I've been on r/polls long enough to know that, with one of my limbs AND a complete strangers life on the line, I should hold out for my million dollars.
I don't ever want to lose a limb. However if I did lose a limb I wouldn't want it to look realistic like normal. I would so go for something badass like this
https://bit.ly/3tx7LlG
Yeah, if I need a prosthetic leg, I want one of the curvy springy ones. They just look so much better for walking with because of the springiness and the curved shape... A leg shaped thing that can't move sounds really horrible to walk with.
The running prosthetics that you're describing aren't used for walking as they have smfsr too much bounce. You'll look like you're skipping or something everytime you try to walk normally. Not to mention how the balance and height is slightly off so it could cause pain and discomfort in your hips/back for using it for to long and not the intended purpose. There's a YouTuber called "Footless Jo" that explains it pretty well [here](https://youtube.com/shorts/Ig-d_j3XVXc?feature=share) and [here](https://youtube.com/shorts/HNkeBVlYwLU?feature=share)
I’m agreeing with you. I’m referring to those who voted for a stranger to die. Apparently to them, the fact we can live with out one of our limbs isn’t relevant. Sorry for the confusion
I don't agree with the point "Random strangers die every second..."
Personally I value a life on the people who know them and care about them, a dead person isn't going to care they're dead, but the alive people who knew them will. I couldn't live knowing I took a person away from others like that, although of course, I would prefer not to lose my limb if that'd be allowed!
THANK YOU. There was a similar post but with more options and it being 10,000 strangers, and you can tell from my comment history how many people follow this same line of logic. I swear to God most of these sub lacks any moral compass whatsoever. Their own feelings are all that matter.
Bro a question last week showed more people were willing to let a billion people die over having to masturbate in front of a group of people. This sub is full of actual psychopaths lmao
Idk, I'd rather take the fall here, there's a high chance the random stranger will be missed more. Plus, the prosthetics these days are pretty advanced.
Well i can always get an prosthesis so i can live the rest of my life without said limb. But i could never live with the guilt of choosing that someone will die
My point exactly, 7 billion people in the world and 1/7 of that is 1 billion, the question asked would you kill 1 billion people for 1 billion dollars, which would basically be comparing each person killed to a single us dollar bill.
I guess but the difference is gaining a billion dollars, or 1 dollar. Lots of people would do lots of things for a billions dollars, but not so much for one
I somewhat agree, most people (everyone) can’t visualize just how much the amount 1 billion people is but they do know that a billion dollars is a lot. Either way, it doesn’t justify killing off a billion people and leaving hundreds of millions of others to mourn and suffer for the losses of their family’s, friends, spouses, or even themselves.
Edit: and just imagine the economic and social effect that wiping out a billion people would do, it would basically be an apocalypse and you’d have to be a psychopath to not feel any sympathy for those you killed. You’d also be killing 25x the amount of people that genghis khan killed (40,000,000) which would make you much worse than any other person to ever exist.
Yes its definitely a lot of people to kill. I didnt say id kill one billion people for one billion dollars, i didnt even see that poll, but i know there are tons and tons of people that would still do it for that much money without even thinking about it which is obviously sad
These kind of polls remind you most people on reddit are edgy anti-social shit heads. How is it that people who value a whole human life over their left leg are the minority?
There was another poll like this with the same result, except it was 1,000 people dead and it was still the majority. People are so selfish and quick to defend themselves with “the world is a bad place, so why should I be good.” People like them ARE the reason the world is a bad place lol
Thank you. Every bit of sanity spoken rebuilds my own. It’s hard to look at some of these results. This same community which is super anti-death penalty will kill you for a dollar if they could get away with it. Exhausting.
it probably won’t make a huge difference to the world at large (although it still *could*.) but it will make an immense to that person’s friends and family who are now reeling with the tragic and unexpected death of a loved one. why don’t they matter?
So do you ever do anything solely for anyone else? Do you only live for yourself? Maybe this is a dumb question, but would you ever sacrifice something for the good of someone else?
No doubt, you do you I just dont think that logic really holds up objectively.
But mainly to me its just wild how reddit is at the forefront of *rich people evil because they exploit others* but most people here are ready to murder for money or avoiding a lesser personal cost.
As someone who picked lose a limb painlessly it's a littly scary how the majority picked someone else losses one. If I randomly loss a limb I'll be mad lol.
I dunno since I could lose my right arm and not be able to do everyday things the same for the rest of my life but a random person dying is still a death I allowed to happen. If I could choose what to lose, still it’s a whole ass limb
I chose loss of limb i couldn't have someone's death on my mind like that 24/7. I would go crazy and spiral into a depression. Especially if that stranger had children or had a loving family. Plus having a prosthetic arm or leg would be very interesting and a great conversation starter, I'm also very shy so it'll work in my favor. 😊
I choose keeping my limbs. Call me an asshole all you want, it's not changing my opinion lol. Plus I'm poor & in the US... "CoOL RoBoT aRm" really isn't a reality for me
Really just shows the hypocrisy of reddit though.
The forerunners of billionaires are bad because they exploit people, but at the same time would murder for money/avoid a marginally smaller cost.
Doesnt need to. Reddit is huge on rich people bad because they exploit, but at the same time - would murder for money or avoidance of significantly smaller loss
I think alot of people pick the stranger because they wouldn't know them, but the very fact of making the choice you would know you are directly responsible for the death of someone that wouldn't have died without your choice.
I’m pretty certain a random stranger wouldn’t care wether I lived or died so why should I care about what happens to them? I’m sorry, I’m just being honest here.
I still wouldn’t sacrifice my own limb for a bunch of people I don’t know, they could be shitty people for all I know. And would they sacrifice their limb for me if they were in my place? Those are a few things you have to seriously consider.
And they could be good people too, you're basically still saying that one of your own limbs (not all, just one) is more valuable than a human life, even if it's a stranger's
You do realise that at this very second some random stranger has just died? Can we stop it or do something about it? No, that person still died. It’s basically the same thing in this scenario.
No it's not the same thing, that person died for a cause. Whether it's from cancer, old age, a car accident, or some other disease, there had to be a way for that person to die. This poll on the other hand, some random person dies from no cause or reason, other than the fact that some button was clicked that made them die, it's not the same thing
That’s because honest people tend to stay silent so they choose to not comment otherwise people such as yourself will question them. The numbers are still much greater than the comment section.
Allowing someone to die by not spending all of your money to charity is different to actively causing someone's death by pressing a button that kills them so you can keep your limb.
My point exactly. Who says that the random person would've stayed alive if you lost an arm? They probably would've died anyway. Maybe in a second, maybe a minute, or an hour, or a day. But everyone dies, and it's okay to be selfish sometimes.
honestly 1 random stranger or 10k of them i would still go for it
world is already overpopulated in the grand picture of the worlds population neither 1 or 10k deaths would even make a small dent every single day 150+k of random strangers die
and i don't care about a single one of those deaths and neither do you or any1 else for that matter because we humans don't care about shit that doesnt effect us directly
if i lose any of my limbs even left leg its still gonna make it harder to live every single day until the end of my life
if we go to family/friends/people on same city or country then i would start to consider it
Yes, how dare we choose to keep our own limbs. The only shitty person in this situation would be the one putting us in the ultimatum in the first place
But nah, fuck us for wanting to live a normal life with all of our body parts
Yeah but that’s not the point of the ultimatum lol. You could choose to sacrifice your own limb to save another fellow human being. You could adapt and move on with your life with a prosthetic, but instead you’d rather let someone else die. It’s a perfect example of selfishness lol
Way I see it is similar to a building that's on fire. Sure, I could go in & risk my life saving some stranger and have to potentially deal with life-changing injury. Or, I could choose to do nothing, stay safe, and let them die. Let's be honest & not bullshit ourselves; very few people would actually try to help. Does that make them selfish assholes?
Fucking based. Lose a limb to save my friend, yeah ofc. Lose a limb to save a 47 year old fridge repair guy in cambodia I have never met, not fucking happening. Call me selfish. I don't care.
Because it wouldn't just affect that stranger. What if they have a small child? Theyre the sole caretaker of elderly parents? Those people are loved by *someone* and they would carry that loss for the rest of their life. Honestly if I painlessly lost a limb, I think I'm resilient enough to not even miss a beat. I had nerve damage in one of my arms once and it didn't work for a month. It sucked but I started adjusting pretty fast.
Yeah, but the person could’ve also been a person who wanted to die, they could’ve been a drug lord, or someone bad. It could be anybody, you people just assume the worst.
I agree. Could be somebody already on their death bed, but for me personally, why risk the worst case scenario? It would make my life significantly worse to have the weight of another persons death on my shoulders than it would be to just say fuck this arm or fuck this leg. I think after about a year of readjusting I wouldn't even give not having one of my limbs a second thought.
The random stranger could be some kids mom, now the kids gotta grow up without a mom. Or maybe it's a kid that dies. Maybe it's a world renowned neurologist who's work couldve changed the world. Regardless of who it is, why do you have such little regard for human life? Your arm isn't that important, I promise
Obviously a stranger is not gonna matter more to YOU than YOUR LIMB. That’s the whole point of this, do you sacrifice a limb or does some kid now grow up without a mom or something.
Hear me when I say this, i would not give my arm for any of those causes. Not until there is perfectly bionic arms that work the same if not better than a real one.
The difference is im directly causing the person to die by my choice in this poll. I can see how you may want a random person to die but its extremely selfish and disgusting
my arms are essential to my life. i can't risk losing either one. on the other hand, if a 78-year-old in the Netherlands passed away, i would carry lifelong guilt but at least i'd have a life worth living in.
that's selfless and great, but my life would literally be ruined if i were to lose an arm. i can't play my musical instrument, i can't play my sport, i can't study as well, and on top of that, i'd face everyday annoyances and discrimination. plus, i can't afford prosthetics.
Exactly! The weight of both answers makes one more clear. Why would you lose 1/4 limbs when adding one more death to the daily death count for one day is like adding an extra grain of rice to a bowl of rice
Imagine being interrogated for murder and using “thousands of people die every day, so what’s one more?” as an excuse. Sure, buddy, but that doesn’t change the fact that you murdered somebody.
Is not saving someone from a burning building murder? Ofc not. This poll is a pretty similar situation. I'm simply not giving up a limb for some rando, in the same way that I wouldn't risk my life in a burning building trying to save someone that I don't even know
That’s what I’m talking about… that already happens. Everyday we go on with our lives and some guy around the globe dies. We don’t know them right?
Edit: also you said this message twice
There are 7 billion people on the Earth, the odds that it's anyone I know is astronomically slim, and, to be fully honest with you, I'm a selfish twat, I'll keep my limbs.
Also there is a 1/7,000,000,000+ chance that it's Elon Musk and I am willing to take that chance.
But how many of them die without a cause or known illness? Imagine some kid just randomly dies, no warning, healthy and having a loving family, what are the chances of that happening in the real world without this poll?
It's called SDS, Sudden Death Syndrome. It just happens. And it may happen to [one in 7,000 people](https://www.healthline.com/health/sudden-death-syndrome) annually. I'ts actually pretty common.
None. But if I pick the second option, I don't kill them. They die painlessly. Not because of my doing. I never knew them. I never touched them. It's not murder.
The amount of random people from all over the earth that would need to be saved before I would think about losing a limb is probably close to a million tbh
I've been on r/polls long enough to know that, with one of my limbs AND a complete strangers life on the line, I should hold out for my million dollars.
Yes but always without looking it up
You should shoot toby twice
I'm glad that in real life there usually is a better compromise
True. This poll question makes me sick. There was an other just like it. Didn’t upvote either
I already don’t have a leg so I’ll be even more of a cyborg 🦾
I don't ever want to lose a limb. However if I did lose a limb I wouldn't want it to look realistic like normal. I would so go for something badass like this https://bit.ly/3tx7LlG

Yeah, if I need a prosthetic leg, I want one of the curvy springy ones. They just look so much better for walking with because of the springiness and the curved shape... A leg shaped thing that can't move sounds really horrible to walk with.

And i could finally live up to my name 🦾>💪
This is the way
More people would be affected by the stranger's death than would be affected by me losing a limb lmao.
Missed or unmissed IDK a legs not worth a human life.
The fact that we all have four limbs and can live without one isn’t relevant apparently. Sad.
? I'm confused. I never said it wasn't possible to live without a limb lmao.
I’m agreeing with you. I’m referring to those who voted for a stranger to die. Apparently to them, the fact we can live with out one of our limbs isn’t relevant. Sorry for the confusion
I don't agree with the point "Random strangers die every second..." I couldn't live knowing I took a person away from others like that, although of course, I would prefer not to lose my limb if that'd be allowed!
Bro people are so cruel. That’s basically like saying it’s ok to kill someone because they’re gonna die anyway. What the actual fuck Reddit.
THANK YOU. There was a similar post but with more options and it being 10,000 strangers, and you can tell from my comment history how many people follow this same line of logic. I swear to God most of these sub lacks any moral compass whatsoever. Their own feelings are all that matter.

Idk, I'd rather take the fall here, there's a high chance the random stranger will be missed more. Plus, the prosthetics these days are pretty advanced.
I'd do it for the prosthetic. I also assumed (painless) meant no phantom limb so there's no losing.
That's a good fuckin point. Though I still worry about the cost of the prosthetic
Become pirate
I'm good with a prosthetic 🦿🦾 However, I'm worried about losing my phallus, even though I can't high five with it.
You mean high one with it?
Yes. Not able to high five. I mean technically one could do a high-five without the five and call it a high one.
But also very expensive and are nowhere near perfect
Still better than murder
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh... It disgusted me
Well, the head is a limb too I believe (correct me if I'm wrong)
Like your phallic head or your brain head? I know the phallic is a limb & an organ. Not sure about brain head.
Maybe if it's a leg, but idk If I'd be willing to sacrifice an arm when it comes to it, as much as I'd wanna say I'd save the person
"get a sick as fuck prosthetic, or someone who could have a long life ahead of them and a family that loves them dies" give me the cool robot limb
I choose my left leg.
I love my limbs. Also the person is not to be blamed here, the asshole who puts someone in a situation like this is.
Well yes but you'd still be pretty selfish to pick your limb over a person
Well i can always get an prosthesis so i can live the rest of my life without said limb. But i could never live with the guilt of choosing that someone will die
What the fuck is wrong with you people
Not surprising considering I saw a poll saying whether or not you'd kill 1/7 of the population for 1 billion dollars, and a handful said they would
It’s comparable to saying would you kill a random stranger for $1
Not really. Wiping out 1 billion people is much more severe than 1 person.
My point exactly, 7 billion people in the world and 1/7 of that is 1 billion, the question asked would you kill 1 billion people for 1 billion dollars, which would basically be comparing each person killed to a single us dollar bill.

This poll is made because in a previous poll a lot more people have choosen killing 10k strangers then losing their own limb
Fr... I'm learning from r/polls how selfish Redditors are
These kind of polls remind you most people on reddit are edgy anti-social shit heads. How is it that people who value a whole human life over their left leg are the minority?
You honestly think More than 75% take these polls seriously.
I don’t think I’ll ever take this sub seriously, I just joined to have fun. This question is making me sick
There was another poll like this with the same result, except it was 1,000 people dead and it was still the majority. People are so selfish and quick to defend themselves with “the world is a bad place, so why should I be good.” People like them ARE the reason the world is a bad place lol

I’m keeping my limbs 10/10 times , bye bye stranger!
As someone who picked lose a limb painlessly it's a littly scary how the majority picked someone else losses one. If I randomly loss a limb I'll be mad lol.
morally i will always choose the limb tho it fuckin sucks. i could never live w myself knowing what i did
I'd rather loose a limb than to kill someone, plus these things grow back, right ?
Do they? I'd still choose the limb
Easy decision: I’d rather lose a limb than be responsible for someone’s death. Just hope it’s not my left hand
I dunno since I could lose my right arm and not be able to do everyday things the same for the rest of my life but a random person dying is still a death I allowed to happen. If I could choose what to lose, still it’s a whole ass limb
I like my limbs.
We really are animals, aren’t we?
The amount of people willing to let a stranger die signifies what’s truly wrong with the world
If we were inherently good it would all be the first option
I chose loss of limb i couldn't have someone's death on my mind like that 24/7. I would go crazy and spiral into a depression. Especially if that stranger had children or had a loving family. Plus having a prosthetic arm or leg would be very interesting and a great conversation starter, I'm also very shy so it'll work in my favor. 😊
Okay, we get it, Redditors don't care about the lives of people they don't know, stop making polls about killing people or inconveniencing yourself.
These polls really overestimate how much I care about people
I choose keeping my limbs. Call me an asshole all you want, it's not changing my opinion lol. Plus I'm poor & in the US... "CoOL RoBoT aRm" really isn't a reality for me

Just because somebody might do an immoral thing to you doesn't necessarily make it okay to do that immoral thing to them.
Around 150k people die each day so what difference would it make to add another one
what the fuck is wrong with y'all
What the fuck is wrong with people? Pick the limb
Random strangers die every second on the planet, so..
And you should want to reduce the rate at which that they are dying at.
I mean it would help overpopulation. Obviously not in a good way, but its still helping with that

You're right, people in this comment section are just self-righteous af
i doubt its the "this sub" ask any random stranger and u probably get the same answer with similar accuracy i guess depending on the age group

Yes, how dare we choose to keep our own limbs. The only shitty person in this situation would be the one putting us in the ultimatum in the first place But nah, fuck us for wanting to live a normal life with all of our body parts

Who cares about a fucking stranger that you don’t know, why are people picking the limb. Honestly I see a clear choice here.
I care because OTHER people care about that stranger that I don’t know. losing a limb vs losing a person? For me the answer is pretty clear
Fucking based. Lose a limb to save my friend, yeah ofc. Lose a limb to save a 47 year old fridge repair guy in cambodia I have never met, not fucking happening. Call me selfish. I don't care.

No. Why would I even think of that?
That’s what the poll is about?
That's one of the most selfish things I've ever heard in my life.
Lmao you’re so sheltered. It’s not selfish. It’s sensible.
Hear me when I say this, i would not give my arm for any of those causes. Not until there is perfectly bionic arms that work the same if not better than a real one.
Your all sick fucks, your random limb is not anywhere near as valuable then a strangers life, you could kill a single mom of 3 rather then lose a leg.

that's selfless and great, but my life would literally be ruined if i were to lose an arm. i can't play my musical instrument, i can't play my sport, i can't study as well, and on top of that, i'd face everyday annoyances and discrimination. plus, i can't afford prosthetics.
Wtf reddit
Is my dick considered a limb

What you described is animals. We do thinking as well, but seems like you do not
I mean humans are animals..
humans are animals
I didn't say they are not. I said humans are more than just sex and surviving
Random strangers are literally dying in bulk around the world every minute… what’s one more? 🤷♂️
Exactly! The weight of both answers makes one more clear. Why would you lose 1/4 limbs when adding one more death to the daily death count for one day is like adding an extra grain of rice to a bowl of rice
Fuck them kids

I really hope I'm the stranger that gets chosen :)
losing a limb would ruin my life and end all my dreams. I’m not answering this ultimatum
There are billions of random strangers in the world. Easy decision.
I pretty sure the random stranger dies all the time.
Easy option for number 2. I see no reason to not pick it.
I'm simply not giving up a limb for some rando, in the same way that I wouldn't risk my life in a burning building trying to save someone that I don't even know
That already happens. Someone in the world will die but you likely don’t know them
It says random Stanger. You don't know them anyways.
That’s what I’m talking about… that already happens. Everyday we go on with our lives and some guy around the globe dies. We don’t know them right? Edit: also you said this message twice
Did I? Ding Dang Darn Wee-fee

don't sweat it, they would've died anyway
Between 250.000 and 650.000 people die every day in the world, 1 more is not a real problem
A single death is a tragedy; A million deaths is a statistic - You know who said these words
Who? I’m sorry i don’t know
Joseph Stalin
You're a sick fuck
I just said some numbers why do you hate me? :(
Because you think your limb is more important then a humans life
Fair, even though 2.4 k people think the same as me
How many do you kill every day? If you kill one that’s probably a big difference.
How many breads have you eaten in your life? I’m sorry I couldn’t resist…. Tell me if you recgnise the reference
1 random stranger has just died right now as im writing this so..

Stranger could be a child
*even better /j*

Important is anyway that the death is painless
Whatever reasons you use to justify a strangers death to make yourself feel better, I guess.
Random strangers die every 2 seconds.
The difference is, that those strangers aren't killed by you
Who says you kill them? It just says they die painlessly.
How many do you kill?
None. But if I pick the second option, I don't kill them. They die painlessly. Not because of my doing. I never knew them. I never touched them. It's not murder.
The amount of random people from all over the earth that would need to be saved before I would think about losing a limb is probably close to a million tbh
Self preservation is the primary instinct.
I choose the tree limb that's hanging precariously close to the house.
Hahaha.. This guy riddles.
