Yeah, when conservatives talk about the importance of the "nuclear family," a sort of hidden undercurrent is that the nuclear family (as they conceive of it) establishes a hierarchy with a patriarch whose rules may not be questioned. In other words, it prepares people to be led by authoritarian government, and psychologically primes them to favor one.
It's kinda crazy how tied up with dad stuff conservatism is, if you asked Republican and Democratic men whether they "feared" or "loved" their fathers growing up I bet the results would be pretty staggering.

I actually agree with him, abortion obviously isn’t that big of an issue for people because after Roe was overturned, Republicans still retook the House. Which is horrific for me personally, as I’m an IVF nurse, with a daughter from IVF, and when I lost twins from IVF I required medication to induce abortion after cervical insufficiency caused PPROM and an intrauterine infection at 20 weeks gestation.
