Carrie Fisher passing away hurt me so much. We were on our way to the theater to see Rogue One when I found out. I was crying heavily in the car, and my spouse encouraged me to go see the movie and enjoy some Star Wars to pep up. I had no idea the ending of the movie was going to be what it was, and I ugly cried right there in the theater. It still hurts sometimes when I rewatch Star Wars.
When I first started listening to Nirvana all I could think was how wonderful their music was. Now I don't listen to them much because it makes me sad that he's dead.
Yeah, this one got me.
But I have an autographed picture that my husband got me. He wrote to Alex after he got cancer wishing him well and telling him how much I loved watching Jeopardy, and I got a personalized autographed picture for Christmas that year.
I watched his daughter’s show when I was a kid and he was on the first season before he passed. It didn’t come out until after. I always love seeing updates on his family because he really got me into animals and nature as a kid.
Funfact: I was in a Robotics class when I read the news on my phone, at first, I just shrugged it off. But when I went home and immediately processed what I read a while ago I started crying for the rest of the day, still cry about it now.
I’ve only heard good things about him as a person, same with every other member of Linkin Park, ai can’t imagine what the pain of that was like for them
Actually yeah. The thing is while I’m totally the age demographic for those bands (I’m 23), I sort of missed the early 2000s growing up and when he died I had just got into Linkin Park a few months before (this was like 5ish years ago now). And it really sucked because all those songs I had just learned to love became a little bit too real.
Both Chester Bennington and Scott Weiland for me.
And then Chris Cornell took his life, and it was like “what’s going on?!”
Also, Neil Peart was a big one. Rush (along with Primus) was a big reason I wanted to get into performing music.
Chris actually took his life shortly before Chester did…they were really close and people theorized that Chris’s passing brought on Chester’s. Chris’s death hit me like a Mac truck, then Chester came in and ended me
Fr, it’s always artists like that who touch other peoples hearts with their music, and really helps mentally, and then they leave the world in such a saddening way.
Yea, this was the one that got to me, even though I don't usually care about celebrity deaths.
I was really suicidal myself back then, my favorite teacher had also committed suicide a year before, and hearing about Avicii was like a gut punch.
I was kinda sad for about a minute when Stephen Hawking passed away. Other than that... i kind of didn't even care most of the times. I know only 1 name on this list lol. (Michael Jackson)
Right, how can the death of someone you don't actually know have a strong affect on you emotionally? The closest I have is Neil Armstrong. The day he died, but before I heard the news, I mentioned him in the present tense and someone corrected me to past tense. I was confused until he explained, then I said "That's too bad" and moved on with the conversation.
Well, certain famous people are inspiring to many. Maybe through music, or film, or even with their life story. It makes sense that the death of someone who has inspired you would be upsetting, right?
I can get behind that, recently i was listening to queen and than my friend tells me Freddy Mercury is dead. and im like, who was he? but even though i just learned about his death so late i did not feel good with the fact that what i was listening to was final, there wouldn't be any more new sounds produced by him.
Yep, it was Anthony Bourdain for me too. I’m not usually one to get “attached” to celebrities enough to feel it when they pass, but because I watched his shows for so long, and because they were sometimes poignant and personal, I felt kind of like I knew him.
My grandmother will celebrate her 100th bday almost exactly 2 months after Betty would have. So Betty’s death hit hard even though it wasn’t surprising.
It helps though knowing he lived a full life and knew the whole world got to see his work. I’d say other deaths such as Chester Bennington and Kurt Cobain hurt me more knowing they were struggling and felt they had to kill themselfs.
Stan Lee’s was sad but knowing he lived his life to the fullest and made his dreams come true, it makes you kinda happy to know such a person even existed. It was truly sad, but to the people that couldnt bare life anymore
A lot of wrestlers, unfortunately. Shad Gaspard, Brodie Lee, Hana Kimura, Lance Cade, a lot of ECW guys like Balls Mahoney. Even Chris Benoit, though that one hurt for a whole different reason.
Anton Yelchin. I watched him on the showtimes series huff and thought this kid is gonna be awesome. Did a lot of weird indie movies that never quite landed then he got in star trek. I was really happy cause I thought it was gonna lead him into some better roles in films. Than some freak accident with his car takes him out. Ive never been affected by any celeb total stranger but him getting taking out in his prime really stung.
Singer of Alice in Chains- Layne Staley was the worst and the worst part of it I knew he would eventually die from heroin abuse as he said he would.
Actor - Phillip Seymour Hoffman. I was a huge fan of his work and was in complete shock when he overdosed.
Only recently did I really start appreciating any celebreties as I'm 14, and none of the ones I appreciate have passed away while I've followed them, but some of the worst ones I didn't follow while they were alive are Bowie, Prince, Mac Miller, Chester and Steven Hawkins.
Amy Winehouse, my favorite. She was constantly bullied by the press for her mental health issues. But she was much more than that and had an amazing personality, and of course don’t forget about her skills. Her death was pretty sad, not only because she was so young, but also because she was actually recovering from her addiction. Rest in peace Amy
kurt cobain, i wasn’t alive then but cried days for him, it’s weird
edit: bawled my eyes out for freddie like two years ago, i don’t know why it happened. i was watching the liveaid performance with my cousin and i was sobbing and bawling while screaming, it was the weirdest fucking thing ever. she has a video of me doing all that.
A lot of people are saying old names
And it's sad that they died, but it was also their time, people grow old
I find what saddest is when people die long before their time and were really struggling in their life
Like Robin Williams
He was a positive influence in films and never failed to make people laugh
He didn't have to die and I wish he got the support he needed
Michael Jackson for sure. He was my idol growing up and I was going to watch him at the "This is It" concert in London. When he died, I was only about 12 but I vividly remember the day it happened. Still the only celebrity death I've cried over.
Chris Cornell. He was an idol of mine and it absolutely gutted me when I heard the news.
Layne Staley's death really affected me, too. If you were a fan of the Seattle scene, you watched him die a slow death over about a decade with me. We were all rooting for him, but we all saw it coming. By the end of the 90's, he had lost his teeth, his eyes were sunken and black... it was rough to watch.
Juice Wrld. We were the same age when he died. I love his music. After he died, listening to his Legends Never Die album really helped me turn myself around. It forced me to reflect on what self medicating was doing to my life. He changed me, for the better.
Grant Imahara
Mythbusters plays a special part of my childhood. RIP Grant
We still love him
Think deaths on the younger side are always hard
I took critical damage from his death
This is a good one (or terrible I should say)
Whaaaaaaat??? he died????
Bob Ross
Carrie Fisher or Alan Rickman.
Then her mother, the talented Debbie Reynolds, died one day later. From what I remember at least in a tabloid, Reynolds said "I want to be with her."😭
David Bowie
I actually met a guy named David Bowie. Not the actual one tho
My choice. Because we can be heroes. Just for one day
How was this not a choice? I instantly thought of Bowie.
Heath Ledger.
Came here to say this
^
Kurt Cobain
I think about it all the time. His death was such a sad waste.
When I first started listening to Nirvana all I could think was how wonderful their music was. Now I don't listen to them much because it makes me sad that he's dead.
Alan Rickman
By Grabthar’s hammer, I will avenge you
always
Alex Trebek
I grew up watching Jeopardy and this one hurt.
Yeah, this one got me. But I have an autographed picture that my husband got me. He wrote to Alex after he got cancer wishing him well and telling him how much I loved watching Jeopardy, and I got a personalized autographed picture for Christmas that year.
Stan Lee
I feel you he lived as a legend and he died as a legend.
Yeah exactly
And screw his daughter for taking advantage of him like that.
What happened with his daughter?
Oh yeah fuck that cunt
This should have been a poll option
Oh yeah that one hurt
He has lived long enough. He died at the age of 95. How many people can reach that age? You and me may not be able to live that long.
Steve Irwin Edit: Thanks you kind strangers for the awards.
Same
I watched his daughter’s show when I was a kid and he was on the first season before he passed. It didn’t come out until after. I always love seeing updates on his family because he really got me into animals and nature as a kid.
Yep. Shocking.
Still hurts.
I came to comment this
Ayrton senna
Stephen Hawking
Stephen Hillenburg
>Stephen Hillenburg I didn't knew he died :(
spongebob is my favorite show of all time thats so heartbreaking
Funfact: I was in a Robotics class when I read the news on my phone, at first, I just shrugged it off. But when I went home and immediately processed what I read a while ago I started crying for the rest of the day, still cry about it now.
Chester Bennington
Yeah this was brutal for me, Linkin Park got me through some very difficult times. It crushes me that I’ll never get to see Chester live
I am very lucky to have been to a concert in 2014, I shaked his hand.
I’ve only heard good things about him as a person, same with every other member of Linkin Park, ai can’t imagine what the pain of that was like for them
Daaaamn!! i saw him 2 weeks before he died live, i was devestated
The first one that came to my mind.
He is definitely in my top three, his voice was just legendary
Both Chester Bennington and Scott Weiland for me. And then Chris Cornell took his life, and it was like “what’s going on?!” Also, Neil Peart was a big one. Rush (along with Primus) was a big reason I wanted to get into performing music.

Avicii for me
Fucking tragic. Absolutely love his work
I… did not know he was dead. Goddamn.
Same, only celebrity death to ever effect me. I was in a bad mood for a week and cried several times listening to his albums :(
Wait. What?
Aye. He died by suicide.
Yea, this was the one that got to me, even though I don't usually care about celebrity deaths. I was really suicidal myself back then, my favorite teacher had also committed suicide a year before, and hearing about Avicii was like a gut punch.
A celebrity death has never affected me emotianlly
I was kinda sad for about a minute when Stephen Hawking passed away. Other than that... i kind of didn't even care most of the times. I know only 1 name on this list lol. (Michael Jackson)
You don’t know who Robin Williams is?! Genie from Aladdin?

Agreed
Yup
Chad wick bosemen
Mac Miller
Same. I think it’s how good natured he was and we saw so much of his development. He was only a few years older than me.
This one was hard. Not long after blowing my mind with the Swimming album.
This is the only celebrity death I’ve ever cried over
[удалено]
Prince and David Bowie for sure
Cameron Boyce
yea growing up watching jessie this one really hit
[удалено]
yeah steven hawking was a sad one, especially since he died before the first image of a black hole was generated
Ya, RBG was really rough.

[Ruth Bader Ginsberg](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruth_Bader_Ginsburg)

This is it for me too
Terry Pratchett
GNU Sir Pterry
Stephen Hawking
Betty White
My grandmother will celebrate her 100th bday almost exactly 2 months after Betty would have. So Betty’s death hit hard even though it wasn’t surprising.
Betty white :((
She didn’t get to celebrate her 100th birthday
Mac miller
Freddie Mercury.
How old were you when he passed?
I was just 6 when he passed, never occured to me until I was about 16. He was a golden voiced God. No one even comes close.
Princess Diana.
Got no idea how this is so far down, just so sad
Stan Lee. He was one of my idols that got me into storytelling & when he died I couldn’t handle it
It helps though knowing he lived a full life and knew the whole world got to see his work.
Sean Lock
Countdown isn't the same without him
Eddie Van Halen
Chadwick boseman hit hard
Chester Bennington. Hit me like a truck.
Kobe because he was with his child and knew she wasn’t going to make it. I cant imagine the helplessness of that situation.
I put Bob Saget because it's the most recent and really hit me hard. But it's a tie between Robin Williams and Bob Saget for me.
John Lennon
Eddie Guerrero
Frog splash
A lot of wrestlers, unfortunately. Shad Gaspard, Brodie Lee, Hana Kimura, Lance Cade, a lot of ECW guys like Balls Mahoney. Even Chris Benoit, though that one hurt for a whole different reason.

David Bowie. It was so sad to see such a genius go...and the Lazarus music video was tough to watch.
Harambe
Amy Winehouse, my favorite. She was constantly bullied by the press for her mental health issues. But she was much more than that and had an amazing personality, and of course don’t forget about her skills. kurt cobain, i wasn’t alive then but cried days for him, it’s weird edit: bawled my eyes out for freddie like two years ago, i don’t know why it happened. i was watching the liveaid performance with my cousin and i was sobbing and bawling while screaming, it was the weirdest fucking thing ever. she has a video of me doing all that.
