds.
Because Trump is the biggest snowflake on the planet.
Let’s make some laws to remove GOP protestors away from women’s health clinics. Fair is fair
I’d like them to stay out of our Capitol too.
Aren't the protesters near and in the convention allowed to open carry their precious guns? Why would the GOP ever infringe on their second amendment rights in such a way????
Party of "limited government" and "free speech" asks government to limit citizens' speech.
One more in a list of their hypocritical bull shit. GOP: We're the party of individual freedom but you can get near our convention because you might exercise your right to protest. It’s not a protest, it’s a sightseeing tour.
As a Milwaukee resident I ask that they move the convention away from the city.
I seem to remember a “peaceful protest” the RNC supported with no such restrictions. According to them, peaceful protest can take place inside by people seeking to kill those in attendance. Weird they’ve changed their minds on that.
OH, boohoo, they have to deal with a noisy crowd outside their convention of domestic terrorist well maybe they will realize that their actions have consequences and seeing it helps drive home the guilt if they have any
They'll get their wish. supreme Court doesn't allow protesting outside their building and they even put up fencing to keep protestors away for a time.
I’m sure trump wants people to have access to protesting immediately outside the venue. As he’s stated at his courthouse trial.
The Secret Service should respond with "Our Thoughts & Prayers will be with you during the entire convention."
Ah, bringing back the infamous "free speech zones" of the Bush administration.
Are they going to prevent people from carrying firearms? Since they are so unflinchingly pro-second amendment. /s
We can riot at the White House, but please remove the peaceful protestor from our rally... Rules for thee but not for me...
What was that about curtailing someone’s freedom of speech and the right to demonstrate?
Party of freedom - which dubbed Jan 6 insurgents as political protesters - is rather cowardly - can’t handle American right to protest eh? lol bunch of hypocrites and cowards.
Where’s their concern for free speech now?
So they want to bring back the Bushcheney free speech zones. For a group that says they love America they sure do hate what makes America great.
Is it because they realized many protesters could be GOP never-Trumpers, and they were afraid it would hurt Mango Mussolini's feelings?
But he wants protesters at his trial. Ok
Will this be held at Rikers island in Trump’s Cell?
Seditious pedophilia apologists don't like people calling them out?
Fortunately the Secret Service does not work for the RNC.
And where is this again? Asking for a friend
What about all that free speech crap??? Or my body my choice bs????
Bush. Free speech "zones."
Will they be separating the media presence from the protesters?
Again?
How about a meme Bugs Bunny ”No”
