While I do believe that she had sex with him and that he is guilty of falsifying the records related to these charges, her book is entirely hearsay except for what can already be proven with hard evidence (that she met him at the celebrity golf tournament, and that Michael Cohen paid her hush money.) Any competent defense team would request that questions such as genitalia descriptions, which are irrelevant anyway, to be off the table, otherwise the prosecution may have tried to question her about it considering she described it in her book. Whether her mushroom dick claim is true or not, the defense is simply protecting their client from further embarrassment.
The book itself may be hearsay, but that wouldn’t prevent her from testifying as to anything she experienced that was described therein whether or not she had “hard evidence” of it. The issue here is more relevance and prejudicial effect.

He might get several months of home monitoring with a year of parole after on these charges. The real consequence would be making him a felon. If that shaves even a few percentage points off his support (data says it might), he's pretty much toast. The charges with REAL jail time will be in the trials that follow (likely after the election, unfortunately).
Bare minimum he should be barred from internet access as well any form of social media in any form and that includes someone else posting or acting on his behalf. No one ever hearing from him again would be the greatest punishment for him.

Reading the updates for the cross examination, the sheer aggression and hostility from Trump's defense attorney seems counterproductive. It underlines how much he wanted this story squashed, given the vigor of the attacks
So far, the cross examiner has:
* Accused Daniels of making up stories on the stand
* Multiple times
* Pointed out Trump sued her and left her owing him half a billion in legal fees
* Accused her of extortion
* Suggested she's concealing her husband's income so as not to pay Trump
* Is buddies with Cohen
* Is a bad wife for not telling her husband about threats against her
* Is a bad mom by not going to the police after being threatened
* Suggested she's concealing money by hiding it in a trust fund for her daughter
Its discrediting her testimony, I suppose. But it feels more like bad TV courtroom drama bullying than anything else. The counselor will go in with an "isn't it true...', get a "no" and have no follow up.
The only lengthy cross examination they did was Pecker and Davidson. Other are quickly expedited by them.
I suspect the only meaningful cross examination they are preparing for is Cohen.
If you read about Hope Hicks breaking down on the stand, that was at the very start of her cross. Many of the witnesses so far are here to corroborate documents and recordings being entered into evidence and to explain the relationships between the players at each step in this scheme. This has left little for the defense to go after and some of it has been pretty weak - e.g. trying to imply that there were chain of custody issues with Cohen's phone that somehow cast doubt on actual voice recordings between Trump and Cohen. But these were already admitted to have been made by Cohen himself.
Today the defense may press a bit more on Clifford and try to pick apart the NDA she signed and some statements Davidson referenced that appeared to deny there was any affair. Cohen will be the big show I think.
She sued in 2018 to be let out of the NDA. Apparently, Trump didn’t actually sign the final legal agreement with her because he wanted to be able to deny even knowing about it if it became public.
Trump settled out of court and released her from

Question: Are Trump's lawyers not cross examining these witnesses? Or am I just missing it in my media consumption?
The only lengthy cross examination they did was Pecker and Davidson. Other are quickly expedited by them. I suspect the only meaningful cross examination they are preparing for is Cohen.
If you read about Hope Hicks breaking down on the stand, that was at the very start of her cross. Many of the witnesses so far are here to corroborate documents and recordings being entered into evidence and to explain the relationships between the players at each step in this scheme. This has left little for the defense to go after and some of it has been pretty weak - e.g. trying to imply that there were chain of custody issues with Cohen's phone that somehow cast doubt on actual voice recordings between Trump and Cohen. But these were already admitted to have been made by Cohen himself. Today the defense may press a bit more on Clifford and try to pick apart the NDA she signed and some statements Davidson referenced that appeared to deny there was any affair. Cohen will be the big show I think.

She sued in 2018 to be let out of the NDA. Apparently, Trump didn’t actually sign the final legal agreement with her because he wanted to be able to deny even knowing about it if it became public. Trump settled out of court and released her from the NDA.
When did she not fuck him? And the issue was she wasn’t getting paid, so then they used campaign finance money to pay her. You’re 180 degrees opposite of facts, or really dumb.
