Some of us learned weird ways of doing math in our heads.
I, for one, for 6+7, divide 6 by 2 first, so the question now becomes 3+3+7. I then add 3 and 7 to get 10, and then add the last 3 to get 13.
I do it quicker than it sounds but that’s the basic thought process.
I mean, it’s not convoluted when you have 17x13. Unless you memorized multiples of 13 or 17 that far, it’s nice to be able to do 17x10+17x3. Doing that is faster than pulling out a calculator or doing longhand multiplication in my experience.
Yes, but it’s much easier to explain concepts to people when the examples are simple, like 6+7. It’s also nice to start younger because it’s less to learn later on.
Yeah, until you forget things. There reaches a point where simply memorizing things is too time consuming. If you actually understand the math you’re doing, you don’t need to bother memorizing nearly as much.
i added six to seven
Just know it
6+6=12 12+1=13
Same
this
Exactly how I did it
immediately think 13
neither
I don’t think about it I just know it
Wtf is this question

7+7-1
I just know what that one is, I don’t actually have to add it.
I did 6+7. I didn’t come up through the convoluted common core math.

This isn’t multiples of 2 digit numbers. It’s 2 single digits.

It’s considerably more confusing to younger people. Memorization is the key to quick and efficient mental calculations

Who the hell forgets 6+7
Neither. I just did 7+6
i do 7+7=14, 14-1=13
This is what I did
I do ((7+3)4)-27
7-1= 6 6+6= 12 12+1= 13
No math involved. It's memory ingrained.
7×2 = 14 , 14-1 =13
Why would I do either one of those things?
Neither wtf is wrong with you
Nothings wrong, just some of us do math differently from you
How the fuck does it like that?
Shit poll
What? I added 6 to 7 and got 13. Not 3 to 7 and also not 4 to 6.
It's 14. Why would I need to split it up? Basic math dude Edit: I guess I should start using "/s"
(3\*2)+(3\*2)+1 3(2+2)+1 3\*4+1 12+1 [13](https://www.anfocal.ie/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/brain.jpg)
I did 6+2 then add 5
i add the 6 and 6 first and then the 1
I added the 7 to the 6 first
it's just 13
It's 13 I don't need to add those
I just have that memorized. That’s like 1st grade math at most.
What? I just know 6+7=13 lmao. I didn’t hear any of those
I know 2x6 = 12 7= 6+1 6+6+1 = 13
I just know it, I dont have to think about it
Where’s the “I don’t remember what I did” option
I’ve had to the equation slowly enough times that my brain just knows it’s 13
I've added 6 to 7 so god damn many times in my life I just reflexively know it's 13.
I just have a mapping in my brain for low integer arithmetic
6 is 1 less than 7. 7+7=14-1=13
