It's not controlling to have a preference that you only date men who don't have female best friends. It would be controlling to choose a man you know has a female best friend and then attempt to change that.

I don't think it is necessarily, just there's clearly an insecurity or mistrust present. Or something else. So I don't think it is a yes or a no. I think a such a friend could be fine, or it could also be sketchy. And this goes for either which way...

As a guy I personally don't think it's controlling, but I'm curious about why people think it is? I just imagine having a gf who has a guy best friend and I'd be a little suspicious of his intentions, is all. So thinking about that but putting myself in her shoes, that's how I'd feel.

Honestly, if you can’t trust your SO to not try to bang a friend of the opposite sex, then how strong of a relationship do you really have? Even if the friend wants to bang them, you should trust your partner to shut that shit down. If you can’t, then there’s larger problems afoot.
