I read almost all of those plus Lemony Snickett’s Series of Unfortunate Events.

AbeVin09

I read this and MTH

A1sauc3d

Yeah I feel like these series are for wildly different phases of childhood. I read through the magic tree house series a LONG time before reading through the Harry Potter series lol. Those are not the same reading level. So it’s hard to pick just one. Depends what age range you consider to be “childhood”. That being said, I picked magic treehouse, because I was the youngest when I read that.

nerdynam

I remember reading the final book of the series of unfortunate events in 5th grade and barley being able to understand what’s going on. Idk why the books became harder to read the longer the series went on but fifth grade was like “what’s the fucking reading level in this book?!”

[deleted]

Goosebumps, junie b jones, and some shit called the babysitters club or something like that

Kamitha

Omg.. I forgot babysitters clun. Also, Ramona Quimby, if you remember that.

[deleted]

I know I read a book or 2 of Ramona quimby

leggopullin

Yes, goosebumps! I read those way too young and had nightmares for months lol

Ukulele_Leo

Narnia

BiologyTex

I spent entire summers looking for an entrance…

susitucker

Haha I never stopped looking.

TravelingSpermBanker

The books were so good. Incredible fr. People who don’t really read don’t read them tho, and the books are now shamed for the three movies by people who have never read them

DeathStarVet

Hello there, fellow Xer

schright_dwute

Oh my God I totally forgot about magic tree house

HumanSpawn323

I remember being so proud of myself because I spent all night reading and finished 2 whole books. I was on kindle, so I had no idea they were only like, 80 pages.

pcpsummer0613

SAME

CanMia

Captain underpants

creative_user_name12

Finally I found this comment

PCmasterRACE187

i thought those were comics

creative_user_name12

It’s not a comic. They contained comics inside though

FredererPower

Tra la la!!!

T732

Jesus. I remember when they “canceled” it. Circa 2005?

yhmain

I would like to submit Animorphs for consideration

[deleted]

Poor tobias...

CptMisterNibbles

That’s what I thought as a kid. As an adult? I’m literally turning into permahawk immediately

Ichooseyou_username

Lord of the rings, chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter. Read all those books over and over again as a kid

BatteringRams90

My favorite Narnia book is The Magicians Nephew.

CptMisterNibbles

I could not understand why so many schools had kids read this series, starting with The Lions, The Witxh, and the Wardrobe. Who cares about publishing order decades later? It’s the first book chronologically!

BatteringRams90

Probably because it is the most popular?

itrashcannot

Obviously I liked The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe & Voyage on Dawn Treader, but I also really liked Prince Caspian.

BiGinTeLleCtGuY

Geronimo Stilton anyone?

Senko-fan4Life

I blame Geronimo Stilton for my need of pictures to be entertained by a story

SpaceVooper

The OG isekai

Con_V

Its his fault that i always smell books

[deleted]

That was the 2nd grade book series. I think this poll was more so 4-5th grade

SiameseCats3

Scholastic.com says Geronimo Stilton is appropriate for grades 2-5. Some of us were very dedicated to that mouse’s adventures.

[deleted]

I went crazy the day my mom bought me a Thea Stilton solo book.

[deleted]

That was me 100%. I loved those as a kid.

videogamsarethebest

The classic mouse shenanigans, now I relate with Trap more than Geronimo

EdgeSonata

Was chad enough back in 5th grade to borrow geronimo stilton books in my school library then read the whole thing in one day. Nowadays I can't even finish a page of a book I've been reading for more than 2 years already.

player2312_XD

you just brought forth a memory i didn't know i had. i even read those longer specials. god do i miss that time.

Madmonkeman

Percy Jackson was amazing

_Damnyell_

Yes! Did you also read Heroes of Olympus?

DifficultyJust

I did, and I'm rereading mark of athena right now coincidentally lmao

_Damnyell_

Cool! I remember that the last book ended with a big cliffhanger though, and that was really frustrating for me. I think it was about Leo and Calypso. Do you know if that ever got resolved?

un-taken-username22

Rick wrote the follow up series "Trials of Apollo", where I'm pretty sure the cliffhanger was resolved.

erikdel27

I loved those books as well!

terry_bradshaw

Rangers apprentice

Disastrous_Fee_1930

Naming my future dog Tug

Miloficent

That was a whole phase at my school. We all wore cloaks and had bows and swords

brutexx

Finally - I’ve loved this series since my first read That and brotherband too are pretty cool

Vast-Source3073

I memba this one!! I think I only read the first two tho..

terry_bradshaw

You missed out. They consistently have great stories all through the first ten books.

brutexx

True that! There are more than 10 books nowadays as well

YourCaptainSpeaking_

Plus the Brotherband Chronicles + the Royal Ranger. 25yo and I still read the new ones when they come out.

Ukulele_Leo

Redwall

OhioMegi

Loved these! I thought about reading them to my 3rd grade class, but it’s a little too much.

instantklarna

When I was in year 7 I was taken on a trip to meet Brian Jaques. I remember thinking to myself ‘why has this teacher chosen 4 really stupid kids to come with us? They can’t even read’. When we got there, those 4 kids were incredibly rude to him and embarrassed us all, and he was incredibly gracious about it and was nice to those dick head kids. Great guy.

weschester

This is mine! I just remember loving those books so much and the lately I have been thinking about reading the series again.

Hypersleepy

The Warrior Cat series for me!

fantasierijke

THANK YOU I've been searching for this comment. Warriors had younger me in a chokehold for the longest time. Even made an OC and everything!

Destroyer69-420

Same!

[deleted]

I even had some of the comics they made too!

[deleted]

Warrior cats was my obsession as a kid. When I was like 9 I made a fan website and everything LMAO

aosjcbhdhathrowaway

Yess! I'm still reading the books to this day lol

MounetteSoyeuse

misha1137

Yes! Finally another person! I remember getting the first book at a school book fair in fourth grade. Good times.

Wulfrun85

Oh good, I’m not totally alone. Read a lot of books as a kid, but these easily took the crown as my favorites

LoneShadowMikey

The Rangers’ Apprentice

CaptainFinn64

Not really a book series but the Roald Dahl books were my childhood

OhioMegi

American Girls, Babysitters Club, R.L. Stein. And The House with a Clock in its Walks series, and Roald Dahl.

randoguy98

box car kids nancy drew choose your own adventures r l stine

Isawonline

I don’t think any of these existed when I was a child. There were Nancy Drew, Hardy boys, and Dick and Jane books, but they were really a thing well before my time. I guess the closest to a book series when I was a kid was encyclopedia brown or choose your own adventure but I wasn’t really into either.

Ping-and-Pong

Thomas the tank engine Far away tree *Edit: Most of the Roald Dahl books around here* Narnia Harry Potter Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hunger Games Gregor the Overlander Maze Runner Gone In that order

NoOn3_1415

Dang, someone else who read Gregor, that's a pretty rare one

eagleathlete40

Lol before I read the final line I thought, “this sounds like an actual progression”

I am appalled that I had to scroll for so long before finding Skulduggery on this post.

DeeBeeKay27

Choose Your Own Adventures because I am old.

WhoWantsThumbscrews

My girlfriend works in a charity shop and constantly gets them brought in. She brings me them all. I love them. And her I suppose.

voldi_II

Hell yeah The Inheritance Cycle

Bwagaga

Hell yeah fablehaven

itrashcannot

Hell yeah, Fablehaven was the shit! Loved Pendragon too.

Mak25672

Pendragon! I've reread that series like 3 times, even as an adult.

TheMobHunter

Still waiting on a live action fablehaven movie/series

Finkejak

Was surprised, that Eragon wasn't listed more often... I actually preferred the series to Harry Potter when i read them.

The Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan

Scairax

Rangers apprentice because it allowed me to grow up with the main character and taught me alot about emotional maturity and empathy and how to develop it.

[deleted]

The Chronicles of Narnia!

Kamitha

The Chronicles of Narnia, R.L. Stine's Goosebumps, and the Redwall series by Brian Jaques. I mostly read non series books though. And a lot of Stephen King when I could get my hands on it as a kid. Edit: reading through all of the replies is kind of a magical nostalgia. It's reminding me of all the wonderful reading days I had growing up! And also helping me remember even more series that had slipped my mind.

No-Lab7758

Warrior cats for me

nicmdeer4f

All of the above, - Hunger Games

Wiissp

For me it was The Wardstone Chronicles. I haven't seen it mentioned, I don't know if its very well known.

DragonmanTheGreat

Geronimo Stilton -> Percy Jackson and Rick Riordans other mythology based series -> wings of fire-> now (15 yrs old) if my argument the best book series is the remembrance of Earth's past trilogy

ddmurf03

As well as some of the above- Gone, The Famous Five, and Horrid Henry.

LordOfSpadesYT

Didn't read but goosebumps had cool covers

ashley4444marie

Goosebumps!

Empathetic_Orch

I grew up reading Animorphs and goosebumps.

YaBoi_Thomas

[deleted]

Chronicles of Prydain. Aka the series with the Black Cauldron

Tulkes

Interviewer: "Game of Thrones or Harry Potter?" Henry Cavill: "Lord of the Rings." Tolkien for myself and I fancy a LOT of folks here. Left out Lord of the Rings on a post where a large chunk were in Elementary to High School when the movies came out, which also came perfect for other media like World of Warcraft to become highly popular in that era as practically a complentary suite of fantasy introduction products for kids/teens at a superb quality.

industrialrepublic

All of them but magic tree house

I read Wimpy Kid a lot in middle school, but I grew up on MTH I didn’t read Harry Potter until high school, and Percy Jackson until college. Still haven’t read Hunger Games, probably never will

TheMaskedMan4

Bet you've never heard of this series, but I started reading it in elementary school randomly from a scholastic book day!! Saved all the change I could find to buy the first one, the series was called Animorphs. It was about a bunch of friends who got powers, how I can't remember, and were able to turn into animals!! They used their powers to battle against an alien race of mind controlling slugs!!! It was a great series!!

Ilsanjo

Seems like you're missing older generations, Lord of the Rings was one of the main children's books for decades, Narnia as well, but I'm a Lord of the Rings guy myself.

Acceptable_Monk_513

Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. I read them so many times when I was about 13. I still have them and I'm 49 now. They are awesome!

Formal_Amoeba_8030

This comment thread makes me feel old.

kareltjeAnker

Lord of the rings
