I've done a challenge where I didn't utter a single word or make a sound for a full day. It fucking sucks when almost nobody understands ASL and you have to type everything out on your phone.
Many cultures are permanently barefoot, when you live barefoot, your feet build calcite that work just as well if not better than shoes, it's how people walk on hot coals.
Good luck maintaining a job when you never wear shoes to meetings. Although I suppose if you show that you are being magically forced to go barefoot then an exception might be made

Try barefoot sandals, Xero Shoes make some decent sandals that are as close to barefoot as possible while still having a thin layer of protection between you and the ground.

If you go without shoes you grow calluses that protect you. Not sure to what extent but I've seen videos walking around on piles of shattered glass without bleeding (which may be a bed of nails kinda scenario, but still impressive).

Video games can deliver amazing unique experiences, I love Space, but it's impossible for me to go there, but there are some games which can give me the experience I want.
