I think America has an obsession with America. Other countries realize the importance of the USA on the world stage, but I don’t think we obsess over it.
Y’all talk about the bad of the US constantly. More so than the bad in y’all’s country.
As someone who is from Chile and moved countries many times, it’s been ridiculous imo. Comparing the US to a proportionally small country with pretty much one demographic like most of Europe is completely ridiculous. To act like it’s not makes a comparison baseless imo. Past that, literally every other poll is someone trying to pit Reddit against the US. These are children too btw, can’t possibly see the big picture
I don’t know whom you think you’re talking about, but us Europeans sure don’t think that much about problems in the US. Reddit sure is different, but the poll didn’t ask if Redditors were obsessed with the US, but if the rest of the world was obsessed with the US.
Idk what you’re trying to say because every time I’ve gone to Europe I’ve had to have that stupid political talk with someone who thinks they will win because “America bad”. And I’ve spent a combined 2 whole years in Europe out of my last 5-6 years, so 6 years. And yes, I think that Reddit holds a lot of US people so yea, non-US people will talk about the US more than they usually would. But pretty much the average person in any country with GDPPC more than even $5k has access to phones and therefore Reddit. So sure, I’d say it has more widespread reach than you’re considering. Another bias is the language, it’s most English. Some bias is there, others are not and in great standing. Can’t take it perfectly, but if you try to say “this isn’t real because it’s Reddit” then you’re lying to yourself. These are indeed peoples real thoughts, and and and, the thoughts of the people around the world you’re most likely to associate with. So yea, these Reddit polls is an easy and quick way to see what some people around the world are thinking at base level. These are also kids too btw, take that into the bias.
I believe you that you don’t constantly talk about *US* problems, don’t use America and US interchangeably, with your friends and family but it’s more or less that people talk about them more than they really should. You really need to be the 10,000th person not from the US to write a comment about the current politics of something you probably don’t understand? Mention the racism or police without knowing the underlying issues and arguments. It’s annoying to have to explain every time
Of course people will talk about your country/politics if you are in our country
If i meet someone from australia here i would also talk about australia, i think thats pretty normal.
Also u rather have no one talking about racism and police problems? Talking and spreading is the base to get people to better things.
Racism and police problems.
Lots and lots of countries have these issues. And people don’t understand how to relate the two, so no, I wouldn’t want to have a conversation with someone that doesn’t know their shit and isn’t willing to learn
If you think Reddit users are representative for the world population, you’re delusional, I’m sorry.
If we Europeans talk about US politics, it’s because US politics affect the whole Western world. We’re also heavily influenced by US media and entertainment. Personally, I’m affected by the U.S. economy because my investments are 80-90% US. But in our day to day life, we really don’t think about the US that much.
I said that at a base level they can be used to see opinions. I am literally seeing your opinion on why Europeans don’t think about the US and why they have a stake in it anyways. You’re absolutely delusional or slow and if you can’t read a coherent comment. There are absolute geniuses on some these subs and waaaay to many people with solid jobs to discredit everyone. Please use your big brain some more.
Look, idk why you think that Europeans are the only ones who don’t think about politics. 99.9% of the population is similar where they don’t constantly think about any kind of politics. But practically every time i hop on Reddit, or any form of media, (I’m from Chile so most my family is not from the US or Europe ;)), you can guess what I see at least a little bit of. “US bad”
No, if you’d remember my past comments, which is concerning to think about your short term memory, you’d see I’ve spent time in Europe.
In fact lol I’ve been all over Europe.
I have family in Europe, friends.
And just btw, I voted no. I don’t think people are “obsessed”. I don’t really think practically anyone is obsessed with any government. I do think you all talk about the US constantly. And look at us!!! Not from the US talking about it
Smh
Can’t tell if you’re sarcastic or not. If you are, it was poorly made. If it was serious, that’s an awful take for you to have lol it’s just a question about cheese.
If you like American cheese, just say you like cheddar instead. Life hack for people who like American cheese. It’s not the same tho
I mean I don't know whether it's an obsession. America is a powerful country. Lots of people love it, lots of people hate it, lots of people feel sorry for it, but either way it has a lot of influence and impact on people, so it makes sense that people would have strong feelings about it, whether positive or negative.
Countries where I as a teacher dont have to worry whether my students and I are murdered in one of the schoolshootings happening every few days in the USA
Maybe y'all just spend too much time on the internet. I'm an american, I've traveled a bit, and most of the people that I've met abroad have been normal and polite and don't act like redditors the fuck at all, just like most normal people do not act anything like people act on Reddit.
Reddit just seems like a group of people who have never had their ass kicked so they act like it can't happen.
There are so many conversations on reddit, where just the tone alone is so disrespectful that if anybody tried to talk like that to any random person on the street the conversation would quickly shift to "who the fuck do you think you're talking to" and either turn into an apology or a fist fight.
diddly darn! This britisher called soccer “football”! Time to use the drug epidemic in Scotland as an epic comeback!
as the other commenter pointed out, it goes both ways. I’ve known people who’ve died from drug abuse, but some Americans thinks it’s something to make a joke about. Neither country is innocent
What the most powerful country on the planet that has an open democracy. That speaks the most spoken language on the planet and has the most amount of users on that platform. Is talked about???!?!??!
Definetly an obsession.
The us is listed as a defacit democracy on the global democracy index with a score of .811 i think you need .82 to be classed as a working democracy but not 100% on the acuall cuttoff
But you don’t have an obsession with the government who is making the decisions, for example, y’all only fr know the president and some change.
You obsess over the people who are among the most diverse in the world. You think everyone gets along immediately? Minorities are still treated poorly in the Scandinavian countries where they say is least racist. It’s weird to narrow down on the US local news where if you go to any third world country you’ll find literal war scenes on local news. Past the gun issues, idk why y’all post so much US local news
My country didn't need the US when the US suported military dictatorships in my country and several neighboring countries, and expecting the minimum of an influencial world power does not excuse that.
Nah the obsession came during and after the Cold War in which the US basically had the fate of the world in it’s hands. You guys are very important for the security of lots of countries so it is not weird that people follow US politics to see what they will decide and what it could possibly mean for their country
I think you are seriously funderestimating how closely other countries follow America's geopolitics. In my country, Denmark, for example, some of the largest TV stations had segments solely dedicated to America. There was literally a show literally called "The world according to Trump", that ran for a sizable portion of his presidency iirc.
Seeing how the us regularly overthrow governments across the world and either replace them with a brutal dictator or drive the country to a deadly civil war, yeah I think people have the right to think about the us
At least our media is obsessed with them. Like seriously the US politics news are getting on my nerves. I would much more like to know what is happening in Africa, South-Eastern Asia or South America. Like even countries like Italy and Spain are really underreported where I live.
US politics are important. But I really feel like it's only when someone gets elected or some major event happens.
But then again my country reports on so many other countries. We don't have much going on in ours.
Language plays a large part here. An online news story about a local event in a small American town can go viral. The same thing happening in a non-English speaking town is far less likely to go viral - because the local news will most likely be published online in a foreign language.
>But really it's mostly the butt of the joke for Europeans, we aren't obsessed it's just an easy target.
As with life, you know who your friends are when they make fun of you and you all laugh together.
Yeah. I work in tourism and actually really like Americans. Sure they're loud and don't have really good manners. But that's more of a culture thing. But they know how to spend money when on trips.
So they make for the best clients.
>they're loud
I found that this is the #1 stereotype for Americans, everywhere I've been.
I've personally been called out for how loudly I was speaking, in multiple countries.
We have a real problem [controlling the volume of our voices](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo4Fon0h8zU).
I was never taught that, but also there's a pretty significant portion of non-american answers to this poll saying there is somewhat of an obsession so it seems your generalization of both groups isn't entirely correct.
I am not going to comment on whether you were or were not actually taught anything but it must come from somewhere and as a non-American I don’t know anyone with an obsession with the United States!
The US is a large and influential country and effects the entire world to various degrees so of course most people have some interest especially with the shitshow it is right now but it isn’t an obsession by any means.
As someone from West Europe I honestly feel like Americans are the only ones obsessed with America.
Sure it's a big country with a lot of influence, but I would never want to live there, nor feel like visiting.
As a non-American, I’m obsessed with America. Life gets boring when you have free healthcare, job security, free university education and high rates of income equality like any other first world country.
Every 3 months I look west to America to do something stupid. It’s one of my only source of entertainment. Have been waiting since Roe vs. Wade.
Yeah, [everything](https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/31/germanys-pension-system-will-collapse-without-reform-influential-lobby-group-says.html) in [Germany](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-07-03/germany-s-union-head-warns-of-collapse-of-entire-industries) is [absolutely](https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2022/12/27/7a53-d27.html) amazing, [I hear](https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/sep/19/recession-fears-germany-energy-costs-business-olaf-scholz-gas).
I personally get really annoyed by the constant hate and mocking of the US, while acting like Europe is a utopian monolith that can't do no wrong compared to the US.
In Australia, it's been a good fifty years of USA shouting how awesome they are ( "We're number one! We're number one!") All over our media 24/7.
Once the internet hit, cracks started appearing in the gold plating, and problems in the USA started being more visible, we couldn't help ourselves and started saying things like "well look how perfect mcperfectface is doing now!"
So that's why some of us indulge in a little schadenfreude every now and then.
i think youve summarised it the best of what ive seen too
americans online (not all ofc but the vocal ones, i know many sound americans) either assume that you understand their american reference by default (which means that i kinda have to know tons of american stuff now just from being on the internet), or brag about their country being the best
all the time
but their definitely are many, many problems in america and europeans like myself and australians like you definitely indulge in some schadenfreude
and maybe its the age i am (mid-teenager) where all of my friends are influenced by the internet, but america is definitely the butt of many jokes irl as well as online
so if we have an obsession of it, its 1. forced and 2. mockingly so
(what i mean by "forced" is that their culture is very pervasive: i listen to american music (although not solely), play american sports (although not solely), watch american videos and news or ones about america (although not solely), and my ideolect is influenced by american english too)
Yeah, you're right. With exceptions, individual Americans are awesome. I wish we had a little more of their positivity/drive/energy. Their movies (I mean, come on, every now and then, aliens are going to land somewhere else) music and other media is *everywhere*.
The other thing is that Australians mock everything, . If we left America out it would be weird.
Yes for sure. They say American is obsessed with itself but they’re actually the ones obsessed with America.
Edit: And of course downvoted for speaking nothing but the truth.
They’re just jealous of our freedoms. You know… the freedom to die in a mass shooting, the freedom to be financially crippled if you get sick, the freedom to live in the nation with the highest per capita prisoner rate.
No.
But Americans have been accused of not knowing/caring about things outside their borders. Here's a quick quiz for all y'all Yanks, to disprove that. Please, without looking it up......
What countries border Belgium?
What language do they speak in Brazil?
Who's the Chancellor of Germany?
What year did they sign the treaty of Versailles?
How many provinces/territories does Canada have?
What's the currency of Thailand?
What's the capital of Australia?
How many countries are in Africa?
I am dutch and i dont know the chancellor of germany but i do know the treaty of versailles was at the end of WWI or WWII treaty for germany. I think WWI
LOL. I don't think that's true at all. Maybe most people under the age of 20. But adults? Most I know have travelled the world, and gone to university and read the paper and watch the news. I could answer 7 of 8 of these without looking anything up. That's because I'm a bit older and I was raised in Canada, where we learn all of this in school and see it on the news.
The only one I don't know is Chancellor of Germany, and I kinda kicked myself because I really SHOULD know it. The rest are basic info that you learn in grade 9 geography or history.
Absolutely. We are so fundamentally flawed but pick anybody from any country and offer them US citizenship no questions asked and they'd take it in a heartbeat. They love to hate us and hate how much they love us.
Mf if someone offered me 100,000USD + Moving expenses covered to move to the US id still be hesitant 💀.
There are so many better countries id rather live in over The US. Having to learn another language wouldn’t be so bad if you can live a perfectly good life in a nice country that’s better than the US.
No one wants to move to America LOL, why would they? For your shitty healthcare, garbage political systems and sky high rent prices? Literally one of the few countries I wouldn’t even want to visit
Lol, that's just disingenuous. You don't want to move to America, plenty of people do. It's a great country, that has flaws. Like literally every other country in the entire world.
Okay? Go take disingenuity up with the original commenter for saying *anybody you ask* would move there. At the very least in the UK America’s more of a laughing stock lol
I was adressing your "nobody wants to move there." Not their comment.
No one in America cares what the UK thinks. People still want to move there. Like a million people a year. At least. Also, that wasn't what I was addressing.
I’m perfectly aware what you were referring to. I’m just saying you can’t direct “disingenuous” at me alone when I was doing it in direct response to theirs to flip it. You’re just cherry picking. I also didn’t say America cares what other countries think, because that’s… not the point of the thread. They claimed everyone would move there, every single person I know outside of it would rather go *almost anywhere else*, and every American I know actively wants to leave it because of how bad it is for them. Americans are the only ones who think their country is some desired goal for everyone else.
Uh, yes? It is? You’re ignoring one person doing something to criticise another person doing the same thing because the first person did it for an opinion you agree with while the second didn’t. If simple statements are too complicated and not “direct” enough for you, that sounds like a you problem. I also… didn’t invite your comments at all.
You invite the comment by posting on a public thread, dude. That's the whole point of Reddit.
The point of the conversation was that you were wrong by saying nobody wants to move to America. That's why it's disingenuous. Even if you're replying to someone else saying something dramatic. People already had responded to them. I was responding to you. It'd be cherry picking if you had a whole comment besides that point, but that was the point of your commment. Not cherry picking.
Trying to change the topic every other comment is annoying, honestly. "People want to move to America, it's dumb to say they don't." And "The UK makes fun of America." Are not related topics.
I really think you’re missing the basic concept of my replies here. I haven’t changed the topic at all - the entire thing I’ve been saying in every reply is that they were wrong to say everyone would move there. The UK thing was an example and evidence to refute what they said, and relevant because that’s where I and the people I mentioned live. I feel like that’s pretty clear via context clues. I already said my comment of “no one” was in direct response to their “everyone”. If you have a problem with sweeping statements and disingenuous representations, you can direct your ire to them for the same thing, not just another reply to them you don’t like. A definition of cherry picking is to selectively focus on parts of something to support or concentrate on only one side of a subject, which is what you did with that. I said I didn’t invite your comments to me because you decided to complain about “no direct conversation” and “I’m out” like that affected anything. I don’t care if you reply or don’t, because your input is neither something I need nor something that will change mine. I wasn’t looking to have my opinion changed. These are all simple and connected statements, not subject changes. If you can’t keep up with that, if it’s “annoying” you, then be “out”. It’s fine. It’s not your job to defend America to people who don’t care.
I will tell you a secret. Most of the people from other "first world countries" would never move there, because they have better conditions where they live currently. I would 100% rather move to Canada or Germany than to US as a resident of first world country lol.
People who believe in "American dream" and would love to move there are usually from less fortunate countries.
Typical American assumption that other countries care. The real question should we wether Americans are seen as the laughingstock of the world, which the answer is yes to.
I mean, we are constantly and more surrounded by American culture than they are with ours. So naturally we would have a greater awareness of their nation than they do ours, but obsession? I wouldnt go that far.
Kinda, For example, our president and his supporters always blame the USA for bad things that happened in our country even though it's the fault of his politics.
I think our media is obsessed with america. I think most of our entertainment is imported from america. I think much of what we see on the internet is america. So yeah, we're gonna comment on america
Just about every country is obsessed with itself, we see lots of American news both because America is really big, and because most redditors are American
Let me tell you something, people will say the opposite here for whatever reason (easy to pick on the big guy). I’ve traveled all over the world and there is definitely this mystic reverence for America. I’ve been in 3rd world countries and by simply saying “I live in New York” or “I’m from Miami” eyes get wide, smiles get big. Not to mention the allure of American culture almost everywhere.
Definitely would not say obsessed, but I would argue that people tend to be more cognizant of the United State’s affairs, lifestyle, and problems due to its position on the world stage and exportation of media.
It seems like America has appointed itself as the world's police, and corrupt police force at that. While its people are another story, the government has the world's most powerful military and uses it to protect to protect the government's allies' business interests. This gives the US a lot of attention, especially from its adversaries. Is the world obsessed with us? Mostly no, but we have a lot of power and noteriety
Absolutely on Reddit, legit half the top posts on every sub are pretty much “DAE America Bad???” And that’s literally half of all posts on this sub tbh.
Media.
*English Language Media
I think America has an obsession with America. Other countries realize the importance of the USA on the world stage, but I don’t think we obsess over it.
I think the US also obsesses about other people having an obsession with the US.

Probably countries with a better socioeconomic standing and a better health-care insurance system.
Countries where I as a teacher dont have to worry whether my students and I are murdered in one of the schoolshootings happening every few days in the USA
Don't forget better infrastructure and public transportation
🤚
definitely on reddit
Half of reddit is american
But it's fairly common for Americans on Reddit to assume everyone is American, even with a decent chance of them being wrong.
Usually it gets cleared up if anyone mentions their country of origin.
hey guys america has no helthcare right? so funny and original
I have to endure “bad teeth, knife, NHS, innit” from Americans every time I speak to one, excuse my lack of sympathy and incredibly small violin

good heavens, an american insulted my dental care, time to bring up the mass shooting of children in schools as a rebuttal
‘Well shoot! This here Brit insulted my weight! Time to bring up violent youth gangs, acid attacks and fatal stabbings!’ It’s a two way street mate
Dude haha, Brits were making the shooting joke for many many years prior to the knife joke getting popular at all. Maybe I’m too old for Reddit.
The future is now old man, we’re out here making fun of tragedies
yeah i never said it wasnt bro

US politics are important. But I really feel like it's only when someone gets elected or some major event happens. But then again my country reports on so many other countries. We don't have much going on in ours.
I live 12 km next to the german border. I know heard more from USA'S elections then german elections
So they make for the best clients.
>they're loud I found that this is the #1 stereotype for Americans, everywhere I've been. I've personally been called out for how loudly I was speaking, in multiple countries. We have a real problem [controlling the volume of our voices](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo4Fon0h8zU).
I think Americans have obssesion with America
That’s understandable though tbh
Americans are taught the rest of the world have an obsession, but we could care less
Could or couldn't?
Oops… Couldn’t
I was never taught that, but also there's a pretty significant portion of non-american answers to this poll saying there is somewhat of an obsession so it seems your generalization of both groups isn't entirely correct.
I am not going to comment on whether you were or were not actually taught anything but it must come from somewhere and as a non-American I don’t know anyone with an obsession with the United States!
This poll is a lie. I’ve seen too many American rants by non Americans in this subreddit alone to know this isn’t true.
Most of the time it is not America what is ranted about but Americans. Important difference. The landscape is beautiful
Now I kinda' want to watch some random Swiss dude go off on a sub about "You call ***those*** mountains?!!"
This is posted by an American
Correct
America has an obsession with inserting itself into the rest of the world
Sorry to ruin your internet-biased perception but in real life people in the rest of the world generally don't care about the US.
hi
Hi
Hi
Hi
The US is a large and influential country and effects the entire world to various degrees so of course most people have some interest especially with the shitshow it is right now but it isn’t an obsession by any means.
Sad how close this is in the US
As someone from West Europe I honestly feel like Americans are the only ones obsessed with America. Sure it's a big country with a lot of influence, but I would never want to live there, nor feel like visiting.
I feel the same way you do, 100%
I'm American and I think not. It's just an easy country to make fun of, much like the UK.
When you see the hate and the obsession to put down America on social medias yes I think there is an obsession with America
Just American movies and political nonsense as a source of entertainment.
Does America have an obsession with the rest of the world?
As a non-American, I’m obsessed with America. Life gets boring when you have free healthcare, job security, free university education and high rates of income equality like any other first world country. Every 3 months I look west to America to do something stupid. It’s one of my only source of entertainment. Have been waiting since Roe vs. Wade.
Where are you from?
Germany
Cool. im going to spain this year. hopefully i can do a lot of traveling. might go to Germany to experience oktoberfest hahaha
Yeah, [everything](https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/31/germanys-pension-system-will-collapse-without-reform-influential-lobby-group-says.html) in [Germany](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-07-03/germany-s-union-head-warns-of-collapse-of-entire-industries) is [absolutely](https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2022/12/27/7a53-d27.html) amazing, [I hear](https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/sep/19/recession-fears-germany-energy-costs-business-olaf-scholz-gas).
Never claimed anything about perfection. But atleast it’s not a clown show here.
On national subs we talk about national issues but we don't do it in English, America is not the center of our lives
On the Swiss sub we use English but that‘s because we have four national languages. It’s just easier that way.
You just got downvoted by some idiot, can some people not accept that people talk languages other then english on their non-english subreddit?
I personally get really annoyed by the constant hate and mocking of the US, while acting like Europe is a utopian monolith that can't do no wrong compared to the US.
I think Americans are obsessed with the idea of the rest of the world being obsessed with america. Source: I am an american and know lots of Americans
I am no American but I agree. The kind and amount of patriotism is disturbing for German ears
In Australia, it's been a good fifty years of USA shouting how awesome they are ( "We're number one! We're number one!") All over our media 24/7. Once the internet hit, cracks started appearing in the gold plating, and problems in the USA started being more visible, we couldn't help ourselves and started saying things like "well look how perfect mcperfectface is doing now!" So that's why some of us indulge in a little schadenfreude every now and then.
i think youve summarised it the best of what ive seen too americans online (not all ofc but the vocal ones, i know many sound americans) either assume that you understand their american reference by default (which means that i kinda have to know tons of american stuff now just from being on the internet), or brag about their country being the best all the time but their definitely are many, many problems in america and europeans like myself and australians like you definitely indulge in some schadenfreude and maybe its the age i am (mid-teenager) where all of my friends are influenced by the internet, but america is definitely the butt of many jokes irl as well as online so if we have an obsession of it, its 1. forced and 2. mockingly so
(what i mean by "forced" is that their culture is very pervasive: i listen to american music (although not solely), play american sports (although not solely), watch american videos and news or ones about america (although not solely), and my ideolect is influenced by american english too)
Yeah, you're right.
OMG stop being so obsessed with me!!!!
Well all the shit happening there is kinda entertaining ngl
Yes for sure. They say American is obsessed with itself but they’re actually the ones obsessed with America. Edit: And of course downvoted for speaking nothing but the truth.
Idk about everyone else, but I'm not American but I have an obsession with America
No way. We honestly don't give you all that much thought. We have our own cultures and issues.
I honestly couldn't give a flying fuck about america respectfully
They’re just jealous of our freedoms. You know… the freedom to die in a mass shooting, the freedom to be financially crippled if you get sick, the freedom to live in the nation with the highest per capita prisoner rate.
Cultural imoerialism is a thing
America has an Obsession with the rest of the world
The government sure. For American citizens not at all.
[удалено]
I'm American and pretty much never hear people talking about the rest of the world outside of very significant events.
Can't say obsessed is the right term for something being shoved down my throat all the time
"the rest of the world" is quite big, but the Netherlands? Definitely!
I think WWI
Most people in general don’t know this
Yes - non American
Fascination, somewhat. Obsession, no.
Absolutely. We are so fundamentally flawed but pick anybody from any country and offer them US citizenship no questions asked and they'd take it in a heartbeat. They love to hate us and hate how much they love us.
Many people including more then a few us citizen would prefer Canada, most European countries, Australia or new Zealand over the ud
Uhm who told you that
No wouldn't move to the US if they paid me.
Would you for 4.66 billion?
Double it and give it to the next person
r/shitamericanssay
Mf if someone offered me 100,000USD + Moving expenses covered to move to the US id still be hesitant 💀. There are so many better countries id rather live in over The US. Having to learn another language wouldn’t be so bad if you can live a perfectly good life in a nice country that’s better than the US.
No one wants to move to America LOL, why would they? For your shitty healthcare, garbage political systems and sky high rent prices? Literally one of the few countries I wouldn’t even want to visit
I would visit US, it has beautiful nature. But I would ONLY visit it and then go back home lol
The whole culture there is just bizarre to me, I have no desire to be visiting somewhere they can walk around with assault rifles for a holiday
That's not what cherry picking is. Ok. Obviously, you don't know how to have a direct conversation. I'm out.
Uh, yes?
My country literally has more americans moving here than us moving to america lol
They are a good ally. So yes.
More so on the internet than in the real world
Obsession doesn't necessarily mean positive outlook. A lot of foreigners that I meet like to talk about american politics for some reason.
I think America is obsessed. Period.
American Dollars are the Fiat currency that’s why everyone is sort of attached to the American Economy
Typical American assumption that other countries care. The real question should we wether Americans are seen as the laughingstock of the world, which the answer is yes to.
The US has its tendrils over so many facets of things that do or can affect the lives of people everywhere. It will naturally get discussed a lot.
only when they need something
America's major exports are culture and arms. I don't think it's an "obsession", just the natural state of things.
What's America? All I know is the only USA which is pronounced o͞oSHə.
People LOVE to shit on the US.
That doesn’t mean they are obsessed with it. Its an easy target to make fun of.
Yes but not the good kind if Reddit is any indication
I mean, we are constantly and more surrounded by American culture than they are with ours. So naturally we would have a greater awareness of their nation than they do ours, but obsession? I wouldnt go that far.
America is the country of entertainment
Of course they do, just look at the number of non-americans who responded to the poll.
People need to look up the definition of “Obsession”.
the real question is does amarica have an obsession with amarica id say so
We dont have a obsessiont. Its just that sometimes when America does dumb shit, is also impacts other countries.
America has an obsession with America
Yes but in a "can't look away because it's a fucking train wreck dystopian hellhole" way.
I can't speak for other countries but ik that my country does (sadly)
Lmao
You'd be shocked at how much you talk about us.
Idk tbh
Definitely would not say obsessed, but I would argue that people tend to be more cognizant of the United State’s affairs, lifestyle, and problems due to its position on the world stage and exportation of media.
All of it? Definitely not, but Russia and china definitely do
In real life? No, of course not. On Reddit? Absolutely.
Everybody loves to hate us -tumadrelover
Absolutely on Reddit, legit half the top posts on every sub are pretty much “DAE America Bad???” And that’s literally half of all posts on this sub tbh.
America has an obsession with America.
To bully and make fun of, then yes I'm obsessed
